Quote II

If you shut up truth and bury it under the ground, it will but grow, and gather to itself such explosive power that the day it bursts through it will blow up everything in its way. Émile Zola

Quote III

‘Re-enacting a slave sale as a prank tells us that we have a great deal of work to do with our students so they can distinguish between intent and impact,’ Yuba City Unified School District Superintendent Doreen Osumi

Why bother even showing up?

In an appearance on the Fox News channel, Justin Berry, a member of the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement and an Austin cop, admitted that he was shocked that the city’s Democrat mayor dozed off during the funeral service for Officer Anthony Martin.

On Wednesday morning, “Fox & Friends First” co-host Todd Piro teed up the segment about Mayor Steve Adler by asking Berry, “after all the ways that this mayor has disrespected police, from defunding to eliminating your stipends which you use to live on, did him falling asleep at a cop’s funeral even come as a shock to you?”

Does everything in the cartoon world have to be sexually infused?

After decades of speculation surrounding her sexuality, Scooby-Doo's Velma Dinkley has finally been confirmed as lesbian in the latest animated film Trick or Treat Scooby-Doo!

Clips from the new flick show Velma crushing on a new female love interest named Coco Diablo.

The move comes two years after James Gunn, who penned the live-action Scooby-Doo films, revealed he wrote Velma as 'explicitly gay' before it was 'watered down' by the studio and ultimately removed.

Maybe the little bastard had it coming. Spare the rod spoil the child. Amirite?

Angelina Jolie has revealed new allegations against Brad Pitt as the two battle in court over their French estate. Pitt filed suit against Jolie after she sold her stake in the winery, which he considered a “hostile takeover.” The two have been ensnared in a contentious divorce ever since an incident on a 2016 private flight from France to California. Jolie has previously accused Pitt of physically and verbally abusing her in front of their children during a drunken rage. Those allegations also included Pitt allegedly getting physical with one of the children who reportedly attempted to defend Jolie.

In new court documents filed on Tuesday, Jolie has expanded on those allegations with new details about Pitt’s actions. She also accused Pitt of attempting to make her sign a non-disclosure agreement before entering into negotiations over selling her shares in the winery. Via The New York Times:

I've never thought about this living in The Frozen Tundra. Sharks in your back yard during a hurricane. No not Sharknado.

Florida Man Films Possible Shark in Neighbor's Yard amid Hurricane Ian: It 'Was Scary'
"I was literally terrified," Dominic Cameratta's daughter Ella tells PEOPLE of the possible shark sighting in a neighbor's backyard in Fort Myers, Florida

A shark potentially got a little too close for comfort to one Florida family amid Hurricane Ian's wrath.

On Wednesday morning, Dominic Cameratta was looking out the window at the water rising near his home in Fort Myers, Florida. He started taking a video to show his neighbors how high the water was in their backyard, but then he noticed something big moving in the water.

"I see this thing flopping around in there, and I'm like, 'Oh my God,' and I zoom in," Dominic, a 43-year-old real estate developer, tells PEOPLE of the possible shark nearby. "The way it was swimming was scary. It was moving side to side."

Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction. Or if it weren't for bad luck she would have no luck at all.

Shylah Rodden, the victim of a horrific rollercoaster accident Sunday in Australia, had walked on the track to retrieve a cell phone, a video posted to social media showed.

Rodden, 26, remains in a critical condition at Royal Melbourne Hospital after she walked onto the rollercoaster track at the Royal Melbourne Show on Sunday night and was struck by the coaster.

According to news.com.au, Rodden was trying to retrieve a dropped phone from beneath the track when she was struck and dragged 25 feet into the air before falling.

Rodden had just learned to walk again after a horrific car crash last year.

An eyewitness who unintentionally captured the moment the 26-year-old girl was struck by the rollercoaster said he “hasn’t slept since” after being left traumatized by the incident.

Graphic footage of the incident was uploaded to TikTok in the aftermath.

The ONT Musical Interlude & End of Shift Emporium

I suppose when you were in the limelight and now a has been you have to make yourself important. Roger Waters: I’m on a Ukrainian ‘Kill List’

In an explosive, wide-ranging interview, the Pink Floyd co-founder discusses his controversial views on Ukraine — and Russia, and Wikileaks, and Israel, and so much more.

ROGER WATERS DOES not want you to ignore his politics. The 79-year-old’s This Is Not A Drill Tour opens with Waters imitating a plummy British announcer and telling the audience: “If you’re one of those ‘I love Pink Floyd but I can’t stand Roger’s politics’ people, you might do well to fuck off to the bar, right now. Thank you, and please enjoy the show.”

Waters certainly has a lot of politics. He is a vocal supporter of a free Palestine and Black Lives Matter, and has spoken out against right-wing demagogues including Brazil’s Jair Bolsonaro, Hungary’s Viktor Orbán, and former U.S. President Donald Trump.

MADDOCK, N.D. (AP) — A woman who brought a wild raccoon into a North Dakota bar, which prompted state health officials to issue a warning about potential rabies exposure, is facing criminal charges.

Erin Christensen, 38, of Maddock, is charged with misdemeanor counts of providing false information to law enforcement, tampering with physical evidence and unlawful possession of furbearers.

You bury treasure, not automobiles. Florida Man Genius Award Winner.

ith Hurricane Ian devastating much of Florida, street stock racer Jeff Stalnaker locked his two race cars in a trailer to keep them safe from the storm. While the hurricane ended up sparing Stalnaker's hometown of Ocala, Florida, he ended up suffering costly damages anyway. A thief backed his truck up to Stalnaker's gooseneck trailer, hitched it up, and drove it away, unaware of its contents. Apparently, the thief was disappointed with his race car look, so he ended up burying the two cars in an abandoned sand pit. Thankfully, due to the impressive detective work done by Stalnaker, his family, and his friends, he found his stolen goods. Unfortunately, very little is salvageable.

The Alzheimer’s Association (AA) called the robust study of lecanemab, which is a monoclonal antibody designed to clear clumps of amyloid protein from the brain, “the most encouraging results in clinical trials treating the underlying causes of Alzheimer’s to date.”

He and Pushaw have countered and humiliated every idiotic claim they make. I was thinking about how some of said "oh if DeSantis is the nominee, they'll attack him just like Trump". 90 Roger Waters: I’m on a Ukrainian ‘Kill List’

The evil Ukrainian plan is to have Roger die of old age.

OTOH, the New York Times reports that US intelligence sources say the Ukrainians really did kill Alexander Dulgin's daughter in a car bomb explosion outside Moscow.

Huh? Why do a hit on the daughter of a fairly obscure anti-Ukrainian philosopher?

I saw some speculation that the US knows that the Ukraine is planning another fairly high-profile assassination, and is trying to warn the Ukrainians off.

Apropos of nothing, Putin's birthday is Friday - not that Putin is reachable, but the Ukes might have some fireworks planned.

In North Dallas several years ago they opened a new toll express freeway that goes under the normal lanes. At first there were no cops down there, and the way it's designed seems like one of those 80s racing video games with endless concrete pylons on the side, gentle slopes and curves. The first time I went down there, coincidentally, Whitesnake "Here I Go Again" came on the Sirius at the exact moment. I blasted it and floored it to well over 100 the entire length of the song. No one was down there, just me, it was still new and I guess people weren't used to it. From then on I have called it the Whitesnake Freeway, unfortunately cops hang out down there now.

283 Many times, I've enjoyed fresh, grilled squirrel. Prepared correctly, it's delicious, tender and one whole squirrel is a surprisingly filling dinner.

Grilling sauce of clarified, unsalted butter, cut with soy sauce to *just* balance the butter/salty soy. Couple tablespoons of beer. Shake of black pepper, McCormick's "Perfect Pinch" in the "Steak" variety, bit of Lemon Pepper, shake of garlic powder. Blend, and brush on the meat at the beginning, middle and near the end of the grilling.

Sumptuous, and you'll still have most of that can of beer to enjoy to wash down the squirrel. Prepared thus, you are NOT eating poor, but rather, enjoying Natures' Riches, indeed.

286 Just how bad is the "gay Velma" thing? I never watched Scooby-Doo but I gather that in the past Velma went on dates. If they are just saying now she will go on dates with women, that's not the worst news I've heard this year. But if they just can't shut up about it, and they show people in red hats trying to shame Velma for being sinful; or if they in any way make actual sex part of the show... kill it with fire. It's a show for little kids. Let little kids have this.

Even when I was the correct age I wasn't very interested in Scooby-Doo. I watched several episodes, and it was quickly clear to me that every single week the ghost was a guy wearing a bed sheet combined with hidden projectors and/or a dry ice machine. And yet, every week, Scooby and Shaggy were once again terrified of the ghost.

I was more interested in _The Amazing Chan and the Chan Clan_ which at least had a cool van with James Bond gadgets. I don't think it ever actually did anything cool but I guess I was hopeful.

298 Is it just a grudge, or have the folks whose income depends on oil decided that it's better to turn the heat way up now rather than let the green cult slide us all into EVs slowly?
Posted by: Methos

Oil is an interesting market. Cutting production often creates more revenue for exporters as prices rise. This was not viable during the 80s due to both sides of the Iran Iraq war cheating on their quotas. And it was not so effective even later, especially during slumps when the only country that would really cut back was KSA. So they would cut production and everyone else would make a lot of monery.
This is not the case right now with China importing so much and Russia partially out of the game. Now they hold the cards. This has been the case in the past but the US had to convince them that cutting production would send the US into a recession, and that would send the world into a recession, and that would hurt them *long term*. That has worked at times in the past.
The other lever is that high prices lead to high exploration and that leads to overproduction - this happened in the 70s and 90s, but it takes 5-10 years for that cycle to come around. What SA wants (char limit)

Biden is used to being a politician in America, where he can say anything he likes and it usually works. He and other lefty politicians spend so much time worrying about words that they start to think that they can use words to magic things into reality.

Or at least, he used to think that, back when his brain still functioned.

I believe that Barack Obama honestly thought he could talk the recession into going away. He became President because of his ability to talk. He found out that some problems can't be talked away... a new experience for him.

314 >>Is it just a grudge, or have the folks whose income depends on oil decided that it's better to turn the heat way up now rather than let the green cult slide us all into EVs slowly?

My guess would be a bit of both.

The Saudis and Emiratis aren't stupid. Pretty highly educated in some of the best schools in the world actually. They know what's happening with the world economy and have been planning ways to diversify their economies for some time. The Saudis are currently building the largest solar thermal powered steam plant in the world that will be used to make aluminum. That's not happening in the EU or the US, it's happening on the Arabian Peninsula.

I think MBS really despises Biden as much as we do, realizes he's weak, and is at the very least not going to help him. The left took Trump's understanding of the ME culture as weakness despite how successful he was. Watch, they will demonize MBS for daring to not bow to Biden. Because they are stupid children.

What SA wants is stability. What they need is US security and tech.
But they also see China up and coming and US receding in the ME and they must figure the US needs to be reminded some home truths.

It doesn't really help them to hurt the US, and it will also hurt China as our economy nosedives further. It may spur more exploration and greenie backpedaling, so I think hate has a lot to do with it.

I also expect China to try to lever this and make security deals in the gulf in exchange for long term commitments for oil. All bad for the US, and avoidable.

332 > Biden lost when he called MBS a killer and insisted on restarting the insane Iran deal.

Standard Procedure before even gutting a deer, elk or moose, is to cut-away the external musk glands, which are found on the backside of each hind leg. Then, clean your knife to a surgical sterility. Eliminating those glands means you can proceed to gut, skin and quarter the game, without the risk of contaminating good meat by coming into contact with those horridly rank and bitter glands.

Lotsa critters we eat have such to be removed. You start to clean game bird by cutting or ripping out it's "crop", the pouch in the lower throat, where it holds seeds n' bugs that're soon to be sent to the stomach. Nasty, sour mess in there. But you still enjoy your Thanksgiving turkey or broiled quail, all the same.

417 I fired up my 1984 Honda Big Red ATC trike today. First time in several years. Drained out some stale, but not real nasty, fuel from the tank, and poured in some fresh. I had to take carb bowl drain screw out, and get a flow established. Once that was done, it started readily off my jumper cables, but the float was stuck, and gas dribbled on the floor. I closed the tank valve, let the engine run until it faltered, and re-opened the tank valve. The leak stopped. I rode a circuit around the yard, and it steered real hard because the tires were too soft. Aired the tires up a tad. Took the battery out, and put it on a charger.

The state treasurer blasted Fink's pursuit of so-called environmental, social and governance (ESG) standards that promote green energy over traditional fossil fuels.

449 There is a very pleasant Greek resin liqueur, though. It's from only the isle of Chios, and is called Mastika. In English you just say "mastic," and we got a kick out of that because the tarry adhesive we used for things like rubber baseboards was called that.

You'd never drink a bottle of it, of course, but it has the taste that makes you understand why anybody ever thought putting turpentine in wine was a good idea.

483 I've made the trip from upstate NY to Dallas several times. I usually stop in Bowling Green Kentucky and get on the road by oh dark thirty the next AM to get through Nashville.

On the bright side the best fried chicken I've ever had comes from a gas station just off the highway in Arkansas. I've eaten there a half dozen times and I still have no idea what exit is. It's like a fried chicken Brigadoon that just appears out of nowhere.

The route I go I don't even see Kentucky. I did go to Nashville from Ohio once and went through Kentucky, it was nice. I went through, or basically around some major city that was lit up nice. Can't remember what city it was. I do remember going through bowling green. I passed the GM corvette plant. From jersey I'll go through PA, then drop down 81 all the frigging way through Virginia and into tennessee.

484 Drug for treating radiation exposure
https://is.gd/qR1Mp6

As part of long-standing, ongoing efforts to be better prepared to save lives following radiological and nuclear emergencies, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is purchasing a supply of the drug Nplate from Amgen USA Inc; Nplate is approved to treat blood cell injuries that accompany acute radiation syndrome in adult and pediatric patients (ARS).

I wonder which politicians have a stake in this.

No, the fabricator got the slabs, and I dropped the sink off to him today. I'm hoping to get it in a week. In the meanwhile I have been doing the bling, so hopefully there isn't too much to do by the time I get the granite, but there is still enough. A lot of finishing stuff. I swear, I'm so glad I don't do this shit anymore. Kitchens have gotten way complex. Not hard, just a billion more steps.

Thats completely retarded. 5 months is a long time. We used to the average kitchen in a week. We would rip it out, be done by lunch or early afternoon. The electrician and plumber would do their thing right after us and usually have it roughed in the same day. Cabinets go in the next day, or sometimes 2 days, and then a few days of finishing stuff. With that said, they have gotten way more complex. Mine probably would have taken 3-4 weeks because of how complex they are now, but I'm by myself now, and have to do the electrical, the plumbing, the floor, etc. It took me 3-4 hours last night just to do the frigging sink base hutch kit. They never had that shit, but they do now. Windows used to get a stinking valance, now they got box columns, and arches. Now you got lower trim under the cabs and finish panels for under counter lighting and massive upper crown moldings and on ,and on, and on.

Its called typhoon Bordeaux, its from brazil. A little pricey. My brother says anything with Bordeaux in the name is going to cost. I didn't know that when I picked it, so instead of a $3900 top it's $5400. Frigging ouch. Its really nice though. Its the whole in for a penny in for a pound thing. At this point I lost the outbuilding I was going to build anyway because of this, so I might as well just do the damn kitchen full blown. I originally wanted to put a down draft oven in the island, but Mrs B didn't want to loose the counter space of the island, so I went with a regular dual fuel oven.

When I knew i was going to do the kitchen I immediately went on an appliance search. This was in may-june. There was 56 people on a waiting list for the dishwasher I wanted. I had to get a more upgraded model to get it fast. I was camped out with new appliances since june. My family room looks like a war zone. Aplliances, tools, materials, etc. That poor room hasn't been right since we moved in. Thank god it's at the end of the house out of the way. It will all be over soon.

He was barred from the building (which obviously proved very effective), and so when he was spotted there, police were called. Upon their arrival 8 minutes later, they found the professor had already been shot.
Remember, when seconds count, police are only minutes away.
