Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | The Morning Report — 12/27/22![]() Democratic Arizona Governor-elect Katie Hobbs joined Maricopa County in filing sanctions against her former Republican opponent, Kari Lake, in court Monday. The request for sanctions came after Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Peter Thompson on Saturday ruled against Lake’s lawsuit challenging the November gubernatorial election with allegations of fraud and intentional misconduct. The 10-page ruling said the former Republican candidate’s witnesses lacked knowledge of intentional misconduct. . . . . . Hobbs’ attorneys joined the Maricopa County Defendants who are seeking $25,050, which includes $18,730 in attorneys’ fees, from Lake over her alleged “groundless” claims that they said were “not made in good faith,” according to Monday’s suit. The document said the sanctions are “more than warranted,” citing Lake’s previous statement that she would “accept the results of the gubernatorial election only if she were the winning candidate. . .” . . . The county and Hobbs’ attorneys said the courts “should not be used to harass political opponents and sow completely unfounded doubts about the integrity of elections.” The document further alleged Lake’s lawsuit stemmed from a “lack of legal and factual merit” in order to “spread disinformation” about the election. . . . . . [Lake's attorney Bryan] Blehm further pushed back against Maricopa County’s claim that Lake’s witnesses cited no evidence to suggest intentional misconduct, arguing the court did show evidence of “intent and outcome determinative misconduct” and “legitimate” concerns about the state of Arizona’s election process. “Plaintiff’s [sic] put forth evidence in good faith that showed substantial support for her claims—claims which also remain of great public concern,” the document concluded. “Defendants’ motion for sanctions is not supported by case law or the record. Trust in the election process is not furthered by punishing those who bring legitimate claims as Plaintiff did here. In fact, sanctioning Plaintiff would have the opposite effect. . .Emphasis mine on both lines (the raging chutzpocrisy of the first is staggering) and for obvious reasons. Aside from the fact that Lake IMHO is for sure a rising star in the MAGA mold, this is meant to send a message akin to the dead fish wrapped in Luca Brasi's flak jacket. Not just to Lake but to anyone who dares defy them, and not just regarding stolen elections. The enemy now control much of the courts and so legal redress is even more of a crapshoot than it would be in what would be considered normal times. It's also expensive. Look what they did to Mike Flynn as well as the J-6 political prisoners who "confessed" to the trumped up charges. Of course, Flynn et al did not seek redress in the courts; they were arrested and had a slew of phony federal charges flung at them by the FBI and DOJ which are acting as political hit squads that are Gestapo in all but name only. Thus far the Twitter File dumps have been mostly about the FBI using Twitter to silence conservatives and run cover for Hunter Biden’s laptop — perhaps effectively altering the 2020 election — and about how the CIA, Department of Defense (DOD), and practically every other government agency jumped on the Twitter censorship bandwagon for their own nefarious purposes. Monday’s Twitter Files dump is about the government silencing anyone who dared question “the science” surrounding anything to do with the Hong Kong Fluey. . . . . . We have learned that Twitter wasn’t only used by the FBI and CIA to spy on and silence Americans. It was also used to censor people — many of whom were doctors and medical specialists — who dared to question or disagree with the White House’s version of “science.” The Biden administration got “very angry” when Twitter execs refused to suspend everyone the White House deemed to be a “problem,” but Twitter did squelch many medical specialists who questioned the official COVID narrative. The bots and moderators were sometimes unable to distinguish actual CDC information from the medical opinions of dissenters, but the scorched-earth policy of silencing people could and did censor them as well. Our government is using Twitter — and almost every tech company — to spy on us and to silence us when we question their version of “science.” Stalin would be proud.Kari Lake is just the latest example of phase two in the death and transformation of what was our once relatively free republic. She may very well be forced to go the Mike Flynn route lest she be wiped out financially by continuing the fight, as she evidently intends on doing. As I said, she's too loud and articulate a voice, and shallow as it might be, attractive a person for the Left to just leave alone. If she survives this naked persecution, she will no doubt run again and perhaps be a figure on the national stage as the 2024 campaign kicks off. But that said, given what happened to her and all our candidates in both 2022 and 2020, the question of elections themselves once again comes into sharp focus. How did a man claiming to have only $100,000 to his name manage to meet a $250 million bond? Well, his parents put up their house, likely worth a tiny fraction of the bond. As for the rest, Bankman-Fried just signed a piece of paper promising to pay it back if he doesn’t show up to court. Yes, the Justice Department just approved the release of the alleged perpetrator of what appears to be the world’s biggest financial fraud on a naked promise that he would pay them back if he skipped town. Bankman-Fried, like Hunter Biden before him, exposes the bankruptcy of our supposedly democratic system. Bankman-Fried got the sweetheart bond deal because the Justice Department doesn’t punish its coconspirators. He was the second largest donor in the 2022 midterm election and an essential player in the joint government-oligarchy project to guide elections to enhance mutual power. In the same week Bankman-Fried walked out of jail, the FBI issued a chilling response to the bombshell revelations about its sprawling censorship regime. We now know the FBI meddled in elections by paying millions to Twitter and likely other social media companies to censor disfavored political speech that threatened to derail favored candidates. “The correspondence between the FBI and Twitter show nothing more than examples of our traditional, longstanding and ongoing federal government and private sector engagements, which involve numerous companies over multiple sectors and industries,” the bureau said in a statement. “It is unfortunate that conspiracy theorists and others are feeding the American public misinformation with the sole purpose of attempting to discredit the agency.” In other words, the FBI admits to guiding social media censorship and acknowledges that it is both widespread and routine. But censorship isn’t the problem, from the FBI’s point of view. Complaining about the FBI is the problem. Noticing their misconduct and objecting to it is to blame for the damage to its reputation. And those who continue criticizing the bureau might find themselves on the “misinformation” list that silences American dissidents. Republicans, no longer pretending to be the opposition party, just helped get the FBI a $600 million budget increase after the censorship bombshells conclusively demonstrated extensive bureau meddling in election-related speech. Every member of Congress now serving has won at least one election in the present era of FBI election manipulation. Some are probably beneficiaries. Should we be surprised that there are so few voices calling for it to end? But maybe if we vote harder! Maybe the economic conditions, the memory of the riots of 2020, and dissatisfaction with the regime’s pandemic policy will lead the American electorate to wake up and vote smarter? If the FBI could stop a Democratic rout in 2022, why should 2024 be any different? Candidate quality? Don’t insult our intelligence. So Republicans need to run more candidates like John Fetterman? . . . . . So why participate in an election that’s being manipulated by the FBI and other government agencies? In sham democracies, when the government refuses to adhere to international standards of fairness and transparency, the opposition parties have simply boycotted the elections. . . . . . The FBI censorship scandal is just the latest in a string of questionable actions by the Justice Department that have impacted our elections. . . . . . Election fraud suspicions have been incredibly difficult to confirm and pursuing wilder claims has come at the expense of scrutinizing the government’s own election misconduct that has happened in plain sight. We can prove government-directed censorship of election-related speech. Now that the FBI said it plans to continue or even expand these efforts, we have a choice to make. Do we legitimize the sham by trying really really really hard to overcome the rigged political forum? Or do we just boycott these sham elections until the FBI stops directing our political process?Well, a boycott of elections would not and should not be just about stopping FBI interference. What this nation needs is a complete boycott and national strike, period. Can it happen? Will it happen? Under normal circumstances, the American character and attitude does not take to this sort of action. But we are no longer under normal circumstances, politically, culturally and increasingly economically. "When you ain't got nothing, you got nothing to lose." At that point, what we're seeing in China, Iran and Brazil – regardless of what the ultimate outcome may be – could happen here. It had better if God forbid the whole shithouse goes up in flames.

Despite the long shot of Kari Lake actually winning her lawsuit and having the "victory" of abortion mouse Katie Hobbs overturned, the importance of bringing the suit vis a vis exposing the criminal acts of those running Arizona's elections, the epicenter being Maricopa County, was evident.
The court said that absent actual testimony from a flipped guilty party, or equivalent iron-clad evidence, the obvious fraud in Maricopa could not be punished. In other words, quoting Hairy Reid, "It worked, didn't it?" Posted by: Huck Follywood at December 27, 2022 07:44 AM (lgcZR) 13

She'll be out of her house for about 2 months while they work. She's lost all her kitchen appliances and food and cabinets and flooring. It's triage on the rest of her house: Valuables secured off-site, redeemables to be cleaned and repaired, lost causes to be chucked into a dumpster. Our county road commission has set back rules and rules regarding mailbox supporting structure. You cannot have concrete, large steel posts etc permanently set in the county right of way which could cause damage to snow plows , graders , or severe injury to the general public.

I'd argue we are already there, insofar as the Trump team faces proscription. His lawyers, his WH advisors, and even his family have seen their assets seized, barred from their jobs and, in some cases, freedom taken away, without normal due process.
Posted by: Huck Follywood at December 27, 2022 08:02 AM (bFKdt) Eh, I'd still say we are prior to that. Mob violence? Check. The thing about these things though is that they have stages. Eventually we get to the point where the legal remedies (and shady legal remedies) are not having the desired effect. The introduction of mob violence offers the siren song of just executing your opponents though. We are not quite there yet, merely in the physical and legal intimidation phase. It will be along shortly though as the legal and intimidation does not get the effect they desire. Posted by: Aetius451AD at December 27, 2022 08:12 AM (CsVWE) 76

Should We Boycott the 2024 Election?
-- This really is a no-win situation for us. And they, the entire malevolent forces running Washington, know it. Why vote when the voting process has been so severely degraded? When it's as honest as the reelection of any communist dictator? We're over a barrel. I'll not vote for any GOP on the federal level again until something major disrupts the landscape. That includes to ousting of Mitch McConnell, and every like-minded Republican, which is the absolute root of the problem of that party. I will, however, still vote in state and local elections. Dumb = unintelligent Stupid = lack of common sense Ignorance = lack of education Racism = disdain or hatred based on the color of one's skin She is dumb, stupid, ignorant racist who sees Jews as just white people who pray weird. She does not see them as a separate race. They just white folks who wear funny hats. To people like Goldberg, it's all about the color of one's skin. For her, Jewish = religious affiliation. Nothing more, nothing less than religious white people. And most importantly they are white people. That's it. That's all she can comprehend. Simple. Under normal circumstances, the American character and attitude does not take to this sort of action.
Maybe we could get some lessons from the French. We have The Book Of The Month Club, they have The Strike OTMC. /s But seriously, the deck, even in strikes, is stacked against Joe Ordinary. The USPS has been bailed out every year since 2007, and just got another $10B for EVs. And they threw the workers into Medicare, for which they never contributed before. Or take the UAW, please, which was the only group to come out whole from the GM bankruptcy. Or this month's bailout of the Teamsters, to the tune of $36B. Mail, package delivery, trucking, auto making, public schools, Amtrak, you name it, we've bailed them out and will do so again. I took the person who told me this to task for allowing the "open secret" to stay that way. It is also an "open secret" that DC doesn't give two fucks about Ukraine, but cares deeply about donors and power and that we're very involved because of American oligarch money. Should We Boycott the 2024 Election?
Honestly, this whole Unconditional Surrender via voting boycott is one of the stupider ideas to come along. 1) It totally ignores human nature. Most of the "Voter harder" sneering group all say "something" has to happen to change things. Well, what? I suppose they' tap-dancing around the "something" ranges from mass demonstrations, a national strike, to violent revolution. All of these things involve amassing a large majority of people who believe as you do and who you have convinced. In short, how does not voting convince anyone of anything except you're too jaded or lazy to vote? It doesn't. 2) Voting forces them to cheat and at some point it will become obvious esp. if we have people like Kari Lake who will sue to point out the blatant injustice and if the numbers of people sick of the "Great Reset" vote against it keep rising. Because - 3) Sitting on your lame ass allows them to win without cheating. Get that? Even if it's a super-low turnout and the Dims win by 50.0000001% they win legitimately. They might want to cheat. They might love to cheat. But, why cheat when you can win legitimately? (con't) Posted by: naturalfake at December 27, 2022 09:02 AM (KLPy8) 230

I went to a "Boxing Day" party last night and a friend was there, a guy who invests other people's savings (calls himself a "money manager"). Anyway, he was trying to sell me on the idea the stock market is going up in 2023, because it always goes up about 6 months before the economy improves. He presumes the parade of bad news can't go on forever and, therefore, it is worth investing now.

4) Again human nature. If you're not willing to fight for yourself, why would the Dims even consider you? Same for the Republicans. If you're the weakling, who keeps handing his money over to the bully? Will the bully stop? No. Will anyone help you when you're too lame to even try defend yourself? No. You simply live in Belleville and hope the bullies won't hurt you too much. 5) You don't have to vote for a Republican. Does a voter for Corny or Miss Lindsay, etc get you anything. No, it does not. Why not vote for whatever lame-ass (and in Texas, Corny's opponents are always the worst) why not try to unseat the people who hate you anyway. Yeah, it's not optimum but it's something. 6) If the Dims control every single fucking thing nationally, then they can target your "safe" state for some special ballot box enhancement. Large amounts of opposition votes nationally prevent this. 7) YMMV. You're all big boys and big girls, and can do as you please, but when has doing nothing gotten you anything you wanted? It hasn't. Unconditional surrender only gets you more of what you surrendered to. Posted by: naturalfake at December 27, 2022 09:13 AM (KLPy8) 252

Posted by: CrotchetyOldJarhead at December 27, 2022 09:17 AM (TgNpw) No, I'd say it's Vote Smarter and vote because it's smarter. Politics is a persuasion game.To get anything you want politically you must persuade large amounts of people. Most people at the HQ are plugged in politically to a far far greater degree than most voters. Those voters have to see the same things we do, the same way we do, if we're to win. And winning won't all be at once. "Voting Harder" if you wish, limits the Dims to a certain extent, because they have to expend time and money to win. I think everyone forgets just how awful this economy is, and a big reminder is coming next year with a hard recession. A good chance is coming in statewide votes and even at the national level. And yes, there will be cheating. But, there may be enough votes to flip some things if the margin is big enough. Or prove fraud. But, you don't have to vote for the Republican. This is important because we have the McConnell and crew issue. They need to go. Posted by: naturalfake at December 27, 2022 09:35 AM (KLPy8) 298

Election integrity starts with having a national organization that can apply the fundamentals to the party. First, especially in swing states, we should have people whose sole job is knowing how many legitimate voters there are in any district. Instead of wasting hundreds of millions on worthless ads and campaign consultants, let's get the voter roles correct as a starting point.

You do not keep playing in a game that is rigged. Or do you like being the Washington Generals? -------------- A no confidence vote that gives the Dem more power is a bit scary. But long term it may be the best (and only) way. Still, it does carry risk. Is the GOP the Washington Generals, or just the older GOP. It seems like the newer crop is a bit better. What happens when McConnell and Cornyn are finally done? I don't know. I'll just keep on voting for who I think best represents me. If you think it wasted effort, so be it. The GOP is the Washington Generals. Trust me, they have screening processes at even the state level to weed out troublemakers. The party itself is completely under corporate control, by design. I was a former somewhat insider that has met every single governor of my state. Friends in government now. It's very bad.

Your point #2 is standard Con failure. See, we showed them cheating! We're winning! That has never worked. Boycotting Federal elections is a no confidence vote. The GOP would be annihilated. That would be a benefit. You do not keep playing in a game that is rigged. Or do you like being the Washington Generals? Posted by: Crom Laughs at December 27, 2022 09:26 AM (hixdV) Okay, so the GOP is annihilated nationally. Explain the benefit or is that your endgame? The one playing as the Washington Generals is you. No matter what the other team is doing, you work to lose because that is who you are. But, if the Washington Generals ran up enough points to force the game to be called by the referee with some hinky maneuver. Wouldn't that demonstrated something to the fans, wouldn't that delegitimize the Harlem Globetrotters? Wouldn't that spoil the fun? You just want to surrender...so, surrender. This is a similar article:
Japan has finalized an agreement with the United Kingdom and Italy to jointly develop a next-generation fighter aircraft by 2035, a move that will see Tokyo cooperate for the first time with countries other than the United States to meet a major defense requirement. The move involves merging the Japanese Defense Ministry’s F-X fighter plans with those for Britain’s Tempest. Those programs were to replace the Air Self-Defense Force’s F-2 jet and the Royal Air Force’s Eurofighter Typhoon, respectively, with both aircraft being developed to a similar schedule and needing to meet almost identical requirements. The stealthy, twin-engined fighter will be developed under the Global Combat Air Programme, with Japan’s Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Britain’s BAE Systems set to lead the project. Other companies expected to be involved include IHI and Rolls-Royce, both of which will be tasked with engine development, as well as MBDA U.K., which will focus on weapon systems. ... https://tinyurl.com/yza3spft Posted by: []Braenyard, _ want nuremberg trials? badger your congressman[] at December 27, 2022 09:53 AM (jd+Ya) 315

![]() There is no reforming the GOP. Destroying it at least allows for a new party. Regardless, we aren't going to win at the national level. It isn't surrender. It is reality. Charging the trenches through no-man's land, one more time, will not lead to victory. Not providing a patina of legitimacy to DC is important. From there is it working locally to begin subverting and ignoring their authority. Posted by: Crom Laughs at December 27, 2022 10:29 AM (hixdV) 320
The standards for sanctions in most states is pretty high - pretty much requiring the court to find that the underlying action was frivolous. Highly unlikely in this case - there was obvious malfeasance, with the judge ruling that proof of malice fell short.
But - in some states (don't know about Arizona), the pendency of a sanctions request can foul up appealability because it makes the case "not-final" (finality being a general requirement for taking an appeal). Time is of the essence in this lawsuit. Again - don't know the rule in AZ, but the delay involved in a sanctions claim could be problematic . . . ?? You do have to remember to swing the sucker back out to the road after you get your seed catalogues in, though.

SEOUL, South Korea - South Korea’s president on Tuesday called for stronger air defenses and high-tech stealth drones while the military apologized for failing to shoot down North Korean drones that crossed the border for the first time in five years.
South Korea’s military scrambled warplanes and attack helicopters on Monday, but they failed to bring down any of the North Korean drones that flew back home or disappeared from South Korean radars. It raised serious questions about South Korea’s air defense network at a time when tensions remain high over North Korea’s torrid run of missile tests this year. _FOX Posted by: []Braenyard, _ want nuremberg trials? badger your congressman[] at December 27, 2022 10:47 AM (jd+Ya) 327

Trump Thinks Democrats Have 'Something Big' on Mitch McConnell Isn't McConnell's wife tied to China? Yep, Elaine Chao. And China and the WEF have been joined together for decades to destroy Western nations across the world. China and the WEF control the Deep State. When the barbarians were storming the walls of Rome, where did the elites hive themselves off to? I now understand how empires collapse, slowly, then suddenly. I used to wonder how the Brits felt as the empire imploded; it took them merely 30 years. It started in 1918 and by 1948 it was all but over.
Who could have expected that in 1988 it would take about the same amount of time to see the US collapse. I'm glad I will not see Obama's kids crowned king/gerbil/bisexual. Posted by: Fred at December 27, 2022 07:07 PM (EcD5Y) Processing 0.04, elapsed 0.0532 seconds. |
