It took a couple of years to take effect, triggering off an apartment construction boom in Portland.

While I was under the dash, I removed the radio, which was literally hung there on scraps of house wire. It is an actual era-appropriate Ford radio, made by Canadian Marconi Company, with a big "Ford" logo pressed into the steel box. Since the radio is six volt, and the car will become a twelve volt car, I won't be using it, but it will go on the curiosity shelf.
And I took the vacuum wiper motor out, and tore it apart, and gutted it. Now the shaft with the linkage arms turns freely. It will go back in the car to act as a pivot or bell crank for the wiper linkage, and I will add an electric motor somewhere with a link to reciprocate the linkage off that pivot. There is plenty of room under there!

Some radios used in VW's were 6/12 volts; could be used either way by removing a small plug and inserting it the other way.
If it were important to me to keep the old tube radio, I could rewire it for 12 volts pretty easily. But it's not the radio the car shipped with, just a "will-fit", from some other Ford. And the car is not going to be a restoration, just a "patina hot rod", so a modern radio is not an issue. Or no radio at all. I have an old 8-track player. Should put that in it.

Sorry. I've known both, survivors and those who did not, as well as those currently undergoing the roller coaster of emotions of chemo. All our money blown for good in the Ukraine could have helped in so many types of research, considering we've already shelled out a cool billion. I meant what I said. I've worked at a lot of news organizations in the United States, and they're all the same.
They're all afraid of getting sued or yelled at or fired or humiliated. But interestingly, none of them are very afraid of getting things wrong. That's not a concern.
They're not worried about accuracy as much as they're worried about being unfashionable or saying something forbidden. What they're really worried about is telling the truth.

Not today, but tomorrow, I have to go in to the clinic to have blood drawn for my "numbers." Which means I can't eat or drink anything but water after midnight until my appointment at 9. Also not being said is that the much touted and much delayed "Ukrainians Counteroffensive" will, if it keeps on at the blistering pace it is now on, reconquer all of Ukraine in a mere hundred years. Although they will run out of Ukrainians long before then. Will we send in soldiers and fight the Russians directly? Will we find others stupid enough to fight for us (Poland says no)? Did you know that England has enough military supplies to fight for one whole week? Do you know that Russia is now receiving huge amounts of military supplies from places like North Korea? Have you noticed that the dollar is increasingly NOT the "worlds reserve currency" and is being replaced, due to OUR actions in seizing dollars from Russia (called theft) which causes the entire world to no longer trust the dollar? And when, not if, the US debt comes crashing down, what will we use to pay for all the manufactured goods that we offshored? Now throw in "the war on farming" and we won't even be able to EAT.
We have met the enemy, and it is us.

I have seen the map. Ukraine has broken through (after many months of costly fighting) the first Russian line of defense (in one spot only, and even there only partially in some spots). Only 3-4 more lines of defense (or more) to go. Say (optimistically), another several years of fighting at their current pace, although they will run out of troops long before then.
No matter how much rah rah there is, that is the truth on the ground. Maybe you really believe in the Ukrainian cause. belief is irrelevant, your believe changes nothing. It ill not bring the dead back.
