Top Story

  • Apple has unveiled its response to the Epic lawsuit that ended with the company being required to allow developers to use third-party payment providers. (MacRumors)

    Some notable features:

    1. Developers are only allowed to use third-party payment providers with the express written permission of Apple. Requests for permission may be filed by registered mail that must be sent and received on the sixth Sunday of any given month.

    2. When a user is redirected from the developer's application to an external website to process a payment, the application is required to warn in 40 point text that the user "will probably be devoured by wolves" upon leaving Apple's walled garden.

    3. Apple still insists on a 70% cut of any payment made by any means at any time, from anybody, to anybody. Bobby didn't forward Apple their cut, and Bobby's store burned down the next day. While he was in it. Don't be like Bobby.

    I am exaggerating only slightly.

Yet here we are, now connected to a spy machine whose purpose is to inundate us with product tied to everything they could possibly discover about us.

One can look at it this way: if you buy Apple or Disney products- you are essentially buying products made in the exact same way as the slave labor used by German companies during WWII. Exactly the same in the case of the Uighurs. Think Schindler's List without the uplifting bits.

Try, for example, the search string:

"no sugar tonight in my coffee"

Everyone is focused on the popularity contest and their own personal hobby horses while ignoring the greater issue- because the greater issue is not a popularity contest that they cannot change without drastic action. Because they do not want to consider that, let's just focus on the popularity contest.

Office 2019 is probably pretty safe.

Also, is there a Windows email client with 100% privacy to which I can move my Outlook emails to before the day of reckoning comes?

Depends if you want just the client or need a mail service as well. I recently signed up with Proton Mail, and they do have their own desktop client.

-

I want to report that the $250 Intel Arc 770 (apparently you can get it for $210 or so if you buy an ebay coupon) is absolutely fantastic. It's pushing a 1440 screen at absurdly high quality levels in modern games, AND it will do ridiculously AV1 encoding. It's my understanding that even the $100 Arc card has the same encoding ability/speeds (?), so you could take all the 25GB blu-rays you own and have legally paid for and convert them to 800mb files while maintaining pretty darn good quality.

Whoops. Edit: ridiculously fast

It's my understanding that it will work together with modern motherboards and Intel processors (deep learning?) to speed it up even more, but I've seen a two hour movie done in ten or fifteen minutes or so with no real tweaking and just using the default encoder settings out of the box.

"Targeted disabilities are those disabilities that the Federal government, as a matter of policy, has identified for special emphasis in recruitment and hiring," the FAA's website states.

"They include hearing, vision, missing extremities, partial paralysis, complete paralysis, epilepsy, severe intellectual disability, psychiatric disability and dwarfism."

Plus the DIE hire pilots are going to drop the emergency door slides instead of the landing gear, anyway.

I'm going with civil unrest ---> martial law

"Civil unrest" being whatever they say it is.

279 This coming election is going to be the biggest mess this country has ever seen.

The PTB are preparing a contingency to hijack the election integrity issue.

The Never Trumpers will accept a crooked election again if Trump looses. If he wins, the PTB will start day one to overthrow him on every front starting with election integrity.

280 I've done one timing belt job on an old early 90s Prelude (great car btw). It was a tight engine bay but not completely horrible, but I was fine paying someone after that since I didn't have an ideal setup for the work.

282 I expect this year to eclipse 2020. Whatever they are planning is beyond COVID and Floyd.

Simply look at what ever the current claim about "what Trump will do" in the media, and that is the left's game plan. So Clockwork Orange level Ultra Violence leading to Martial Law and cancelled elections.

283 -5 out there now. Which is warm compared to the -13 it was at the same time yesterday. All temperatures in Fahrenheit

284 It was funny because not long after that we happened onto a 70s GMC truck that, if you wanted to, you could sit in the engine bay to do any work.

285 So we stopped dropping about 20 minutes ago at 29.3 degrees.

Now at 29.7 and climbing for the day.

287 Simply look at what ever the current claim about "what Trump will do" in the media, and that is the left's game plan. So Clockwork Orange level Ultra Violence leading to Martial Law and cancelled elections.

And I'm expecting a few 'right wing attacks' that can be used as an excuse to clamp down on Trump voters, deny them basic services and throw them in jail, in order to cow everyone else.

And the mythical '50 million pissed off Trump voters' will keep their heads down and do nothing.

291 When the time comes to replace the timing chain on the Colorado, I'll probably just put swap in a rebuilt engine.

As much as I love the Colorado, it feels like the vehicle was designed to be as difficult to work on as humanely possible as to rack up billable hours at a dealership.

Good, the more splintered the cheat vote is, the better for us.
