Don't want to buy an EV. Uncle Sam says how dare you. You'll be made to purchase them.

President Joe Biden further accelerated the nation’s switch to electric vehicles by announcing two proposed federal rule changes aimed at reducing greenhouse gases and other pollutants in motor vehicle emissions.

The changes, announced on April 12, would affect virtually all gasoline-powered vehicles on U.S. highways, save consumers an estimated $12,000 in fuel and maintenance costs over the life of a vehicle, and avoid almost 10 billion tons of carbon dioxide emissions through 2055, according to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

The move aims to further the president’s goal of having 50 percent of all new cars and light trucks and 30 percent of new medium- and heavy-duty trucks sold in 2030 be zero-emission vehicles. Electric vehicles (EVs) are considered zero-emission vehicles.

The EPA estimates that approval of these rules would result in 67 percent of new passenger vehicles and light trucks being EVs by 2032, along with 50 percent of buses, 35 percent of short-haul freight tractors, and 25 percent of long-haul freight tractors.

Resident of The White House Joe 'Mush Head' Biden continues to display his deteriorating mind.

Biden Lives at His Workplace and Doesn’t Know Where His Home Office is Located

Biden's mind continues to slip.

During a Wednesday speech in Ireland, Joe Biden said the Oval Office was in the United States Capitol. Wednesday’s gaffe is Joe Biden’s latest embarrassing memory incident

During his speech, Biden told the Irish audience, “As a matter of fact, as you walk into my office in the Oval Office in the United States Capitol, guess what? You know who founded, designed, and built the White House? An Irishman, no not a joke.

On the bright side he didn't say "Pussy".

Trump sues former attorney Michael Cohen for $500 million
A source familiar says the complaint against Cohen 'has nothing to do' with the Manhattan DA's case

EXCLUSIVE: Former President Donald Trump is suing his ex-lawyer Michael Cohen for more than $500 million, alleging a breach of his attorney-client relationship, unjust enrichment, and more, Fox News Digital has learned.

Trump’s legal team filed the more-than 30-page federal lawsuit in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida on Wednesday.

Is there hope for journalism? Maybe. Is there hope for school boards? Probably not.

High school student reporters reveal their new principal's graduate degrees were from a diploma mill; she resigns

What began as a routine school newspaper interview "to introduce the new principal to the community" ended in an investigation and resignation.

"Days after student reporters at Pittsburg High School in Kansas dug into the background of their newly hired principal and found questionable credentials, she resigned from the $93,000-a-year job," reports Mará Rose Williams of The Kansas City Star. "Student journalists published a story questioning the legitimacy of the private college — Corllins University — where Robertson got her master's and doctorate degrees years ago. Department of Education officials, contacted by The Star, confirmed student reports; the federal agency could not find evidence of Corllins in operation. The school wasn't included on the agency's list of schools closed since 1986. Robertson earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Tulsa."

Drunk man causes chaos after breaking into Naples Police Department

NAPLES, Fla. — A drunk man was arrested after sneaking into the Naples Police Department and recklessly exploring.

Joseph Moulton, 36, jumped the fence of the south parking lot and went inside an unlocked patrol cruiser where he sat for a few minutes until he saw people come outside. Moulton hid in the bushes and then took action once the coast was clear.

According to the police report, Moulton used the nozzle of a water hose and shoved it underneath the west door before turning the water on, causing at least an inch of flood damage.

Sold beer at a soccer game tonight.

Sold exactly one Bud Light all night. It represented .1% of our sales for the evening.

I usually see Bud Light come in at around 3% of total sales.

Michelob Ultra, which usually comprises 22-23% of our average sales also so a dramatic drop comprising only 5.8% of our total sales.

36 YD - I get your point. But:
Target lost some money, and they did back off the policy, going to either individual bathrooms - thus unisex - or back to the normal communal bathrooms by sex. Just depended on the store. It worked. P&G took an $8B write down on Gillette - that is gone forever. They still are the biggest brand, but are not as big as they were before the campaign. That's permanently lost. We of course know Disney and comic books.

Now - Nike is the poster child for succeeding in woke. Kapernik cost them nothing and actually probably helped them. The danger now is that many big time woman athletes are suggesting Nike shouldn't be purchased for anything. That could roll down to girls youth teams and lost college contracts. Way too early to see.

Bud Light is going to be permanently damaged. It's too easy to switch brands to some other giant mainline brew - Miller Lite, Coors Lite, Coors, Miller High Life, etc. InBEV will hope people move to other brands they own, which are numerous. If the boycott actually impacted something like Guinness, they would immediately do what Red Bull did - which was to fire every dumbass woke/CRT executive in NA.

And yet here he was subsuming his ego and just being one of the guys in the band. I thought he did a great job and didn't miss a note. I can't remember just exactly what he sang (I think maybe Take it to the Limit among others) but it was a great concert.

My point I guess is that Vince the country superstar was able to become just one of the guys in the band. I respect that.

95 Weaponized your children.

When a school teacher starts promoting the gay shit in the classroom, sue the school system and the teacher in their individual capacity because little Johnny was traumatized.

When a school teacher tells him to write his obit, sue the school system and the teacher in his individual capacity because little Johnny is too traumatized to come back to school.

Did you learn nothing from how they removed the Bible from school? You need only claim your child was traumatized and guess what, you have the start witness living with you that you can coach their testimony all you like.

"Would you like to stay home with dad and watch television because you are too scared to go to school little Timmy? Don't worry, dad won't make you go to school if you say you are scared to go. You can stay here and eat ice cream and play video games if you are too scared.

Did the teacher scare you? You can tell dad."

And it's kind of a dumb assignment. "Write about your 17-year-long life's accomplishments, in as bland and clinical a style as possible. Then list your close relatives, and maybe a charity people should donate to."

It was always a subject in the midwest, we went over it once a year.

People forget the most deadly school attack in American history was a 1927 bombing in Bath Michigan. We were told to think about the skills we were developing as scouts (boy and girl) and whether we could help our fellow students. The school worked HARD to develop a sense of community in our classes and a genuine student body.

Were it only so today.

168 Hi everyone. It's been a while since I gave an update.

My son had surgery 3-1/2 weeks ago, to remove a large tumor from his brain stem. He was in ICU for two days, recovery for five days, and then the rehab ward for two weeks. He finally returned home two days ago.

He had to relearn some things about walking and balance, but he is now using a walker very successfully. Still has a feeding tube directly through the abdominal wall, but is improving little by little every day.

The curious thing is that the tumor that was removed has been passed around to several different medical labs, and none has been able to identify it yet. So we're still waiting for an official diagnosis. No news is good news, I guess -- unless it isn't.

As always, thank you for your prayers and friendship.

I once had an odd little bump near my hip bone that didn't go away. The doc cut it out and sent it to be biopsied. When I called to find out the results he said that the first lab couldn't figure out what it was and sent it to a second lab. Concerning, but in the end it was non malignant.

OG told his online companions that the government hid horrible truths from the public. He claimed, according to the members, that the government knew in advance that a white supremacist intended to go on a shooting rampage at a Buffalo supermarket in May 2022. The attack left 10 dead, all of them Black, and wounded three more. OG said federal law enforcement officials let the killings proceed so they could argue for increased funding, a baseless notion that the member said he believes and considers an example of OG’s penetrating insights about the depth of government corruption.

257 Sorry Prof Squirrel; nothing personal, but I view the "Education" (scare quotes deliberate) Establishment as the source of many of our societal problems. The Schools of Education are at the foundation of this disfunction. Lowest SAT scores, highest GPAS.
In the Middle Ages, when I went to school :-), the School quartiles broke out drastically different. I don't remember the other schools, but I remember my own (Engineering) - a 2.3 got you out of the bottom, a 2.6 got you to the third, and a 2.95 put you into the top quarter. Education? Anything under a 3.4 put you in the bottom quartile. It required a 3.92 to crack the top.
Teachers today have no education, so they have nothing of value to impart, but they get kudos for indoctrinating their charges with leftist nonsense, which has the advantage of not actually requiring thought or disipline.
Raze the ed schools and salt the earth. Go back to Normal schools with 2 year degrees. "One lesson plan ahead" is feasible for elementary, while upper grade teachers will be required to have degree in or related to the subject they are teaching, and take training (on the order of 3-6 months) in teaching techniques.

265 The federal government has too much power. They are able to mess around with the car makers and I don't like it.

I personally believe that most people, most of the time, would be well-served by an electric car; and that if electric cars cost less than gasoline cars, most cars sold would be electric cars, from people's own free choices. The industry is headed that way anyway. If I'm right, the government won't have to force people.

The Democrats want to get in front of something that will happen no matter what, and then claim "See! We did that!" It's stupid to print more money and spend it on something that would happen anyway.

For years the feds have been pushing increasingly crazy MPG standards, and at this point it's almost impossible to make gas cars that can meet the standard so car companies are forced to make some EVs (which use zero gasoline and thus bring up the average). I'm not a fan of this.

P.S. I do still love my personal EV. (I'd better; it's the most expensive car I've ever owned.)

You're wrong, and you remain wrong, same as every time you post.

You exist in an isolated bubble without an understanding of other people or their needs. EVs are already available and statistically no one wants them. The vast majority of sales are to government and corporations. Individual sales aren't even half of the paltry total because, again, no one wants them. They don't serve a useful purpose for people.

And you simultaneously somehow believe that the most expensive car you ever purchased can be cheap.

You are what is wrong with everything related to the issue.

It's useful to remember the levels of responsibility for the situation; the shoplifters of course, but they are just the lowest level of evildoer. They didn't have the power to create the situation, they just are invited to exploit it. (yes, they are invited) A higher level of responsibility is due to all the officials of that government who created the situation and perverted the law. Even more liable are the people who finance all of this at the top, and of course the voters who sit back and allow this rot while doing nothing are also culpable.

So the most fitting punishment is for all of these stores to just leave, for food distribution to stop, and for this city to collapse and die for its evil.

Most of these mass shooters are "known wolves". How much the feds are stirring people up, how much they are just not following up when they should, and how much is unavoidable is unclear.

In Heritage America congress would demands ALL intelligence on these various shooters be released to the public, unredacted, but as we've seen with the recent tranny-murderer the government sees its roll as hiding as much as it can from the public.

It is amazing how often the supra geniuses of LE have people less than two hops away from mayhem....

I am using the two hop metric for a reason, one of the things post 9/11 the LE and Intel communities decided was that rather than needing two hops they now can use three and are pushing for five.

Five hops is functionally an open snipe hunting license in the information age.

RFK - we all remember how JFK Jr took himself out of the running. This is the kind of thing that I used to think was nuts, but now I'm thinking it goes a long way in explaining why the FBI spent 3 years trying to frame a guy who (luckily for him) was able to prove his innocence.

They came from a Muslim illegal that had run a check kiting scheme and used the profits to buy the equipment to prepare the anthrax. He was working with the 9/11 hijackers - which is why one of the hijackers had a cutaneous anthrax injury.

So why did the mailings stop? The feds kicked him out of the country shortly after 9/11.

Remember the government still blames the mailings on some random Ft Detrick researcher who conveniently killed himself...and who had no reason to stop sending the mailings if he was doing it in the first place.

309 Local LE at least tends to use their two hops to catch bad guys, including a number of musloid plots that DC later tried to take credit for. Or used to, back in the days of beat cops talking to locals before the system got dorked up by Marxist agitators and their frenemies the MRAP loving police-state zealots. Federal LE, yeah, they seem to have people everywhere but they never find stuff in time. Curious, that...

310 Oh one other amusing anecdote - the other argument that the government used to claim the anthrax mailings were domestic researchers was that they was an American strain.

Hussein's Iraq had gotten samples of this same strain however in the 80s from the US. It was a scandal at the time, and prior to the invasion of Iraq was often used by the left to claim Reagan created the Iraqi WMD program.

Of course it should be noted that the left alternately blamed Reagan for not helping Iran vs Iraq and Iraq vs Iran depending on which country was a bigger enemy of the US at that particular political moment.

Yes.

They get a FISA warrant on Moron X for being white and supreme or whatever. He calls Moron Y about a Valu-Rite sale. Moron Y calls Moron Z to tell him about it. Y and Z are covered in the same warrant as X, for all their conversations, though they have nothing to do with his Supreme White Mindthoughts.

With a network effect, given the many calls a given insurrectionist enemy of the State makes in a day, that's a metric fuckton of people you can drag into your net.

Expand it a couple steps, and you theoretically get every person in the tri-state area off one kangaroo court warrant from a crook like Rudy Contreras.

No they keep using their willful failures to justify constantly expanding the surveillance network.

Say that A shows indications of being a potential problem... in the old days you could surveil A and by extension B if B directly interacted with him, RICO and going after the mob and the shotgun recruitment tactics of the Russians led to the two hop. You surveil A, and B and cultivate the net on C if merited.

That was the American standard, the UK has always had 3 to 5 hops.

American operatives have been whiffing a lot, whether on purpose or "gosh they just got real lucky" take Omar Mateen who had been accused of threatening the life of a deputy while on a security contract at a Federal court house.

Every time DOJ and the IC have failed they have been rewarded with ever expanding power, every time a democrat known wolf goes ballistic they get more gun control noise.

329 for an even more fun thought on "hopping" also consider...

You get laughed out of the FISA court....

what is an operative to do?

Why sovereignty wash that legal hurdle away old boy....YOU are not gonna surveil A talking to B you ask the UK to do so easy peasy Japanesey voila your agency is "not to blame" and by golly when your "source" at MI6 alerts you through channels as to A and B's activity you can resubmit to the FISA court or open an investigation preliminarily anyway and as an added bonus YOU do the same for the UK's MI offices.

One nice byproduct of American penury will be the decline of the snooper state.

339 Here's an example of how ludicrous the "two hop" thing is:

Let's say I'm an insane fed with an ax to grind. You can call me Special Agent Hammond Egger. I go to Rudy Contreras' FISC and say "Look Rudy, we've got a guy on the string, name of YD. He's bad. He expressed support for dangerous ideological heterodoxy on a website. That's right... his dangerous heterodoxy crossed State lines, repeatedly."

So Rudy gives me this crazy warrant. Now I apply it. Every person he calls and every person they call are now automatically fair game. So then YD (nefarious as he is) gets hungry in his hotel room, and calls a popular Mexican restaurant for a delivery meal.

Every one of the hundreds of customers who call that restaurant during the period of YD's FISA warrant is subject to fully legal & warranted fed surveillance.

That's how broad these laws are.

Unless, of course, you keep agents and couriers siloed, and using air-gaps for data, like all of our rivals and enemies do for NatSec purposes, because they aren't dullards.

This happy horseshit is only reliably useful for monitoring of open communications channels. Like you might want to use against your own hapless, incurious, unsuspecting people who think this all for their safety.

I try to call my Dad once a week. He'll be 87 in June. I can't get him in the late afternoon, he's usually stopping at one of the rural bars around Stevens Point, he knows everybody. Only has one drink at each bar, he's said it took a long time to learn that discipline.

My parents refused to determine how they wanted to go. They left it up to the kids to decide and do everything. Same thing with their extended care. We had to take care of all of it.

Do NOT do that to your kids. Take care of that crap in advance. No matter what your kids decide, they will hate you if you don't make your wishes known.

As far as I know, my dad is ashes in some box on my sister's shelf. Not like she would share that information, or let anyone actually grieve. Mom is in memory care, but since she told me to fuck off, I did, so I hope my sisters are watching out for her.

Honor your mother and father, indeed.

Hey, news flash for you: things get cheaper over time. The Apple Macintosh when first introduced cost $2500 (about $7262 in today's dollars) but a current iMac costs $1300 and is a more powerful computer.

Tesla spelled out a clear plan to make a car for half the cost of a Model 3. People expect this will cost about $25,000 brand new and that Tesla will sell millions per year. At a profit.

Yes, and as has been noted already, the government and corporations are the buyers. Individuals are not buying EVs.

Again: Individuals aren't buying EVs to any great degree. They've had the opportunity to buy them for years and reject them. They still reject them. Individuals don't want them. That's why the EPA and Biden administration are having to ban real cars. People won't buy EVs if actual cars exist and can be purchased.

And no, there won't be a $25K Tesla. Especially not a usable one that can manage more than 30 or so miles in the winter. There's not even a $25K Civic, and people actually WANT those cars.

It's amazing how the most enthusiastic and evangelistic EV proponents know absolutely nothing about them or cars in general.

Been playing with the latest version of Stellarium for Windows, 23.1. Looking under the hood a bit.

And I want to say this: Here's to Jean Meeus. He's technically an "amateur" astronomer. A Belgian meteorologist by trade, born in 1928. Still alive. Not even a Ph.D. But he is one of the most prolific authors on mathematical/numerical astronomy there is. His work is everywhere, including Stellarium. He literally wrote the book on much of this.

They named an asteroid after him a few decades ago, but that ain't fitting enough. He is a Celestial Mechanic par excellence, and just learned a new title for him: Time Lord. He's quite the learned perfessor on the business of astronomical and ephemeris time. Stellarium uses one of his expressions for "delta T", an important time concept in running ephemerides back and forward in time.

So here's to you, Jean Meeus, Celestial Mechanic and Time Lord.

And individual purchases were subsidized with favorable tax treatment and other percs, in California in particular. So, sure, you do tend to get demand for things you subsidize, but that's hardly proof of the invisible hand and free markets.

For anyone who is wildly, laughably, and maybe delusionally uninformed about EVs and their sales and popularity, here's some info from places like Denmark and the UK:

"Electric Cars: Commercial And Private Sales Are Even In Europe
JATO's analysis reveals that slightly more than half (50.2 percent) of Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) registrations during the first quarter of this year were for business."

(notice that government isn't mentioned in the sales)

and from the U.S., where you can't find this same data but it's certainly worse because Americans have been rejecting EVs outright for quite some time:

"WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Joe Biden on Monday vowed to replace the U.S. government’s fleet of roughly 650,000 vehicles with electric models as the new administration shifts its focus toward clean-energy."

> We can only drive electric cars if we give up air conditioning and refrigeration

That's just silly. We aren't going to run out of electrical power.

Even in places having trouble with overloading their grids, they can either improve their grid, use economic incentives to encourage people to charge when the grid isn't stressed (i.e. charge less at night), or both.

Tesla announced a program where their customers in Texas can pay a flat $30 to charge their cars as much as they want for a month, the only catch being they have to charge their cars at night when energy is cheaper. And with a Tesla you can just set the car to charge during certain hours, and just plug it in... you don't need to get up at 1am and plug in your car or anything like that.

> You don't have the slightest notion of what you're talking about. The fucking US grid cannot handle the fucking additional load

Look at a demand curve some time. You might notice that demand isn't constant during the day... there are peak times and non-peak times. If the EVs are charging in the non-peak times, they can charge without overloading the grid.

https://bit.ly/3GEMqNR

https://bit.ly/3UEv49C

And we are about to see an unprecedented boom in large batteries getting hooked up to the grid. Batteries stabilize the grid.

https://bit.ly/3GEN8dK

The whole USA had about 25 GWh of grid-scale batteries by the end of 2022. Tesla's one factory in California is designed to make 40 GWh of batteries per year, every year.

> The stated goals of those pushing EVs is population reduction. It's not a conspiracy theory if our Global Masters are saying it out loud. Even write books about it. They are very proud of themselves.

I don't want population reduction. I don't want you to be stuck in a 15 minute city. I don't want you to "eat the bugs". I don't even want to take away your air conditioning or your jet travel or anything. I don't even freaking want to tell you what kind of car you can buy. You want to buy a gas car? Go for it, I am not the boss of you.

I do, however, have a strong belief that in the next few years we are going to see huge changes in the car market. Note that this is a prediction, not something I am wishing for. No matter what you want, no matter what I want, BEVs are going to change everything. Soon.

This report says over 50% of all cars sold in the USA will be BEVs by 2030.

I predict it will be more like 2026 or 2025. We'll just have to see, won't we?

>> giant renewables hub at Goyder South in South Australia which would provide 900 megawatts of battery storage.

That is physically illiterate bullshit. A megawatt is a unit of power, not energy. So, maybe if could pump out 900 MW of power. For a little bit.

Some numbers. US annual electricity consumption is around 3900 TW-hrs. Or 3.9 Petawatt-hours. Peak deman, last numbers I can find, Peak demand, during August 2021 hit 720 GW. 720 Gigawatts.

Now, look at these "battery stabilizers" in comparison to that. It's a fucking joke.

Now, "mr_jack" do some ephemerides. Look up US annual gasoline and diesel consumption. Convert that shit to electrical numbers, and I'll give your Pollyanna efficiency numbers. Calculate how much additional load that puts on the grid.
