Cops: Suspect, 25, busted for Buffalo Wild Wings barter bid JANUARY 19--The Buffalo Wild Wings had closed late Sunday when Justin Carpenter pulled up to the Lawrence, Indiana restaurant around midnight looking for food. Fried pickles, to be exact. In an ill-advised bid to get the kitchen reopened, Carpenter, 25, proposed a barter exchange to B Dubs employees, two of whom were minors. As alleged by police, Carpenter “offered drugs to Buffalo Wild Wings workers in exchange for fried pickles.” Carpenter--who was wearing an ankle monitor as a result of a prior drug arrest--offered marijuana, cocaine, Ecstasy, and vape cartridges containing THC, according to workers interviewed by cops. Carpenter, accompanied by a male friend, reportedly declared, “If you make us some fried pickles, I’ll make it worth it.” Employees did not agree to the drugs-for-pickles trade and Carpenter departed the Buffalo Wild Wings. Before leaving, though, investigators charge that Carpenter left three small bags of marijuana on the restaurant’s front counter, and told a manager, “Give those bags to the kids.”

23% pure battery EVs, or are they counting hybrids?
If you can't get out of the garage because your battery won't charge, you don't call a tow truck.
If you're smart enough to keep your EV at home when the weather is 40 below, you don't call a tow truck.
I think Europe is big on diesel. If you don't keep your diesel warm, it doesn't start in the 40 below, so you call a tow truck.
EVs are mostly new. How many calls were for 20+ year old ICE cars? Or even 7 year old ICE cars with..... dead batteries?

I have strong worries about the quarrels between Trump and DeSantis, and how they would continue forward from here. Especially as the commentariat on Instapundit were Never'ers (of either Don or Ron) - claiming they'll sit out, and then one of the other side baiting them.
But that quote above is the Un-Endorsement of Haley. And given DeSantis's feud with Disney, he has bonafides against woke corporations. Particularly those that, as Iowahawk described, were gutted by the Woke and are being worn as a skin-suit. And Haley's previous forays into woke areas should be cause for concern.

Finally rewatched the movie Fandango (1985) for the first time in over 20 years. Yeah, that's some good stuff.
And I swear to fucking Allah that a guy named Abraham Benrubi (he played Jerry on ER) was in it but it wasn't him. It was some guy named Chuck Bush who was only in one other indie film after this. Welp!
Anyway, if you get a chance to watch this it's a definite recommend. Still about as good as I remember it.

So, I recognize the need for wildlife management in many areas, but the mountain lion hunting saddens me. I confess to being a big cat lover. They say this isn't about trophy hunting and those who say otherwise are up to no good. Unlike with skyrocketing deer populations that have been extraordinarily detrimental to the environment, etc. I don't see a reason for hunting mountain lions. Am I missing something?

When I first saw "Safe Mode', my mind went immediately to Window's method, including the old Win 95/XP era. But I don't recall there being a way to *BE* in safe mode without the machine restarting.
If they're using Windows underneath, it is almost as if was hacked up to allow any safety settings to be disabled this way.
Hopefully Tucker Carlson is right on this, this week. Especially with the shady dealings behind the scenes with FOX and Dominion. And if there were any other defamation lawsuits from Dominion that were settled, they probably need to be reopened.

I thought Colorado had already banned hunting mountain lions decades ago via ballot measure. Maybe it was just a ban on methods that worked.
Last year they got city slicker idiots to vote to import (extra) wolves and now they are moving to increase the mountain lion population. Wonder what they have against the wilderness hikers? I suppose they really just want to hurt ranchers and hunters; cant get people to eat bugs and soy bars when meat is easy to obtain.

You rarely hear of people questioning hunting black bears, that has always been a season in a large part of this nation.
I’ve yet to see a large group of people say let’s go out to a restaurant and eat bear. I am not saying it is inedible . I’m not saying there are not people that like it but it is not something comparable to venison which is truly liked and enjoyed by lots of people. In fact, in many states, hunters hunt deer and gives them meat to the homeless.
I’m not huge on many government agencies at times,, but I would say the fish and wildlife people usually know what they are doing. They issue hunting licenses based on their plans for culling various herds for the long-term benefit.

1. The owners of ICE cars are more likely to venture out in the cold, because they can. EV owners tend to sit home.
2. The ICE fleet includes many older cars, some which may have been neglected wrt maintenance, so dead batteries, or fuel system problems crop up when the weather gets cold. Most of the EV fleet is too new for age-related issues to be very common.

For what it's worth, a (possibly) interesting tidbit here - my grandfather on Mom's side of the family earned a fairly nice living logging out the remainder of the Piney Woods region when Mississippi still had a sizable black bear population, and on many occasions the work crews chowed down on bear. He said it was delicious, with a curious sweet taste to it. Butchering the creature, though, was a freak-out, because there was a troubling similarity with human anatomy.

Once Donks were able to get control of Washington, Oregon and Colorado, they immediately went to a mail in balloting system, and most of these states have rank choice voting and jungle primary schemes as well.

But regarding meet a lot of people don’t like venison. I personally think they just didn’t have it cooked well. I truly love it and would choose it over beef pretty much anytime I had the chance. I know hunters are way laying some deer as we speak and they’re giving that meat to people who are not privileged. At the same time people doing well pay big-time money for venison. Usually the local stuff from hunters is better than the stuff you get from New Zealand.

Ace has hated Trump since the 2016 election. It has nothing to do with electability, he just doesn't like him. Which is fine, we all make our own choices.
It was always silly to insist that Ron was the only electable Republican when he has only a small fraction of the base support. Nobody, Republican or Democrat, wins a national election without having base support.

I'm not a Trump fan boy. I just don't care about his flaws as much as some. I care that Trump scares the shit out of the left and he risks everything to expose them and fight them.
Ron's a good governor but he isn't even in the same league as Trump when it comes to driving the left to expose themselves doing stupid shit and he will never stop fighting. That's why so many support him. There is nobody else remotely like him when it comes to fighting the left.

Charlie Crist was possibly the worst candidate to run for governor in modern history. He barely even campaigned and got almost zero support from the DNC. I think that was part of Ron and his team's biggest blind spot. Ron has done a very good job in Florida but this isn't a Florida race and Charlie Crist isn't running.

I'm not hacking on ace. I've been here for a long time and it's mainly cause I like ace but I don't always agree with him or him me.
Trump won over the inevitable Hillary in 2016 when everyone said it was impossible. He also won in 2020 so big they had to obviously steal it. He is by far the most popular Republican candidate in 2024. We are one state into the primary and the only candidate left standing to oppose him is Nikki frigging Haley. His popularity with the base was obvious to anyone who didn't have blinders on months ago.
Trump is currently winning the national popular vote over Biden which is huge. He's beating him in every single swing state and not by a little. The only way he loses is through cheating. If the left won't cheat against Ron then they don't fear him so why would I vote for him?

I know there’s an old joke about Chinese restaurants on Christmas Day, but I experienced that myself just this year doing some deliveries. A strange site I saw was a group of Hispanic people eating in a Chinese restaurant. One of the group wore a star of David necklace. Didn’t they all gave a Christian prayer and ate together as a family. I have no further point about this I just thought it was interesting and it was awesome too to see a family praising God and enjoying a meal together even at a strip mall Chinese joint on Christmas Day.

MeTV's Sunday to Monday overnight lineup is different from the rest of the week. We get The Fugitive and Mission: Impossible. The Kimble episode is the first one in color, and somehow it doesn't fit the tone of the show. As for M:I, we're into the Phelps stories now, which I remember few specific episodes from. The neat thing at the opener right now is he's driving a big Mercury convertible, teal blue with a white vinyl or leather interior. I wish we could get color combos like that today.

My first car was bought w/ an inheritance by the future Mrs. Wolfus No. 1, a new metallic green Ford Maverick four-door (ca. $4000) with a matching green fabric-and-vinyl interior. Power steering but not power brakes (?), A/C, AM radio, and the larger 250 cubic inch engine. (I looked it up recently: about 100 horsepower.) I'd find it tinny and unpleasant to drive now. Then, I loved it.

Buicks are still the unsung bargains of the car world. You get 70% of the Mercedes driving experience for 50% of the cost, less if you buy used. All three of mine, an '03 Park Avenue, a 2011 Regal, and the current '16 LaCrosse, have been solid and reliable, a pleasure to drive, and reasonable to repair, maintain, feed, and insure.
The don't make sedans any more, just three SUV models. A shame. If something happens to the LaCrosse and I can't find a similar used one, I'll need to look at Toyota Avalons or Lexus ES models.

Start with the old computers where everything was white plastic and with age, particularly exposure to fluorescents, changed them to a dirty yellow color. Now they are all black.
Also the plasticizers evaporate and degrade so the plastic becomes brittle. Door panel in my 2000 Intrepid fell apart at the repair shop when they were fixing my window. They got me a leather replacement (used) at no cost.
The vinyl top on the Buick is now hard and no longer leather-like.
