Their continued vigilance to ensure that people can get to their destinations safely is demonstrated daily, and Christmas Day was no exception when they prevented a traveler from bringing a loaded handgun onto a flight. It’s absolutely unforgivable to bring a firearm to a security checkpoint." I told you so. You told them so. We all told you. But no you wouldn't listen because you were too busy virtue signaling us. Blue Cities Went All-In for Electric Transit, But the Buses Couldn't Handle the Cold Virtue-signaling liberalism is fighting another losing battle with reality. On Wednesday, the Minnesota-focused news outlet MinnPost reported that several of the state’s largest cities have encountered significant obstacles in their quest to achieve planet-friendly public transit. Frigid temperatures and a myriad of other problems have plagued Duluth and the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul during their transition to zero-emission buses. Are tarpon tasty fish to eat? I have no idea. But this guy had plans. Florida man goes fishing in Bass Pro Shops pond, flees with live 50-pound tarpon Florida deputies said the suspect fled the store with the tarpon in hand It sounds fishy. Fishermen I know usually mention length of the fish not the weight only. Quite the Tourist Trap. You can climb on giant Little Debbie snack sculptures at this park in Tennessee If you love Little Debbie snacks, you might need to take a pilgrimage to Little Debbie Park, which opened earlier this year in Collegedale, Tennessee, about 30 minutes west of Chattanooga. It's filled with the normal things you'd find at a park—a playground, picnic tables, benches, etc.—but what makes it unique are the giant play sculptures in the shape of your favorite Little Debbie snacks. According to The Takeout, Collegedale-based McKee Foods, which makes Little Debbie snacks, purchased ten acres of land from Southern Adventist University and donated it to the city of Collegedale for the purposes of creating a public park. The Home Alone movies were for entertainment. Not a business guide. Oh it's Spirit Airlines. Never mind. Spirit Airlines Magically Brought ‘Home Alone 2’ To Life By Putting A Kid On The Wrong Plane To The Wrong Destination Even back in 1992, when air travel was a lot less TSA-heavy and stressful, it still seemed unlikely that a kid could pull a Home Alone 2, which is to say board the wrong plane, bound for the wrong destination. And yet some three decades later, when air travel is incredibly TSA-heavy and stressful, a young boy miraculously managed to go full Kevin McCallister. She was looking for Big Wood and found it. Too bad she didn't find a shrink's couch. ‘Ecosexual’ Woman Claims She Is in an ‘Erotic’ Relationship with a Tree A woman who describes herself as “ecosexual” believes she is in the midst of a love affair with an oak tree. The woman, Sonja Semyonova, 45, claims she connected with the tree during her lonely, solo walks in the summer of 2021. Those walks began in 2020, during the coronavirus pandemic. It was the same year that she moved to Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. “I was walking a path near the tree five days a week for the whole winter. I noticed a connection with the tree,” she said, explaining that she had been “craving that rush of erotic energy that comes when you meet a new partner, and that is not sustainable.” “The presence I feel with the tree is what I’m looking for, but that’s a fantasy with a person,” she said, further describing her experience with the tree. “The feeling of being tiny and supported by something so solid. The feeling of not being able to fall,” she said, further describing her “erotic” experiences with this tree, although she said she does not have physical relations with the oak. “I would lie against it. There was an eroticism with something so big and so old holding my back,” she continued, asserting that there are major misconceptions about ecosexuality, which the environmental group the Sierra Club describes as “unabashedly queer.” Planning is not his forte. Tensely awaiting the cowboy's toss, the riata coiled as though ready to strike, and strike it soon did. Sailing out from the cowboy's hand, the throw was true, but the wildly swerving target gave the lasso a bum steer, and fell to the ground, spent, and seemingly lifeless between the hulking lines of F-150s on either side.
Sullenly, the cowboy started to gather up the line, while his partner inquired casually: "you think that there rope is daid?" To which the cowboy replied: " 'e ain't daid, 'ees just pining for the Fords!" Jim Sunk New Dawn Galveston, TX Posted by: Jim at December 26, 2023 10:35 PM (e6UQI) 147

My dad gave me a nice but not fancy 3 inch pocket knife that I carry around all the time, comes in handy. I had it in my briefcase for a weekend trip and completely forgot it was there when I took a trip to Minnesota the following week. Made it out but TSA found it on the way back. The agent took me across the hall to a local bank that had an office at the airport and they mailed the knife back to me free of charge. Was watching Williamson interview some Alex O'Connor who is a full on "there is no free will" ethicist.
And the guy it entertaining no doubt and he is smart but...it really does end in nihilism. The one thing I thought was really of interest, they spent a lot of time talking about what you should do with someone that does something seriously wrong - murder, rape, etc if they didn't really have the ability to control their actions (you see where O'Connor is going with this considering his predilections). But...this took an interesting turn when they then got into pedophilia. And O'Connor continued the same line from before, we should segregate these sorts of people in essentially a "nice" prison as opposed to punishing them. And he had to mentioned something to the effect of "it wasn't that long ago we criminalized gay relationships you know" So two things that come out of all this 1) Yes gay marriage led to every damn thing the "bible thumpers" opposing it claimed that it would 2) You can't be part of the cool leftwing kids anymore without having a passing good word for pedos can you? With that Spirit flight I think what happened, as they have no codeshares, that passengers in-the-know, as soon as Spirit did a second delay (the flight was first delayed three times, for a total of four hours, then canceled just before LaGuardia closed), rebooked for later flights.
Since Spirit flights are dirt-cheap they're always full, hence no available seats between NYC and Chicago for 4 days. My solution has been to simply pay a couple extra bucks and never ever fly them again. Posted by: LenNeal at December 26, 2023 11:29 PM (/BBNv) 289

So many of our killings/murders here are so mind-bogglingly dumb I genuinely do not comprehend why anybody gives a shit or why any of them ever even go to court.
Part-time prostitute gets strangled in a garage over payment as the service rendered was unsatisfactory; spouses stabbing each other; drug dealers shooting each other; single-car drunk driving wrecks; the vast majority are stupidity squared and no amount of Law seems to have any lasting effect on any of the behavior. Occasionally we get an actual murder-murder and those I support prosecuting, but the vast majority are the result of idiocy so staggering I just cannot bring myself to care. I started up a game as the Hittites and at the start your ruler's heir is his grandson, and yet his son still lives. So I looked it up, and sure enough we have a tablet from ~1300BC that mentions after King Hattusili was mortally wounded and returned home he was so annoyed with his son that he passed the succession on to his grandson. Okay, I hope whoever asked about the "Age of Aquarius" got what he was looking for. This just sent me down a rabbit hole trying to understand something. THe symbol for the vernal equinox is that of Aries. And this is a convention used in serious astronomy. In the equatorial coordinate system, (0,0), the origin is right at the "first point of Aries" by definition. But wait a minute, the equinox is nowhere near the constellation Aries, it's between Pisces and Aquarius, which what all the "Age of " nonsense is about. So WTF? Well, you see there is the tropical zodiac system and the sidereal zodiac system. The former always begins at the vernal equinox of date, and is called Aries, always. The sun is thus in the "House of Aries" for 30 degrees, or 2 hours of right ascension. The sidereal system is where the constellations actually are. Most of the hippie chick astrology nonsense is based on the tropical zodiac system. Posted by: publius, Rascally Mr. Miley (Mzdiz) at December 27, 2023 12:58 AM (Mzdiz) 406

>> For us peasants does that mean that we are in the age of Aquarius or that it begins in 2600?
Per the IAU definition of the constellation boundaries, it begins in 2600AD. Now, those boundaries aren't of equal angular width. Some demand you divide the sky into 12 equal sections of 30 degrees each. Well, and fine, but where is the start, where is the origin? Nothing jumps out, and it has to arbitrary. So, doing it the equal angle way, you've got about 800 - 1000 years to play with. So, the Age of Aquarius could've started several hundred years ago or up to 2600AD. I've had three black people jump down my throat for wishing them a "Happy Kwanzaa" so I'm never doing that again. One was a devout Christian, and informed me that it was invented as an "anti-Christian holiday." Another was Gullah and informed me that the Swahili terms appropriated for it are East African whereas Gullah people likely descend from West Africans -- so, not her culture. Another, just because it was a made up thing.

Posted by: JQ at December 27, 2023 *** Howdy, JQ! Yes, I think they are. Stirling bounded in to sit on my chest when he heard me stir. Dagny is doing her standoffish thing -- but both of them slept with me during my nap yesterday. I'm taking Miss Linda to the big thrift store in the 'burbs today. While she's there I'll nip over to my mechanic and see if he's gotten his wheel-balancing machine in yet. I'm hoping I can get the wheels installed this week. Linda wants to go "someplace nice" and have a cocktail. But I have no idea where to go, and she can't specify either. I'm thinking the bar in a nice hotel? I dunno. When I was a drinker I did most of that at home, not in bars. Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius, Dreaming of Elsewhere at December 27, 2023 04:00 AM (omVj0) 482

Edelman revealed that Cheney herself secretly orchestrated an unprecedented op-ed in the Washington Post by all ten living former Defense Secretaries, including her father, warning against Trump’s efforts to politicize the military. The congresswoman not only recruited her father but personally asked others, including Trump’s first Defense Secretary, Jim Mattis, to participate.
The Jan. 3 letter which Cheney’s friend claims she “secretly orchestrated,” was based on conspiracy theories that were being advanced by Democrats in the weeks following the November election. Posted by: SMOD at December 27, 2023 07:08 AM (RovqD) 490
