A family doctor has been suspended for three months after telling a transgender man they were a 'biological woman'. Dr Raymond Brière — who had been practicing for more than four decades in Montreal, Canada — was found by a complaints body to have acted in an 'inappropriate and disrespectful manner' after telling a patient that they were genetically female during an argument about the risks of hormone drugs. During an appointment in mid-2022, the patient asked the Dr Brière for a prescription for testosterone therapy to help them transition into a man. Moar Canadian medical insanity. It isn't easy becoming a professional fisherman. Finding fish and netting them is the easy part of this vocation. The hassle of government interference and ridiculous rules and regulations make it damn near impossible to fish. The U.S. Supreme Court will hear a case Wednesday that could eviscerate the way the federal government regulates, well, everything. A system in place for decades has governed how judges review curbs on air and water pollution, gun safety measures and workplace protections. But all of it could be upended by a conservative supermajority on the court at the request of an unlikely set of plaintiffs: a group of herring fishermen based in Cape May, N.J. The fishing case at SCOTUS is an amazing case study. Watching people absolutely butcher the legal question involved is disheartening. Some truly have no idea and others get it but are so committed to their "ends justifies the means" view of the issue. Even the basic reporting of the case is dreadful.
Multiply that times a thousand for every other issue that comes up on a daily basis... No wonder people end up distrusting what anyone else tells them. I wish more would do their own homework rather than presuming a headline or a description from others is credible. Posted by: TRex at January 17, 2024 10:14 PM (IQ6Gq) 33

The first "garden apartment" my wife and I lived in in 81-83, there was a neighbor family who usually parked within our view out the patio doors. They had a 78 Aspen wagon and would all load into it, son and daughter in back, wife in passenger seat, Dad driving. He would start the car-and they would sit, and sit, and sit, for like 7-8 minutes before he put it in gear to move. It always amused us. If you did this for a week-you'd kill an hour going nowhere, burning gas, wasting time. Sorry, life is too short.

There are no one or two dollars bills circulating in Canada anymore (they are still legal tender if you find one under the cushions on the chesterfield). There is a one dollar coin, called the Loonie, because it bears the image of a loon on one side, and a two dollar coin, called the toonie, for some inexplicable reason, since it has a polar bear on it. Hertz will instead opt for gas-powered vehicles, it said on Thursday, citing higher expenses related to collision and damage for EVs even though it had aimed to convert 25% of its fleet to electric by 2024 end.

Assuming the latter, first test or replace the bulbs. Swap LF bulb with RF bulb, and see if the problem follows the bulb, or is confined to the bulb location. If it follows the bulb, then the bulb is at fault. Rarely, they can fail shorted; one filament burns out near the end, and droops down and welds onto the other filament, causing a cross-connection between the signal function and the park/tail function. But more common is a bad ground on one of the sockets. Least likely? The signal switch itself. Posted by: Alberta Oil Peon at January 18, 2024 12:03 AM (tkR6S) 194

Some vehicles, like my '88 Chevy pickup, have two flashing bulbs in the tail light housings, and one in the park lamp housing. If one or both of the rear bulbs burn out, the single remaining bulb in the front may not pull enough juice to make the flasher work. Get a helper to work the signal switch, and do a walk-around of the vehicle while helper works the signal switch, lighting switch, and brake pedal, and not any anomalies. Left turn, right turn, brakes not applied. Left turn, right turn, brakes applied. Repeat both with lighting switch in both "park" and "headlights" settings, too. That should disclose bad grounds. Posted by: gourmand du jour at January 18, 2024 12:31 AM (MeG8a) I will go out on a limb, and say it absolutely can be fixed. It might be something really trivial, like a cotter pin falling out of the linkage rod, or it could be a busted weld where the shift sector attaches to the manual shaft in the transmission. Even that should not necessitate removing the transmission, unless you have a weirdly-built car. If the dealer cannot do it, or quotes a ridiculous price, contact an independent shop. Even a shade-tree mechanic should be able to fix this, maybe with parts from a wrecking yard. Posted by: Alberta Oil Peon at January 18, 2024 12:38 AM (tkR6S) 231

Last time I drove a stick in town was when my neighbor was out of town and left his lesbaru Impreza parked on a street cleaning day. Since we have keys to each other's house, I let my self in and found the keys on his desk. Got inside. Manual trans. Got it moved before the gendarmes showed up. Drove it a bit. Sporty little deal.

I am not very mechanically inclined, and even if it costs several thousand to fix it's better than going in the hole to replace it. While I was at the dealership I saw F-150s going from $75k to $100k. Amazing. Posted by: gourmand du jour at January 18, 2024 12:56 AM (MeG8a) The park pawl in the automatic was never intended to hold the car on a steep grade. Mostly, they do it OK, but when the park pawl is heavily loaded by the car's weight on a grade, it takes a lot of force to release it, and that places an undue burden on the shifter cable. Watching an endurance sportscar race on YTube. It's at the F1 track in Barcelona. They are playing the national anthems of Spain and Catalonia. One of the fiddle players is quite fetching. Dark hair, dark eyes, she has the whole sultry, Iberian Peninsula thing going. I like it. Posted by: Puddleglum, cheer up for the worst is yet to come at January 18, 2024 03:10 AM (sAmhv) 334

The Islam vs. Islam aspect is sporty. Iran is Shiite. I'm guessing Pakistan is Sunni? This could go real bad real quick.

Wouldn't it be weird if the second nuclear conflict (WWII being the first) was between Iran and Pakistan?

Morning, folken! 'Tis 42 outside, wind chill of 37. I don't know if I feel like working out. I can go tomorrow, but then the following two nights will be pretty chilly too.
Good news from my doctor: My A1C is way down, 5.8, almost normal. Turns out that what I've been doing the last three months is pretty much the definition of a keto diet -- meat, fish, chicken, vegetables, a little fruit and some whole grain carbs, no junk food and very little sugar. Who knew. Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius, Dreaming of Elsewhere at January 18, 2024 03:56 AM (omVj0) 340
A small bug is crawling across the carpet. Dagny La Siberienne was torturing it, but then she lost interest. Even cats have their limits as hunters. "Not worth my valuable time, yo."
Guess I'll have to handle it. Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius, Dreaming of Elsewhere at January 18, 2024 04:00 AM (omVj0) 341

Have you ever cοnsidered about including a little bit more than just your articles?
I mean, what you say is fundamental and everуthing. Howevеr think about if you added some great photos or video clips to give your posts mоre, "pop"! Your content iѕ excellent but with pics and video clips, this blog could certainly be one of tһe very beѕt in its niche. Good blog!
