The Senate passed legislation Wednesday to scrap the federal government’s three-year-old COVID-19 national emergency.
In a bipartisan 69-23 vote, the Senate voted to immediately terminate the emergency. Overall, more than a dozen Senate Democrats voted with nearly every Republican to pass the measure.
“Emergency powers are given to the executive branch so the commander in chief has the flexibility to quickly act in the event of a crisis,” said Sen. Roger Marshall, the Kansas Republican who authored the measure. “That declaration was appropriate in 2020, but now it’s time for the proper Constitutional checks and balances to be restored.”
A woman who stabbed her vulnerable victim before tying her to a chair and demanding cash has been jailed.
Zara Jade, 54, attacked her victim at a flat in Halifax last year and left her tied up while she withdrew money from an ATM.
Jade admitted offences of wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm, robbery, fraud and false imprisonment at Bradford Crown Court.
She was jailed for nine years with an extended licence period of three years.
The injuries inflicted were described as "superficial" by prosecutor Lydia Pearce, who said Jade then took cash from the victim and also demanded her PIN number.
Jade used tights to tie her victim into a electrically-powered chair, set in the recline position.

Female Students Sue Sorority For Admitting Biological Male Who Allegedly Gets Aroused Watching Women Undress
Sorority sisters are suing the Kappa Kappa Gamma (KKG) sisterhood for admitting a male University of Wyoming student, according to a complaint.
KKG admitted biological male Artemis Langford, its first transgender-identifying member, into its ranks in Oct. 2022. Guidelines set by the National Panhellenic Council define a sorority as a “single-gender organization comprised of women and individuals who identify as women” while leaving admission decisions up to individual chapters.

Newsom falls silent after calls for him to take executive action on reparations
Governor's position unclear amid calls for action as state weighs massive reparations plans
California Gov. Gavin Newsom is staying silent as his state considers doling out potentially hundreds of billions of dollars to Black residents in reparations as a way to make amends for slavery and subsequent discrimination.
Newsom, a Democrat, has yet to take a position or comment publicly on the prospect of his state potentially enacting a slew of recent reparations proposals that are gaining steam in California. The governor's office didn't respond to any of Fox News Digital's repeated requests for comment regarding his views on the issue and whether he's considered taking executive action to implement the plans being discussed if the California Legislature doesn't act.
The California Reparations Task Force, which was created by state legislation signed by Newsom in 2020, is considering a proposal to give just under $360,000 per person to approximately 1.8 million Black Californians who had an ancestor enslaved in the U.S., putting the total cost of the program at about $640 billion.
All of a sudden I identify as a black Californian.

Perpetuating the War without End in the Middle East and Afghanistan. To be in on the grift.
Austin, with considerable help from others, has brought full on WOKE to the Armed Services. I don't know what we do in the future to clean up this kind of mess. It is now structurally much worse than the mess the Services were in after the end of the Viet Nam war (especially the Army). Then, becoming an eventual all - volunteer force eventually worked out a lot of the personnel and morale problems.

70 News from WA state.
The gun grabbing bills continue to advance in Olympia. The state senate passed a measure that would deny pre employment drug testing. The Seattle city council has passed a law to give gig workers paid sick leave. In another isolated incident a large food processing plant in Moses Lake, WA burned yesterday.
And, in Louisville, KY three barges are trapped against a dam. Two filled with grain and one with 1400 tons of methanol aboard.

And yes, WA state uses voting machines from Dominion Voting Systems. Why is this not surprising?

If Mars Candy (M&M's) or Hershey's doesn't make it, it probably won't be sold in an American chain grocery store. Because those gigantic candy corporations pay millions for shelf space in chain grocery stores, long before the first candy bar is stocked. It effectively is a monopoly.
There are a lot of consumer products that are sold to us because of this reason instead of actual competiton.

Zappa played the weirdest guitar solos.
I personally found them annoying as heck (and I'm a fan of his music), but, I will readily admit, I could listen to about 6 to 10 seconds worth of his guitar solos and say "yep, that's Zappa".

Speaking of ghetto candy, there was the Hollywood Candy Company.
They produced knockoffs of better-known brands, such as the "Milkshake" bar that was sort of like a crappy Milky Way.
Some of their brands, like Zero and Payday, got sold off to other companies when they went tits up, but most of them went to the Great Dodgy Corner Market in the Sky.

Would be an interesting way for the church to get kids to learn the rosary though.
Our Father, ok, ten hail mary's, ok our father again... Nicene Creed (make that one like a cream filled for a chocolate rosary or a fruit filled for a sweet tart rosary.)
That feels vaguely sacrilegious but I bet it would work like a charm.

Knock-off candies were the worst, especially at Halloween doing all that walking and carrying and ending up with that stuff. I remember a knock-off M&M; terrible. I remember some Reese's Peanut Butter Cup knock-offs that sucked, too. Glad I got older and pretty much gave up candy in large doses, occasionally keeping a bag of mini-somethings around in the fridge, like mini-Mounds or mini-York Peppermint Patties. The flavor of hershey's is actually a story. When they were doing the formulation, the maker accidently used a slightly spoiled sample of cream/milk. That is where the sour taste comes from. They liked it, but that is why Hershey's tastes different to european milk chocolate. I actually like it a lot- even knowing where it came from. I like the European versions as well, but I am willing to be open minded here.

What to do to fix the problem now?

Generally, there are no bad soldiers...only bad leaders.
Step one, fix the leadership.
Step two, establish standards and enforce them.
Step three, no trannys. For a hundred years the military has been allowed its own measure of self policing and legal process due to its exceptional and unique role in society. Go back to this.

The Wedel Chocolate factory in Warsaw Poland employed Jews and Poles in excess of their actual need in order to save their lives. They provided rations to help feed the families, created underground schools when the Nazis closed schools for Poles, assisted the Resistance, and kept going until the 1944 Warsaw Uprising, when the Germans destroyed the factory. They might not have helped win the war, but they did a heckuva lot to help.

He didn't allow staff on the floor (aside from his poor chief of staff), rarely had papers - just spoke, orated. He was like those cheesy jr. high history movies about the pre-Civil War Congress, in real life.
His pronunciation of "Sununu" was spectacular.

Exdem13 or other anime fans may dig it. Though the only time the F-14 makes an official appearance in Macross is in Macross Zero with Shin's F-14A++ which is really an F-14B with the F-14D's dual sensor arrangement under the nose and painted in TPS while armed with two AIM-9 Sidewinders and 6 AIM-120s.

IIRC They kept the tooling for the A-10 for like 10 years after production ceased.
But yeah the destruction of the F-22 tooling was a spite move to prevent a future administration from ever building more. Much like Reagan ordering 50 more C-5s to be built.

Here is Shin's F-14A++ or F-14A+ Kai being launched at the beginning of episode 1 of Macross Zero, they were really channeling their inner Highway to the Danger Zone here. And what follows is Shin bagging a bunch of anti unification forces MiG-29s in a beautifully rendered dogfight.

Anna. I'd buy back all that A-10 tooling. Went to Turkey, I think?
Other curse in the mix.
The Long Lead Time orders for parts and sub assemblies that'd make up subsequent Mks of aircraft. No one wants to re-start the F-14 Canopy production line, for no good reason.
Same for A-10 landing gear, titanium bathtubs and other key bits.
Being ME, I'd have ordered enough spare parts to be held in warehouses to build a couple three US fighter WINGS.
I well remember Kelly AFB, TX. Where they made 100% new wings for B-52s and C-5s. Pretty much remade T-38s from scratch there, too.
Big part of the production shop there, was re-making new tooling that Boeing had trashed for economic reasons, and Lockheed had trashed, having been so ordered.
459
From wiki:
" it estimated it would cost approximately $50 billion to procure 194 additional F-22s at a cost of $206–216 million per aircraft"
So, $50 Billion. Or just ONE of those aid packages we have shoveled Ukraine's way.

Just imagine if the US Navy had remanufactured every F-14 with airframe life to F-14D standard. That would have been a kick in the nuts to the F-18 Mafia.
Fun fact, the 13th test F-14A and first production Tomcat was remanufactured to Block 135 standards and was was one of the first Bombcats to hit Afghanistan as part of VF-41.

Oh yeah the last combat deployment of the F-14; the Super Tomcats had GPS for JDAM, these nice big PTIDs for the RIO to guide the smart munitions with, and for a mere $800 per plane ROVER allowed the CAS F-14s to send their video in real time to the troops on the ground.

I got here too late last night and saw you mentioned trying some C25 with it for steel and then some aluminum. Yep, CO2 won't do for aluminum at all, and while it will work for mild steel, you don't want any CO2 (or any other active gases) near the hot tungsten. It will ruin the tip before long.
You need pure argon (and other noble gases, or mixtures thereof for different specialties).

So, I was supposed to go 4-wheeling today. Got the Jeep to the meet-up point, loaded some stuff, and was ready to leave, and oh shit!, the left front tire is very low. Aired it up, but figured I couldn't trust, and drove back to the house. Took the wheel off the Jeep, and went over it thoroughly with a spray bottle of soapy water. Bunch of bead leaks at the aluminum rim. No holes in tire. Busted it off the rim, by hand. Found a bunch of sand and grit between the outer bead and the rim. Must have picked that up on the last outing. Cleaned up the rim and the tire; remounted it, and after 6 hours, it still looks good.
Figured it was time to add a full-size spare. I had a 31" tire on a steel rim, but the tire had a cut in it. Demounted that tire, buffed the inside with my angle grinder, and glued in a patch. Then went shopping for an inner tube. Tractor Supply has them! $24 and change. Will mount tire and tube tomorrow, and bolt the finished wheel onto the roof of the Jeep.

No, I didn't. Will box it back up, and take it home to Alberta with me. I have a cylinder of argon at home. I just wanted to make sure the machine functioned in all modes. It is easy to strike and maintain an arc. I used to do a lot of acetylene welding, so the hand motions of TIG should not be too hard for me to get used to.

The rarest of all things - some good news. Of interest only to residents of San Diego County, mostly. The most dangerous, and loathsome, of the county supervisors, has resigned amidst scandalous allegations (sexual harassment, maybe more).
Met this guy at a lunch event years ago. When he was GOP. Fresh out of the Corps, had his Globe & Anchor pin on his lapel. Decades in the Beltway for me, and this guy set off the Greasy POS meter more than any I can recall. Instantly. He became a state assemblyman (ambulance-chased a local kidnapping/murder case, politically/legislatively, typical these days, but still). Then *switched parties* because - wait for it - the rudderless, empty, pathetic, wimpy, me-too'ing CA GOP was "too extreme" for him!!!!!! Not making this up.
Translation: he's an empty political animal, realized the future was in mindless Coastal Clueless Dem nonsense crusades, so he hooked up with sugar-daddy Qualcomm founder and ran for several offices, finally settling for county supervisor.
He'll probably be replaced by someone just as inimical and hostile to common sense and anything resembling American style freedom - but not as smart, or dangerous.

How large a hole? The old-school way to drill glass was to use a straight piece of brass or copper tubing, and run it in a puddle of abrasive, like valve grinding compound. Slow, but will make a clean cut. Drill press is recommended.

Adriane, I have a nice big old antique bottle lamp in my family room, Never drilled a hole in it, the electrical is wired to the top of the bottle. I really like this lamp. It has a big glass bubble in the bottom of it, so drilling was not an option I used to go hunting for old bottles at yard sales, even dug some out of the dirt and mud by the railroad tracks with a friend of my brothers, They sit atop the beams in said family room flanking the old original pub sign in a wrought iron frame.
Aetius, I used to work a job where the business closed at 4:00 and reopened at 6:00, plenty of time to catch a mild buzz and cruise through the second shift. I'll have one ready to pour for you.

Ewetoob has a slew of videos on drilling glass. Evidently, the slew of cheap Chinese diamond and carbide drills has made the tube+abrasive drilling method obsolete.
The one take-away? When the hole is nearly done, ease up greatly on the pressure, or else you will spall out a big chip on the inside of the bottle, and risk breaking it.

I know that this is odd, but I never claimed to be normal. All of this trans-overdose has me wondering if there has been a hard hitting interview with Rear Fucking Admiral Dick/Rachel Levine. Has he sacrificed his junk to transgenderism or does he just like to dress up in costume like so many of his forbears? People wanna know!

Not sure he was born with any junk, and if he has any its just a flap to cover his mangina.

Lloyd Austin is a piece of shit and a perfect cabinet member for this regime.

Sperm banks should be illegal, transgenderism should be banished from the public square, and Biden and his handlers should be tried for stealing the 2020 presidential election.
I can just imagine David French reading the above and bawling his eyes out. Such a weak man.

Since he hasn't said he's lopped it off, I presume it's still hanging there.
If he had, it would be mentioned in every article about him.

I have no interest in knowing what is up that man's skirt. I just want him and his ilk to slink back into the slime they crawled out of and never be seen again.
Is that too much to ask?

I listen to old time radio often, I prefer the old private eye stuff like Johnny Dollar, it was in the sixties, I was a little kid then. I loved listening to Johnny Dollar coming home from the beach. Lots of Narragansett ads, sand all over me and just one on one time with my dad, I would spend one of my wishes on that.
Shit, Horde, I am getting drunk and need to go to bed. Forgive me.

That creature has actually spawned kids. He was married and a father. Gave it all up so he could remove his junk and cosplay a woman.
I do hate this timeline.

Johnny Dollar, the Shadow and ... Sam Spade? Those are all ones I need to listen to if I think of it when I have the opportunity.

I really didn't want to live in Interesting Times. I think we've zipped right past 'The Crazy Years' and into something closer to demonic.

yeah sometimes I feel like we're in the matrix, and the programmer got real stoned, and is just sitting in his chair drooling on himself. He'll probably snap out of it by the time fish are seen riding unicycles down the street.

He also played football with Gen. Mark Milley at the exclusive Belmont Hill prep school, here in the people's republic of Mass. Lizzy Warren has announced her bid for another term at the DC tepee. I am not sure if it was Milley or Levine, but one of them was a hell of a receiver.
I hate this fucking state, lived here my whole life too.

Night Skip, I toyed with the idea of making some microwave thick cut bacon, but nope, I am just going to bed. You have a good day, might be cold. My neighbor has tickets for the Red Sox home opener tomorrow, I don't think she has heated seats at Fenway.
I am going to bed, third scotch is almost done. One time when I was working after the break between 4 and 6 at my old company I greeted a long time customer named Mr. Filet as Mr. Fish. It is what I do.
I have been watching the director's cut of Woodstock tonight, chicks back then were certainly not feeling oppressed. There weren't too many trans there either or at least they didn't demand obeiesance. There was some good music then.
