The Morning Rant: Minimalist Edition

punk-monkey.jpg

It is tempting to assume that every technological answer is the best answer, but there are tried and true methods of doing some things that resist all attempts at modernizing them.

Voting is one of those. It's hard to beat a simple paper ballot for robustness and imperviousness to cheating. Does anyone think that they make cheating easier?

And physical barriers against most things...work! Lock the doors and shoplifters can't get out or burglars in. That moat surrounding a medieval castle worked very well for several hundred years. Sure, there are high-tech ways to defeat them, but when your enemies are low-tech, what's the point of worrying?

Homeland Security watchdog concludes barriers most effective at curbing illegal immigration: FOIA

Potential responses to illegal immigration studied in the report included sensors, cameras, mobile surveillance radars, a pedestrian fence with anti-climb capability, a vehicle fence and the deployment of additional agents.

Much of the 225-page report is redacted, but in every single area studied, a pedestrian fence was seen as the "most cost-effective." In several areas, the inspector general recommended a combination of sensors, cameras and radar alongside a pedestrian fence or to have a pedestrian fence with vehicle impediments incorporated, but overall, the most frequent recommendation is simply a pedestrian fence.

"The main takeaway from the audit is this: Physical barriers work. They successfully impede illegal traffic into the U.S. and do so at a cost-effective rate. Ultimately, the old adage that 'good fences make good neighbors' holds true," the institute said after publishing the report. "And, the only safe, humane and reasonable approach to deterring unlawful migration across the southern border of the United States is to construct a 'border wall.'"

A significant number of the illegal aliens pouring into America simply walk or drive in. No stealthy flights to remote airports, no miles-long tunnels..nothing but feet!

So a nice thick and tall wall or fence, designed intelligently to prevent scaling over or digging under will prevent the invasion. Sure...some will get in, but this is a perfect example of the perfect being the enemy of the good. Let's keep 95% of the law-breaking wetbacks out of our country with the simple, inexpensive, and well-understood wall, and then we can concentrate our technological prowess on the remaining 5%.

Hell, I'll bet that most of them don't even climb anything...they simply walk past our border guards who have undoubtedly been ordered to stand down.

I love this country, but I am outright hostile to the ruling class that seems to think it is theirs to do with what they wish. I hope and pray for a sea change in America's attitude toward them!

And if that means lamp posts and lots and lots of rope...so be it.

That includes Dementia-Patient-in-Chief, too.

Make them walk the walk, as it were. At least then they can assume the same risks we great unwashed do.

Will it? These parasites aren't "sneaking" in. They are walking in and announcing they are claiming asylum. They know exactly what to say and how to do it, because they've been coached by NGOs. While their bogus asylum claims are pending, they get to remain in the USA. It's beyond insane.

You can put up all the walls and moats and laser-headed sharks you want. These parasites will just find the official entrance and walk in.

The only thing that will slow the invasion (maybe) is requiring these cockroaches to remain in Mexico or wherever else they came from while their bogus asylum claims are pending. But that would involve mass deportations pending such determinations. Ain't gonna happen.

74 Another way to help with expanding populations is to follow the research line to develop undersea cities, then you can build undersea settlers and move population there.

It helps if you also develop the undersea maglevs to move troops around a bit more easily.

If you've been investing in your public works since the civilization's foundation at 4000 BC, then this shouldn't be a huge exercise, especially if you've combined that with pro-growth policy and government types.

Has anyone brought these thoughts to our government's attention?

Yes, of course they will. But all of those alternate options will be higher risk and more expensive, reducing the flow of dollars "back home" to the Cartels.

It would help in combination, especially if the tax is punitive - leaving only *very* high-risk options. Couple that with a harder time getting money (punish employers who hire them) and aggressive deportation when caught, and it would make a difference.

There is no perfect solution.

What you're describing is a nullification crisis, which is what I would actually like to see happen because there is a non-war outcome that is in the realm of possibility. Three possible outcomes of a nullification crisis:
1. The feds capitulate
2. The states capitulate
3. Nobody capitulates (civil war)

And yeah, what you're talking about *would* happen. Federales go to arrest state congressmen and executives and state cops doing, for example, border control. Then the federales get little if any cooperation from the state, and the state arrests the federales. Eventually, they negotiate a settlement or go to war.

But war is not the *only* possible outcome, which is why I favor it.

One of many reasons that I hope Tennessee does what it is considering on education funding.

Short version: TN has a healthy economy and state finances are strong. It can afford to reject federal education funding - and the federal strings that go with it - and go it alone. If they do, it is going to be very, very interesting. The NEA will have a tantrum and there will probably be strikes. The amount of foreign (well, out-of-state) money pouring into elections will be staggering. The amount of federal retaliation is unknown but will likely be severe.

It will be very educational if TN does it.

But right now we get all sorts of lawless destruction from the left, with almost no pushback. FBI given another year to secretly harass and threaten conservatives using lawless searches and spying ... AG still covering for Biden and other crime families. ...

That is the only way forward.

But again, this is more pissing into the wind.

I've harped on it for the last couple of days, and I will continue to harp on it, in the Junta's first term, they will have let in illegal aliens that totals in excess of a quarter of the black population and double the Jewish population of America.

This is going to literally transform the country overnight.

203 Walls work but 'we've' - all of our government is complicit - allowed millions upon millions of illegals to enter the country while also undertaking humanitarian parole for certain (more & more) countries; publishing policy manual guidance in August that applies to 'stateless noncitizens' in the United States (that'll turn out to be a dilly for the U.S.); ever extending and increasing the Temporary Protected Status for several nations, some of which have been in the program for decades; keeping big money entry visas going; DACA, and so much more.

It's all by design and the "anchor babies" and/or alleged anchor babies from an sundry 'entry' programs have already doomed (jobs, housing, education) much of the middle class - at the minimum.

What a shame our government couldn't have controlled the borders while vetting and increasing LEGAL immigration/refugee programs.

imo, all.

208 All true. But as I did point out, it's not just these illegals actually replacing legal workers that keeps wages down. It's the threat of replacement that also does this. Any time any person knows he can be replaced, that person is more pliable and willing to accept things he wouldn't otherwise accept.

220 I worked for 23 years in civil litigation. Document requests only produce smoking guns by accident, usually by documents that accidentally slipped by due to numerous copies and/or too voluminous to fully review. Sickening but true. The answer - hire as many government employees as you can to catch all those accidents so FOIAs are never an issue. We're well on our way with the bloated staff to review aspect and no doubt regular system purges will cover the rest. Such is life where lack of ethical responsibility and corruption is the norm

And neither is much more expensive than the competition, which isn't unexpected anyway as they're big, established companies with spotless track records.

What will happen is like Pakistan kicking out the Afghani refugees right now. Pakistan got what they wanted out of them as a supply of terrorists to attack the US there--they are of no use now and are being forced to go back.

What you are seeing is basically a government run by intel agencies via kompromat and as a matter of historical record--they are fools, traitors, and criminals. We are in about the same position where the Soviet Union was in the 1980's where the public by and large believes nothing that fedgov says anymore and is increasingly hostile to it.
