Mollie Hemingway: The GOP Will Never Be Successful Until Mitch McConnell Is Finally Gone

Righteous.

Comments Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell made on Tuesday show why he has become the single biggest obstacle to GOP success.

The Kentucky Republican claimed giving more money to Ukraine is "the No. 1 priority for the United States right now, according to most Republicans." The new $1.7 trillion Democrat spending bill he enthusiastically supports would give Ukraine another roughly $45 billion in assistance, bringing the total over the past eight months to more than $100 billion, a staggering figure even if it weren't happening during a time of inflation, looming recession, and other serious domestic problems.

The comment about Republican priorities is so false as to be completely delusional. Among the many concerns Republican voters have with Washington, D.C., a failure to give even more money to Ukraine simply does not rank.

...

Republicans care deeply about borders and national sovereignty, but they rank the protection of their own open border far above the protection of the borders of other countries. It is worth remembering that the longest government shutdown in U.S. history occurred in 2019 over a fight between Congress and President Donald Trump over whether to commit a relatively paltry $5 billion to protect our country's southern border, which Congress had refused to fund.

Another comment from McConnell also shocked Republicans. Of the $1.7 trillion left-wing spending spree McConnell is working so hard to help Democrats pass, he said, unbelievably, that he was "pretty proud of the fact that with a Democratic president, Democratic House, and Democratic Senate, we were able to achieve through this omnibus spending bill essentially all of our priorities." As an indication of how deeply sick and broken and unserious the Senate is, no one had even begun to read the lengthy bill, which was put forward just hours before votes began.

The American people voted for Republicans to take over control of the House of Representatives, and House Republicans had begged McConnell to push for a smaller, short-term bill to keep the government funded while also giving them a rare opportunity to weigh in on Biden's policy goals. McConnell allies dismissed House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy and other House members who tried to persuade Republican senators not to support Democrats' spending frenzy.

Budgets are policy documents, and the only leverage Republicans have is to wait a few weeks for when they will have a much stronger hand to weigh in on every issue that matters. By ramming through the $1.7 trillion package during the lame-duck session, Republicans will have significantly less ability over the next year to fight against Democrats' destruction of rule of law in the Department of Justice, the failure to protect American borders, the destruction of the military, and Democrat collusion with Big Tech to suppress conservatives and their ideas.

The spending bill McConnell asserted was good for all of his priorities rewards the FBI with brand new headquarters and ups the funding for the DOJ to enable it to go after even more of its political opponents while protecting its political allies.

It's perhaps worth remembering that during the 2020 Georgia runoff campaign, McConnell blocked efforts to increase funding for Americans who had their businesses and jobs shut down by government mandate during the response to Covid-19. Spending is not a problem for him, so long as the right people receive the funds.

I have deliberately not quoted the best part of the article, which is the rousing peroration in which Mitch McConnell's long, long and steadfast service as bagman for the Democrat Leftist Establishment is detailed. You've probably forgotten many of these betrayals.

mccconnellcrushteaparty.jpg

Definitely read it. It's a banger.

Maria Bartiromo spoke with House Republican James Comer about Mitch McConnell's betrayal regarding FBI funding, giving them extra money even as it's revealed they've been depriving Americans of their first amendment rights for years.

Of course, McConnell supports that. He's a thuggish tool of the oligarchs.

COMER: The one thing that we have the ability to do is stop the spending. Stop the spending. We need an FBI we really do. But this FBI is out of control. It is doing things, that Congress never granted the authority to do. In no way, shape or form should the government be in the business of censoring free speech, whether liberal or conservative speech that is just something the government should not do.

But to dedicate a task force of at least 80 employees to do nothing but communicate with social media sites, telling them what soties to suppress, who to ban, is just wrong. It is a gross misuse of taxpayer dollars and a violation of the Constitution.

And to think that as we speak, the Senate is sitting here giving them more money for the next 12 months, tying our hands and our ability to get the FBI in front of the committee. One way we could get the FBI in front of the committee really quickly is say we're not giving you a penny, until you all come down here and explain to us, what this task force was, why you told Twitter to suppress the Hunter Biden laptop story when you knew darn well it was true.

The Senate is counter to everything we're trying to do in the House from an oversight standpoint right now, especially with respect to the FBI.

BARTIROMO: That is horrible who or senators agreeing to this, Mitch McConnell? Who else?

COMER: We've got Richard Shelby, Rob Portman, and ironically, Maria, a lot of senators are going out of office, they are not even going to be in Congress in 10 days. This is something that should be punted until first of the year, we've got questions.

Look at the southern border, we are in order holding anyone accountable from a budgetary standpoint for the crisis at the border, we're not holding anyone accountable at the debacle in the NIH and the CDC, all the bad decisions they made, and all the money they waisted during Covid. And here we are with the FBI, an agency that is clearly out of control. No one, no one in Congress, even the liberals, would say the FBI has gone any business you censoring free speech.

BARTIROMO: This is one more piece of evidence that the Senate Republicans are working against the American people. There is no other way to look at it. They continue to go with Democrat colleagues and vote for this spending, and then they complain that inflation is at 40-year highs.

...

The idea that the FBI was paying Twitter, okay? I know the FBI and DOJ pays human sources, to do their work, they paid spies during Russia collusion story, that whole made-up story that Trump colluded with Russia, they paid old spies is to entrap Trump officials. What did they do with Twitter? Why is the FBI paying Twitter? That is outrageous.

COMER: According to the latest Twitter dump, the FBI was spending so much time with Twitter executives, every two weeks having meetings that lasted for hours, telling them what stories to suppress, what looked like disinformation, who to ban from Twitter, I -- I mean things that the FBI has no business doing. They reimbursed them for their time, over $3 million dollars over a two-year period. And that is just Twitter, we don't know how much they paid Facebook, Google, YouTube, the other social media platforms.

80 employees, that's roughly $12 million dollars in salary and benefits dedicated to policing social media sites, are you kidding me? At a time when crime is out of control, human trafficking is out of control, we have a crisis of fentanyl, we have a crisis of shoplifting, and the crime rate in these cities is higher than it has been in my adult lifetime, ans the FBI's focused on policing social media sites? This is a gross misuse of the taxpayer dollars.

Video at the link.

RedState points out some of the other "victories" Mitch McConnell "won" for us by deliberately cutting the newly-elected GOP House out of negotiations:

GUYS!!! McCONNELL GOT THE DEMOCRATS TO SPEND MILLIONS ON THE KEY CONSERVATIVE PRIORITY OF "LGBT PRIDE HOUSES"!

You Lucky Duckies! How stoked are all of you?!

I suggest returning all the GOP's solicitations for money with the message, "The zero dollars included matches the zero votes you will receive from me until and unless Mitch McConnell, and his neocon cronies, are deposed from Senate leadership."

The Senate leadership? Yes, but why stop there? *All* GOP leadership - Senate, House, States, Party, all of it - needs to be purged. They care nothing about individual voters because that is not their true constituency. Their true constituency is DC and all the lobbyists, cronies, bribe-makers, and corruption infesting the place.

State voters don't elect Senators who then represent that state's interest in DC. Senators represent DC's interest in their states.

---------------

Oh, Mollie. This exact thing applies directly the vasty majority of #conservatives in America. Forcible confiscation and redistribution of wealth is perfectly fine for most #conservatives, so long as that money is administered by the right people and it flows to their pet causes.

From government indoctrination of children, to government handouts to the full range of gibzmedats, to the government enforcers, to government retirement. #conservatives LOVES them gibzmedats, frequently in the form of checks that start and never stop so long as the recipient still breathes air.

I have wondered for the last 6 or so years if in the end, it'll be a very small, well-armed network of insurgents fighting the vast majority of the country. How can anyone claim to be fighting the system when they're cashing a monthly check and feeding themselves directly from the system?

1. Between election day and the seating of the new Congress, nothing should be permitted to be voted on other than emergency measures. Emergency shall be defined as requiring at least 80% support from both houses AND have no permanent impact.
2. In any year in which Congress passes an omnibus spending bill rather than one for each department, all members of Congress are removed from office, stripped of their pensions, and banned from running again.
3. Every bill must contain a plain English description at the start of the bill explaining it's purpose. If the "legislative language" is found to differ from the plain language, then the law is declared void.

222 Trump poisoned my cat: Thank you. As a reminder, three-fourths of Republican senators voted to reinstall this piece of shit. He truly represents their (lack of) values. And more importantly, he represents their value."

Yep. We're not voting our way out of this. Both parties are determined to play this charade until the USA is a smoldering crater. Economic and social collapse from within is going to happen and we're not going to stop it. It's really a matter of individual by individual trying to figure out how to survive it. And don't think the political class - most especially the entrenched elected - haven't already made plans and invested into it to secure their futures. Our jobs will be to make sure we raid their retirement assets/incomes after the collapse to make sure there's equity in the inevitable pain. Some tarring and feathering wouldn't hurt either.

282 We have commenters here who live these bill passing processes, and live to pretend electing Republicans will somehow improve government. I always wonder if they are employed by the GOPe specifically to comment at blogs.

The irony is that a bunch of commenters back around 2008-2009-2010-2011 or so actually were accusing ace of being GOPe. Because he -- and pretty much the majority of co-bloggers and commenters, not to mention most right-of-center pundits, even Rush Limbaugh -- was basically trying to explain that we have to continue voting for the GOP, because it's our only chance of actually getting our policies enacted.

I remember ace bitching out commenters for accusing him of being more interested in trying to become popular and go to GOPe parties and such, rather than be a voice for principled conservatism and stand up to the GOPe.

A LOT has changed over the past 10 years or so since then - commenters completely different, co-bloggers completely different - and it's been interesting to read and watch the transition of people as they realize the GOPe has been lying all this time and playing us for suckers.

Absolutely.
If our support hurts the Russians deeply, anything is open to targeting. Power/Infrastructure are but I think the Rooskies could be more creative. Given the big Patriot Missile give-a-way, that factory becomes a significant target that would send a clear message. And it wouldn't have to be anything big...just find a way to shut it down for a week or two. I have to believe there is at least one or two in the Pentagon and State Department who would understand.

320 efectiveness of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) Bivalent Vaccine

Background The purpose of this study was to evaluate whether a bivalent COVID-19 vaccine protects against COVID-19.
Methods Employees of Cleveland Clinic in employment on the day the bivalent COVID-19 vaccine first became available to employees, were included. The cumulative incidence of COVID-19 was examined over the following weeks. Protection provided by vaccination (analyzed as a time-dependent covariate) was evaluated using Cox proportional hazards regression. The analysis was adjusted for the pandemic phase when the last prior COVID-19 episode occurred, and the number of prior vaccine doses received.
Results Among 51011 employees, 20689 (41%) had had a previous docum

321 episode of COVID-19, and 42064 (83%) had received at least two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine. COVID-19 occurred in 2452 (5%) during the study. Risk of COVID-19 increased with time since the most recent prior COVID-19 episode and with the number of vaccine doses previously received. In multivariable analysis, the bivalent vaccinated state was independently associated with lower risk of COVID-19 (HR, .70; 95% C.I., .61-.80), leading to an estimated vaccine effectiveness (VE) of 30% (95% CI, 20-39%). Compared to last exposure to SARS-CoV-2 within 90 days, last exposure 6-9 months previously was associated with twice the risk of COVID-19, and last exposure 9-12 months previously with 3.5 times the risk.

Conclusions The bivalent COVID-19 vaccine given to working-aged adults afforded modest protection overall against COVID-19, while the virus strains dominant in the community were those represented in the vaccine.

Summary Among 51011 working-aged Cleveland Clinic employees, the bivalent COVID-19 vaccine booster was 30% effective in preventing infection, during the time when the virus strains dominant in the community were represented in the vaccine.

322 Linda Graham still pleading for Putin's assassination

The best possible outcome is a negotiated settlement that weakens Putin enough that there is an orderly transfer of power, with some chance of the new president being pro-Western.

The worst possible outcome is a violent removal of Putin from power, which guarantees that someone from the military or the secret police will take over.

There is still a widespread belief among the Russian military and secret police types that if the Russians set off a handful of nukes to end the Ukraine war, that the West will blink and back down.

They may well be right.

That is an understatement. Think of how long the Left has been marching through and taking over every institution in the country (and the world for the WEF). Decades. If we start it at the 1950s, this is a reality they have been working towards for 70 years. Building up their (Discover the) Networks for decades, infiltrating entertainment, education, media, corporate America, etc. for decades.

In 70 years, even someone 10 years old right now will be 80. So anything we're all doing now to try to save what is left of this country will not be realized until we, our children and most grandchildren are dead. What we do now is not for ourselves, but for our grandchildren and great grandchildren.

I have been reading stuff like this for years and it has made me afraid and unsure what to do with my savings. After going broke at age 34 in 2010 after 2 years of unemployment, and then finally getting a job (which I still hold today), I have been living in fear of that happening again. So I have been putting $1000/mo into savings since 2011. But I have been unsure if just having it in a low interest savings account is any good compared to putting it in an IRA or something. I want to be able to have access to the money in an emergency (i.e. economy collapse and unemployment again).

What is safer/better these days? Money in a savings account or money invested in IRA or some other investment account? Is anything even safe anymore from government finding a way to take it, save for 'keeping it under my mattress'?

367 Not a chance the russkis would try to shoot down Z's plane, far too difficult and not much point.

Not a chance Putin is followed by a "pro-western" leader, whatever that might mean. Ukraine war is a result of specific issues that have been roiling for decades, and background realities and history that no plausible Russian leader is going to simply ignore.

Outlines of final settlement have long been clear, just a matter of how long/how much cost Kiev decides to suffer before the deal is done. One complication is the Russian add-ons of Kherson and Zaporozhe, not part of their original territorial objectives. I think it was an error to tack these on, as they are very mixed areas.

They aren't pro-Western now if they ever were after what we are pulling on them now. They are overseeing a shift of their export and business to everywhere else in the world except the West. Even blowing up their pipelines almost just was a shrug your shoulders moment since they had given up on Europe already.

369 The ARC of History!

"At the moment, the Russians are pursuing a mini-Verdun strategy - they have a superior tactical position in Bakhmut, and have simply turned it into a meat grinder, figuring that more Ukrainians are dying than Russians."

Well if some reports are to be believed those dying may include more than just Ukrainians. Poles, Romanians, Brits and Americans are reported to have large contingents of volunteers on the front lines.

371 Outlines of final settlement have long been clear, just a matter of how long/how much cost Kiev decides to suffer before the deal is done. One complication is the Russian add-ons of Kherson and Zaporozhe, not part of their original territorial objectives. I think it was an error to tack these on, as they are very mixed areas.

That's the thing with the Russians after the war started - any land with Russian language speakers will have to be incorporated or separated from U since U and the west can't be trusted not to persecute them. Every gain of land in this war has had U agents go around shooting Russians and suspected Russian sympathizers without trial.

And the West can't be trusted with enforcing any treaty terms, after Merkle admitted she lied about enforcing the last one.

372 Hypocrite: When Joni Ernst -- standing behind McConnell -- first ran for Senate, she said in an ad: "I grew up castrating hogs on an Iowa farm, so when I get to Washington, I'll know how to cut pork," "Washington's full of big spenders," "Let's make 'em squeal."

Looks like she knows her way around the pig trough.

I've seen reports that there is a substantial cemetery in Poland for volunteers lost in Ukraine. The problem is that the hold to the death strategy while you are shelled to death means even good troops go down just about as fast as poor ones.

What is safer/better these days? Money in a savings account or money invested in IRA or some other investment account? Is anything even safe anymore from government finding a way to take it, save for 'keeping it under my mattress'?

I am not an investment advisor and cannot tell you what to do.
Safe from what? Loss of principal or loss of purchasing power due to inflation? If I was under 50, I would look to long term investment in stocks, including an IRA . This has historically paid off, and at this time, I would buy relatively cheap by dollar-cost-averaging purchases each month, or quarter

This just the seed money. In a few years it will have grown into a lovely graft tree.

378 I hope nobody gives a dollar to the GOP for the next couple of years. Paybacks should hurt.

379 We need an actual separate American party.

Any so-called republican who votes for over $40 billion for the globalist money-laundering scam of Ukraine while voting against closing the US-Mexican border with a wall of lead against the blatant invasion that has been going on for years is nothing but a disgusting, RINO, controlled opposition.

We cannot vote our way out of tyranny, when the scumbags counting the votes are so blatantly dishonest in stealing elections, and when the RINOs bend over and accept electoral theft so long as their personal wealth keeps accumulating.

380 I love Mollie but she's way too nice.

McConnell is vicious criminal swine. He's trying to ram through the Democrat budget because he is a Democrat. He needs it to pass so Kev won't have to oppose it. McCarthy is pretending to be mad at McConnell but he's a Democrat cocksucker too.

They both overthrew the People and are our ENEMIES.

Posted by: The Gipper Lives at December 21, 2022 05:24 PM (Ndje9)

381 I like Mollie she is one of the few fierce and serious fighters on our side.

As has been said here, I am still voting for the hard core R but the McConnell crowd is NoNo nher getting my vote because "democrats will be way worse.". I am done with that. 2010 was last time I thought we could vote our way out of this. Now I want the system to collapse under it's own bullshit but want Democrats to own it. No more McConnell scapegoat.

384 I agree with everything you've said except I'm sorry that you don't support Ukraine, because it's the right choice, and wars won't wait on domestic feuds.
