This is the first time the bat -- or, indeed, any non-bird -- has been part of the competition, which is organized by New Zealand's Forest & Bird conservation charity.
"Kiwis clearly love their native bat," Forest & Bird's Bird of the Year spokesperson, Laura Keown, said in a statement Monday announcing the result. "A vote for bats is also a vote for predator control, habitat restoration, and climate action to protect our bats and their feathered neighbours!"

At least that's what I was told when I was there. And it explained some the peculiar problems. Kiwis, for example, aren't endangered because of habitat, SUVs, Big Oil, or imaginary climate change. They're endangered because they evolved being able to make nests on the ground, with zero barrier to access, since there were no mammal predators to worry about.

One tactic I have used is anti-gingivitis mouthwash containing Cetylpyridinium chloride. Seems to help.

Okay, that worked, but I'm not going to keep doing it.
Watched the fat guy video and one of the lessons it reinforced is: don't assume fat guys have never been in shape. Just because they have a gut, that doesn't mean they weren't ninja fucking warriors back in the day. They've just mellowed, don't run 10 miles a day and the wife is a great cook.
Also, that extra mass has combat value.

The army generally gets involved before anything happens in South America.
My favorite coup was the one against Stroessner in Paraguay (He got in through a coup in the 50's)
Two elements of the Army advancing in a pincers movement against the Presidential Palace had to stop and fight a short mortar battle caused by the senior commander of one wing firing a mortar round into the rear of the other wing of the pincer because he thought they were hanging back so he would have to take the brunt of the defense of the loyal troops.
Due to the Delay, Stroessner escaped to Brazil, only returning later to be stripped of his position.

But Covid is what the leftists used along with Zuck Bucks. They have neither now plus they have thoroughly pissed off the electorate by making them poorer by the week.
They had a pass from the GOP for fraud in 2020 as GOPe like McConnell and Fox News wanted Trump gone. McConnell is far weaker as a leader and Fox paid a price in ratings dips after 2020. Neither are probably going to cover for teh Dems this time. There are no Zuck bucks to pay off voter fraud specialists and so on.
I grew up in a voter fraud saturated state in the era of the Clinton machine. Even he got his ass clocked losing reelection in 1980 by a non-entity called Frank White when Clinton went too far in voters' eyes. Basically, in a wave election, fraud isn't enough.

Start with a fatty cut of stew meat (tallow is good). Brown thoroughly with pepper and salt or a good seasoning like Tony's, reduce heat and add onions (about 1/2 as beef and a tablespoon or so of minced garlic). In a separate pan, make a roux of flower and butter or oil. Deglaze beef pan with a red wine, about two cups for a dinner for two. Add beef broth about double the volume of beef/onions. Add herbs. Easy is an italian blend.
Simmer until beef is near fork tender. Add potatoes and carrots in equal portions to beef. Simmer until potatoes and carrots are near fork tender. Add roux to thicken, by adding broth to roux to thin, then back into stew. Thicken as desired. Add a bit of tomato paste or tomato sauce until you get that beef stew color you desire. Simmer until veggies and meat are fork tender.
Timing is the key between beef doneness and veggie doneness. You can overcook the beef, but you don't want to undercook the veggies. Season to taste. Enjoy.

The original Italian Anarchists were Anarcho-Syndicalists who traced their philosophy back to the Paris Commune. They were Communists, old-school, predating Marx. Their description actually means workers collectives without higher rulers.
Anarcho means without a king or ruler, and syndicate in Italian means union.
The political philosophy meant that the highest level of authority in a society is the workers' collectives, and all decisions would come from them, leveraging their value as the labor to make industry move.
They were very much socialists, and Anarcho-Socialists are their linear descendants, except they don't actual do any work.
The whole thing is a bust because there is no way to avoid the problem of the Iron Law of Oligarchy

Heat your deep pot or oven pan on the burner, drop in shortening
Dump in about a pound of chopped meat, stir until browned (You can dredge the meat in flour before frying if you like)
add salt pepper bay leaf and any other seasoning
Add chopped potatoes, carrots, onions (don't do radishes and potatoes but anything else is game)
Add a cup or more of chopped tomatoes, or 1/4 cup of beer, red wine, apple juice or water
Cover and bake at 275F for about two hours (for a roast it is an hour a pound, but you have the veggies to cook too) that low of a temperature you need to cook it extra long, it won't dry out if it is covered
Serve with a salad and toast points.

Just depends on what you like in your stew. Start with Beef and add the veggies you like. Avoid the squishy ones as they tend to disintegrate over time. Starchier ones do just fine.
Cheaper cuts work fine if you have time to marinade them over at least several hours prior to cooking. Several ways to tenderize the beef and add flavor from meat tenderizer, fruit/vinegar marinades, or as Kindltot mentions, red wine even the opened bottle leftover stuff gives an excellent taste while tenderizing the beef.
Experiment and have fun--use whatever recipe in a book as a starter--Better Home and Gardens or the Joy of Cooking are two all encompassing decent cookbooks. Then add spices and complexity with each version you make.
