Something else I wanted to say yesterday, and didn't. Guys, those of you who are single, or have bitter stories of heartbreak, there ARE good, kind, decent women out there.
I decided to do a little experiment today, and I'm hardly Fabio, but I was getting all kinds of looks today from women I found at least mildly attractive. It doesn't take much. A big part of it it is not thinking they won't be interested. The other thing, self-explanatory, confident eye contact. Now, I'm going to hold off until I get to my next destination, but I'm going to start dating again. Soon. No narcissists (you really have to watch out for the covert type) though. Cats are built to survive falls, but another thing is a small animal like a cat has a lower terminal velocity in air than a human and falls slower. Note how the spread out wide to catch more air instinctively.
I have had a couple of tiny kittens fall from my upper balcony in my house and take no harm aside from scaring me to death. The first was a teeny guy who escaped his safe room (i was pretty ill that day) and trotted right to the overlook, tried to circle around a railing pole and slipped the back feet then fell. I was right there and saw him fall. He was a bit shook up but not harmed, poor fellow. Put up plastic sheeting I had to avoid that problem. Cat used to sometimes balance on the railing there calling me to watch his whole life. Years later I had some more kittens and put up cardboard ones. Soon after that one climbed the cardboard and fell down. He was older (6 mos) and slowed his fall on the cardboard and also wasn't hurt, so I went back to the clear sheeting. Posted by: polynikes at December 07, 2022 07:39 PM (MrIOU) I've had cats wrench a knee - once while I had had her staying with a catsitter friend she jumped from a window to the bed and I think caught a claw and twisted the "knee" which. My friend was so sad but I didn't blame her for not noticing, and it might have been just that second. Anyhow, took her to vet next day and the vet searched for injuries and there was a pop when he stretched it and all was fine. I usually gently push on the joints bones to see if there is sharp pain (they will snap if there is, or hiss) and move the limb a little. If that passes, I'll see if the limp goes away in a day or so. Posted by: Oldcat at December 07, 2022 08:02 PM (eoQWY) Posted by: sven at December 07, 2022 08:03 PM (Lzpvj) 91

Perfessor skwerl- Kitters are composed of 90% floof, 5% turds and 5% ick-slime. When you brush in a pulling motion, you are actually pulling the long hairs out from inside the kitter-floof cavity. It is evidenced that this xavity is filled with floof by the occassional expelling of floof ick-slime turds from the mouth of a kitter. Find a brush that removes loose floof without pulling the long dtrands from inside the floof-cavity.

@65 Cats are built to survive falls, but another thing is a small animal like a cat has a lower terminal velocity in air than a human and falls slower. Note how the spread out wide to catch more air instinctively.
---- It's a combination of the small size, and the spreading that you noted. The latter causes loose skin that runs along the body between the legs to catch air and create drag, like a much less effective version of what a flying squirrel does. Ironically, I've read that falling shorter distances can be more dangerous for a cat if the animal doesn't have enough time to spread the legs out and slow down before hitting the ground. At lunch the rooster again mates with all 150 hens. The next day, it's mating with the ducks and the geese too. Later that day, the Farmer spies the rooster lying on the ground looking mostly dead and vultures are circling overhead. re 169: from wikipedia:
Laurel and Hardy is a 1966-1967 American animated television series and an updated version of Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy's comedic acts by the animation studio Hanna-Barbera and Larry Harmon Productions. Harmon had been developing the series since 1961, while Stan Laurel was still alive, although Laurel had very little involvement. A total of 156 shorts were made, each having its own opening and closing wrap-arounds, to make them easy to air in syndication. As Oliver Hardy and Stan Laurel had died in 1957 and 1965 respectively, Jim MacGeorge provided the voice of Ollie, while Harmon voiced Stan. They would later reprise their roles in an episode of The New Scooby-Doo Movies. The one-season show was not well received. Critic Leonard Maltin said, "To criticize these cartoons is pointless. Any imitation, even a good one, simply cannot be Laurel and Hardy... No one can duplicate Laurel and Hardy's greatness because they were unique." Earlier today, two of our cats, the females Minnie and Grey, were lying on a comforter. I go away and come back a few minutes later and what do I find? As far as geese....
Look, people, they're a big bunch of greasy meat and feathers, with a very dull beak. Yes, it will hurt a bit if they bite you. BITE THEM BACK! It's a friggin' goose! It's not even a predator! If you can't fight a goose and make them leave you alone, I'm not sure you deserve to be a member of the apex predator species. Just go live in a cave and eat berries. If they decide to jaywalk*, run one over (slowly). Trust me, they won't jaywalk there anymore. If they give you a big hiss because you're too close to their mate? Give 'em a scream and a stomp of the foot while advancing on them. They will treat you like the bipedal omnivore you are. They want to crap on your driveway? Throw a rock and hit one or two. If that doesn't work, grab a stick and rush them. They aren't Crips and Bloods, people. And, if all else fails, get a slingshot and start practicing on them. They will get the hint and crap on the neighbor's lawn. Posted by: GWB at December 07, 2022 09:16 PM (VM0fq) 309

It's a combination of the small size, and the spreading that you noted.
