Elon Musk Concludes Twitter Purchase, and Immediately Starts Taking Out the Trash

And by trash, I mean the leftwing totalitarian executives who turned Twitter into the propaganda enforcement arm for The Regime.

According to the account linked here, the deal is closed.

The New York Times did not confirm the deal had closed at the time of this writing, but did report on the firing of the top executives.

SAN FRANCISCO -- Elon Musk has started cleaning house at Twitter with the firings of at least four top executives on Thursday, said two people with knowledge of the situation, as the billionaire closes his $44 billion takeover of the social media company.

The Twitter executives who were fired include Parag Agrawal, Twitter's chief executive, Ned Segal, the chief financial officer, Vijaya Gadde, the top legal and policy executive, and Sean Edgett, the general counsel, said the people, who declined to be identified because they were not authorized to speak publicly.
At least one of the executives who was fired was escorted out of Twitter's office, they said.

I'll bet that was the lawyer, Vijaya Gadde, who was an absolute true believer Jihadist against free speech. She's reported to have been highly emotional about seeing her little fiefdom of censorship pass from her grasp.

...

Mr. Musk, Mr. Agrawal, Mr. Segal, Ms. Gadde, Mr. Edgett and a Twitter spokeswoman did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Mr. Agrawal, who was appointed Twitter's chief executive last year, had clashed with Mr. Musk publicly and privately in recent months about the takeover. Mr. Musk had also singled out Ms. Gadde, criticizing her for her role in content moderation decisions at the company.

Here's an article from April noting that Vijaya Gadde "cried" at the thought of losing her power as America's Censorious Speech-Queen.

Monday was an emotional day at Twitter -- even for its executives.

Shortly after billionaire Elon Musk bought the powerful social media platform, top Twitter lawyer Vijaya Gadde called a virtual meeting with the policy and legal teams she oversees to discuss what the new ownership could mean for them.

Gadde cried during the meeting as she expressed concerns about how the company could change, according to three people familiar with the meeting. She acknowledged that there are significant uncertainties about what the company will look like under Musk's leadership.

Twitter spokesperson Trenton Kennedy said Gadde became emotional when discussing her team’s impact and the pride she feels in them.

...

Gadde, who has worked at Twitter since 2011, is the key executive charged with overseeing Twitter's trust and safety, legal and public policy functions. She is seen internally as Twitter's "moral authority" and the executive tasked with handling sensitive issues like harassment and dangerous speech.

She has shepherded Twitter through some of its most contentious political battles, including the decisions to remove all political advertising and to boot former President Donald Trump from the platform in the wake of the Jan. 6 attack on Capitol Hill -- a position that has earned her devoted fans within Twitter, as well as a large contingent of right-wing critics.

She showed what a committed and dishonest ideologue is when she gaslit Joe Rogan and Tim Pool when she appeared on Rogan's show.

Here's where they "explain" why they were banning people for saying "Learn to Code."

Some are enjoying the ability to speak freely:

* The vaccine doesn't work
* The election was stolen
* Climate change is a hoax
* Covid probably came from a lab
* Children's hospitals are doing sex changes on kids
* Ellen Page is a boring lesbian

What a terrible thing to say. I hope there are some serious consequences for this unauthorized exercise of First Amendment rights contingently-granted Regime permissions.

HOW could you not see this coming? At least take some steps to protect your finances when big changes are OBVIOUSLY headed at you!

143 That bit with the Tesla is just glorious beyond words. So, so, so much stupid packed into so few institutions and the people who run them.

But of course it's hardly just Twitter. The entire advertising ("social media") sector seems dominated by idiotic ignorant miseducated Hitlerjugend - who probably have just properly absorbed the "education" they've been marinating in. Totalitarian, racist beyond description, ignorant (except for the technical aspects of making their little toys work), alien mindsets more suitable to North Korea or past nightmares like the Khmer Rouge.

And places like AAPL and of course Goolag as well. One of the biggest burdens on America and the planet generally, the infestation of "high tech" with people who are ignorant deluded toxic freaks in anything outside their narrow technical role or specialty.

Google has hit middle age and its P/E valuation is now realistic 18.39--recessions hit advertising pretty hard as marketing is an easy thing to cut for companies actually selling something. Google has also announced a hiring freeze. So, the largesse is probably going to go by the wayside for the plebes in short order. People look at google as a tech company when most of their revenue comes from a small core that does AdSense--the rest of the company is designed to feed AdSense data on users of google products so they can resell that data to business.

Google has been talking about a hiring freeze and they've put their people on notice that they need to be more productive. I don't think it's likely they're going to be doing mass layoffs in the near term. If I were at Google, I'd be considering my options, certainly.

The nasty fact is that our best and brightest don't go into engineering and increasingly medicine because it is cheaper for employers to shop for people on the world market and they make fewer demands on employers (especially those on visas). So, an American with an engineering degree from a top school is looking at investing over 100k or more before they earn dollar one. Someone from a cheap uni overseas is not.

BTW, engineers are not interchangeable as are doctors due to the quality of degree received.

Also, their ad group is wrapped up in "services" which includes Android, Chrome, YouTube, and hardware like the Pixel and ChromeCast. So those other things often get tossed in the same bucket with ads when you're talking about that revenue stream.

Also, their ad group is wrapped up in "services" which includes Android, Chrome, YouTube, and hardware like the Pixel and ChromeCast. So those other things often get tossed in the same bucket with ads when you're talking about that revenue stream.
Posted by: bonhomme

Historically YT has lost megabucks, Chrome brings in no dollars itself because 'free' and Android is licensed at a nominal rate because licensing on using an open sourced linux base gets really complicated fast. Pixel is a rounding error to google with scant market share mainly used to demonstrate new functions in Android causing upgrades of phones with usually more spying built in.

The consistent earner for Google is AdSense which in 2021 composed 80 percent plus of Google's revenues (as per CNBC article). As far as cloud services go, Google is far behind market leaders AWS (Amazon) and Microsoft (Azure).

An hour later, he called back, rather embarrassed. 'You're right'. I took the occasion to point out that I had interviewed with TI upon graduation, but was not offered a job.

522 During the early 2000's when we first relocated to Silicon Valley my worked for a dot com start up. I was amazed at the amount of "stuff" the employees had access to. And it was a very small outfit. The investors at the time were throwing hundreds of millions of dollars at ventures that really only needed a folding table, a couple laptops and (at the time) a DSL connection. Yet they had a chef, yoga, sauna, etc.

Like I've asserted before; Twitter could be run from my basement with a couple laptops, a server and the internet by me and my wife. And still only work 8 hours a week.

It was a test AP Election Package. What I do not understand is why they do not Code a Big Red "TEST" over the graphics.

When I worked the emergency drills, we had it drilled into us to say "This is a Drill" before and after every message we said over the phone to our drill counterparts in the next facility, much less if we were talking in a room. You would say this is a drill about 300-500 times in every drill, and stamp 20-50 papers with a big RED "This is a Drill" Ink Stamp. Which was a great way to relieve frustrations about accidents caused by "Loss of Gravity" "The River Dried Up" and equally bogus conditions.

A good state election department would set a goal to audit 5-10% of the entire state on a rotating basis, and the legislature would fund it too. It would give them something to do in between election seasons. Do 10% of "LG City", 10% of "other 25 Cities," 10% of "Sml Towns" and 10% of Rural Townships. Audit every thing from Voter Rolls, to ballot logs to ballots, to recorded and reported results. Repeat every year.

The last 15 months was while paying for followup visits after major cancer treatments (chemo, radiation, surgery). I had companies ghost me, a recruiter die, a company hire me and then not provide a start date (they rescinded the offer 24 months later), and yeah, unemployment doesn't last that long.
