For the first time in more than 60 years, Florida is now the fastest-growing state in the country, according to data released by the Census Bureau on Thursday.
Florida's population grew to 22,244,823 between 2021 and 2022, an increase of 1.9% in the span of one year. It's an impressive feat considering that Florida is already the third-most populous state in the union. The state's growth rate had to be significant to cinch the top spot out of all 50 states, something Florida hasn't done since 1957.

The South as a whole gained 1,200,000+ residents. Meanwhile, the North and Midwest lost population. Texas has now passed 30 million residents, making it the only state besides declining California in the 30 million club.

CNN's honcho Chris Licht has told Don LeMon to remain sober during work for one night.

Though there's no word yet on whether any CNN personalities will be allowed to smoke a joint on live TV, as happened in 2017 or jump into a liquor-filled tub with a drag queen, which happened in 2019, it appears that longtime CNNer Don Lemon will be hardest hit and has let it be known that he is not happy about it. And the "exception to the rule" thing with Cooper and Cohen being allowed to drink has also reportedly been taken back:

This year, Licht said in one internal meeting that Cooper and Cohen will be permitted to imbibe, prompting Cooper to tell network leadership he's concerned at the perception that only the two white hosts are permitted to drink.
Licht then walked that rule back: "Chris made an offhand remark in a town hall about drinking during the NYE program," an aide said. "Shortly after, he proactively reached out to Anderson to clarify that his comments were meant as a joke and that he preferred no drinking on air at all."
In any event Lemon, who will likely be dispatched to hard-partying New Orleans, was not pleased about the sober state of things, another CNN insider said.

Del Rio Sector Border Patrol agents apprehended more than 1,100 migrants during a five-hour period Tuesday morning. The apprehensions took place in a small section of the border south of Eagle Pass. Agents apprehended more than 400 in a single group.

Human smugglers use the large migrant group tactic to tie up Border Patrol resources for hours. This enables them to move drugs and other high-value human cargo" across the border with less chance of being apprehended. The large groups who crossed in the overnight hours this morning caused agents to remain on duty for nearly 12 hours, the source stated. Other resources had to be called in early.

75 Unscientific sampling, but regular contacts with BP over the last few years (actually extending back to pre-Trump) has suggested some pretty clear patterns. The older more veteran guys were (pre-2017) very demoralized, for obvious reasons (one notable officer who came into the range and joined volunteered without prompting, right before the 2016 election, that "if something doesn't change in November, don't know what I'll do"). Same thing with the older guys now, of course.

Younger ones are pumped up, often action-chasing sorts of the kind you always have (and need) in a service like that. They acknowledge the s**t-show, recognize they can make a difference only on the margins and only WRT the worst, most violent illegals - but they like the adrenaline.

But given the actual way things work now, very open question whether any of it is worth the bother, from a national standpoint. And the voters should be given what they want, good and hard (though that, too, is obviously pointless, as there is no learning curve or even basic civic competence in the wider population).

He's been in new home construction sales since the 1980's. The market is dead - layoffs everywhere. He's moving to Florida next year. People are a LOT more friendlier here.
