These areas already have electric grids built and the electric cars need only have to go 20 or 50 miles a day, not the multi-hundred mile distances common in Western states or when people set out on travels. Years ago I had a long conversation with my GP about what was happening to the practice of medicine, particularly the fact that doctors now work for large corporations. One of his two sons went into the navy and the other was a firefighter. He was thrilled that they didn't go to medical school. He remarked that he had people with high school diplomas telling him what drugs to prescribe.

I've delivered this rant before, so I apologize for repeating myself, but it cannot be stressed enough: doctors work for whoever pays them, and that's no longer the patients. There's really no such thing as a doctor-patent relationship at this point. They are someone else's agents. Why would they have a duty to do the patient no harm? Bland ethical commitments? Everyone obeys their paymasters.

is a nephrologist, and I asked him for his advice. He warned me off of it so hard it actually took root in my dumb college-aged brain.

For some reason a lot of people have trouble understanding this.
If your boss asks you to do something would you do it? Most people say, "of course!" And then you ask them why they think a cop, doctor, or government bureaucrat would act differently. And...for some people it breaks their thinking process.
The is especially irritating in regards to doctors - remember a major debate point in the 2012 election was Barack Obama complaining doctors were so low they'd amputate your foot for a little extra money, but the people who STILL believe that think that if you believe their medical judgement will be clouded by lobbyists, their bosses, or the government you hate science or something

It's a weird sci-fi flick from the 1970s starring Sean Connery. Dystopian future where an immortal elite rule over a squabbling brutal lower caste system, who are encouraged to slaughter each and only procreate in order to create more soldiers for killing the peasants. Gets made fun of a lot (mainly for Connery's costume), but it's a surprisingly layered and nuanced film.

I appreciate and agree with Left Coast Dawg, she's been pretty much a part of my cognizant life. I saw 'Fantastic Voyage' in the theaters as a 10-year-old with my sister, a tag along little brother. When the suckers attached themselves to Raquel Welch in a skin-tight swim suit, well, that certainly got this 10-year-old's attention.
I heard over the years many comments that she had a pretty good sense of humor, too.

I remember in the 70s and early 80s people were reporting silent, fast, radar invisible V wing crafts in the skies. And the government went, "haha look at these idiots that think aliens are invading"
And then in 1988 they unveiled that was the B2 bomber.
I suspect some of other stuff people have seen have been other experimental/unrevealed American equipment.
I tend to think what we are seeing now is someone else's experimental/unrevealed equipment. Its not Russia - they are showing what they have in Ukraine. And I don't think China would sent up their stupid spy balloon at the same time as sending over advanced drones. So...who?

Had more fun today than I would have expected. Went to my grandson's first inter-school wrestling match today. They are Junior High (6,7, & 8th). I don't know how it turned out overall on points, but there was 1 bloody nose, 1 dislocated finger, 1 case of badly bruised ribs, and 1 broken wrist. The kids all thought it was the greatest thing ever.
Grandson lost, but at least he wasn't on the casualty list.

Yeah, it takes some research to figure out what cables and adapters to use for your particular laptop and tv. It all has to do with the ports on each. My setup uses HDMI cables, which aren't cheap.

My taste buds fell in love with the pan fried rabbit in, of all places, one of Williamsburg's Historic District restaurants/taverns, The King's Arms Tavern (there are three each with slightly different menus; only TKAT served rabbit). Had it often over the years whenever I was near Williamsburg; it was great to hit it up out of season as there were no tourists (= no lines). Seared in a smaller cast iron pan, finished in the oven and served with that cast iron pan; 'yeah, it's hot, thanks for the warning'. My mouth waters whenever I think of that simple dish. And their peanut soup is to die for, served with the best Sally Lund Bread Snippets ever. You could also have a mug of grog or hot buttered rum. And pecan pie. Just because.

Here in NYC, to date (knock on my head), we've only had two trace snowfalls, basically covering parked cars, in Nov. and a couple of weeks ago. Wed. was 66 degrees. In a few days is my b-day. There were years where there were 'snowed-in' blizzards around my b-day. But this 'winter' has been extremely mild. One frigid cold snap for about three days. But very little freezing temperatures overall, even overnight. I have rarely seen random ice this winter.

Instead of continuing, though, we decided to watch the next episode of Farscape, which series we have been marathoning. The episode? "#408 - I Shrink Therefore I Am" a/k/a Honey I shrunk the crew. Hahhaha.

Closest was at a Wedding Rehearsal. Very close to the full on real thing.
Time came for the Father to "give away the bride".
Wherein he had the auctioneer step out and commence the bidding, and ALL of the Grooms buddies in the congregation began to bid. Wasn't long till the bride's side joined in.
You have never seen a prospective bride shine so RED, in all of your days. Ever. Ain't possible. The Rehearsal Dinner after was a HOWL!

It got better.
The four Groosmen (by advance planning) picked up the tab for the Rehearsal Dinner, thus relieving the Bride's family of that particular expense. And the Groom's family, too.
Military people ain't Civilian people. Just sayin'.

Hubby & I rode to courthouse. My dad & hubby's son were our witnesses. That's all.
Hubby wore jeans and white shirt, black leathers and leather do-rag.
I wore jeans and white blouse, white leathers and had hand-picked bouquet from my yard.
We had drinks afterward at Fapplebees
