Guys do you think your wife is planning on killing you? Take the test.

Whether you and your wife are newlyweds or have been married for several years, this thought has, at one point or another, crossed your mind: "Is my wife planning to murder me?" Though determining the answer is not easy, there are warning signs.

She listens to podcasts about wives murdering their husbands: Sure, many wives do this, but your wife takes notes. Not good!
She always says things like "If you died, would you want me to remarry?": Yeah, it's over for you.
She has a large collection of Stanley tumblers that are heavy and sturdy and would make a great blunt weapon: Have you seen the size of those things?
Her Amazon wish list includes hydrofluoric acid and large plastic barrels: We both know what those are for.

He was not unhoused; he was unhousable, by virtue of the fact of being a raging alcoholic who would not subject himself to the discipline necessary to earn the wherewithal necessary to be able to afford housing, nor submit to the rules imposed by the naive do-gooders who provide free housing to bums.

The old saw used to be that Boeing had a fuselage machine and they cut to length and placed wings on it for different models.

Now, I'm not so sure they can even build reliable planes off of the existing successful blueprint. But I bet every email in the company has the preferred pronouns.

110 14 "Evan was unhoused."

So tell me dear Hordelings, is that term any less descriptive than 'homeless'?

Nah, I didn't think so either.

Posted by: Tonypete at January 10, 2024 10:05 PM (IaTa3)
----
Now 'unhoused' is less descriptive than homeless as it is more vague. You may ask whose house is he unhoused from? Was he dehoused as in evicted? Thrown out by the owner as a nuisance or drunk. Was he ever housed? Too vague.

'Home less' tells you right there almost with mathematical accuracy. Home is where the heart is, etc.

To be exact it should be 'homeleast' as the person has no home, zero home, nada. Totally exposed to the elements of wind and water (and fire if we count the Sun). I'm not sure about earth, I'll need to consult other alchemists and perhaps Druids.
HOWEVER the 'less' may confuse into thinking it's just a downgrade, as in going from 3 bathrooms to two bathrooms. No such confusion with 'least'.

How about 'roofed' and 'roofless'. Roofies ..... wait, ... that's a pill?

172 I’m afraid the Boeing DEI crap has been going on for at least twenty years. A friend who works at the Everett plant invited me there for an open house that many years ago. The centerpiece was the diversity exhibit and how every worker there represents “every part” of America.
Topping it all off was a light in the loafers clown (The Bubbleman) who while putting on soap bubble show for the kids, had to begin lecturing about the evils of the dreaded SUVs. It being a weekend, I’m sure 70% of the visitors arrived via those very vehicles.

Right. Dressing up as the other sex to do something that only that sex is allowed to do is not being "transgendered". It's just being sneaky. I suppose that could be done for either honorable purposes (such as women enlisting to fight for their country) or dishonorable purposes (such as dressing up as a chick to sneak into the women's locker room). However, in neither case does the person believe, or pretend to believe, that they're actually the opposite sex. Ergo, not "transgender".

185 So...I have been building a machine table to support a small bandsaw and other power tools. Got the bandsaw bolted down, and a motor bracket made, motor mounted, and hooked up to the belt. Let's see if it will run... Motor would not start under load. Tried lifting it up, and it started, but as soon as I put a load on it, it quit. Take a closer look. Doh! It's a 230 volt motor, and I am trying to run it on 120 volts.

Consider switching to the 120 volt motor I have, which came out of a washing machine. Oh. It's 2 speed, needs a starting capacitor, and I don't know the wire color assignments. Back in the box. Well, I have a 240 volt outlet, lets put the right plug on the other motor and try it on 240 volts. Whirrr, SNAP! It started under load just fine, the bandsaw blade made a few revolutions, and the rubber tire on the rear idler wheel disintegrated, causing it to throw the blade. Fortunately no damage to me, or the blade, but I am shut down until I can get new tires for all three wheels on the machine. Seems they are available, in urethane.

Submit to the meme, or watch your career die... I know, I was one. The Captain I worked for at a School Command, was in charge of the board who decided who made rank for senior enlisted. HE looked into it when he saw I was not promoted (records are supposedly made anonymous to the board)... because HE thought I should be promoted, and in fact had recommended me...

But once he took a deep dive into my record, and saw a low rank on 'Equal Opportunity' on ONE F'n evaluation... HE was the one who confirmed what I had already discovered.... non promotable.... no matter what.

There are a whole shit ton of problems you don't have to deal with in all male commands. Problems that WILL impact readiness, and combat efficiency.

Problems you don't need, when the other guys are trying to kill you.

I wasn't specifying all poofters or turd surfers. Though, most should be discouraged, as a matter of course.

But some of them are still MEN, and fight as warriors ought, and should. Exceptions can be made.

But, "men" who dress and prance and prentend to be WOMEN?

I'll stand by my original prescritions. NONE should be in the Armed Services, ever again.

Butch Dykes can be allowed, long as they acknowledge they're still WOMEN, and berth and bunk, accordingly.

265 The woman hanged after Lincoln's assassination was Mary Suratt, and that was a shameful affair. She ran a boarding house that some of the conspirators had met at, and her son was definitely involved - but he got away and got out of the country. There was nothing more than thin circumstantial evidence to link her to the plot, but they were so mad that her son got away that, long story short, they grabbed his mother and hung her instead. And Boeing is looking at a hydrogen-fueled plane (would love a fire - plane gone probably as fast as the Zeppelin did) and also electric planes - will recharging take 8-12 hours? Would one trust a battery to deliver dependably?

I've mentioned this previous, but the energy density (per kg) of jet fuel is higher than the best you can theoretically get with the latest wiz-bang electrical batteries, AND, as a plane flies it uses up fuel, lightening the load, while with electric you have to haul the battery weight the entire distance...

I have mentioned this before, and you can check it out, but there is more hydrogen in a gallon of gasoline than there is in a gallon of liquid hydrogen. Not a whole lot more, but definitely more. Jet fuel, I think, would be a toss-up. But in either case, the gallon of hydrocarbon fuel is going to contain a lot more energy, because you have the heat of combustion of that hydrogen, plus the heat of combustion of all that carbon.

393 Anyway, I can go ahead with mounting the motor for the bandsaw. It ran for a few revolutions until the old cracked rubber tire flew off the back idler wheel, so I know the motor mount scheme I have worked out is sound. I can finish bolting the motor hanger to the table, and doing the wiring, and once the tires arrive, install the new tires on the machine and it's ready to use.

I'll find a good double-pole toggle switch to interrupt both hots of the 240-volt line, and mount that in the cabinet, with a wire to the motor, and one to a 240 volt, 20-amp plug. I have a compatible outlet in the garage here, and a heavy-duty extension cord that will reach anywhere in the house. And I will put a power bar on the outside of the cabinet to run the 120-volt tools, the bench grinder and the drill press.

3rd one says: "Oh, no. God was definitely a civil engineer."

"Huh? How do you figure?"

420 Morning, all you insomaniacals! I'm up only about forty-five minutes before the alarm, which is good. And both cats slept with me on the bed last night, at least part of the time. It's not that cold -- only about 52. Maybe they were bored.

Got to work out this morning, as the cold is supposed to settle in by tomorrow (though we expect 40s in the early am, and though damp, that's not bad for exercising).

I was living in the 'burbs in the early '80s; seem to recall some flakes in Jan. of '85. The mercury thudded down to 13 on Christmas Eve '83, but no snow.

The big snowfall was 2-3 days before Xmas in '89. Stuff fell and stuck around for two days because the temp never rose above freezing. Took me two hours to get home from work. And all the people who didn't wrap their pipes after the last freeze had them freeze and burst again.

It snowed at New Year's of '64, I think, my first kidhood experience of it.
