I understood why Donald Trump chose Mike Pence as VP candidate. He thought he could get Establishment buy-in from Pence, and the list of people willing to be Trump's VP was small. Trump has a lot of trouble getting people to work for him/with him. A lot of people just cheer Trump's penchant for outrageousness and outright offensiveness, but there is a cost to it. It's not all just upside and making libs cry. A lot of c*cky Republicans just outright refuse to be associated with him, which leaves him wanting for bodies to staff a government with.
But even so... Pence was another hiring disaster. I can't prove this, but I have heard and heard and heard that a big source of negative leaks about Trump, throughout the entire Trump presidency, were from Pence's office. Not Pence himself necessarily, but, according to rumor, he came in with a full staff of firebreathing NeverTrump Establishment c*cks.And now here's Pence to act as the Regime's fake conservative Hallelujah Chorus.

The FBI was spying on defense attorneys and seizing their communications with clients.

Pence continues to be the opportunist now. The GOPe has revealed itself and is going full-out to thwart Trump (I suspect they will succeed). Pence obviously knows this, and his opportunity now is to ingratiate himself to that wing. Trump doesn't need Pence anymore (and obviously wouldn't have him anyway) so there really isn't a role for Pence anyway.
It's unfortunate that Pence seems to be going "the full McCain" here, but that's his real mistake, IMO.

Useless factoid -- DVD does not stand for Digital Video Disc, but actually Digital Versatile Disc. In addition to DVD-Video discs, which essentially replaced VHS tapes, there were ideas to replace audio CDs with DVD-Audio discs because of their larger storage capacity, but the concept never got traction.

Yup designed for various data purposes. My favorite variant was DVD-RAM, which are designed to allow a lot of rewrite cycles. They're not fast, but they're extremely reliable and can be used like a hard drive or for reliable archiving. I have some of 'em lying around with archived data on them...
