The Morning Report — 12/5/22

hebidebsov.jpg

Good morning, kids. Start of a new week and while the bombshell revelations late Friday about Twitter colluding with the FBI to suppress and discredit the Hunter Biden laptop story for an an entire year in the run up to the 2020 elections are to many of us, just another entry in the No-Shit-Sherlock files, the question is what's to be done about it? Yes that is a rhetorical question since it would ultimately lead one to the conclusion that only the most radical solution imaginable is the only one that would solve this problem.

Because this problem is not merely the FBI. The FBI is the DOJ is the EPA is the IRS is the DHS is the HHS and on and on and on. We expect this kind of crap in totalitarian dictatorships. The big difference is, unlike in the aforementioned, here in the good ol' US of A, a sizable percentage of the citizenry is actually on the side of the regime. That makes the radical solution to solve the problem that much more radical by orders of magnitude.

As I stated last week, whatever you think about Elon Musk's motivations, this move has now put him squarely in the crosshairs of the regime, as the estimable Robert Spencer notes:

After years of denial and deplatforming of those who dared question the collusion of Big Tech with Leftist deep state officials to influence the 2020 presidential election and make sure that Donald Trump was not reelected, the facts have been revealed. Elon Musk on Friday night revealed through Matt Taibbi (who though he is a Leftist seems actually to be a genuine journalist), how Twitter spiked the story of Hunter Biden’s laptop and prevent the sordid details of his influence-peddling for The Big Guy to get out to the public, and possibly tip the election in Trump’s favor. Since the revelation, the establishment media and leading Democrats have been in furious damage control mode, insisting that the revelations don’t reveal what everyone can see they reveal, and even if they do, they don’t matter. But it’s undeniable now: the fix was in. . .

. . . Biden is president now, or at least he has the title, and his handlers have demonstrated no greater respect for the freedom of speech than they did in 2020. They tried to establish a Disinformation Governance Board in the Department of Homeland Security, backing down only after a barrage of negative publicity. The Biden [junta] continued to work with Twitter to censor dissident voices, notably that of [Chinese] COVID hysteria skeptic Alex Berenson. . .

. . . This is the [junta] that trotted out Old Joe in front of an ominous, Nazi-reminiscent red-and-black backdrop, flanked by two Marines, to declare that half of the American electorate represents “an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic.” The authoritarians are in charge now, and they are continuing their self-appointed role as the guardians of what you may and may not see and hear. Elon Musk, with his commitment to the freedom of speech, which is the foundation of any free society, has them frightened and enraged.

Before going further, Matt Taibbi is to be commended. As an individual, there is no doubt that he for sure is a doctrinaire liberal. But with this, as with much of his work over the past several years, he has the intellectual honesty to be an actual journalist, do his job and report the facts as they are, wherever the story takes him, while subsuming his own politics in the process. The country would be in a far better place today than it is if all those who have called themselves journalists followed his lead. Alas, for decades now, that has not been the case. In fact, the pre-internet and pre-talk radio media were and remain propagandists and stenographers for the Democrat party, and the globalist agenda to destroy America as founded. Add them to the pedagogues and you see the problem I alluded to a few paragraphs ago.

Noted Ace of Spades lurker, and a pretty good writer in his own right, Victor Davis Hanson:

The current “media”—loosely defined as the old major newspapers like the New York Times and Washington Post, the network news channels, MSNBC and CNN, PBS and NPR, the online news aggregators like Google, Apple, and Yahoo, and the social media giants like the old Twitter and Facebook—are corrupt.

They have adopted in their news coverage a utilitarian view that noble progressive ends justify almost any unethical means to obtain them. The media is unapologetically fused with the Democratic Party, the bicoastal liberal elite, and the progressive agenda.

The result is that the public cannot trust that the news it hears or reads is either accurate or true. The news as presented by these outlets has been carefully filtered to suppress narratives deemed inconvenient or antithetical to the political objectives of these entities, while inflating themes deemed useful.

This bias now accompanies increasing (and increasingly obvious) journalistic incompetence. Lax standards reflect weaponized journalism schools and woke ideology that short prior basic requisites of writing and ethical protocols of quoting and sourcing. In sum, a corrupt media that is ignorant, arrogant, and ideological explains why few now trust what it delivers. . .

. . . The media does not just suppress, but concocts. The entire Russian-collusion hoax—Robert Mueller’s vain 22-month and $40 million investigation—was a complete waste of time on the one hand, but on the other an effective effort to destroy the effectiveness of an elected president.

How many print and television celebrity journalists declared that Trump would shortly resign, be jailed, or impeached over the pee-pee tape or Christopher Steele’s other mishmash of lies? The problem for the media in promoting the fallacious dossier was not just that it was untrue, but that it was so awfully written, so obviously poorly sourced, and so Drudge Report-like amateurishly sensational that it could not be appear factual to any sane person—other than an agenda-driven and addled journalist who found it useful. . .

. . . Why, after the midterms, did we suddenly learn that Donald Trump did not, as in the case of Barack Obama’s Lois Lerner skullduggery, manipulate the IRS for political purposes to go after James Comey and Andrew McCabe? Why suddenly post-election did we read that his presidential papers at Mar-a-Lago really did not contain “nuclear codes” and “nuclear secrets” or stuff intended for sale? Why did we learn after November 8 that a special counsel was suddenly appointed? Why did we discover the Ponzi scheme of Sam Bankman-Fried only after the midterms and why is he treated as an aw-shucks teen in bum drag rather than a calculating and conniving crook? . . .

. . . The long, slow death of Jeffery Zucker’s CNN is emblematic of all the mortal sins listed above of our present-day corrupt media.

It is ancient history now and thus forgotten that the self-righteous MSNBC anchorman Lawrence O’Donnell falsely claimed that Deutsche Bank documents would prove that Russian oligarchs co-signed a loan application for Donald Trump.

Over a decade ago, CNN’s Candy Crowley—remember this impartial “moderator” of the second 2012 presidential debate?—infamously transformed before our very television eyes into an active and shameless partisan by attacking candidate Mitt Romney. CNN commentator Donna Brazile topped Crowley when she unethically leaked primary-debate questions to candidate Hillary Clinton. When pressed, Brazile serially denied her role. . .

. . . In sum, there is no media. It has ceased to exist, and the public plods on by assuming as true whatever the Pravda-like news outlets suppress and as false whatever they cover.

Yes the "public plods on." It reminds me in a way of something from the Jewish holiday of Passover, where we are introduced to a parable known as "the Four Sons."

The Wise Son, the Wicked Son, the Simple (or Lazy) Son, and the Son Who Doesn't Know Enough to Ask. If you want to know more about it from a Judaic perspective, click here for a simple explanation from the Orthodox Union. But, as it reflects the citizenry of this nation, I think you can understand why it came to mind (at least I hope so).

Thus endeth the lesson.

In my opinion, it would help conservatives to read things like this -- "the end of Trump" -- by replacing "Trump" with "America first policies". Because that is what they are actually saying. "The end of America-first policies".

None of the anti-Trump people are pro-America-first, but just anti-Trump. They are actually in favor of eliminating the America-first movement, but lying about that by saying they just want to get rid of Trump.

Just like they demonized McCain and Romney as worse than Hitler, they will also demonize anyone who takes up President Trump's America first agenda as worse than Trump. They are not about eliminating Trump, they are about eliminating the America-first agenda and anyone who supports it.

The easier and better way out was to admit that the public had lost stomach for the war and that the left was willing to take out their anger on the veteran than destroy their beloved Big Government.

I'm old enough to remember in the late 2000s when Eason Jordan admitted that CNN deliberately did not report bad news about Saddam Hussein's Iraq, because they wanted to keep their access to the country.

The reason the Left hated Fox News Channel and smeared it as "Faux News" with chants of "Fox News Lies!" is because it was the first time actual news was being reported. The facts reported on Fox News Channel were exposing all the lies and collusion of the rest of the mainstream media.

But of course the "Faux News" became accepted, because no one would believe that it was every other media outlet who was lying and colluding with one another and had been doing so for decades.

39 This "fashion" company, Balenciaga, is something I had only vaguely heard of before they decided to center their consumer pitch around BDSM for children.

Now they are referring to it as the "wrong artistic choice", as if they picked the wrong color or something, and its really causing even more anger. So much so that even me, a deeply stupid "fashion" consumer is hearing about it. Balenciaga managers don't seem to understand this wasn't a "wrong fashion choice", it was a signal of cultural rot, it was criminal exploitation of children.

44 That said, of course, as of November 2020, Fox News Channel is just as corrupt as the rest of the mainstream media when they went all-in to collude to rig and steal the 2020 election to remove President Trump from office.

So other than maybe one segment on one "news" channel -- Tucker Carlson -- there is no actual news media which has not been corrupted and does not serve as a propaganda arm of the Deep State.

Things that they never even blinked at because they were so under the radar relative to, I guess practically, engaging in a Federal coup.

While Laptop From Hell might be a breakthrough episode, it is but one of an incalculable level of abuse that has poisoned America.

If the GOP doesn't fix this, then there's no point in it existing. It won't matter if the Democrat Party wins because "conservatives stayed home" for the next election. For all intents and purposes, GOP and DNC will have become the Fusion Party of oligarchs and everyone else peasants.

50 Looking up Eason Jordan, I did not remember this:

On January 27, 2005, during the World Economic Forum annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland, Jordan was reported to have said that American troops were targeting journalists. Although there is no transcript of Jordan's statement (the event was videotaped, but the WEF refused to release it, or make a transcript of the event), Barney Frank claimed Jordan seemed to be suggesting "it was official military policy to take out journalists", and later added that some U.S. soldiers targeted reporters "maybe knowing they were killing journalists, out of anger" -- claims that Jordan denied.

Exactly what I thought when I first read about the reaction to his statements. The Left has been open about their opinion that the US Constitution is too restrictive for them to push their ultimate goals on the country.

There are probably Obama statements to that effect out there from over the years. People should research and dig them up.

C'mon, Victor. Call them what they are. What you've described is not a news media complex. However biased, corrupt and ideological they may be, a news outfit reports the news. Their biases show up in things like story selection and conclusions, not in events themselves.

What we have is not a news complex, not even a prejudicial and non-objective one. What we have is a propaganda complex. It doesn't even look like news at this point.

Even if the laptop story didn’t exist, they had the election covered with the fraud they have in place. The left doesn’t like to have to explain itself to anyone so they tanked the story for convenience. Just like this reveal Musk did with twitter. It isn’t going to amount to shit in the grand scheme of things. But at least we get to strut around “vindicated” with “see I told you so” for whatever that’s worth.

79 Before going further, Matt Taibbi is to be commended.

Very definitely, this.

I shoulda kept reading. He calls it what it is without calling it what it is. But then again, VDH is a columnist and calling out everything done by every press outlet as unfettered propaganda in plain language would probably not be conducive to his continued employment.

But I have never liked the Pravda comparison for the American press. Our press is worse than they were. At Pravda and Izvestia, because of the nature of the Soviet system, there was at least one person in those organizations - a press operator, a runner, a janitor, some position somewhere in those buildings - who was there through compulsion and force, who did it only because there was a literal gun to his head. The presence of that person (or those people), ironically, makes those outfits better than our propaganda organs. In the American system, every single person involved at every level is there by his own free choice.

Given the data available in the lookback period of 2021-2022, it is clear that there were consequential negative effects resulting from the approach taken to COVID-19 management. Given the information available at the time the decisions were made, however, we find that the mitigation and management choices made at that time with the available data that informed the overall public health strategy were not unreasonable in their correct context.

The analysis has demonstrated that while missteps were certainly made and not all responses were effective, the overall strategy reflected the state of the art in public health and responded to changes in available information as the knowledge base grew. In the event of a future pandemic outbreak, the public health authorities will learn from this event to implement more-effective responses, including:
- Faster intervention at the beginning of the outbreak
- Tighter and more complete quarantine and isolation scope
- Better management of commerce

So that is why Obama told an NPR radio interviewer in 2001 that the Warren Court did not "break free from the essential constraints" found in the Constitution and therefore one of the "tragedies" of the civil rights movement was that "the Supreme Court never ventured into the issues of redistribution of wealth."

Rush Limbaugh also weighed in: "Barack Obama calls himself a 'constitutional professor' or a 'constitutional scholar.' In truth, Barack Obama was an anti-constitutionalist professor. He studied the Constitution and he flatly rejected it. He doesn't like the Constitution. He thinks it is flawed. . . he says that the Constitution 'is a charter of negative liberties'. This is nothing short of a condemnation of the Constitution, and he calls himself a professor. The greatest government, the freest society in the history of the world, and Professor Obama calls it a charter of negative liberties! . . . What kind of person does not understand the purpose and meaning of a document written by the greatest defenders of liberty the world has ever known? Jefferson, Madison, Adams, Washington, Hamilton - they created a charter of negative liberties?"

Yeah, we have come to expect some spit and polish from the foreign agents and domestic provocateurs that make up a vast majority of our government complex. The low-life who beats off and smokes crack in a sensory deprivation tank after he got too strung out from slapping hookers, abusing children and banging his relatives is just so uncouth.

That sounds sarcastic, but it isn't. I'm largely agreeing with you.

153 But on Wednesday (April 2013), President Obama took his gun control push a step further: He admitted that only the Constitution stands between him and full gun confiscation. Rejecting concerns that new background checks might be a prelude to gun seizures, Obama suggested that worries about gun seizures were empty, and were only designed to feed "into fears about government. You hear some of these folks: 'I need a gun to protect myself from the government. We can't do background checks because the government's going to come take my guns away.' The government's us. These officials are elected by you. ... I am constrained as they are constrained by the system that our founders put in place."

I stopped watching Fox News Channel -- and any other "news" channel -- in the summer of 2004. It was evident to me back then that they were not about news, but about "entertainment". Had a conservative friend at the time turn me on to Bill O'Reilly's show. Liked how he seemed to take stands on issues. When he waffled about the Swift Boat Veterans and sat his ass securely on the fence in his closing segment, that opened my eyes. Never watched again and never looked back.

All my news since that time has been from Rush Limbaugh show (man, I miss him), military blogs and right-of-center political blogs.

165 Apparently, the FCC’s decision here was essentially a rubber-stamp of recommendations by Amazon, whose Kuiper constellation (so far entirely unlaunched) would be SpaceX’s direct competitor. In other words, the FCC is now taking sides against Starlink to favor its competitors.

Read the entire article. In every way this FCC decision smacks of politics, partly to help a Democratic ally (Jeff Bezos) and partly to hurt someone the Democrats now see as an enemy (Elon Musk).

++++
That's secondary. Helping Amazon and hurting Musk is a government goal, but not the primary goal. The primary goal is the network itself, and control over what goes over it. The Amazon satellite network will be better-controlled. People doing Bad Things That Question The Party will be suppressed and the government will get whatever taps it wants into the network. That might - but only might - not be true for Starlink. Starlink is therefore a risk that must be managed down.

Sarcasm? Are you really suggesting suppressing news is A-OK and has no impact?

Again, you can have your own opinion, but mine is that most Democrat and Indie voters have ZERO idea how corrupt the Biden Crime Family is, in every sense. They do not know of the money flowing from Ukraine, Russia and China. They do not know of the incest, the showering, the videos, and the written accusations. They have absolutely no idea of the existence of Tara Reid.

So, yes, I think widespread exposure of this news, even sensationalized coverage, would have had a significant impact on the election.

Another paragrapth where a Tweet from the governor about "this needs to be investigated" (and the Feds being called in, because all cover-ups need a federal blanket)

The remaining paragraphs speculate without evidence that Proud Boys and Patriot Front did the damage because they wanted to shut down a Drag Show. Then they take some random statements by people totally not involved who aren't cool with corrupting children and this is the confirmation that the power outage is because Reich Wing people hate gays, and all decent people should hate Conservatives and Christians because Reasons.

295 Here's a question I would like answered...

Sure, Covid 19 leaked from the Wuhan lab. My question is what was it doing there in the first place? There was a strain of covid known to be deadly to the advanced elderly and infirm prior to it being "enhanced". Some think this is a form of weaponization, but to what end? What country would want to weaponize a virus that kills off the enemy's most elderly and those with conditions that would require expensive treatment?

Doesn't the decision of the U.S. and China to fund research into Covid 19 show an interest in developing a virus that could be unleashed on their own populations to "cull the herd"? How easy would it be to introduce universal health care if the cost projections were reduced by eliminating a minimum of 50% of the overall costs by killing off the most costly users? Who was calling the shots on this funding and what were the reasons?

Isn't is obvious that our government (and China's too) wanted the option of engineering the population through a virus that would kill the heavy users of health care dollars while leaving the productive members of society healthy?

But will anything happen? What does it take anymore to shock and appall people?

Then there was Al Sharpton, Obama's 'advisor on African-Americans', who had an hourly nighttime show pushing Obama's agenda. Europeans on the continent have a history of positivism--that is a law, policy, or some other action is allowed if the government is perceived as legitimate even if it appears to override a state's primary document. This is a hangover from kings etc. where the king was the font of all power and could do no wrong.

For a brief period in England, roughly 1500 or so to 1700's, England actually imported the idea (see Grotius for example) of natural law which supposes a higher law that compels any government to not abridge the natural rights of humans or it is illegitimate as are its actions. This is what spurred the American Revolution.

Essentially, some hold the opinion that the vaxx has destroyed the IGG3 'scout' detecting the vaxx spike as damage via the IGG4 'tolerance' which recognizes both the Covid and vaxx spike as harmless. Thus, you get silent Covid infections where the spike literally is not recognized as the enemy but keeps working on destroying organs and allowing spread. The vaxx neither prevents transmissibility nor does it provide any apparent resistance to future infection--it just makes it silent. with little or no symptoms. The spike is the deadly threat long run.

Nah, kings have been making themselves into gods for ever in history in order to cement their power with creating awe among the peasants. The exception of elected chieftains during the Dark Ages or among 'barbarians' did not spur natural law (perhaps consent of the governed but that is another matter).

Essentially, natural law comes from Catholicism and from Judaism before that where there is an absolute standard of right and wrong and rulers themselves were held accountable.

378 Does God love the ones you call reprobate?

Psalms 5:5 "Thou hate doers of iniquity"

If not why did he tell us to love our enemies?

Because we are not God; because the love is "agape" which is not to be confused with "philo" or "eros" and is meant to bring Glory to God in that we, despite their persecution, are obedient to God's command and thus distinguish ourselves from the unregenerate by caring for those who hate us.

Does God chastise the ones he loves?. Yes, yet I recommend reading the rest of the passage that continues the thought that God chastens His own as a parent would chasten their own children (as opposed to someone else's)

Was God being literal or hyperbole when calling Peter Satan or likening anger to murder and lust to adultery?

Conflating and wresting the "Get thee behind me Satan" passage with the Matthew 5 passages that teach instead of replacing The Law, showing even further that even the thoughts are as sinful as the deeds, and that how even more desperate we are for a Savior.

Look, Calvinism requires very distorted interpretations of certain passages. Its key thesis primarily exists to address the seeming contradiction of knowing the future and free will.
The parable of the Wedding Feast of the Lamb ready normally has the recipients of the invitation rejecting or accepting (ie free will). The Calvinist view requires the invitation to be false or needlessly misleading. There's no need for God to hide anti free-will messaging. The Bible and God generally treats people as though they are capable of making decisions and culpable for them.
If you go with the Calvinist interpretation, you explicitly embrace the idea that some of humanity(and along Calvin's view this tends to be most) was made for the kingdom of Satan, which makes no sense unless God is dualist. Which has been heresy since forever and makes God out to be at war with Himself.

To address this in the specific, not all sin is deadly. The categorization is explicitly made in some points and even listed in parts.

The intuitive notion that there are gradations of disorder is correct. The idea that God makes things unnecessarily convoluted and wires us so that we might not see contradicts the extensive efforts He puts forth in helping us to see. It is a gnostic notion fundamentally.

399 The Bible and God generally treats people as though they are capable of making decisions and culpable for them.

Out of curiosity, how do you deal with "No one seeks after God" mentioned in both the OT and the NT. I guess the free will enthusiast is special and exempt from that characterization?

How about 1 Corinthians 2:14 that says that only those illiuminated by the Paraclete can understand the Gospel? Again, a myriad of unspecified exemptions?

When the disciples asked God to give them more faith, were they just too lazy to conjure up their own, or did they understand where faith originates?

And is the garden variety Free Will enthusiast aware of what it means to be spiritual dead? To be blinded by Satan and by God so as not to come to the Truth? Is the FWE somehow stronger than Satan and God and can thwart off this blindness?

I would like to know what you think about Grace. I hope it isn't a synonym for Entitlement.

Posted by: Reuben Hick at December 05, 2022 09:44 AM (3hSHB)

400 Post-Roman empire.
Posted by: Red Turban Someguy

Well, that will have to exclude the Eastern Empire but even there, any instituted king had a legal system where they could literally do no wrong and could not be sued in their own courts. The Catholic church, by and large, supported the powers of kings who were believers over their nobles and commoners because Romans (biblical verse) suggested good Christians must follow their leaders. Essentially, if the Church withdrew its sanction for a king, it made them vulnerable to being ousted. Thus, the church itself followed natural law but rulers mandates were governed by positivism unless the church felt they went too far. This eventually became as kings subverted the church, the divine right of kings to rule citing Samuel among others for examples.

In the 1500's, the ferment caused by the Enlightenment on the continent, the rise of Protestantism in England allied by Henry VIII's conversion, and civil war led to the idea that a king's rulership was limited by natural law in the civil as well as religious sense. The court of Chancery became one of equity rather than simply dealing with tax and church matters, and so on.

Posted by: Reuben Hick at December 05, 2022 09:44 AM (3hSHB)

Easy, God's the one who seeks us. Is that somehow unclear? It is Calvin's doctrine of irresistible grace that is meant to answer this position.

That doesn't refer to the Gospel, moreover that pre-exists the NT as a text. Early Protestant reformers weren't on board with the modern Protestant views about biblical interpretation(which is again, Gnostic). Luther and Calvin considered themselves respectively to be authoritative.

Faith comes from God, Catholics have always been clear about this.

It is God that allows us to see, God that puts forth effort that we might see. Again, revisit Calvin's answer, you're unfamiliar with the actual debate.

Ergo?

Posted by: Way, Way Downriver at December 05, 2022 09:53 AM (jYCXf)

403 The tl;dr is that the Catholic position is that God created humanity to be with Him, it is humanity that rejects God not the other way around. We would not be capable of good without God(that'd be Pelagianism), but God is abundantly generous and infinitely loving. Good is also not compulsory.

Calvinism only resolves one particular difficulty, that of knowledge of the future. Irresistible grace isn't a necessary concept except to support the dualist view of humanity.
