The cabin's owner looks like he has a pipe in hand, too. Considering some of the coarse tobacco back in the 1880s, the stuff the Indians smoked in a lot of cases, he'd have to be pretty tough.

70 If that's sunset over to the left of the painting, then this guy has his place set up nicely, facing south in an east-west canyon or valley. That way the sun doesn't come into your windows too much and warm your place in summer, but it does in the winter. The Anasazi knew that when they picked locations for their cliff dwellings.

144 Damn, this is a nice painting. Russell conveys the pleasures of accomplishment and comfort that comes from one's own efforts and skill. The use of blue to emphasizes the cold and distance. The yellow of the sun and showing through the windows of the cabin for warmth is inviting. The attitudes of the men is shown in their expressions: pride and pleasure. The men are the centerpiece and focus of the scene and have the most detail. The rest is used to suggest the conditions of their lives. It is life affirming and, to my mind, has a feel of Christmas about it.

I'm sure art critics would spit on this but real people would love it. It is effectively evocative of simple pleasures. If I had a good print, I would hang it where I could see it all the time. A reminder to appreciate what I have.

In outdoor activity, perspiration is absorbed into cotton layers that are touching or near the skin. As the air pockets in the fabric fill up with water, it ceases to provide insulation.

If it's snowing or raining, the reverse movement of water occurs, with the same effect.

Funny thing, I live in a near majority black population area. Well of course black folk like steak just as much as anyone so Longhorn's clientele here is also mostly black. So they try to get copies of all the western paintings featuring black people. I think there are about 8 in the world and every single one of them is featured here at my longhorn. I don't like to get steak out because it's one of the few things I can make well myself. But sometimes the family just has to go there so they can get their steaks ruined the way they like.

It was then I realized how deeply original Russell's work is and that it is still a major influence on American West art. Go to Bozeman or Scottsdale if in doubt. That ended my being annoyed at Russell permanently. Now I am annoyed at getting educated about a subject in spite of myself.

221 Funny thing, I live in a near majority black population area.

230 383 Based on Ace's post last night stating he's done with the GOP, either this blog goes defunct or a whole new base of action-minded readers is required. I for one am looking forward to seeing the current crop of Instapanzy keyboard warriors and purpled-pilled GOPer handwringers forced out. Alas, I'm betting the "I'm done with the GOP" is a hollow threat and the smart military COBs with their milquetoast ELCA potluck politics and sensibilities remain king. It's becoming conceivable that Instapanzy, AOS, Althouse etc... are shadow-funded operations to not only keep tabs on conservatives but more importantly offer a cathartic outlet that provides a sports-like fan following for conservatives to blow off steam and reduce the possibility of mass uprising. If you keyboard warrior COBs took just 10% of the time you waste cruising the "conservative" political internet venting and bloviating in your echo chamber clubs and instead walked out to the street with a sign and protested we'd be living in an entirely different America.

The tamale trade in New Mexico is sort of like the illegal drug trade. If you have any sense, you don't buy them in a store. Instead, you let people know you want some tamales and pretty soon you get a phone number to call. At that point you place your order and meet in a parking lot a few days later where you exchange cash for tamales. Yudhishthira's Dice is exactly right, tamales are an essential part of Christmas just as Menudo is an essential part of Saturday morning in New Mexico. I luvs me some tamales.

Both RDR and RDRII were great games and now there'll be a III. However, creating a videogame is an enormous project, especially with the degree of detail in RDR, so I doubt it'll be available next Christmas or even the following Christmas but when it gets here it'll be like the third coming. Meanwhile, 5th generation updates to classic games like Witcher III and Skyrim are coming out so life is good.

This kind of thing is always interesting to me. It's a case of knowing about the use of something (tire plugs) and knowing *why* they are in use.

I work to do this for my day job. To know not just what I have to design/engineer, but *why* I am designing/engineering it. What is the function. Because sometimes there is a better way to design/engineer for that specific function.

Not a bold move at all. But smart and expected. They have been getting away with this shit for how many elections now? Probably going back to 2008, at least. But definitely since 2018 and every election in every state since then.

This is what happens when there are zero consequences for election fraud and people just saying we need to "move on" and not "relitigate" past elections (nevermind that we cannot relitigate something that was not litigated in the first place, since all cases were thrown out without being heard).

Authorities appealed for people to avoid the area in Strasbourg-Saint Denis in the 10th district of Paris.

Are any of the school officials that allowed that to happen getting fired?

Also the other kid was mentally disabled but in the same school every year? This sounds really odd.

372 Meanwhile, not so happy here in Happy Valley . . .

Lawsuit alleges one former Grand Junction nurse sexually assaulted potentially ‘thousands’ of victims
. . . .
The allegations accuse former nurse Christopher Peter Lambros of routinely going into intensive care unit rooms, administering drugs to deepen female patients’ sedation and then sexually assaulting them. Lambros has been a registered nurse since 2012 and was employed by St. Mary’s Hospital from roughly 2012 to 2022, according to the class-action complaint filed in state court on Tuesday.
Lambros also took tens of thousands of photos and thousands of hours of videos of the patients and of himself assaulting them, the complaint alleges.

The ones with cargo shorts on go in the field. The ones on these websites are 'sperg nerds recruited from Big Tech. They're wearing women's clothes and have a Pfizer tattoo. And monkeypox, of course. The "MSM" community.

Little Miss Muffet sat on a tuffet,
Eating her curds and whey.
Along came a Pfizer, and she, none the wiser,
Took a shot and died right away.

Ha Comment more... ha. I've been here since 2006 under a variety of different names. I've been banned and praised. No one knows me and I know no one. You see, I'm different than the vast majority of you. I'm real. I don't think interacting via an online blog is social interaction. It's fake. People who think they have friends and compatriots online are deluded and live in a fake world. GOPer are failures because they won't interact with the world - they hire proxies and contrive fake worlds to live in because they're at heart frightened people. The only reason a person should interact online is to drive action and change. Civil discourse is impossible. Civil discourse can only happen in reality where the threat of a punch to the face exists. Online discourse can only be used for shaming to drive change. Conservatives are a very frightened people. Frighten people are susceptible to shame. I troll to drive change.
