My friend in West PA has a daughter in her senior year in HS. She was looking into ROTC but she decided otherwise, for obvious reasons (our military is a woke nightmare). She now has a scholarship at Pitt-Bradford. Good school to go to if you're into hunting and fishing (she is). Good redneck gal, she is! Her Dad has connections in the medical community so she should be able to get some more financial help. I pray for her and her brother. Not a good time to be a kid.

I share the same concerns which most other Hordians here have. However, it should be noted that other European NATO nations are experiencing EXACTLY the same recruiting problems as the U.S is. So it's not unique to Biden & Miley's bullzh*t.

I worked for one for 30 yrs. Most local travel was/is done in "g-cars," i.e., the office motor pool vehicles. If the govt wants to convert the g-cars to EVs, the fed employees will obviously learn to live with that.
As for getting to & from work, I don't know how that will play out. In the deep red parts of America, there are no subways. Buses & Metrolink will require a massive lifestyle shift. I can envision more carpooling to avoid them.

I actually had a radio for mine, but never installed it. It was a Motorola radio. Powell Crosley had sold the Crosley Radio Corporation, and they would not build one for him. Of course, car radios are, and were, a different sort of beast, and manufacturers of domestic radios were not necessarily up to snuff with the special requirements of auto radios.

He should also have volumes of regulations targeted, in order to give the Federal Register notice that they'll be withdrawn and opportunity for the public to comment where applicable. I think you're pushing definitions pretty hard to call a HotShot a "sports car," but you could build a sports car out of the components, and a friend of mine did. AOP walked us through an engine overhaul: it had a lot in common with the Offenhauser. Suspension, if not "advanced," was highly adaptable. This guy built a chrome-moly tube frame, and played with the springs and geometry for a very long time, eventually coming up with a spritely little runabout.
No, it was not objectively fast, but sports cars weren't then, mostly. It did feel like it cornered at 1G.

I don't blame your wife for thinking that way. Having used plenty of outhouses in my life, one at a family place and the others on Scout camping trips, spiders and snakes are things to be fully aware of when using any outhouse 'facilities'. Since I was in colder climes, not too many lizards, but them too in more southern environs. Some can do more damage than others but they all have some form of "biting".

There was one porcupine incident at night years ago, she screamed like a banshee when she saw it and the thing twirled around and wiggled its quilly ass at us. I wielded the flashlight admirably in defense and she retreated to the tent. It's been downhill from there.

My fear using a outhouse at night was the distinct possibility of running into a grizzly bear. Let me tell you how fast I could dash to the outhouse, do my business, and back to the cabin at night.
It felt like I out ran the flashlight beam.
I just knew that behind every noise in the dark woods was a grizzly or worse waiting to grab me during my nightly constitution.

Porcupines are completely unaggressive, but fiercely defensive. I met one in the bush one time. I was carrying a long-handled axe. I looked at the porcupine, and it looked at me. I reversed my grip n the axe, and used the end of the handle to just touch the porcupine's nose. Wham! Porky swung his tail around, and knocked the axe clean out of my hand, and it fell several yards away, and Porky wandered off.

My wife's a country farm girl and accustomed to the outdoors and all. But there's an interesting dichotomy between farm people and city people like me. The first thing that had to happen for DEI to die was an acknowledgment that it even existed. I don't want to belabor the point but we are not a representative view of American society. Most people had no idea how perverse this garbage was before the Bud Lite stuff. Hell, most people still don't know BLM was not a civil rights movement, it was a marxist political movement. Even the leftwing Boston Globe is after Harvard now.
And then we needed someone with enough balls to stand up to what is happening and take the unbelievable amount of heat that comes with saying exactly what is happening and not back down. Someday people will look back on Trump emerging and creating a movement as a turning point.
We are finally just beginning to fight back. We are going to lose a lot more battles before we win but we will eventually win. Freedom always beats commies.

My father's parents' wilderness dwelling was all outhouse, all the time. There was a smallish crock of lime with a scoop in the corner by the door with which you were expected to cover, lightly, your contribution to the pile(s) -- it, too, was a two seater. The lime definitely suppressed the odor.
There was a story that this was the "new" outhouse because my Dad had burned down the old one through his careless smoking of a cigarette in it. His punishment was to build the replacement (he was in his teens at the time).
