Grifting in Ukraine? Da Fuq?

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reportedly purchased a luxury mansion in Egypt through his mother-in-law, with evidence showing Western aid money given to Ukraine was used to buy the property.
Egyptian investigative journalist Mohammed Al-Alawi initially broke the news following his in-depth research and interviews with sources familiar with the matter. He disclosed that the Zelensky family acquired a luxury property valued at around $5 million in the Egyptian city of El Gouna.

Located in Egypt's coastal zone next to the Red Sea, the tourist city is famous for having many opulent properties owned by millionaires. In fact, right next to Zelensky's newly acquired property is an estate owned by actress Angelina Jolie – making the comedian-turned-president and movie star of "Tomb Raider" fame neighbors.

Be careful. Be very careful when the next Arab Spring hits.

If it were not so frightening on what is happening to Donald Trump the following would be downright funny.

Former President Donald Trump’s arrest and mugshot at the Fulton County Jail helped to fuel a $7 million fundraising push, according to a report from Politico.

Immediately after the mugshot was released, the Trump campaign immediately capitalized on the image. The campaign sold t-shirts, mugs, bumper stickers and more that featured the already iconic image.

Good on him. Defense attorneys are not cheap.

I look forward to the days of electricity provided by wind, solar, fairy dust and unicorn farts. But even after that happens power companies will still need to maintain their lines and power corridors.

The court filings allege that Hawaiian Electric Company (HECO) and its subsidiaries failed to properly power down live electrical equipment amid a red flag windstorm earlier this month.

Due to this failure, downed power lines operated by the utility company sparked a series of deadly fires on the island, the lawsuit claimed.

“The lawsuit alleges that the Defendants acted negligently by failing to power down their electrical equipment despite a National Weather Service Red Flag Warning on August 7th,” Maui County said in a release announcing its lawsuit.

Housing. Everybody requires it unless you are an urban outdoorsman/woman/thing/it. What is going on at the moment?

BidenomicsDangerously high mortgage rates under Resident MushHead. What will be the latest spin? Home purchasing privilege should be punished and punished hard?

Bidenomics is going great for you and me.

Home mortgage rates just hit 7.23%, the highest rate in decades.
CNN tells us that this is somehow good news, showing that the economy is roaring and happy days are here again. Sure, housing has never been this unaffordable in US history, but that is only because Biden has done such great things for the economy.

No, really. That is the explanation. It has nothing to do with all that money printing, inflation, government spending, or gross overregulation. It is the great economic times we have been having.

Higher interest rates? No problem, we are too big too fail and we have a remedy for those high interest rates.

Real estate marketplace Zillow has launched a new program to help people who want to buy homes but are being squeezed out of the market by a surge in interest rates.

Zillow Home Loans is offering mortgages with a 1% down payment option for eligible homebuyers looking to own property in Arizona, and will contribute an additional 2% at closing, the company said Thursday. It also plans to expand the program to other markets.

The Kinder, Gentler Tonight's Feel Good Story of The Day.

After an open-air museum took in an orphaned fallow deer, the little thing fell head over hooves for the owner’s 11-month-old daughter.

The deer, named Ziggy, was rescued and taken in by Jeremy Goldsmith who runs Mountfitchet Castle, a Norman castle and museum.

Goldsmith and the staff at Mountfitchet care for a variety of orphaned animals, and it took just a few hours for Ziggy to settle into her new environment.

Cops: Nurse Abandoned Dog At Airport
Woman, 44, dumped her pooch, then took flight to Mexico resort

AUGUST 24--Pennsylvania police have filed criminal charges against a woman who, unable to take her dog on a flight, allegedly abandoned the pooch at the Pittsburgh airport before boarding a plane to a Mexico vacation resort, according to court records.

Allison Lyn Gaiser, a 44-year-old nurse, is facing cruelty to animals, neglect of animals, and animal abandonment counts, according to a criminal complaint detailing the bizarre August 4 incident at Pittsburgh International Airport.

88 For the convert, there is much rejoicing. For while there is the promise for reconciliation to the Creator, one may dabble in the folly that one may both enjoy the fruits of mercy and grace and hold onto the thoughts and image one has fashioned for themselves.

In discipleship often comes the pain of the battle of the man's inner demons that possessed him his entire life prior to conversion. It is there that the realization of his wretchedness comes more plainly into view and the reality that he must set aside the poisons to his soul that have become his addictions.

He no more cherishes the prospect of turning from sin than the alcoholic relishes his delirium tremens. A significant part of him says a minor return to sin for a spell would make him feel better and steady the nerves.

If conversion is the moment of clarity, discipleship is the detoxification and recovery.

When the relapse occurs, bolster your brother in his faith, remind him of the promises and hope he has, and do not merely rebuke him for his failure. It's not an easy task to be renewed, in fact it's so difficult it may only be accomplished with the strength offered by the Lord.

I realize you're joking but that's actually a pretty easy thing to train and very useful. Since the dog needs to do it anyway, watch for him to start to "assume the position" and say "go potty [ name ], go potty" enthusiastically and then praise and reward him when he does what he kind of had no choice but to do. Pretty soon, Pavlov does his thing and cause and effect get reversed.

143 If conversion is the moment of clarity, discipleship is the detoxification and recovery.

Its a shame the God doesn't factor anywhere in that formula.

Under the Doctrines of Grace, the Spirit brings the spiritually dead to life through regeneration, and perfects the believer through sanctification. That is to say, that God is the author and finisher of one's faith.

Under Free Will soteriology, man decides his own faith, his own terms of obedience and unfortunately takes on responsibility when he attempts to do what cannot be done because of sin nature - that which has never been addressed.

160 If conversion is the moment of clarity, discipleship is the detoxification and recovery.

When the relapse occurs, bolster your brother in his faith, remind him of the promises and hope he has, and do not merely rebuke him for his failure. It's not an easy task to be renewed, in fact it's so difficult it may only be accomplished with the strength offered by the Lord.

Buckley looked up from his spot on the rug when he heard his name. Sure enough, there was a bear out in the driveway. Much barking and excitedness ensued.

• Canada, due to its low population density makes for expensive distribution of nationally sold brands.

Not related to Kleenex:
• people are making healthy food choices.

I'm guessing with inflation and the usual demand destruction taking place globally, people are seeking cheaper alternatives or doing without. At some point the business model doesn't allow for low profitability so they just cut and run.

342 Reubens! Somebody who sells a lot of them, even online (they will overnight them) gave some tips.

I like thick black rye. They suggest letting it get slightly stale or heating in a slow oven for a while. All the better to soak up the butter when grilling in the pan. Conversely they suggest sealing the meat up in aluminum foil with a few sprinkles of water and sort of steaming it before assembly. Finally, use a good heavy press.

For my part, it needs really fresh, really hot Horseradish, the kind that makes your eyes water and clears the sinus.

And then there are the sides. I like good pickles, and maybe french fries. Since I’m not that motivated to make Reubens and french fries, I might settle for sour cream and onion potato chips. Maybe BBQ flavored chips? Possibly some cole slaw or potato salad.

It might be the best sandwich, arguably. Gotta be made just so.

345 Posted by: Diogenes

*******

So, get this, it's pretty straightforward. You take a hamster. Not just any hamster, a frigging Chinese hamster. And it's got to be a female Chinese hamster so that you can harvest its ovaries. These Chinese female ovaries are then blended in a blender to enable you to extract some of the Chinese hamster ovary cells. The Chinese female hamster ovary cells are then grown in a vat full of nutrients so that they can continue to live outside the Chinese hamster. The cells grown in this vat are fed nutrients, and then infused with a batch of lab-grown DNA strands that code for an RSV protein. The Chinese hamster ovary cells in the broth then spin out a bunch of RSSV protein which is injected into humans. Presto ipso change-o, vaccine.

Used to work EMS Oakland Ca. back in the 80's. There was supposed to be this GRAND REVITILIZATION of the downtown which ended up as massive pits in the ground due to the fact that the Russian Money posting these constructions suddenly went away.

Yet still there were the pits...and OPD used these pits to drive down into with the occasional Paddy wagon containing various arrestees who were in need of "Anger Management."

And it is told that they came out of the pits very less angry and very more..."cooperative" on their way to the jailhouse.

Back when LAWS were LAWS and you did not "F" with the local PD...especially in Oakland Ca.

Arguing with bears only works if you have a rifle. Otherwise... well, the bear is gonna win.

When I lived on Government Hill in Anchorage, the black bears would scale the 6 foot high fence and come into the back yard, scare hell out of the dogs (who ran inside through the doggie door), knock my outdoor shelves around, dig up the garden, take a nice big dump, and then leave.

I would let them. It's illegal to shoot them in the city. Except if you are in danger of death. And we weren't so we didn't.

--SNIP--

Rite Aid, along with other pharmacy chains, is presently a defendant in lawsuits which allege their overprescription of opioid painkillers contributed to the opioid crisis in the United States.

In March, the US Department of Justice sued Rite Aid, accusing the pharmacy chain of illegally filling hundreds of thousands of prescriptions for various prescription drugs, including opioids, in spite of clear "red flags" the company should have noticed.

In addition, all around the country, state and local governments are suing the company similarly. So far, similar lawsuits around the country against other pharmacies, drugmakers, and distributors have generated settlements regarding similar allegations which have totaled over $50 billion.

419 Hiya, Skip.

420 I go to the office in the middle of the night.
I work nights anyway so I have no set schedule when I have a night off at the supermarket. I'm on an anywhere from 7-9 hours time difference for a lot of my correspondence, so when working on a project I'm often working in US in the 'middle of the night'. It's about 8AM in Europe right now.

I can work at home, but Cats! Distractions! Projects! It's why I got the separate office. Here, I'll show a picture. Give me a minute.

421 Well, it’s almost 2 AM. Which means last call. Which means, time to go home and go to bed. Goodnight, All.

424 The only issue is getting to the office in the middle of the night. Without CCW I wouldn't do it. I usually walk, and the 'hood isn't the world's greatest so I have 'encounters' every few months. I've just gotten used to it.
I tried driving but that didn't seem any safer! Anyone out in the middle of the night is likely drunk and/or high and/or up to no good, and I've nearly been T-boned, wrecked, or hit at high speed multiple times. So I typically walk, it gives me more avoidance options.

Apparently the vaulted Aspriris health care conglomerate can't find him a spot for rehab. Well then then what the f$%^ good are they?

I'll work on it tomorrow, they apparently suck.

We have a game console with vintage games, but no Missile Command. All the Pac-Mans, Galaga, 'pedes, Space Invaders, etc. No pinball. Probably too noisy and everyone would be on it all the time.

He is experiencing rapid organ failure. Can't eat, drink or swallow. Hospice is there and he has morphine now. He was a good husband and wonderful father to our brood. He quite often referred to me as his bride. His misery these last few years was great. I pray for his deliverance. Thank you all.

436 The burning man barricaders. I’ve spent a fair bit of time in the black rock desert and the high rock canyon preserve area. The whole region is crisscrossed by indiscernible and missing boundary markers. Tribal deputies and tribal town cops and BLM and USFS and highway patrol. Oh my!

Looks like the barricaders bumped into the Paiute.
USFS planted solar powered cameras near King Lear Peak and surrounds at least twenty+ years ago.

Been mock-strafed and bombing runned on the playa by hot shot pilots out of Fallon AFB.

Mary, Mother of God, send consolation and relief to Debbie and her children upon the passing of her dear husband, and recommend her spirit unto God who rains down Grace from Heaven.

Amen.

455 214 Colorado wolf restoration facing complications

https://is.gd/L4fMj5

Seems Colorado wants to reintroduce grey wolves back into the wild, but nobody will sell them wild (trapped) wolves for re-release and it's against the law for them to release wolves born and raised in captivity because they may not have the skills necessary to tell a deer from a cow. Or something along those lines.

Ask Wyoming ranchers how they feel about reintroducing wolves.

456 "Half-Breed" by Cher was from 1973, I think? It formed part of the musical backdrop for my early serious reading in science fiction after I discovered Heinlein's Past Through Tomorrow collection, and moved on to Robert Silverberg's anthologies, collections of Galaxy magazine stories, and more. When I say "serious," I mean that I'd always read the occasional story, and of course watched Trek and certain movies like Planet of the Apes, but I'd never read widely in the field to see the best it had to offer. Eye-opening it was.

The song played on Top 40 radio in the first half of '73, but she may not have done the video until later. I seem to recall that Sonny & Cher, and the Smothers Brothers, on their shows both pioneered what came to be called music videos later -- an animated version of Melanie's "Brand New Key" is a flickering memory for me.

I don't recall seeing the Cher "Half Breed" video until very recently, or it would have left a mark on me too.
