  • US Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo has called out Nvidia for selling advanced AI chips to China in compliance with her own regulations. (Fortune)

The Department of Commerce blocked sales of Nvidia's most powerful graphics cards to China, so Nvidia sent less powerful cards that complied with the regulations.

The department blocked those sales, so Nvidia sold even less powerful cards... That were assembled in China in the first place.
"It matters not if you obey the rules I have set forth. If you endeavour to design a chip around a particular line that enables the forces of evil to explore AI, I shall move to control it the very next day," Raimondo said. "And now at last it comes. You will give me the chips freely! In place of the Dark Lord you will set up a Queen. And I shall not be dark, but beautiful and terrible as the Morning and the Night! Fair as the Sea and the Sun and the Snow upon the Mountain! Dreadful as the Storm and the Lightning! Stronger than the foundations of the earth. All shall love me and despair!"

My sister has an Ancestry dot com account where I've been able to access her DNA info, which is always changing subtlety as more people get tested. Eventually might get the answer from my mothers side as to whether Ireland or Scotland was origination. Not anymore - two factor authentication required.

The question I have is... who cares? Except maybe law enforcement?

Was talking to a lawyer yesterday about a class action lawsuit I'm involved in. My question to her was why in the hell are you letting this entity off the hook with a 20% bankruptcy? No answer.

I told her I ran the numbers and the payout per individual is a pittance for sexual abuse. No answer.

Is it because it was predominately male victims? No answer.

This morning I have to take the car to a local tire store I've used in the past, to repair a slow leak -- the tire is losing about one psi every three hours. Tried a local Firestone last night, but "We can't take you until tomorrow." I'll email my boss, and park with a permit near the office when I get in.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, it's 53 F. and about as dry as it gets here. I should go work out.

26 “This is the biggest threat we’ve ever had and we need to meet the moment,” Commerce Secretary Raimondo said.

“I have a $200 million budget. That’s like the cost of a few fighter jets. Come on,” she said. “If we’re serious, let’s go fund this operation like it needs to be funded,” Commerce Secretary Raimondo also said.

I grew up having to do drills in school where I dived under a desk out of fear of the USSR dropping nuclear weapons on the USA. That left a mark on my mind that nuclear weapons were the greatest threat the world has ever seen. With this in mind, I think that second quote reveals the true nature of the hysteria in the first quote. We are governed by totalitarians and they are idiots.

33 My 3rd run at making Chile Colorado from scratch was almost a complete success. The magic is in figuring out the proper blend of three different chilies, how to properly rehydrate them and the technique needed puree them into a sauce. We are not going to discuss the first two experiments because they were terrifying failures and I don't want to ruin your day. The fourth experiment Will be adjusting the chili ratios slightly and adding a bit more salt to the recipe.

Oh, absolutely. I hang out with 29 year olds and am amazed at how many have no idea about Russia, the laptop, the payments, etc., until I remember that those information is activley suppressed because we are no-joke moving towards, and are perhaps already well in, the soviet model.

I say in all seriousness that I can't imagine what it must be like to have grown up in it and only been provided happy-happy information except for the part where you're killing the planet and also your whiteness is evil your entire life, and watching the news remain exactly the same during 2021 and 2022, and then being told that things are better and back to normal in 2023. Not just back to normal but better than they've ever been, jack.

The signal is constant, and unless you've had elders trying to help you understand reality then there's no way to. And 98% of elders don't understand it, either, because the signal is constant. And the 2% that do only understand 2% of what's going on for the same reason.

I'm convinced it's an op. Feminists and gay men, the fashion industry, etc. to make women *make themselves* ugly on purpose.

It's not straight men convincing them to get very well done artistically but still intentionally bad-looking harsh huge black tattoos that cover up thighs and forearms.

It's prison-level stuff. Disjointed black-ink work that would be on males, put there by other males. In prison.

Popular with lovely young women.

Something I was thinking about a few years ago when I was getting a lot of daylight hours outside. I was thinking of getting a white ball cap with a gold Jerusalem cross (the Kingdom of Jerusalem's flag was the gold Jerusalem cross on a field of white.)

I was thinking: how many people would even get the context or what it was? 1 in 300? Worse? And whether people look at it positively or negatively is almost entirely up to them within the context of their knowledge. Does it matter?

So much of this shit seems too cute by half. *giggling* Oh hey, we are going to use an obscure Nazi symbol while canceling elections and prosecuting political opponents. I do not give a shit about their tattoos- what they DO is more than enough for me.

We need research. Insomniac refused to go to the nearby Villages but do we have a volunteer from Florida that can check on ink and gravity for us?

Anyone?

Usage 'trumpster' also makes me think it could be someone who may not frequent the site for other reasons and just wants to let everyone know someone passed away. Would have been nice if they provided a nic.

Yeah, charitable, but people are shitty enough without needing to go look for stuff.

187 I'm convinced it's an op.

One of the most valuable things I was ever told was by a nurse while I was in the hospital after a terrible thing had happened:

In the end, everything is going to be okay.

If things aren't okay, then it's not the end.

These are not 'sexy' times. Short skirts, booming economy? That's sexy.

These times are very reminiscent of the Carter years.

In the end, a third party candidate pulled a lot of votes from Jimmah, and Reagan won in a landslide.
