Massive "Gold Standard" Meta-Study on Masks Finds That Masking Makes "Little to No Difference" in Covid Protection
A meta-study is a study that doesn't create its own data set, but instead takes the data sets of already-published studies and re-analyzes that data, combining it into one big pool of information.
JustTheNews:The only masks that might have any protective effect are N95 masks, which practically nobody wears and which are rarely worn properly. But even with that top-of-the-line mask, the study struggled to find any benefit. They just can't rule one out. The article notes that White House "advisers" attempt to undermine these studies. I think it means randomized control trial.

Masks are still required in educational institutions in Democratic strongholds such as New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Washington and California, according to the Daily Mail. Boston Public Schools denied its "temporary masking protocol" in early January was a "mandate," following a public letter against the policy by student Enrique Abud Evereteze. ... The team added 11 new randomized controlled trials and "cluster-RCTs," which randomize groups of subjects rather than individuals, to its prior review from November 2020, for a total of 78 studies. The additions included COVID pandemic trials: two from Mexico and one each from England, Norway, Denmark and Bangladesh, the latter two well known internationally. The Danish study had trouble finding a major journal willing to publish its controversial findings that wearing surgical masks had no statistically significant effect on infection rates, even among those who claimed to wear them "exactly as instructed."
Mainstream media overlooked red flags in the Bangladeshi mask study, which found no effect for surgical masks under age 50 and a difference of only 20 infections between control and treatment groups among 342,000 adults.
... They measured risk ratios, which below 1 means the intervention improved the outcome and above 1 worsened it. The closer to 1, the less effect it had. In the community, mask-wearing "probably makes little to no difference" in either influenza-like or COVID-like illness (0.95) or "laboratory-confirmed" infections of either virus (1.01). While the confirmed-infections finding had a much wider confidence interval, the team called both these results "moderate-certainty evidence."

Even the reports that recommended masking had large holes in their conclusions. They invariably suggested that masking, in conjunction with social distancing and proper hand hygiene, was effective, but refused to indicate the degree to which they helped when used in combination with the other measures.

Some areas show minor decline in the rate. Some show increases in the rate. Some are flat. The average outcome is nothing, to mildly positive (e.g., worse), though not meaningfully.
It was obvious from infection data, within a couple of weeks' time, that masks didn't do anything to prevent the spread of COVID. Big meta-studies are good to see in retrospect, but data available at the time showed the same thing, albeit less rigorously.

Try wearing an N95 mask when you have asthma....
They gave me one once at the VA when I went in because I have a beard and the mask catches on the beard hairs and pulls down when you talk. The nurse got mad and said I would have to leave if my mask kept falling down. I told her well then, stop asking me questions I have to answer. She handed me a precious N95 mask at that point. I never went back to the VA after that.

The pore size of an N95 mask is 0.3 micron. The size of the virus is 0.05 microns. A ball of over 100 virus particles can fit through.
A study of patients found that the aerosols they exhaled got smaller the sicker they were with sick patients having 90% of all particles smaller than 0.3 microns.
The N95 has 0 chance of stopping transmission. The particles that get you sick need only one viable SARS-CoV-2 virus in it to make you sick.

I remember having to go into the office in 2020, months after we shut down and all the new rules were in flux. IN order get to my 2nd story cubicle to retrieve something, I had to fill out a waiver to enter the building, declare if I'd been in contact with any known cases, use hand sanitizer, follow arrows on the ground for "proper circulation" (this is in an empty building, mind you), use the proper staircase for UP traffic, then follow more arrows to my cube -- all while wearing a mask.
The time and effort and money spent on utter, laughable inanity is still astounding to contemplate. Then I think about seriously crazy places like New Zealand.

Signs about keeping well, signs with the rules, signs with adjusted conference room capacities, signs for the break room, signs on the floors, etc. - all professionally designed, printed and installed. For a building that didn't reopen (it has now, but not then). They were expecting it to be over quickly and positioned a full-court press of shiny corporate propaganda. It was surreal.

My theory from the start was, and remains, that it was employed to hasten their commie engineering of society. It doesn't have to work on everyone. In some ways it's better if it doesn't, since division is one of the things they most want to engineer.
Then again, I also claimed the light bulb ban was instituted to do said same - if you control the light around people - especially in their times of relaxation and reverie - as well as where they shop and do business - you can in theory make it easier to get them to accept novel information they may otherwise reject. You have altered their environment. You have given them a subconscious reason to accept "change".
When you look at when everything started to really go to fuck in this country - 2012-2014 - it sits in very suspicious partnership with the time when incandescents were changed out for the the mercury bulbs and then leds.

I wrote before about "religion" as the media of Collective Vision of a society. The dogma, enforcement, and zealot behavior of humans in a religious society can be replicated in a secular society.
So, when the Court decided that it can plan out the Collective Vision of the Rights of Man, we essentially lost self-government. We keep on running into the Vision of the elite.
They, as do the libertarians and the progressives, want to use the Constitution as a Holy Writ or manifesto. This crowds the people out. I content we probably entered critical status with the California Court reversing the Gay Marriage Prop.

The end of TV and radio ads for cigarettes was around 1970 or '71. Those continued in magazines and paperback books for quite a while, including ads for pipe smoking products, and you could still smoke in restaurants and bars. Bit by bit, though, they've worked their propaganda so that nowadays if you even mention smoking, you're an instant pariah.
The famous Surgeon General's report from '64 mentions in passing that pipe smokers live longer than cigarette smokers. No surprise there. What nobody ever mentions is that they found pipe smokers tend to live longer than nonsmokers.

Except no study shows that N95 masks have any protective effect against C19 or any other virus.
What is worse, is that an N95 can trap bacteria that is naturally breathed out, incubated in the moist warm air of breath, and return into the lungs. There is also the issue of oxygenation that is hampered by the intentional restricted breathing.

Kind of a small sample size, but my guess is that has more to do with lifestyle and average wealth of pipe smokers than the tobacco use.
Anybody that thinks deliberately sucking burning material and smoke into their lungs is not somehow detrimental is demented.

That is ultimately what clinched it for me. We had two case studies: the cruise ship and the aircraft carrier. Both demonstrated clearly that this wasn't as dangerous as it was sold to be.

True, it was a small sample size, even though pipe smokers were more prevalent back then than they are now. And no sensible pipe smoker inhales. I've never had the least interest in cigarettes, even though my mother smoked and the habit was all around me when I was young.
