The Quotes Of The Day

Quote I

“Thank the good Lord, we need all the 80-year-olds to get out of there. I will tell you that includes Trump and Biden. We got to get past all of these senior citizens that are sitting there staying for decades and years and all of that.” Former SC Gov.Nimarata Nikki Randhawa Haley

And we are tired of career politicians who blow smoke up our anal orifices.

Quote II

'You did not tell me as a woman of color, it would not matter what I did. My motive, my talent, my ability and my character would be constantly attacked.' Fulton County GA DA Fani Willis

Perhaps she and the NYC DA and NY State AG are prosecuting Trump because he is white.

Quote III

“The guy is knocking the ball out of the park,” Gary Leffler, a Trump supporter and caucus captain volunteer

We need a judge like this guy here in our country. Nutella? Oh FFS.

One of the most exciting decisions for new parents is what to name their newborn. Some moms and dads go with traditional names while others use something a little more unique. Sometimes the less popular names can be quite beautiful, but there are many cases where they just wind up being bizarre and occasionally really bad. Here in America, no matter the name, it is pretty much allowed, but that isn't the case everywhere. In France, names need to be approved by a court, and the name one pair of parents picked was deemed so unacceptable that a judge promptly changed it and banned anyone from ever trying to use it again.

The pair picked the name Nutella for their little girl, but the French court rejected it. According to French paper La Voix du Nord, the judge explained the decision stating, "The name 'Nutella' given to the child is the trade name of a spread" and that it is "contrary to the child's interest [because] to be wearing a name like that can only lead to teasing or disparaging thoughts." He then changed her name to Ella.

New Jan 6 Footage Shows Capitol Cop Perjured Himself, Lying About Whereabouts & Altercations with Oath Keepers.

Video evidence has emerged implicating Capitol Police Special Agent David Lazarus of having committed perjury in the prosecution of four members of the Oath Keepers organization for actions during the January 6, 2021, U.S. Capitol riot. The video, released by The Blaze, shows time-stamped security camera footage that directly contradicts sworn testimony by Lazarus as to where he was during a critical 20-minute period during the riot.

The security camera footage appears to indicate that Lazarus would have been unable to witness the events he claims he saw involving interactions between the four members of the Oath Keepers and Capitol Police Officer Harry Dunn. Lazarus and Dunn were both critical witnesses for federal prosecutors in the Oath Keeper case – and hailed as heroes by President Joe Biden and former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.

Like anything will happen to the Deep State's pawn.

Dead’ Man Jolted Back to Life by the Intolerable Bumps of India’s Potholes

They breed anger and derision; they cause annoyance, discomfort, and even expensive repairs, but India’s famous potholes actually saved a life on Friday.

67 I know the USA in France have always had a competition. Both countries should be proud of this, because their opinions impact people far from the shores. I’m the most pro USA person ever but I have to give France their due. I know that a lot of the French bashing that goes on in this country is because we consider them a rival. no I am no French cultist or anything, I know what team I’m on.

But this naming issue is something I’m gonna go with a French on. And my job, I keep encountering names that are crazier than ever. The new American thing is to name your child a regular name but use three or four extra letters to them “special”. It seems most of this is about the parents being original, and none of it has to do with giving the child a good name that will help them in life. Not to go to deep into it, but it is kind of weird that a human being is saddled with a name for their entire life that they had nothing to do with.

I’m no expert on the legal system, but I heard once that in France, you have to be tested to get on a jury. You have to be challenged and prove that you are super intelligent. In America to get on a jury you have to prove you’re a total idiot. I think

Was watching an interview that Tom Bilyeu had with someone and he mentioned in passing that he doesn't believe in conspiracy theories. Yes, people like Schwab are running things, they are running them badly, but...they do mean well.

And why do so many soft conservative people end up making these statements? Time and time and time again the WEF types make our lives worse. Schwab says he wants to do bad things. He does bad things. We get bad results. And yet soft conservatives are out there arguing, "Oops look this guy that got to the top of the elite stack screwed up again! What a coincidence!"

164 Folks in my neck of the woods seem to thrive on weird first names and unusual spellings. Having grown up with an odd first and last name (which I am still always having to spell), I feel for those who are stuck with the odd names. My first name was a shortened version of an ancestral name, and not the result of trying to be unusual. I changed my name to something I considered to be more "normal" when I was in the second grade, but that lasted only until Mom realized the name on my first report card was not correct.

Perhaps nicknames will make a popular comeback for the kids around here.

A former Capitol Police Lt. by the name of Tarik Johnson, a black guy as you might guess by his name, is very vocal on Twitter. He quit his job after J6, one of those guys everyone always says "Why won't they just give up their pensions and tell the truth" actually did.

He knows exactly what happened on J6 and is not shy about saying what he knows. He claims the current head of the Capitol Police is the guy blocking the release of all of the video from that day. He also says the guy is the most corrupt person in DC. Powerful too because of what he knows about DC pols.

Right now the only thing Joe has to run on is J6 and the threat of insurrectionists taking power. The country has been brainwashed to believe Trump and his supporters are criminals. Hell, Trump is being charged with it. I think if the truth comes out before next November the entire axis of the election changes up and down the ballot.

Wouldn't surprise me - the AWFLs love her.

Her only drawbacks is that she is lazy, hates white people, and is a terrible politician.

Those aren't really problems now - given Biden's precedent, she doesn't have to campaign - all she had to do is give interviews to media lapdogs, plus a few shoots for Vogue.

When she gets elected, she can just go on perpetual vacation, and let the Deep State run things, just like Biden.

Only Iowa voters registered with the party can cast their presidential preference in the Iowa caucuses. Iowans who are not registered to vote, or not registered as a party member for the caucus they want to participate in have the ability to register on caucus night.

To register to vote, Iowans must bring a valid form of ID and proof of residence. Voters are also required to be 18 years old by Nov. 5, election day, in order to register. People already registered to vote must still bring an accepted form of identification in order to caucus. Valid IDs include driver’s licenses, Iowa Voter Identification Cards, military IDs and U.S. passports.

238 Trump will be the nominee. I’m sure of that one. If he is not the nominee, there will be real issues in this country. We have to have the ability to vote for the person we believe should be president. Trump opponents don’t want to admit the reality that half of his base will never vote for them ever this isn’t Hillary versus Jill Steiner whoever it was. This isn’t about party unity, my ass or whatever those dumb Libs did.

I like Vivek, and DeSantis, but this is not their time and they will never rally Trump voters to a victory in 2024.

I think we all learned a lot about how deep the corruption goes in DC in the last 5 or 6 years. I don't expect any of them to actually be charged and face the fates they deserve. It sucks but that's reality. Garland or more realistically Lisa Monaco's DOJ isn't going to charge them. But the Russia hoax did get exposed and now nobody but drooling idiots on the left even mention it and Trump is going to be the nominee.

My hope is that the American people will see the truth and what has been going on in DC despite what the media says and say enough. What is going to save this country is not indictments in DC it's the American people taking back this country from the so called elites and reclaiming it for all of us. 297 Some more back story on Nilsson and that song: he heard the Badfinger song at a party and mistook it for Beatles. He wanted to cover it for his next album and looked for that "new" Beatles song at his friends house, discovering that he was wrong. Flash forward he signed on a hot producer where Harry gave creative control for his next album (post surprise hit from the Midnight Cowboy re-launch of "Everybody's Talking" on the soundtrack). Harry had a VERY different notion of how "Without You" should go and he clashed with the producer for the entire production of the album. At the end Nilsson submitted and belted out the album version in one take. It was a global hit, the biggest of his life.

Speaking of people whose names are initials. It is interesting that anyone with B and J can go with their initials, and just sounds right. I’m not sure what is about the letter J but it just works for initials. You have BJ, J D., DJ, etc. but if your initials are LR, that would sound really weird. Our English language is interesting.

I think the probability that Trump would pick Haley is so close to zero that it can be safely discounted.

Another candidate might be subject to pressure by the party to pick a specific running mate, but at this point it's clear that Trump has Zero Fucks Given status when it comes to the uniparty.

391 A word on Captain Beefheart: I echo the simultaneous 1/10 and 10/10 comment @Tom Servo made.

He did not know anything about music, so he was unconstrained by our conventional shared understanding of rhythm, tonality, harmony, even what sounds instruments should make. All he had was raw artistic vision.

But he cut through so much musical BS we don't even notice because we're so used to it.

For some reason I cannot understand, Emirates Airlines had Trout Mask Replica on their playlist several years ago. I defy anyone to listen all the way through it without your ears bleeding. Here's what they had to say: "His challenging 1969 masterpiece sums up the enigma of the late Don Vliet. Produced by his childhood friend Frank Zappa, it remains an uncompromising, brutal, and imaginative work. While it sounds like nothing else, the energy and raw musical talent have influenced legions of artists after him."

My personal faves are "Ant Man Bee" and "Moonlight on Vermont." Then, of course, there's "The Blimp."

I know she was Trump representative at the UN. But then, again, if you are a Republican presidents representative that the UN that tells me a lot about how highly they think of you. I guess what I’m saying is I never warm this woman never appreciate it what she put forth.

Burgum announced an unusual goal for a Republican: to get North Dakota to carbon neutrality by 2030.

However, he rejected transitioning to renewable energy, a central step that climate scientists say is needed to accomplish that goal. North Dakota is a major user of wind energy, but it is also heavily reliant on oil, natural gas and coal, and Mr. Burgum does not want to fundamentally change that. He argues instead that, by using new technology to capture carbon emissions, North Dakota can become carbon neutral while continuing to rely in large part on fossil fuels.

What it is? Playing lip service to the Warmunists by pretending to do something about the harmless gas CO2. So pump it under extremely high pressure into depleting oil fields. Liquid CO2 is a great solvent for hydrocarbons, so it can enhance recovery. The industry likes it, and by cooking the books the right way, you can be "carbon neutral" without giving up fossil fuels.

Trump can pick whomever he wants. I don't think people are realizing what Trump just did. He's been pounded by the left for 7 years, investigated, indicted, hounded with lies in the media and he just won every single county in Iowa and won the caucuses by the biggest margin of any Republican in history.

Trump is now the de facto leader of the Republican Party and no amount of donor money is going to mean dick. He can do whatever he wants and the Party will come to him. Those who have been claiming for months that Trump is toxic could not have been more wrong.

477 458, some of our best presidents and our best founding fathers were Presbyterians. For a religion that has always been a minority and is certainly a minority now they have punched their weight as American patriots.

The modern Presbyterian, if you go with the Presbyterian Church, USA are garbage they blaspheme the religion, and they attack this country at will. That is one group that is dying and being reduced every day as churches leave that denomination. if you took religion aside and were just a student of US military history, the Presbyterian stood out well beyond other religions as a fighting group, but fought for this country.

Carbon sequestration as an end in itself is a fool's errand, since putting carbon dioxide into the atmosphere is not causing Global Warming. The more CO2 you pump into the air, the more carbon gets sequestered by plants. It's what plants do.

But pumping CO2 into depleted oil reservoirs enhances recovery, and gains back energy that was used to compress and pump it. Might even be a net gain.

I would suggest James flexner’s biography from the 1960s. Don’t go with Joseph Ellis. The man did a good book about the founding fathers called founding brothers. I admit that was a good book, and he really engaged the reader.

But Joseph Ellis trashed, Washington to gain plaudits. He also was one of those educator who stole valor, look it up.

Yes and no. And I think this is beyond Trump and the voters know it. I guess I'd like to think this is the Founding Fathers' revolutionary spirit once again giving tyranny the middle finger. Normal people who pay attention to things that matter understand the state of the nation. Is it enough to rebuild? Maybe. Like the revolutionaries, they knew what time it was even though they had hard odds.

But the populace knows the endemic corruption and fraud in our system and it remains the persecution of Trump that's driving it home. All credit to Trump to withstand the onslaught and the early voters to stay in the fight. They know what Trump did and they are essential.

Is this music in the tradition of Western Music? Is the anything remotely like a waltz? No. But it is still music as it is composed sound and it is done with absolute mastery of what was intended.

Does it make me want to strangle puppies. Nope. Do I want to dance to it. Nope. This is what 20th Century classical music is like. So is Zappa but with electric guitars. Johnny Greenwood gets into this same place with his There Will Be Blood score. He is more tonally centered but he is plowing the same field.

Everyone has to be true to who they are. my suggestion is read about Washington the thing about that man is the more you read the more you learn, and the more I can help you in your own life. This guy is a case study not because grade schools teachers say it so because I know today they say it isn’t so. I am saying you can learn so much from reading about Washington. It’s almost a steal, because no one admits the case but it very much is the case.

I personally would go with Flexner first, there is also Douglas Southall Freeman, who basically wrote a day by day biography that encompassed all of Washington’s life. Freeman also wrote about Robert E. Lee. That would get him canceled now even by Republican conservatives. I say forget them, and read what Southall Freeman had say.

By the way, the recent hard-core conservative idea that anyone who fought for the south was a horrible Democrat is a dumb move. I have discussed the Civil War many times here, and, of course, slavery was the cause of the Civil War. But it is just damn dumb for Republican conservatives to trash anyone who fought for the CSA as horrible Democrats. The

565 Sure this is the long discussion and I’m willing to debate it with anyone. But as conservatives like Mark Levin and many others I’ve gone all in on the idea that the confederacy was based on Democrats. I get their point, and I understand what they’re trying to do politically. But they have to know they are also trashing good faith people who lived in the South. They are telling their own people their own voters. They’re most consistent voters that their forbears were bad.

I am not defense, the CSA I have always said that slavery was the cause of the Civil War. But I think it is sad that modern conservatives choose that as a cuddle against the Democrats. The Democrats are horrific they are against everything that America represents. But to anyone who fought for the CSA and their lineage as democrats or an American is just wrong.

We had so many events in our nation of reconciliation between the two fighting groups. Using the modern terminology these people should just keep the CSA in the people who fought for them out of their mouths.

576 I like Mark Levin. But we see, so often how people need to stay in their lanes. On a recent show, Maron stated that 58,000 people died in the Civil War. It was pretty obvious that he got that figure from the number of casualties at Gettysburg. Those weren’t death they were casual I believe around 11,000 died.

It might seem like a one off, but this guy is riding books and he’s telling us how to live and to be honest with you. That is an incredible error. Over 600,000 men died in the Civil War modern technology says it’s closer to 800,000.

In the movie, remember the Titans, the great actor Denzel, Washington also states 58,000 died at Gettysburg. I remember when I was young, we used to say more people died at Gettysburg, then in the Vietnam war. it is a lie it is wrong and it’s been perpetuated by conservatives and liberals. 10,000 died at Gettysburg and that is horrific. But what is also horrific is that we state something that is just not true flat out not true and easily proven as false

20th Century music is something to behold. It is a good thing the 20th classical composers were into music; if not they would have blowing up hospitals and setting nuns on fire. It seems they wanted to destroy 1000 years of classical music a lot of the time and did. American 20th century music (this includes all the great European music that is built on ours) is a miracle in my mind and over the last 100 years redefined what Western music is all about. There is a case to be made that that Chuck Berry guy will remembered will be remembered in 300 years like Mozart is today. It took me some years to latch on to Zappa - I am a product of rock and roll and Zappa is a product of, well, who knows, except he is profoundly original. We have had the joy of living through a part of a singular century of music in real time. Today I have developed some perspective about all of it and have come to firmly believe 20th Century American music, et al, is modern classic music while the 20th Century classic guys are the coda to a 1000 years of European music. I so love this stuff.

Just looking. Charge temp range for these damnable Li-ion batteries is 32F - 113F. If you charge them below 32F, a misreaction starts occurring which deposits lithium metal on on the electrode sides. Enough of this, and things go firey and splodey.

Discharge temp range is -4F - 140F.

If you're outside those limits, you're fucked. Temp drops below -4F, and you've got a big brick sitting there. Wait 'til Spring thaw.

To say I heard it does not capture the whole damn thing. There was some serious magic in the air that night.

624 606, unlike almost every other southern state, Virginia, never banned open carry. It is perfectly legal to walk down the street in Virginia with a side arm.

The Virginia citizens defensive league did so much in the 90s and early 2000s to expand carry rights around the nation. But Youngkin, second amendment, freedoms are under assault in Virginia. This state led the way in the 90s ask other second amendment organizations they always tell you the Virginia citizens defensive league lead everything. Right now I see nothing being gained and only losses. Well, many states have gone with constitutional carry. I don’t see that in Virginia’s future at all. it is a shame. The state that really sent this off to the nation has back down and they can’t get it done.

There should only be constitutional, all the rest is at best, a huge tax every few years. I know this is true because I’ve paid it way too many times.

I was just reading the cold weather Tesla crap. You need to "precondition" the battery for charging in cold weather. Basically, you've got to plug it in to AC power, and use that to heat the battery. Not charge the battery, but heat it (using resistance heater, I guess).

So, sucking lots of juice just to keep the battery warm.

And turns out, that preconditioning is buggy, and doesn't work like it's supposed to a lot of the time.

This is just a joke.

Well, if Mrs B goes back any time soon I'll have her grab an extra. I got a funny story about a swiss army knife. I started carrying them waaaay back when I was in the scouts. Had one all through high school. In my very early days of asshole metal guitarist I ended up in a hotel room after a show, and this chick had a bottle of wine, but no cork screw. You can't make this shit up. The swiss army knife I had at the time didn't have a cork screw. I used the screw driver of the swiss army knife to pull a screw out of the towel bar in the bathroom and screwed it into the cork, then wedged the screw head between the bathroom door and metal door jam and yanked the cork. Been a believer ever since. lol

673 Name your favorite Swiss Guard rifle.

Mine is the Remington Rolling Block, in 12.7 x 45 Pontifico chambering.

There's about 30 of them remaining in the Vatican racks. And about ONE box of the ammo, known to exist.

I don't want to OWN those. Too rare, and precious.

But I'd love to don the white, cotton gloves, and get to fondle the beastie, I would.

History LIVES, when it's held in the hands of one who knows, and understands.

That rifle would again, for a moment, regain it's martial spirit and design. And then sadly, I'd have to hand it back the curator, so it might sleep again, for untold dozens of years.

Nope. All they had was one line that stated battery temp operating range: 32 deg F to 120 deg (or so, don't remember high range limit).

Un-frikkin-useable.

Posted by: Jimmy Doolittle at January 16, 2024 02:51 AM (OZHzF)

689 MOST Swiss Army Knives aren't sharp enough to do much of a damn thing, anyway.

Y'all open up those blades, and dress them with a Lansky System sharpener, or some such other system as to put a TRUE EDGE onto a blade. Then, get back to me.

Oh, and a 3" blade with the half closest to hinge, serrated? THAT is your best seat-belt cutter, of them all.

And an "automatic" Center-Punch, such as Machinists use to dimple the metal to be drilled?

There IS NO BETTER TOOL, with which to shatter the glass of a car from which the occupants must escape.

One such, needs to be permanently packed into a secure location IN yours or your loved one's cars. And YOU need to keep one handy in YOUR vehicle, too.

And if a BMW owner parks across three spaces? You can send a special greeting, yes?

690 Being the engineer, I read the manual. They state that if the battery has been left outside in lower than 32 deg F for over an hour, you must throw it away. I know, it's a snowblower.

That includes shipping, and where you store it. So, be careful with this ticking time 'devices'. Don't leave em in a cold shed.
Posted by: Jimmy Doolittle at January 16, 2024 02:37 AM (OZHzF)

The harley dudes always screw their batteries up by not having them on a trickle charge over the winter. They can handle cold if the battery has a full charge, but if it gets low on charge and the temperature drops the battery goes to shit. The battery in one of my bikes is probably 6 years old and is still good. Some of these chuckleheads don't get a year out of them. The other mistake is not bringing a new battery up to charge before putting it in the bike. The assholes at the store always tell them oh its charged, you're good. Uh...no, its not. It needs to be brought to over 13 volts before it goes in the bike. I have seen too many batteries got tits up in less than a week from that.

697 667, berzerker, are you way ahead of me on that one. I would’ve likely pushed the court down as a last ditch effort. Trust me it’s not worth doing. Then again, you should have a suicide knife with a cork screw. I legit believe getting a cork out of a wine bottle is legit intelligence.. I have been there a few times and if you could do that you were going to make waves.

Posted by: Quint at January 16, 2024 03:08 AM (NevXa)

698 I had a Swiss army knife for 30 years. The smallest scissors were the best you could ever have they would cut hair from your nose that type of thing, etc.. Those small scissors for sure came in handy so many times it’s not even something you could measure.

The large knife with sharp, the small knife with sharp, and if you had to do it, the corkscrew was there. I personally would not go with that type of corkscrew as there is inherent flaw in the system go with the waiters corkscrew. But the Swiss army knife never let me down. There are a few products that do that these days very few that have so many who support them.

699 I have a 1"x42"belt Craftsman Belt machine.

With belts going down to a 2000 grit, and then a leather belt with white rouge compound, I can get a sufficiently hardened blade to neer Obsidian sharp.

If your blade ain't that hard, it's going to fold over into a wire edge, and I can't help you.

Pro tip on such a machine. Be CAREFUL, or you'll over heat the blde due to friction, and it won't BE that hard, anymore.

In other words. Patience. And a Light Touch.

700 Have the French ever figured out how, for the first time in 900 years, Notre Dame cathedral caught on fire and burned?

Odd to think that France had better fire protection hundreds of years ago, even when men were away fighting the Crusades.

Posted by: Miklos ponders at January 16, 2024 03:12 AM (9WMo9)

701 I think the French realize that they suffered a terrorist attack. Western civilization has been under a terrorist attack for 10 or 20 years. I don’t think anyone will get to the bottom of the Notre Dame terrorist attack because there’s nothing in it for anyone. Making light of that is the same as making light of the end of western civilization.

If it was some 'immigrants' of the religion-of-pieces then they may not want to divulge it since it would inflame real Frenchmen and they might demand some action from their globally-aligned politicians (read cowards).

I don't know if any of you saw this on Pixy's thread a couple of days ago, but some guy with a "smart washing machine", an LG model, noticed that his washing machine was uploading over 3GB of data per day.

His fucking washing machine was sending 3GB of data every damned day. The mind boggles at what was going on.

Whatever you do, don't get any of these "smart" appliances.

704 A network sniffer could capture that traffic so he ight figure out what was going out. I would tell the router to block all traffic to that machine - I think he couldn't stop the traffic once set at the machine.

705 Morning, early early risers! Yesterday in Da Swamp was cool and damp, with a fine drizzle in late afternoon and falling temps. 'Tis 33 F. now, due to fall past freezing this morning. I keep hoping my employer will tell us to stay home because of icy roads, etc. I have to cross one big bridge to get to my office, and people here have no idea how to drive in the dry, let alone the wet or with ice.

My Buick is FWD, so I'm not worried about traction. But I will need to slow down -- here, a recipe for getting run over. And I just know some imbecile will go swerving from one lane to another at speed, spin out, crash into some other imbecile, and block the road.

This "IoT" shit (Internet of Things) is a security nightmare. There were several security exploits for LG stuff I remember. A hacker could gain access to the LG shit on the local network and take it over. Botnets and such.
