Former "Republican" Speaker of the House John Boehner Cries In Tribute of Nancy Pelosi

It's a Uniparty Tear Bukake.

Note that Nancy Pelosi is not, despite her appearance, dead.

John Boehner is crying just at the... unveiling of her portrait.

And he couldn't wait to brag that both of his daughters are Democrats. He wanted Nancy to know that he taught his girls well.

Former House Speaker John Boehner paid a tearful tribute to Nancy Pelosi on Wednesday at the unveiling of her official portrait in the U.S. Capitol.
[...]
"You've been incredibly effective as the leader of your caucus. The younger generation today has a saying: 'Game recognizes game.' The fact of the matter is no other speaker of the House in the modern era -- Republican or Democrat -- has wielded the gavel with such authority or with such consistent results," Boehner said, calling Pelosi "one tough cookie."

"My girls told me, 'Tell the speaker how much we admire her,'" Boehner said, choking back tears as he spoke.

Ben Shapiro
@benshapiro

Boehner crying in tribute to Pelosi while talking about how his daughters are Democrats is a pretty good summation of Republican leadership over the past couple of decades

In college, in Roman History, my professor raised his voice sternly at the bubble-headed liberal girl in pajama-like sweatpants who kept trying to equate the Roman political parties, the Optimates (Opt-ee-mah-tays) and the Populares (Poh-pyu-lahr-ays), to the Republicans and the Democrats.

"These are both parties of the landowning wealthy elites," he said. "They are all patricians who have been noble and rich for a dozen generations. Both parties are intermarried and they share the exact same economic interests and goals. They only disagree about which wealthy members of which wealthy families should control which high government offices and gain the power to extract wealth from the citizenry through tax-farming. Your insistence on calling the Optimates the 'The Republicans' and the Populares 'The Democrats' is facile and embarrassing."

She was embarrassed. I took a note, "Don't say they're the Republicans and Democrats, he hates that."

Of course... that cute little bottle-blonde was exactly right about claiming the Optimates are the Republicans and the Populares the Democrats, and Professor Imperious was just a Dum-Dum from Bumpkinsville. The American political parties are just two indistinguishable hordes of rapacious, swinish intermarried wealthy elites, quibbling over whose inbred retarded nephews will fill the Senate and the tax offices.

How much longer are we expected to put up with this?

How much longer are we expected to pretend?

Nancy Pelosi shows that lovely spirit that makes John Boehner cry in another "documentary" produced by her worthless wallflower daughter.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi asked her daughter Alexandra if she is a 'b***h' after a sarcastic exchange with then-Vice President Mike Pence on a phone call.

The candid moment was filmed in the forthcoming documentary 'Pelosi in the House,' where the 82-year-old speaker is portrayed glowingly by her filmmaker daughter Alexandra.

During an early 2020 congressional recess, Pelosi listened from home to a phone call where Pence spoke during a coronavirus teleconference. As she listened in on the call the speaker did laundry and tidied her bedroom. Her husband Paul made food in the kitchen.

The couple are both seen in their pajamas in a bedroom at their home as the House Speaker multitasks on the phone.

At one point, Alexandra, 52, asked her mother, 'What is the point of this call?'

'They're checking a box,' Pelosi responded as she continued on with her chores.

At one point Pelosi unmuted herself and to offer her own sarcastic input. 'This has been a useful exchange,' she said, before grilling the vice president on how his administration was tracking the spread of Covid-19. She then signed off with a cheerful 'Happy Easter!'

She put herself back on mute before asking her daughter, 'Am I a b***h?'

Why yes.

She also got bitchy when asked if she'd actually bother completing her term.

Some twitter commenter said she was just holding the seat warm for a bit until her worthless wallflower daughter -- who said she supported Rand Paul's neighbor's vicious assault on him -- could fill the seat. That sounds right.

But don't you dare make jokes about Paul Pelosi.

He's a Democrat. He's of the Roman patrician family you owe respect to, not the Roman patrician family that the council of Caesars demands you publicly mock.

11 Most senior politicians at the federal level enjoy more money out of office than in. Even Paul Ryan, who was a chump with less staying power than an average intern, has relatively great press and lobbying power.

The Republicans know they're the junior party, and the Senate tends to corrupt anyone placed in it. But when institutions are beyond saving, we don't remedy that with the Constitution. We look to the Declaration.

18 Not germane to the thread, but fuck it:

Notice in video clips showing the current assault on the border at El Paso how the invaders cross the Rio Grande, then mass below the border fence? (I used to live in EP; that fence is imposing.)

Why can't someone in the Republican leadership (I won't even humour the notion that any Democrat leader would) follow the Viktor Orban plane and expel illegals inside the USA to that strip of land between the fence and Mexico? It's U.S. soil, so it would not be deportation and trigger hearings in court. Is the U.S. code that different from Hungary's, or is it solely a matter of will?

45 Pelosi sacrificed the Dem majority in 2010 in order to get ObamaCare through. That cost the Democrats dearly.

Sort of. Obama continued in office for another six years, and a mere eight years after sacrificing the Democrat controlled Legislature, she was back with the gavel in hand and Dem majorities in both Houses. Two years later the Dems got a paper-signing puppet into the White House.

This great sacrifice of the Democrat party for the sake of ObamaCare had them back in power - and more! in just a couple cycles, and ObamaCare is still in place.

The GOP are too fearful of losing the next election, and have never learned how to play a longer game.

Yup. It's called a Uniparty and it is what will cause the death of the country. Whether in ancient times like Rome or in modern times like Venezuela, when you have an essentially undifferentiated Uniparty that are fully aligned on corruption, theft and other rampant criminality with no actual opposition, *anyone* with gumption - whatever his ideas - can gain traction and overthrow the whole repugnant mess and take it for himself. This is what delivered Hugo Chavez - a nobody with a silver tongue and a big following - into power in Caracas.

The same will happen here if this continues. There absolutely *must* be an actual opposition party that does actual work to curtail the excesses of the ruling party. When the opposition party joins in and forms a permanent Uniparty, death is certain. This is why I want McCarthy out of leadership, even if it means the loss of the Speakership or the death of the GOP. We are running out of time for real opposition.

70 First, stupid professor, they were NOT all patricians. Words have an exact meaning, especially in cases where they were metaphors.

Patricians were a different class than Plebeans, but by the time of the boni the political advantage was whittled down to almost nothing. There were some offices - religious ones reserved for Patricians, others not. On the other hand, there were important jobs barred to them - like the Plebeian Tribunes. There was also law that major offices - consul could not both be Patricians. One must be a pleb.

There was a long hundred to 150 year struggle by the plebs to get this situation. Regardless, by this time centuries after that the Pleb/Patriciate division was not a political issue. Caesar was Patrician, Pompey and Crassus were not. All three were populares.

Yeah, the ruling actors and decision-makers are generally from the same class of people across history, but more remarkably most of the topics of debate are the same.

Societal madness/meltdown as policy doesn't show up that often, but welfare, price controls, tariffs, relations between business and state, tax policies and so on tend to have the same patterns.

This presumes a large functional difference between relatively new nobility and old nobility. While this is sometimes asserted or pretended to, particularly by older bloodlines, in practice they're usually very similar. And usually in very short order the new nobility will try to set up new class barriers.

They are precisely like the Democrats. They insult and write off their base, they steal everything that isn't nailed down and much of what is, they advance an agenda that is counter to American interests (or, at best, do nothing to prevent such an advance), engage in every conceivable perversion and spit in your eye while claiming to be on your side.

The only difference between the two is that the Republicans, as the nominal opposition, doesn't advance new things. They pretend the new things aren't happening and then defend them fiercely when the Democrats advance the next new thing. As a result, they run about 1/2 speed. That's the only difference.

171 This presumes a large functional difference between relatively new nobility and old nobility. While this is sometimes asserted or pretended to, particularly by older bloodlines, in practice they're usually very similar. And usually in very short order the new nobility will try to set up new class barriers.

Nobility in Rome came when your family reached a high office, praetor or consul. If you did that, you were a 'new man' but part of the nobiles. Being a new man had a slight stigma in to snobbish types, but usually meant you had real talent. Cicero, for instance was a new man. He orbited the main boni because he was a new man but never really accepted by them.

Voters in Rome tended to be skeptical of new men in general which is why it was so uncommon. There were the odd demagogue who played to the crowd more than standard but as often as not they were from the creme of the Families. Caesar and Catiline were from very ancient familes. Cato and Brutus were old Pleb families, nearly as well thought of. The Claudians were very old, but had some degree of crackpottery.

It is more a problem of enforcement than a specific rule. The obvious workaround is to diffuse wealth through followers and allies and create a power base, which is what wealthy people do already.

Although the problem isn't really that the government is corrupt or that the government is corrupted by the wealthy, it is that the government and certain wealthy individuals are a threat to society/the country.

186 Let's recap, shall we?

In the last ~30 years, the GOP in the house has been led by:

An ineffectual liberal from California (McCarthy).

An ineffectual unibrow gnome squish from Wisconsin by way of 1313 Mockingbird Lane (Ryan).

A ineffectual blubbering drunk (Boehner).

An ineffectual turd and convicted pedophile (Hastert).

And Newt Gingrich, who was both effective and conservative, and so was made into a pariah and scapegoat by the GOPe because they were so cowed by Clinton and Dick Morris.

Remind me again why I should GAF that the red wave farted out? And why I should ever cast a vote for a Republican running for a Fed office again?

Jesse Kelly is right, I'd give my middle nut for just one leader on our side who is as ruthless and effective as Nancy Pelosi.

GOP delenda est.

No. They may have thought they were, but the reason why Roman historians stuck "Boni" on them was partly a sneer, "The BEST People" when clearly they weren't.

In the post Carthage era, a few families who were very rich and had lots of kids started to corner the market on the major political jobs - Marcelli, Metelli and their allies started being in charge, while being inept at the empire building / managing jobs in the provinces. Rome had existed by co-opting the talented into the group fairly smoothly. The Boni opposed giving Gaius Marius the power to end a war in Africa, opposed his several year war vs Germans who had destroyed several Armies partly due to Boni lack of cooperation...and they started the game of murdering political opposition using mob violence.

Not at all. Familes like the Claudians, Gracchi, and Caesars had 10 times their social status.

It was a self selected group of fairly powerful families and men, but not uniformly rich versus "poor" or relatively poor.

Usually the original meaning of "best" is some form of meritocracy. Like 'aristocracy' translates into rule by the best and how the Chinese imperial meritocracy would often not be so meritocratic in truth.

252 Trump’s digital trading cards have sold out, all 45,000 of them at $99 each. That means he raised $4.45 million in just 12 hours.
---
So all this talk about how Trump has lost the plot has aged poorly?

---

You know how the books that politicians write are mostly purchased in bulk established donors and associated PACs, thereby raising money and creating the illusion of high demand?

I smell a similar scam with these "sold out" NFTs. The bulk probably went to insiders or organizations who agreed to buy them ahead of time. No way Trump would release these things if there was any risk that they *wouldn't* sell out.

Usually there was respect for family merit, under the assumption the family would respect Roman traditions, with a way in for new blood. Rome used adoption that way - if a respected fam didn't have a good heir they would adopt one from someone who had extra ones and they would carry on that family. And new families could 'ennoble' themselves.

One sign of trouble in the 'boni' era was that the co-opting of Italians from other cities into Roman nobility ended and after some disasters were Italian men died with Romans led by inept generals Italy asked for citizenship the Boni refused point blank. A war = The Social War (Socii = Allies) erupted that even though Rome won Rome decided to grant citizenship to all Italians. The war also led to a lot of talented non-Boni who had saved the country but were still held down by Boni who had not done much in the war.

Mark Felton had a yootoob vid up in the last few days talking about how the Russkies are sending up AN-2 biplanes loaded with explosives as pseudo-smart drones (the pilot sets the course and then bails out).

The opposition HAS to shoot at them... with $1M+ missiles, while an AN-2 costs less than $100k, which was paid for decades ago. If they don't shoot, then a couple of tons of explosives will randomly impact in their area.

Breaks my heart because I rather like the AN-2.

As leaky as our system is, the Russians and Chinese probably already have blueprints. That is not the same as being able to manufacture, train, and field them though. Given how short a time that they are in flight, it is also makes them more difficult to figure out countermeasures and implement them in real time.

I am more worried about the Ukies doing something stupid with them like modifying them for greater range to hit well inside the Russian border. That is coming if I don't miss my guess with Russian attacks on infrastructure--Ukraine will probably return serve and the war escalates.

We should be actively trying to shut it down by ceasefire and then treaty instead of throwing more logs on the fire.

I was wondering if they were going to use them as artillery spotters. The Swordfish Biplane in WWII was famed for being missed by automatic AA because it flew too slow.

And after the first month or two the Russian plan has been to corner a Ukrainian unit in a village and blast it until it is unable to fight and sweep it out of the rubble with minimal losses. The same militia unit can be used in town after town. And if the U reinforces they just reset to bombarding again.

333 Unless the U's can modify them to fire on ground targets, likely what they will be doing is sending a 10 million missile to destroy a 50 K drone, if it can even do that. Or sit there and watch the drones hit the one place in the country they are guarding.

The Ukes are shooting down most of the drones (70-90%) with Gepard and other old AA fire (and more of that is being sent). It's the last few ones that get through that cause enormous damage by destroying the electrical infrastructure. Those are the ones they'll use the Patriots for, not the 90%, and I doubt they'll use them until it's absolutely necessary.

The history of bombing civilian targets alone with no significant invasion generally has a poor track record of forcing compliance. Usually results in retaliation in kind which ratchets up the violence.

yes. free market requires rules, but rules a destined to be distorted to create monopolies.

The commies think free market doesn't work, so just give in to massive gov. to control everything. The libertarians think no rules at all. Both roads lead to the same destination.

Democratic daughters? Ha! Remember during 2015 when it was learned his 'health policy director' was sister to the StemExpress (alleged buyer of PPH fetal organs) founder? One p.o.'ed man, he was. He managed to call for a PPH investigation but wouldn't back its defunding.

And Nan's daughter with her BS video that she's been working on the years, is she part of Nan's or someone else's Congressional staff? How was she rountinely permitted in the Congressional offices & allowed to accompany mom & Chuckie S to the army installation for security purposes during the afternoon of 1/6? Further, why did her video appear to indicate Nan was safety away from the mob & under tight security when someone may have given the order to shoot & Ashli B was struck?

He was of that era. Once I saw Connery as 007 I could not accept any other. Finney is a better actor with greater range. Once I saw Finney as Tom Jones I could not accept any other, as well. Michael Caine is another Brit actor of that time who I enjoy seeing and defines the role.

That is true. The loads are made by the Swiss, who won't sell them to Ukraine, because they're contemptible "neutrals".

Most of the damage to the electrical system is coming from missiles which the Us aren't stopping despite claims to the contrary.

Then talking about $20k drones is a red herring.

353 314 Oh, there's no shortage of people who are personally really into the Trump brand. That is not in question. The concern that some people have is that, in 2016, that famous brand-building walked behind his America-first vision--with great success for all--but in recent years the vision is walking behind the brand.

In 2015, people were laughing at Trump running or claiming he was a stalking horse for Hillary.

We are in the invisible primary stage right now where you line up a campaign team, check your boxes on legal documents to run in each state, and raising funds. You don't begin with detailed policy statements that your rivals will try to pick apart--those are saved for the active primary season and debates.

The problem with the Internet is that everyone wants everything in a hurry and we are just going to have to wait unless you want the Revolution to start today.
