  • Streaming platform Twitch is laying off another 500 staff. (Tech Crunch)

I was thinking that would be perhaps 5% of their staff.

    I was wrong.

    It's 35%.

Which explains a lot about Twitch. 1400 staff is not a lot of people to run a global video streaming platform with literally millions of channels. I'm impressed it even works.

Of course, 900 staff is even less.

Yes, I believe so.

A couple of days ago I was listening to Seb Gorka's radio show, and he noted that the Loony Left and MDM-MSM (BIRM) were speculating that Melania had left or been murdered (again!) by Donald, which is why she hadn't been seen around him at events.

Of course, as Gorka pointed out, she was at the bedside of her ailing mother.

I can't wait 'til it's open season on these scum ... but I digress.

Easy answer: Intel's 14th generation desktop chips literally are 13th generation chips. They've adjusted the core count on the 14700 vs the 13700, and clock speeds on other chips, but inside they are the exact same silicon.

So if you can get a good price on last year's model, go for it.

Fake news happens on both sides of the isle. Torontonians told me about the coffee the police there brought to the Hamas protesters the other day.

Apparently the protesters were cordoned off in their own area and there was another cordon blocking anyone else from getting to them.

Family or supporters brought them coffee but they were barricades from getting through. So they asked the police to take it over to the other side of the street.

Not the story we've been fed by our own side, is it now?

You can even leave them unbaited. If they're the wooden snap trap type, just charge the trap. Little vermin hug the walls as they go around and will run over them and "SMACK"
Just make sure that the kill bar goes toward the wall on snapping. Else you end up shooting the mouse into the middle of the room.

83 I have sticky traps under places where I saw the mouse come out. Couch, recliner, some other furniture. Along the walls too. Mice I have caught in the past, the sticky traps caught them. I was told sticky traps are cruel and inhumane. I answered that yes, that's why I use them on mice, not humans. People are dumb.

93 Watching a video last night of a couple taking Amtraks auto train for the first time. Leaving Lorton, VA. to Sanford, FL.

Lotsa fun and waiting to get your car loaded. I guess the train was delayed getting to Lorton, but still.
This couple had a sleeper room which was "compact" or in my peoples language, Too Damn Small.
They were to leave around 5 PM. They finally departed around 8. They had paid for dinner and were the 3rd seating, so they got dinner around midnite.
Other delays because they were delayed in leaving. A crew change, and other fun things meant they got to Fl about 2:30 PM. by the time they got their car and got to the expressway...it had taken 24 hours to transport them on what is a 12 hour drive.

Sign me up!

Based on our investigation, the compromise was not due to any breach of X’s systems, but rather due to an unidentified individual obtaining control over a phone number associated with the @SECGov account through a third party.

We can also confirm that the account did not have two-factor authentication enabled at the time the account was compromised.

124 CO bans Trump.

Germany: Hold my Stein...

Last week, Germany’s domestic intelligence agency took the dramatic step of classifying the Saxony state branch of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party as a threat to democracy—a potential first step towards banning it outright as unconstitutional. “There can be no doubt about the extreme right orientation of this party,” declared Dirk-Martin Christian, president of Saxony’s State Office for the Protection of the Constitution.

Although Germany has, in the past, exercised constitutional powers in the name of domestic security to rein in hardcore far-right (and radical leftist) forces, the objects of censure were marginal neo-Nazi parties and associations that had no chance of coming to power—even at the municipal level or in coalition governments. The AfD is a different story. Opinion polls show the AfD as the strongest party by far today in eastern Germany; riding a powerful wave of anti-immigrant sentiment, it has also notched record tallies in western German state elections and is poised to win the most votes next year in the country’s eastern half.

130 In one study, nearly 80% of children who had shown signs of gender dysphoria didn’t comprehend the disorientation and resulting confusion that they felt. In a 2021 research project among young boys, nearly two out of three eventually realized that they did not seek a sex change but, in fact, were gay.

So it seems some medical professional are uncomfortable with gay kids. But then that leaves them with a choice of doing something or do nothing.

Maybe leaving the sex questions aside and trying to treat the depression (something like 4 out of 5), autism (about same), and other mental illnesses would be closer to do no harm.

Easy answer: Intel's 14th generation desktop chips literally are 13th generation chips. They've adjusted the core count on the 14700 vs the 13700, and clock speeds on other chips, but inside they are the exact same silicon.

So if you can get a good price on last year's model, go for it.
Posted by: Pixy Misa

---

If you can find the 13500 in a unit it's something special. A model didn't pass thermal testing to be rated a "K" model, maybe, and sold for less but with extremely close performance to the 13600K but that also operates at half the power? I've been reading lots of reviews about them lately and it seems to be a hidden gem of the last couple of generations.

174 Morning peeps

The only good thing that can come from sub-zero/freezing temps is that if it lasts long enough it'll kill off some bugs.

We had a really gross fly infestation a couple years ago. They were everywhere, and there was a lot of them. This, after an unusually mild couple of winters.

Last year it was cold and this spring/summer, fewer bugs. Still annoying, but less so.
