Yes Ma'am I do. It is a Jabba the Hutt origin story, except Jabba is played by an islamic woman. The Hutt people live on Tattooine, but the Jedis take over the planet and claim it as their ancestral home. The Hutts are all forced into Gaba City, and the Jedis build a wall around them. After years of living in their open air prison, the Hutts, lead by Jabba broke through the wall in an act of resistance. The Jedis then drove the Hutts back into the city. The Empire caught wind of the Jedi atrocities, they began to round up the jedis and send them to a prison planet. Then, to honor the Hutts, the entire galaxy converted to the Hutt religion, except the Jedis, who were forbidden. Wow wow wow. We have a winner! Near as I can tell a big overarching policy of the time, was to avoid pushing Soviet Union and Communist China together, insofar as they hate each other. In most respects this worked out pretty well. Until Clinton, Obama, and now the Biden fucksticks. While Russia was never going to be an ally there were several areas of common ground that were of value, incalcuble. Gone. Thanks to the leftist fucksticks in gubbmint. Henry had to know this, and alluded to it. But he was just some dumb old white guy. What does he know? Kissinger.
During RealPolitik ? Maybe you really have to do the wrong thing, just to keep the other really really wrong thing from coming down on your head, in the hope that you can do the right thing when you have the luxury of doing so. The thing about Kissinger Politik was that, once the Soviet Union fell, Kissinger Politik never stopped, even though we were the Lone Superpower for a while. We had the luxury of doing less than optimal things, because nobody could stop us or threaten us. That, as it turned out, lasted about a decade. We got nothing good done in that time, and a lot of bad. All because folks, without the menace of the Soviets, still wanted to play the Kissinger game. I don't miss the man one bit. Or those that never let his particular paradigm die. Posted by: How Things Work at November 29, 2023 09:35 PM (YgIdg) 283

2d, 3d, and 4th tier order of effects work like that.... Kissinger was master of the next 5 years not so much "and then what?" Using China as a hedge against the Soviets is what bought us the breathing space when we were almost certain to lose a conventional war to build the 80s force that would have kicked the shit out of Ivan by 86. That is an inarguable strategic success, the problem is when you do not have "Kissinger 2.0" when Dhimmi gets involved and Reagan does not really listen to you you are left holding the bag. Kissinger would probably have not allowed Iran to fall, and he viewed India as a hedge against Chinese dominance regionally. There are a lot of smart plays the US could have made from 1989-1999.....luckily we made none of them. Posted by: sven at November 29, 2023 09:45 PM (X0I7i) 309

NYT:
Henry A. Kissinger, the scholar-turned-diplomat who engineered the United States’ opening to China, negotiated its exit from Vietnam, and used cunning, ambition and intellect to remake American power relationships with the Soviet Union at the height of the Cold War, sometimes trampling on democratic values to do so, died on Wednesday, according to a statement that was released by his consulting firm. He was 100. He died at his home in Connecticut. Posted by: andycanuck (krqg6) at November 29, 2023 09:54 PM (krqg6) 332

Eisenhower didn’t seem concerned with the CIA dosing anybody and everybody in and out of the CIA with Swiss made pharmaceutical grade L.S.D. in the early 1950s.
The cover story was they were guarding against POW torture, but in hindsight they just wanted to fry everyone’s brain. Ten years after they dosed the largest cohort generation. “Everything is Love” “Tune In Turn On Drop Out” and “Make Love Not War” etc. The government created and funded both the war and the anti-war. I’m sure they know what’s best for us. Posted by: Common Tater at November 29, 2023 09:57 PM (l8IOH) 341

I’ll turn that around and say without the M/P there would be no Western Europe as we know it.
And I'll turn that right back around and say without the Marshall Plan, we wouldn't have paid for NATO for almost 100 years, while NATO exported European Socialism right back to us. You know, there was also the Morganthau plan. Let them farm in Germany and Japan. And stay busy with that. Partner, "You break it, you bought it" is EXACTLY the Marshall Plan. To the letter. Even if you break it because it was thrown at you, somehow the US must fix it. Posted by: How Things Work at November 29, 2023 10:02 PM (YgIdg) 348

Posted by: How Things Work at November 29, 2023 10:02 PM (YgIdg) Ahhh, this could be such a great discussion, but everyone went elsewhere. I'm of the opinion that if the cost of Western Europe not being overwhelmed by the Russians is the United States defending Western Europe while Western Europe not only won't defend themselves - but continually weakens us politically with rhetoric ? Fuck Western Europe. Sometimes you have to let people get what they asked for. Good and hard. Look at modern politics today regarding Islam. Regarding current American expectations in Israel and Gaza. All because of the Marshall Plan. Period. Posted by: How Things Work at November 29, 2023 10:16 PM (YgIdg) 350
