Because (a) they're green even when they're ripe, so you can't tell that they are ripe, and (b) when they are ripe, which you can't tell anyway, they last about three days before turning into inedible mush.

6 Well, that's a good start for the day. Evening and morning to all the peeps. 'Tis 46 F. outdoors and chilly-damp and I'm trying to muster the nerve to go work out. I haven't gone since Monday; Wednesday was rainy; and I probably won't go tomorrow.

Kittens are good and I slept decently last night. Maybe laying off the Sweet 'n' Low for my coffee has helped with, uh, hydraulic pressures; I was up only once at some point, and got back to sleep after (dreaming about meeting with a realtor to discuss what I want in a house).

8 Went to the clinic yesterday and had blood drawn. Probably won't see the results until I meet with my dr. next Thursday, but I'm hopeful the changes in my diet have made big changes in my blood sugar.

35 My next door neighbor (when we were in Hawaii) had papaya in backyard. I climbed the tree to pick some, and landed on a $%^*&^% centipede --or something what stung my foot-- when I hit ground. Hurt like hell and felt like I was walking on a baseball for about a week.

But a few have managed to simply unite in Christ, which is what I believe is the Best Way to deal. Others... just so judgmental. Sad.

My uncle was *so devout* in his Catholicism, that when Dad asked him to be Best Man at his & Mom's wedding, uncle said he'd need to obtain some kind of Dispensation from The Church (because Mom & Dad were not Catholic)... what a PITA. So, Dad said "never mind" and asked a cousin instead. No problemo!

Ours got under the shed last summer in the 100 degree heat, rubbed up against the pine sap and wound up with a dreadlock on her back that we just now managed to clip off.
Hard to make progress when you can only cut a few hairs at a time.

58 I have paw paw trees and produce a few 5-gallon pails per year. They do keep well for more than a few days, perhaps a few days +1. This year I discovered how to extract the pulp from the skin and seeds with very good recovery. I have a 5-gallon carboy filled with pulp, but it is not separating and I may have to get very creative with what comes out in the end. Next year I will freeze dry the pulp and it will be shelf stable. Perhaps to be made into smoothies or paw paw pies.
The quince juice fermenting on the other hand.....

My wedding was kinda embarrassing. My wife was a Catholic schoolteacher who also taught CCD (different name now), and ran the Girl Scout program (which she switched to something else). She handed out invites to the service to all the youngsters, who needed parents to bring them.

'Her' side of the church? Filled from front row to last, easily 500 people. My side? Maybe 50. Candlelight service with mass that took hours. Then the reception line for everyone which took another 36 hours.

Funny thing is the Catholic school that my wife first taught at closed down about 20 years ago. But when Philadelphia public schools went virtual during early covid that school opened up again because of parental demand. The Catholic schools in this area stayed open throughout and I never saw a single issue in the local media.

Catholics are not supposed to actively take part in the worship services of other bodies, because they do not have the fullness of Truth, which resides in the Church, from its institution by Our Lord.

Though, as per right now and at numerous times in the past, it can be obscured for a while by bad actors.

So while we can appreciate the good things that other denominations have retained from the Church and the good well-meaning people in them, we are sad for the lack of what they have lost.
We just want everyone to come home.

I'd suggest adding the pulp to store-bought apple, grape, etc. juice (make sure to buy bottles with no additional ingredients except citric acid) in different proportions. And be sure to write down your recipe for each bottle. You don't even need bubblers to narrow it down to a decent starter recipe. I don't use balloons but just barely loosen the tops and monitor for the end of fermentation.

I think the horde has talked about him before, but the DIY Fermentation fellow on the youtubes is a great place to start if you are wine-curious.

Well, I'm going to just call it a night or day. I was trying to get SSH key-based authentication going on a Linux install here at casa Miley-Publius.

It wasn't working, and I spent 2 hours going through all sorts of configuration files, trying to see what could be wrong.

Turns out all it was a typo in the user "authorized_keys" file. When I pasted a key in, that copy and past left out one character at the beginning of line. It should've read "ssh rsa". The paste error inserted "sh rsa".

So, duh. And that's all it was.

They're interesting cards. 16gb and performance out the yin-yang, but the drivers might not always be as up to date as Nvidia and support for older games might be lacking. The big question is if it's worth the additional $200+ for the other cards.

I don't know the details but apparently if it's paired with a newer Intel processors they work together to do certain tasks *extremely* quickly. Deep Work or something?
