Naughty Cupid Cafe

canada.jpg
Jasper National Park, Alberta, Canada

Squawker's Rights.

Headbutt fight.

He probably has Plantar's Fasciitis. Stretch it out, bud. It'll loosen up.

Elephant toddler playing soccer. (Not animatronic!)

The fartbird.

Backflip progression.

This would take longer to learn.

Lovin' on a whale.

Backyard Squid Games.

Caution: dissection. This Burmese Python ate a big meal before he died.

Cuchaburra has a funny call.

Storm-simulator hot tub.

Ostrich likes the music so much he gives the guitarist a sexy mating dance:

12 Mostly missed the last thread so remember *this* hard hitting reportage...? It was a simpler time I guess. In between finding out what Obama found enchanting:

---------------
The capital flew into a bit of a tizzy when, on his first full day in the White House, President Obama was photographed in the Oval Office without his suit jacket. There was, however, a logical explanation: Mr. Obama, who hates the cold, had cranked up the thermostat.

"He's from Hawaii, O.K.?" said Mr. Obama's senior adviser, David Axelrod, who occupies the small but strategically located office next door to his boss. "He likes it warm. You could grow orchids in there."

So I stand corrected. That Nashville shooter bought all her guns and the NICS had to have been performed. She apparently had not been flagged.

And who would have done so? Not mom or dad. She was well beyond school years.

197 Other Italian food news:

||The Italian government has approved a draft law that would ban food grown in laboratories, including artificial meat, as it seeks to “safeguard our nation’s heritage”.

Under the ban, which needs to be passed in both houses of parliament, those who produce, export or import food grown from animal cells would face fines of up to €60,000 and risk having their manufacturing plants closed.

Coldiretti, Italy’s biggest farmers’ association, has lobbied for the ban, arguing that homegrown produce needs to be shielded from “the attacks of multinational companies”.||

270 Possibly already covered, but Telegram seems to be the predominant Twitter-equivalent for the russkis (not sure of its nationality or home base). One can read it without joining, which I do a lot for the situation in Ukeistan. They require a phone number to sign up (one used to be able to spoof them with a fake number), so I haven't bothered. If you have a burner phone, might want to use that. Only problem with not joining is the videos are often unavailable (even Russian news sites often use the Telegram platform for the videos, so I don't see those).

Speaking of the current unpleasantness, in an interview this week Zelensky said a loss in Bakhmut (Russian name Artemovsk) would lead to pressure on the government, internally and "from the international community", to reach a compromise deal with Russia. And a Uke general staff posting to Farcebook acknowledged "partial" Russian success in the fight for the town.

Meh. Dramatic turning points are unlikely, but the logic and trajectory remain as before.

298 Randi Weingarten calls for gun confiscation: Must 'have the courage to do' what Australia, New Zealand did
Scotland, Australia and New Zealand all took away guns from their citizens after mass shootings https://tinyurl.com/3j4j9vjy

Teachers union president Randi Weingarten called for gun confiscation Tuesday, saying the U.S. must follow "what other great democracies" have done to ban guns, following the shooting at a Christian Nashville school.

Weingarten addressed the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) Tuesday morning regarding the aftermath of the school shooting that killed three children and three adults. After having a moment of silence for the victims, she reignited calls to ban "assault weapons."

She added, "It’s an epidemic that our great nation must solve. And how many lives will be shattered before we have the courage to do what Scotland did, what Australia did, what New Zealand did, what other great democracies do? We must solve this epidemic, and that’s up to us."

In the classic sense. I am not saying it does not have it's grit and griminess, but I was fricking shocked that it actually had an uncompromised happy ending.

I am going to install one graphic mod (the game has a tendency to be a bit ashy on default) and then play through it. Already I confirmed what I always knew: shooters have no place on consoles.

They'll do it where they always do it. Blue enclaves where they can be sure they have the blue to back them.

They won't do it in Nashville. God help them if they do. Nashville is an outlier. Nashville is not Atlanta. Not by any stretch.

Posted by: Alberta Oil Peon at March 29, 2023 09:51 PM (tkR6S)

361 Yeah, there are a lot of weaknesses in Rowling's worldbuilding. It's very much a character-centric world. Take away Harry Potter and what do you really have?
Posted by: "Perfessor" Squirrel

It's kind of weak writing. And...I read all those books to my kids when they were growing up.
There was always some magic (literal) gizmo to disturb any logic in that world. I know of some young GenX types that ABSOLUTELY think it's all great and literature, etc.

It's kind of childish, frankly. But Rowling has made like + billion dollars off the books and movie rights.
And the movies were, by and large, not that good, but with some cool CGI.
What are the books without Harry Potter?
The Weasley family...all redheads.

That's what they - and the administration - want.

It doesn't matter if they are the ones doing the shooting or getting shot by cops. They win. That's the plan.

There is a $1 BILLION bridge project in Houston, (Beltway 8, new Ship Channel Bridge), which is at boiling STOP, at about the 3/4 completion point.

Because You Know Who was the Design/Engineering Firm.

After the FL pedestrian bridge collapse, local engineering companies (plural), did reviews of the local project. And declared it manifestly ill designed and unsafe, now and forever.

I'll be long dead and gone before those lawsuits resolve. Engineering consensus now is to tear it all down, and start from scratch.

Think so ? I don't think so. Nashville is urban, for sure. It's different.

If the left is thinking Nashville is the next place to show the flag ? Then things will get sporty, and quickly.
