The Quotes of The Day

Quote I

“I have been working to make sure that Donald Trump will be able to be on the ballot, and I am happy our motion to dismiss this lawsuit was granted,” Wyoming Secretary of State Chuck Gray

Quote II

“This was a riot and at some point, mature minds have got to kick in here and say, look, he has never even been charged with incitement, let alone rebellion and insurrection.

“But more importantly, putting aside the fact that he hasn’t been convicted, this wasn’t a rebellion or insurrection."Jonathan Turley

I wish the family of Ashli Babbit the best in their lawsuit against Uncle Sam.

The family of Ashli Babbitt, who was shot during the Capitol event on January 6th, 2021, has sued the United States government for $30 million.

On Friday, the family of Babbit filed a lawsuit against the U.S. government, asserting claims of wrongful death and negligence.

On January 6th, 2021, Babbitt was shot by U.S. Capitol Police Lt. Michael Byrd during the event at the Capitol in her left shoulder as she was trying to climb through a barricaded door near the House Speaker’s Lobby and died at a nearby hospital.

Are you skeptical that there is a "Deep State" in place? This should scream at you, Yes, there is a Deep State! Just who the hell was running our military when the Affirmative Action Secretary of Defense was MIA?

Defense Secretary Austin Scandal Is Even Worse Than We Thought

When it was first reported on Saturday that Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has been in the hospital since January 1, it was natural to assume that key figures in the Pentagon and the White House, for whatever reason, chose to keep his hospitalization a secret. What possible motive could there be for doing this? Who knows? It didn't make a lot of sense, but the Biden administration has an extensive record of covering up scandals, so it wasn't exactly out of character for the Biden administration to cover something up.

The truth that has been coming out over the course of the day suggests something far, far worse. According to the latest reports, not even the White House knew about Lloyd's hospitalization.

"Senior Biden administration leaders, top Pentagon officials and members of Congress were unaware for days that Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin had been hospitalized since Monday, U.S. officials said Saturday, as questions swirled about his condition and the secrecy surrounding it," the Associated Press reported. "The Pentagon did not inform the White House National Security Council or top adviser Jake Sullivan of Austin’s hospitalization at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, until Thursday, according to two administration officials."

That's bad. Really bad. And it gets worse.

A source familiar with the situation told CNN that not even Joe Biden knew.

"National security adviser Jake Sullivan ultimately informed Biden late Thursday afternoon, soon after Sullivan himself learned that Austin had been hospitalized, that source said. Austin was admitted to the hospital on New Year’s Day due to complications from an elective surgery," CNN reporte

But Trump said "Pussy".

Woman Working 3 Jobs Says She's "Drowning Financially" and Is in Credit Card Debt
A single 20-something says that, even with three jobs, she feels like she's "drowning financially" every month. Here's the full story.

Woman feels like she's "drowning financially" as a single person with 3 jobs.
While many millennials have slowly come to grips with the fact that the "American Dream" set before us is dead and gone, it doesn't mean we're prepared to struggle our entire lives. Ideally, most of us would like one, maybe two jobs highlighting our passions and skills while providing enough money for us to actually enjoy the things we work hard for and to not make working our personality. It's really that simple.

As Rep Clay Higgins pointed out, Babbitt was in a highly vulnerable position, not to mention un-armed and posing no immediate danger. On top of that there were other cops in the immediate vicinity that made no effort to stop her. Normally, any cop that fired in that situation would be in a world of trouble.

Or imagine what you would face for shooting an un-armd intruder crawling through your window.

Her murder was an example to deplorables.

130 The thing with Grubhub they don't care about the burritos. It's a well-known scam for the drivers to launder money from stolen credit cards.

They take stolen credit card numbers and order multiple large orders from the same place, putting in GENEROUS driver tips, then they pick up and deliver the order.

They're able to get multiple orders out of most stolen cards because most people and banks don't flag orders for food delivery. And if questioned the driver can just claim he has no idea he's just picking up the order.

134 I was watching Chris Williamson interview Bill Perkins. Perkins is known for arguing that people should aim to spend all their money before they die.

He's made a ton of money in his business so he isn't arguing that people just blow money and then get on the government teat, but instead to think about the value of the money you are earning versus the value of the time you are earning it with - note he's targeting the small business go-getter types that save save save not the FSA army types.

He makes a lot of good points, but one thing I find fascinating....he mentioned that he wrote a book but what he really wanted to do was make an app...that would tell you what you should do. Should I go on vacation...here? Pick up this work contract...there? Etc.

And this is a fascinating thing I see in the modern era...people looking for someone not to give them advice but to specifically tell them what to do. The interview: https://youtu.be/-8TTW957qDQ?

Three years ago today I witnessed and documented Capitol Police Officer Michael Byrd shoot and kill unarmed Ashli Babbitt. It changed my life and how I view January 6th forever.

Since then he has been promoted to Captain and raised $164,206 via GoFundMe.

There has been no accountability but as of yesterday a $30M wrongful death lawsuit was filed by Aaron Babbitt.

Since January 6th is used as a modern day Reichstag Fire for the Establishment I’d like to use my platform to dispel rumors surrounding what actually happened.

I’d like to think I would have avoided one though.

They can afford to pay the taxes they already have to pay

Part of the problem is that they way, way overestimate how much money billionaires have.

The Federal government has spent $1.04 billion since the beginning of the fiscal year on October 1st (up 17% from 2023, BTW), or about $300 billion a month.

Elon Musk is worth $244 billion, so even if you confiscate everything Musk owned and were able to monetize it (a big assumption) that wouldn't pay for a month's Federal spending.

254 Sven, the drama around Claudine Gay is taking a new turn yesterday and today. Bill Ackman was the very wealthy Harvard alumni who called her out for her genocide comments and started working on the Harvard Board to dump her. Then the plagiarism evidence came up, and she resigned. On Friday, far left outlet Business Insider launched a pre-planned attack on Ackmans wife, accusing her of plagiarism as a kind of pay back.. (having looked at the evidence so far, the accusations look absurd). But this is just the start.

The Hahavahd "Crimson" my God how apt that is "the reds" are sitting on billions and can outlast Ackman. Ackman thinks this is about anti-semitism and I have seen NO evidence he has been "red-pilled" in the sense he is now suddenly anti-donkey. He has a grudge against the educrats on this one issue.

Look I am happy Gay got scalped, it humiliates Urkle and it is a good thing but let's not go winding each others' clocks yet....

I am happy often to be wrong but my read on this is that the left will destroy two or three collateral targets, declare that the anti-semitism is fixed and try to move on.org.

They will fail on that by the way so long as the Israelis are beating in Hamas' heads, because they cannot prosecute the Hamas superfans here and will wind up giving them coffee and handjobs like Pierre Castreau is in Canuckistan.

IDF releases picture of wanted Hamas military chief clutching wad of US dollars

Selected excerpts:

The image shows Mohammed Deif, the leader of the terror group’s Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, casually checking his watch as he clutches a half-full plastic cup in one hand and a wad of US dollar notes in the other.
:
The new image shows the grey-haired 58-year-old sitting on a sandy bank in front of two pairs of shoes and alongside an unidentified man, who appears to be counting a stash of US dollars.

This looks like the Palestinian version of sharing a ciggie after they've finished exploring the Hairy Tunnels, and are now settling up. I think many Hamas fanbois will have real problems with explaining this to others.

"this scandal simply highlights that valuable and esteemed BIPOC scholars simply have different modalities of academic evolution and we must respect ALL styles of learning."

The academics cannot not hire them, it is like the NFL where the best qualification a coach can have right now is a tan. Their suicide coalition relies on their appearing to be the morality pets' only avenue of success and this scandal actually rewards the worst actors right now.

360 [Movie Thread Hijack]

So The Holdovers yesterday.

Not a fan of director Alexander Payne but this movie was *excellent*. To get right to the point it's HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Available on Peacock if you have it but it's also already out on divvy-dee/bluray.

It's about a boarding school history teacher getting stuck taking care of a student left behind over Christmas. The story is really good, the performances are excellent and in a maybe kinda sorta unintentional way the movie strikes me as being fundamentally conservative.

Honest to gawd, this movie is worth giving a chance. It's got award ambitions but it's not pretentious. It's got a really good story that ends very well if a bit bittersweet. It's worth the two hours and may kind of stick in your head afterwards.

*Very* happy I watched this. You may enjoy it, too.

It's been OK, almost over
Posted by: Skip at January 07, 2024 11:19 PM (fwDg9)

Which one? I watch a few Russian movies/tv series with English subtitles. I enjoy the WWII ones because of the different perspective. For example, Nazis are never shown in a good light Ever. And the secret police are all upstanding people of good moral character and judgment. Spotting the propaganda bullshit is half the fun.

Posted by: RickZ at January 07, 2024 11:35 PM (emlEe)

I've watched a lot of subtitled Russian WW2 movies on utoob. As you say, they give a different perspective on that war. The biggest difference between the Russian war movies and US/Brit war movies is females in the combat zone or close to it. Snipers, nurses, and HQ radio operators and clerks. So you get love interest scenes during combat and/or competition to be the girlfriend of the best combat soldier or the commander of a unit.

A recent Russian WW2 movie I highly recommend is a four part made for TV series, "The Dawns Here Are Quiet." Free on utoob. Women in combat against the Fascists, led by an exasperated senior sergeant who comes to respect them.

417 Tonight,

I hosted the Nightwatch clan for a traditional "Turkey Soup & Sourdough bread roll dinner. Given the fact it was in the mid 40's,(YES LA SoCAL) Nightwatch struck a warming fire with some oak wood and heaped it good in the fireplace. But this time, my daughter took it upon herself to tend to the fire, adding wood and stirring the coals...much a duty that my son's would have done in the past and they did not try and prevent her from her task. I let her go with it and did not question why she felt so compelled.

MosFilms tend to have older, Soviet-era movies, and some of these are quite good.

My favorites are the WWII intelligence ones.

A different series I thoroughly enjoyed was 'Detective Anna', about a psychic 'bothering' the police in 1880-1900 Russia.

Then, after half an hour, I realized the movie had been dubbed in Russian.
