Wednesday Morning Rant [Joe Mannix]

mannixape2.jpg

Balkanize Harder

Fellow Moron "Max Power" brought up a new scheme being argued in Oxfordshire to subdivide the city into "travel zones" measured in time to reduce (or eliminate) any private automobile travel. Oh, you can still have a car and use it all you want - but only in your home zone. If you want to drive out of your home zone, you have to get government permission to cross the threshold. Those opportunities will, of course, be rationed. This was covered by Watt's Up With That and the plan is based on other research.

And what is the justification for such an oppressive, balkanizing notion? I'd give you one guess, but you don't need it. It is, of course, "climate." There's no heavy-handed totalitarian notion that cannot be justified by claiming that it is loving and gentle to our earth-mother. If you're opposed you are, of course, a monster. But that also doesn't matter because citizens subjects do not need to be involved in the process. You'll do what you're told.

This lunatic plan proposes dividing the city into zones 15 minutes wide. You won't cross those zones in your private car without special permission. You can take a bus or ride your bike, but you can't drive. There will be checkpoints at the "15 minute" boundaries and you'll need a pass from the local government to be allowed to cross those boundaries. They will issue you no more than 100 of those passes per year, and very likely less.

If this sounds insane, don't worry - it makes even less sense than that. From the original article at the Oxford Mail, you will be able to bypass those checkpoints - but only if you drive more:

People can drive freely around their own neighbourhood and can apply for a permit to drive through the filters, and into other neighbourhoods, for up to 100 days per year. This equates to an average of two days per week.
The alternative is to drive out on to the ring road and then back in to the destination.
This is insane, of course, and so means that it won't happen. Those "filters" will surely be set up at the entrances to the ring road, too. Not to mention the traffic nightmare that this scheme will surely create. For the climate.

As bonkers as this all is, Oxfordshire is in good company. This isn't their idea, of course. Something this stupid and insane could only come from academics, and that is the case here. Surprising no one, the underlying academic work comes from The Sorbonne because of course it does. It is a typical academic work - insane, stupid and borderline incomprehensible. From the paper's abstract:

The socio-economic impacts on cities during the COVID-19 pandemic have been brutal, leading to increasing inequalities and record numbers of unemployment around the world. While cities endure lockdowns in order to ensure decent levels of health, the challenges linked to the unfolding of the pandemic have led to the need for a radical re-think of the city ... The concept, offering a novel perspective of “chrono-urbanism”, adds to existing thematic of Smart Cities and the rhetoric of building more humane urban fabrics, ... building safer, more resilient, sustainable and inclusive cities ...

As an aside, they even call out one of the greatest vandals of modern architecture and urban design, a man who's appalling vision of men as automata has already done incalculable damage to urban landscapes the world over: le Corbusier:

This form of urban approach could be traced back to the celebrated modernist architect le Corbusier, who laid the blueprint for urban sprawl in his bid to escape the unsustainable urban environment. He supported that cities were not efficiently planned for them to be considered “sustainable”, and the only alternative was to demolish and re-plan and rebuild with sustainable dimensions being infused.

"Destroy the cities and remake them as regimented and tightly-controlled complexes but do it
right this time," said as a positive and without irony. Blech.

It goes on and on. "Chrono-urbanism" my achin' ass. Let's call this what it is: totalitarianism. That's the only plan any of these people ever have. Whatever the problem - real or imagined - the solution is more centralized power and control. For them, of course. As for you? You must have no power or control at all. For a vision of the future, look to Red China with its arbitrary lockdowns, sealed-off city sectors, social credit, rationing and mass transit that can be turned off at a moment's notice.

Sit in your pod. Remain in your "15 minute zone." Eat your bugs. Obey your master.

21 "There's no heavy-handed totalitarian notion that cannot be justified by claiming that it is loving and gentle to our earth-mother."

Which is why I regularly whine about this being The Big One. Of all the impoverishing, freedom-destroying, fake-science-based crap, "climate" nonsense is the most dangerous. Because it creates a lever on *all* human activity in a modern economy.

And if one does not directly attack and demolish the basic false premise - that an outlandish hypothesis about a trace gas changing "climate" is nowhere near a defensible basis for any public policy, much less the facto control of all human activity - then one is at best guaranteeing enormous damage prior to victory, and more likely guaranteeing no victory at all.

"Oh, look, you can't produce enough lithium batteries to meet Goal X Y or Z". "Oh, look, it's too expensive to do X or Y". "Oh, look, the technology doesn't exist to do X or Y". (cont'd)

38 More on the "own nothing, be happy" (with drugs and bugs) origins. Amazing Polly ties Elon, KanYE, Epstein and WEF together ... A 1950's book (written by a Nazi rocket scientist) said the future leader of Mars would be Elon. "Elon" basically meant "president", the book was not referring to a name, just a title.

Then there is Kanye's combination of the swastika and Star of David (which gets one banned in many platforms) ... but is much like the WEF symbol. Polly puts together a lot of connections which are real ... the new world order thang seems to be on course.

skip to 22:30 for the Elon part, but it is all pretty interesting/bizarre. bitchute link.

52 I have this theory, and I'm sure someone has discussed it at book length. (If you know of a book, please share.)

The expansion of freedoms in human history have come at three areas: New land, new weapons, and new transportation.

Each of those reduced the power of the existing governments; to get away or fight on equal footing. We then see a reduction of freedom as governments bring these under their control.

The internet was the last new lands; we've nothing better since guns; and cars were the last new transportation-- That's why we're spiraling deeper into totalitarianism.

62 I firmly believe the push to EV's, to mandate their use is in part a plan to limit the movements of people here in what was the US. Everyone knows there's no way the electrical grid and associated infrastructure can, or will support the number of EV's that potentially would hit the roads in or around 2030.

This is by design. If ICE is outlawed, or use curtailed under some new regulation(s) then EV's might be the only solution for the public to move about... if no public transportation is available.

So... move to the urban centers where public transportation is available, to some degree which is what has been mentioned by the WEF when they're not discussing "depopulation." Thus control of your movements is assured.

Or... buy an EV and take your chances with having the ability and wherewithal to actually charge it. Because a mobile society is difficult to subjugate.

A part of that is having somewhere to throw your undesirables away. The colonies were typically populated with bad elements. Australia was a penal colony and the early colonists here were religious and political subversives and a lot of criminals fled, too. In the new land, the undesirables can sort themselves out. 66 Of course, schemes like this one are superior to the old models. Instead of herding people off into camps, they build walls around the existing neighborhoods and convert those into the camps - and the prisoners still have to pay for them!

68 And of course, these 15 minute zones have hard boundaries. So, if you're at the edge of one, but need to drive to get a large parcel home, you could use a pass to drive 5 minutes round-trip to the store in the next zone or drive 30 minutes round-trip to the store in your zone that's on the other side of the zone. Sure, this helps Gaia!

On the plus side, this opens up all sorts of opportunities for old-fashioned mob power, corruption and graft. Slip a 20 Euro to the gatekeeper to overlook a few re-used permits. Certain checkpoints are unmanned at random points and oops! a few unchecked cars are let through.

Sure, they will try to offset these via technology, but the individuals who monitor the cameras also have a price. So, my fellow morons, don't fight the future! Find out how to profit from it!

Everyone knows there's no way the electrical grid and associated infrastructure can, or will support the number of EV's that potentially would hit the roads in or around 2030.

112 This is an interesting and pretty predictable development, I think. In ceding any vestige of privacy while providing the most perfect tool of control that is likely ever to come about, we've become slaves to our cellular devices and thus slaves - or at least under the control of - of people who enjoy control, manipulation, data/information collection and aggregation who are in turn the minions of people who are truly awful humans. This doesn't make us stupid or inept, and I won't suggest that "we did it to ourselves and should just suck it up" is in any way the right answer. Our cellular devices are like Oz's Flying Monkeys -inherently neither good nor bad, but act in the manner prescribed by their masters. However, we will be at fault if we continue to comply, every bit as guilty as the Brown Shirts, Black Shirts, and Commissars of the last century for the last great round of human catastrophe. Which is where this is headed, without a doubt. Not cheering for it, not wishing for it, but as clear as day, catastrophe follows in the wake of these incompetent, malicious zealot True Believers. That's not the target of this kind of thing. The existing cities are the targets for these plans. They will be converted. For the non-urban population, the plans are different. The plan there (pretty cleared laid out in the UN's 'Agenda 21' proposals from back in the 90s) is to restrict rural development, withhold infrastructure funding and services, encourage concentration of property ownership by the state or big corps, etc. The scheme is to make rural life increasingly unlivable to increase urban concentration, where the urban plans then apply.

Citizens who become activist will be targeted for destruction.

Perhaps.

I'm Christ-pilled.

I think the world is fallen. It has always been dying since the fall. As the death of it approaches, the thrashing and wailing will intensify.

But it's death and subsequent tribulations are the birth pains of the coming age, when Christ returns and brings us to our true home.

Therefor, there was and never will be anything we can do about this world, because all men are debased and awash in sin, myself included (and really to a worse extent than most), and expecting a miserable, desperate, depraved world of demonically influenced men to create a utopian existence is absolutely foolish and the only hope we have for any semblance of justice and perfection lies with the return of our Savior and the renewal of our spirit and our minds.

This world-view colors all my opinions of the future.

Potentially. They way Oxford is planning to do it, the boundaries are the major cross-streets that cut across the city. Your neighbor next door probably won't end up in a different zone, but your neighbor across the way might. I assume Oxford's local geography enables that. Said earlier, but the mobile phone has radically altered things and society is being reordered around it. Some good - most bad. We are still in the very early stages. How it plays out, I don't know. Not sure if there is any comparable invention in history. I don't think the Car or TV altered things to such an extent. Someone can probably think of something. The phone seemingly gives unlimited freedom, but it gives an easy means for almost total control. Good luck attending a sporting event or concert without a phone.

Even back in the 80s and 90s you would be shocked to see the lowest of the low with bumper sticker containing a curse word on their car or a t-shirt with bad language on it in public. Now it's commonplace among normal people. We've badly lost our way.

But I did things that I resented as a kid, like supervision, tiring schedule, and NOT letting them visit or invite the kids known for negative behaviors and poor parental supervision. I wanted to go to the big HS parties where drinking was common, but the consequences were not worth it, and, in my case, there was always an adult relative prepared to tag along.

290 I'd argue that the loss of shame has been a, if not the, major component to the slow fall of western civilization.

Shame also has to be reciprocal. We've replaced shame with cancellation. Long ago, shame could lead to cancellation, but only in your little local. You could either atone and be let back in or have to move on, but at least you had another shot.

Book of Job--Satan had to have permission from God to do what he did to Job. God may not directly do it, but he allows it (and often we are more than happy to put ourselves in those situations)

294 I'd argue that the loss of shame has been a, if not the, major component to the slow fall of western civilization. A functional society needs shame. Citizens need to be kept in line with how others might think of each other based on a common moral understanding.

Even back in the 80s and 90s you would be shocked to see the lowest of the low with bumper sticker containing a curse word on their car or a t-shirt with bad language on it in public. Now it's commonplace among normal people. We've badly lost our way.
Posted by: Press Juan For English at December 07, 2022 12:05 PM (6WtXA)

100% agree. The trouble is, victimhood mentality has turned shame into virtue. "Shout your abortion!" is a point of pride instead of a warning. Being on welfare is curing inequity. Hell, recent history shows that people are happy to be paid to stay at home than find fulfillment in working for a living. Depressing.

It's all pretend. It has nothing to do with saving the planet or the environment. It's a constant shifting to keep you off balance and maintain control.

Look at the absurd bioplastics industry. The worst of both worlds, requiring all of the fertilizer, land use, water, fuel, etc. for crop production, AND chemical production of plastic. And it's not recyclable in normal facilities. And a single container will ruin an entire load of normal plastics. And it doesn't biodegrade any better or faster. It's nothing but waste and confusion, and it's on purpose to make people never know what to do.

304 The "adult at the party" ploy was popular when I grew up, and it helped, as long as it was not the adult hosting the bash. I recall my cousin Debbie getting all dressed up for a party across town, only to discover that Uncle Gordon was a few minutes behind her. He was also known to attend concerts until she was an adult, or have her much older brother show up in loco parentis.

I will give you my best possible advice man. Get a full-panel blood test done. A lot of gloom can be chemically constructed. If you are uninsured that might cost $800 but the risk-reward for discovering problems is high.

Yes move to a red state and everything else, but take care of the things that otherwise won't change.

These people are fucking nuts if they think I am going to hike over to that Wally for groceries every day, especially when it's either 110 in the shade or -30 in a blizzard. I'm too old, my sciatica is currently dealing me fits, and my back won't stand carrying even a single day's worth of food and other essentials that far. The Gaia worshippers need to get lives.

I know it's hard to be your best you without already being in a good relationship. So I recognize it's a bit of chicken and egg conundrum. But such it has ever been.

I might only add to try working on your personal fitness as a good interim strategy. Find something you like doing that also pays fitness dividends. I'm a big fan of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu which is truly not age limited and a great way to stay in shape, and incredibly addictive in a good way.

Yes, all easier said than done but hopefully you'll make progress.
