Pentagon to Discuss Chinese Spy Balloon and Why Brandon Is Mocked by the World
The Briefing Is a Lie; Pentagon Refuses to Say Anything Except "Everything's Fine"

A Chinese spy balloon is being tracked over the continental US.

hunterbidenballonsresized.jpg

A massive spy balloon believed to be from China was seen above Montana on Thursday and is being tracked as it flies across the continental United States, with President Joe Biden ultimately deciding against "military options" because of the risk to civilians, U.S. officials said on Thursday.

The high-altitude reconnaissance balloon was not the first such vessel to pass over the country in this way, a defense official said in a briefing.

A separate senior official told ABC News the balloon is the size of three buses and complete with a technology bay.

The defense official said they "are confident" the balloon was sent by the Chinese government. "The United States government has detected and is tracking a high-altitude surveillance balloon that is flying over the continental United States right now," Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder told reporters Thursday.

Brandon told the Pentagon to shoot it down, but they ignored him because he's a pathetic old r@pist. They also noted that there would be a danger from falling debris.

China is clowning us.

WASHINGTON -- The United States has detected what it says is a Chinese surveillance balloon that has been hovering over the northwestern United States, the Pentagon said on Thursday, a discovery that comes days before Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken's visit to Beijing.

The Pentagon has chosen, for now, not to shoot down the balloon after a recommendation from senior defense officials that doing so would risk debris hitting people on the ground, according to a senior defense official who was not authorized to speak publicly.

The decision to publicize the discovery appears to put China on notice ahead of Mr. Blinken's Beijing visit -- the first by an American secretary of state in six years -- during which he is expected to meet with President Xi Jinping. The sudden appearance of the balloon is bound to raise already escalating tensions between the two powers.

The official said that while it was not the first time China had sent spy balloons to the United States, this one has appeared to remain over the country for longer.

China's brazen disregard for U.S. sovereignty is a destabilizing action that must be addressed, and President Biden cannot be silent.

I am requesting a Gang of Eight briefing.

The Pentagon will hold a briefing on the Chinese Spy Balloon and why China thinks it can clown us, at 12 pm.

Link to briefing fixed, below.

Update: There is no briefing. The Pentagon official refuses to say anything, beyond "It's not a threat to people on the ground."

Just another Brandon Protection Agency. Defund.

16 There is a 2.5 million discrepancy between the estimated employed, and actual.
BLS: We "fixed" the glitch.

In practical terms, whether the they were merited or purely goalseeked propaganda, the revisions helped to resolve the mystery of missing workers in the labor market. Fed Chair Jerome Powell and most analysts have estimated that about 2.5-3 million workers are “missing” – i.e., most analysts would expect many more workers to be working today if the pandemic hadn’t happened. Well, there was an 813k upward revision to the December payrolls report (which was revised from 153.743 million to 154.556 million) and which explained much of where the "missing workers" went: as expected, they were merely bits in some excel spreadsheet.

74 There are probably some good reasons to not interfere with the device if it's known to be non-threatening (physically). Not showing what our interdiction capability is (maintain the fog of war), feeding to bogus information, intercepting signals and trying to analyze how it works and how the data flow gets back to Beijing, etc.

The answer is not guaranteed to be "rank incompetence" or "corrupt treason" - it's just that such an assessment is a good enough default answer to usually be correct.

While I can't speak to the specifics of this particular balloon scientific overflights are not unusual, and have occurred in many, many, prior Administrations, including the predecessor Administration which I also mentioned to you this morning. I'm not going to compromise or speak to any ongoing operational considerations which I'm sure you understand, and would refer you to the Department of Defense on that.

Given what we've been hearing as of late concerning SADS and other heart fun and games, one wonders just what the real underlying driver for this presentation is all about.

Yes. How quickly we can do it, though, I don't know. We can shoot down satellites, so we can shoot down a balloon. We took out a malfunctioning spy satellite back in the mid aughts and took our time doing it to prevent space junk and impact with the ground. It was a finesse move and it worked flawlessly. And, of course, was a demonstration of our missile defense system's capabilities for rivals to look at and cry about.

There are probably several ways we could take it out. An aircraft-launched missile might be able to get the altitude needed. Missile defense interceptors definitely can. It's not in orbit and it isn't in free-fall, though, so predicting where it will be is likely fairly difficult. That might be another reason we've done nothing - it will take more than one attempt and we don't want to try to do it and also fail, even once.

CBS News, WORLD, 1/25/23 U.S. "concerned" as South Africa to hold war games with Russia, China on Ukraine invasion anniversary, by Sarah Carter

In part, "Johannesburg — Next month, on the one-year anniversary of the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, South Africa will be hosting Russian and Chinese forces for a joint naval exercise. The timing of the drills — which were apparently planned during Russian President Vladimir Putin's unprovoked assault on Ukraine — have the U.S. "concerned," and will at the very least present South Africa with a diplomatic challenge as the world marks a year of brutal warfare with no end in sight."

Express UK, 1/26/23 - The South African National Defence Force said "Exercise Mosi II" will take place between February 17 and February 27 off the country's Indian Ocean coast, to share "operational skills and knowledge."

We don't have enough weapons to fight China
https://tinyurl.com/4dzwj6et

Even as we continue to send literally billions of dollars worth of ammunition, weapons, and other military hardware to Ukraine on a monthly basis, our own military has run critically low on those supplies. In one of many possible bad scenarios looming on the horizon, if we were forced to either go to war against China or even supply Taiwan at a level needed to help them fend off an attack, we would not have enough of a military stockpile to do so. The largest part of the problem comes with our defense companies who produce all of this equipment.

Satellites and balloons are different animals. Modern weapons are designed to ignore things that don't move relative to the wind, like clouds and balloons. The Chinese would love to have the USAF or USN (ship-borne surface-to-air missile) attempt to shoot it down. Success or not they learn a lot about our capability and method(s) to shoot down a high altitude balloon. I expect the USAF and USN have previously done tests with balloons or other test targets that demonstrated if or if not we can destroy this or similar air vehicles.

PS: The Pentagon briefer said the balloon is currently at about 60,000 feet. Also said it is maneuverable and it has maneuvered since entering US airspace. Would not say if it is vertically and/or directionally maneuverable

407 You guys are talking about my old Army missile system, Nike Hercules. It had three war heads it could use, 1) a big assed nuke maybe 20-25 x larger than Hiroshima, 2) a baby nuke 13x larger than Hiroshima, 3) a big ass blast frag with a 3,000 meter lethal radius. Operating ceiling for aircraft squadrons was ~30,000 feet with all three warheads. It would never be able to reach the ballon altitude and a high yield burst at max altitude would emp a large swathe of the country. Not a good option.

Now, an ASAT round on an f-15, that would remove it no problem. Or an f-105 with a cannon, lined up appropriate could shoot it, maybe, in the 2-ish seconds everything lined up to do so. Wonder why our new fighters no longer have cannons?

The British government decided not to get involved in the famine because it would cause economic problems, and they thought it would resolve itself better that way. The landlords that were growing wheat were exporting it because they could get a better price overseas.
Now, it did force mass exodus to the Americas and England, and the Irish love to nurse a grudge, but the famine could have been resolved, just there was not enough interest to solve the logistics problems.

Yeah, I noticed that, too. I wonder how many are participation awards and how many are for some individual accomplishment? I'm too lazy to look them up.

(Disclaimer: all my ribbons were participation awards)

527 Understatement! Fair skin, lotsa black hair . . . I always pictured her as a willowy blonde, but hey --!

I can't find the 99 red balloon video where the lots black hair included the underarms. For some reason I can't explain, that was kind of exciting to see when I was a very young man.

I know what you mean. It wasn't really attractive, but it was weird and sexually off-putting because your brain knew it was pubic hair. And she's European, so it's kind of expected, especially back when even civilized American women were still letting stuff grow elsewhere.

532 So if'n I were a chinaman, and I wanted to test out my new antilaser reflector stuff on the enemy's gear, how might I do that?

Paint it on a slow moving high altitude balloon, fitted with instruments and telemetry to gather data and wire it back to me, and fly that balloon over the enemies sensitive military installations. I get to see how good the enemies ground based, air based, sat based energy weapons are if everything goes well. If it doesn't, maybe my anti laser paint falls into the enemies hands (but we have it already, better than theirs anyway) so why not?

That would be very funny if it were not so pathetically dumb. Someone should remind this "official" that balloons have no means of propulsion; they go where the winds take them.
