Happy December Hordelings. Before you get too carried away, just a few simple rules:

1) Feel free to opine and/or bloviate away this morning.
2) Be kind to one another. Yes, including trolls.
3) Don't run with sharp objects. Unless you've met your 2022 deductible, then the sky's the limit.
4) Have a wonderful weekend or not. That choice is yours.
5) Pray. I believe it works. What can it hurt?

Please submit any prayer requests to me, “Annie’s Stew” at apaslo atsign hotmail dot com. Prayer requests are generally removed after four weeks unless we receive an update.
Prayer Requests:
11/18 Update on Jewells45’s cancer: her first chemo treatment went fine. The only issue was the steroids – they gave her a horrid headache.
11/1 – Euro could use some prayers, as she is hospitalized. She is out of ICU, but says her (6 broken) ribs hurt like heck and she is trying to prevent pneumonia. She sends thanks for the prayers.
11/5 Update – Euro is home from ICU and her border collie is staying by her side. He knows she is hurting.
11/2 – That Guy What Always Says Yeah Buddy asked for prayers from the Horde for his wife, who is in the ICU and getting a ventilator tube to help with her breathing. She caught the type A flu from him, and he cannot forgive himself for passing the flu to her. He is very worried about her.
11/12 Update – His wife is home from the hospital. She’d been released already once, but then had to go back in. She had shingles and a blood infection. Home health and a physical therapist are supposed to visit next week.
11/5 – Lola requested prayers for Phil, who is suffering from renal failure as a result of a rare autoimmune liver disease. He has displayed kindness, humor, and patience throughout his life, and could use peace and relief from pain and anxiety. Also prayers for strength and comfort for his wife and daughter are requested.
11/25 Update – Phil has passed. His family and Lola are grateful for the prayers; they were beneficial for him.
11/5 – Lola also asked for prayers for Lorraine, who lost her husband suddenly. They had a long and loving marriage even as he suffered severe, chronic illness for decades. Prayers that he rests in peace would also be greatly appreciated.
11/25 Update – Please continue to pray for Lorraine, for strength and peace over the loss of her husband, and that she could accept the caring support from others.
11/5 – Troyriser asks the Horde for prayers. His wife of 15 years (and the love of his life) suddenly and unexpectedly passed away from a heart attack last month. She died in his arms, and he is struggling with nearly overwhelming grief. Prayers for strength to get through this would be appreciated.
11/5 – Wenda asked for prayers for her husband He’s struggled with Parkinson’s and dementia for several years. Two months ago, he just crashed, physically and in terms of his grip on reality. She had to agree to place his in memory care. Now he has taken another big step down, and cannot make sense of what is happening to him. He comes up with stories of horrible things he must have done to deserve this. This week they will be discussing palliative care and hospice. Any prayers are welcome.
11/5 – DD is a prayer warrior in the Horde. He and his wife have offered to drive to pray with people in the Flagstaff/Phoenix/Prescott AZ area. He is also in Tucson every other week, so could pray with people there, too. Please email me (Annie’s Stew) if you would like to get in contact with him.
11/6 – FortWorthMike sent an update on his grand-niece Chloe. She is the toddler we have been praying for who needs a kidney transplant. He wanted to let the group know that she still needs a transplant, but has made progress. She is home again now, happy and talking and running around. She still has daily dialysis, and continued prayers are much appreciated. They have helped her tremendously.
11/7 – Sven could use some prayers for healing of his incisive hernia on his right quadrant by his ribcage.
11/9 – Screaming in Digital asked for prayers for her aunt, who is dying, and her mom, who may not get there in time to say goodbye.
11/12 – grammie winger asked for prayers for peace, comfort, and wisdom for a difficult situation.
11/12 – Browndog asked for prayers for his mother, who just passed away. She finished her race at 101, having lived a full life.
11/12 – Cat Ass Trophy asked for prayers for his mother-in-law, who was hospitalized with sepsis after catching the flu while visiting his family. She had said she’d rather die than not see her grandkids, but it would be nice to not have it be prophetic. Prayers for a complete recovery are important since sepsis can cause organ failure. So far, she is improving, and they are getting a good assessment of where she is, health-wise.
11/12 – Sua Sponte sent his thanks for the Horde’s prayers. We had prayed for his friend, whose sister-in-law had been murdered. All worked out well, with no issues at the funeral, and her parents were able to attend. Also, she had life insurance, so her sons will be provided for. Thank you all so much.
11/15 – jewells45 asked for prayers. Her friend’s niece died in a car crash, at age 25. Please pray for her family.
11/17 – Screaming in Digital requests prayers for her upcoming move from WY back to the south. She’s thankful to be moving closer to her family and for a new job that should be a great fit. Many of the rough places have already been made smooth, but she still needs wisdom, mental and physical strength, and patience for another cross-country move. She also needs prayers that she can sell a car before the move (or a workable plan if not) and that she will be focused and productive in her new job.
11/23 Update – She sold the car today, with a major assist from her wonderful stepson. Many thanks to the Horde for the prayers!
11/22 – BacktoGA’s father received a bad PET scan showing the thyroid cancer is aggressive and spreading across his body. Please pray for a speedy recovery via radiation and chemo.
11/19 – P requests prayers for her friend K, who was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. The doctors have also mentioned cysts on her pancreas and lesions on her liver. She will be having surgery on 11/28. She has a husband, 4 sons, and a large local youth group all depending on her.
11/29 Update – Thank God, the ovarian cyst was not cancer! The ovarian removals took more extensive surgery than was expected, so K will have a longer recovery period.
11/25 – grammie winger said Little Winger had a prolonged seizure which necessitated calling an ambulance. He is currently in the ICU and seems to be doing better. Any prayers would be most sincerely welcome.
11/27 – That Deplorable SOB Van Owen asked for prayers for the soul of his beloved wife, who passed away in the early morning the Wednesday before Thanksgiving from a heart attack. She is at rest and finally free of pain. He also would appreciate any prayers for help him through the overwhelming grief. His life truly revolved around her.
11/30 – Prayers are requested for DM. He is suicidal, facing a medical procedure that is worrying him. Please pray for the Lord to heal his mind and ease his worries, and to bring him through his current health crisis.

I have a question. What is the situation with the Salvation Army. They were one of my always give to charities during Christmas, but after their woke stuff last year I didn't give for the first time ever. Have they fixed anything or should I continue to just write them off?

I've read nothing about it, other than what they said last year to deny what they obviously were doing. Unless and until I see a complete and utter disavowal of wokeness, which much include wholesale firings of those responsible, I'll assume they're just laying low this year but have not changed otherwise.

I'm just about to finish the pot of coffee I made early this morning. It's doubtful I will make more . . . but very little is certain in life.

It's time I shaved and straightened up around here. The kittens keep pushing and and disturbing the rugs, and the carpet needs a vacuum to pick up the leaves and the bits of cat fur.

15 We found out my friends niece had hit an embankment then a utility pole. A lady living close by went to see if she could help. She held her hand as she died. It brought some comfort to the family that she didn't die alone. Charges are being brought against the other driver.

i've been watching a vlogger, Noraly Schoemacher, who posts on ewe toob as "Itchyboots". She's taveling as much of the world as she can via motorcycle and back roads. just watched season 2, episode 64. she spoke to a 72 yeard old museum curator lady in Bolivia where Che Guerera was executed. Lady said she was 15 and actually spoke to him before he was executed. interesting. anyway, her videos are well made and she shows some really stunning beautiful country as she rides through it.

if you watch any of her stuff, start with any random episode in early season 6. beautiful country.

A couple months back my wife and I spotted a motorcycle and it's driver down on the road. I immediately found a location to park and my wife and I ran to the scene. That's exactly what I was thinking as we ran, that if he was in really bad shape I didn't want him to die alone, in a ditch.

He left in an ambulance, though at first he didn't think he needed one. I finally said to him, "You have insurance, right? This is exactly what you've paid for." He was bruised pretty bad and I imagine he could have broken some ribs and was still in shock.

I'm not typing this out to portray myself as anything other than what I pray most people of the human persuasion are like.

Grammie, I've noticed this, but I think it's because I don't sing out loud anymore. I did so a lot when I drove more, and was at home alone more. With Mr. April home all the time, I just don't belt it out the way I used to, and now, singing out loud actually makes me cough.

I need to do something about this.

Took the week after thanksgiving off for some needed house repairs and to find another truck, one with a door on it unlike my camping Jeep I have been using for a year now as my daily commuter.

Sunday wifes cat passes. 19 and one of the best. She will be missed.
Monday find a truck. Gotta dig it out. Nothing wrong with it but been sitting for 2 years as the owners are loosers and can barely function as people. 04 Tacoma. NOBODY knows where the key is... I haven't got mad over that one yet but if I don't have a key in about 2 days I'll flip. I don't care if they have to actually clean their house to find it.
Waterpump goes out in other Jeep, The one I should be using as a daily driver but my kid needs to get back and forth to work. Half way in, it snows. I should have that done today.
Grandson #1 brings home that flu thing going around, not covid I'm told. Feel like a safe is sitting on my chest. I however cannot do a day or two in bed. I have stuff to do.

Sun is almost up. It's 12° out, better get to it.

If you have the title transferred, you might be able to get a replacement key from Toyota.

A Toyota dealer can make a key for it if you have it in your name and the VIN. Gonna cost a couple of hundred bucks though. Plus around here there is a guy with a van that sets up in front of Sams every couple of weeks that claims he can make a key for almost any car on the spot. Don't know what he charges though.

91 When I do shrimp and grits I don't use any butter. I cook them like 75% of the way in bacon grease, remove them, and then reduce a bunch of sherry in the shrimpy bacon grease, then return the shrimp to finish. Then do the grits, and add in the grease and shrimp. YMMV.

Would like to thank everyone for the prayers for my MIL.
We spent last week getting her assisted living studio apartment set up and she moved in on Thursday.
(Her 98th B-day.)
There was some friction, but she seems to have accepted the move and is settling in. She has friends on the floor where she lives, so that was a bonus.

My talented SIL was able to fit in favorite furniture, pictures and items to re-create her duplex in miniature.

My 5513 Rolex Sub from 1978, bought in '98 for $1500, sold for about $600 when it was new. I've seen asking prices on sites for the same model now for $5000.

257 Yesterday was a reasonably shitty day.

Started out by spilling an entire 151 coffee on my desk, including my keyboard and plenty of documents, because I'm a fucking idiot sometimes. Went to the 'office' and rack mounted 12 servers, 80 lbs a piece mind you, so my back was thrilled. Got home and started putting lights on the roof, which reminded me that we threw some strings away due to failure and I don't have the right lights in the right places, so I might have to start over.

After crawling around the roof for a bit, the wife got a call from my SiL saying they really need go get their old dog to the vet. She's been swelling up a bit lately and it got really bad yesterday. But, my brother is getting some injections related to his hospital stay last week and needs them every 8 hours, so I had to stay with him while they went to an ER vet. Dog had heart failure or metastatic cancer of some kind. The decision was made to put her down as she wasn't going to last much longer and the suffering was about to commence. She was 14 or so and my SiL was pretty hysterical.

Have you looked at spaces like Sawyer Yards? I know nothing about them except that my wife and sister in law drag me to the occasional craft shows they have and I like browsing the artists' spaces.

Same here. There are bierock places in Wichita that are drive thru. And my wife has an old recipe that is perfect. She hates the smell of cabbage though. But the real traditional recipeendd up with a dough that's like a very soft pretzel. So good. But I haven't had one in years.

Looking to open something on the West side of Houston where I can rent space to other artists. No galleries I know of on the west side where there some high priced neighborhoods. Yes I looked at Sawyer yards . That is a great concept. Though the art leaves something to be desired. To me anyway. 90% of the artists do crappy abstract, and I like abstract.

It must be killing him that RedState's preferred choice - Ron Desantis - isn't racking up early endorsements. The best part is when Miller makes the argument that President Trump took on the swamp but left it "more ominous" when he left, or rather forced out as I like to note.
Hey Mike, when you have a vicious animal exposed and cornered, it fights back. After President Trump exposed this D.C. Cabal, they didn't have a way to pretend they were anything but what he showed them to be. That's why they act so "ominous" now, as you put it.
