Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Quick HitsA Glenfield man has now been charged with murder after allegedly running over another person at a street dance in McHenry on September 18. 41-year-old Shannon Brandt was initially charged with vehicular homicide in the incident. The left has so normalized their constant political violence that police, judges, and GOP officials, including GOP DAs, just accept leftist violence as the normal, natural order of things. NO. We do not accept it that any longer. A court has accepted the FBI's usual bullshit as to why it shouldn't have to disclose its thousands of FOIA'd documents about Seth Rich -- "will expose sources and methods," etc. (They have this bullshit as a macro) -- but the court at least did order his computer to be released, in two weeks. By the way, the FBI originally lied and claimed it had no documents at all responsive to the FOIA request. Whoops! Whoopsie! Tipped by commenter Grant Swinger, if that is his real name, a very interesting claim from LawDog, which sounds Learnéd though I don't know if it is, that the Russian pipeline explosion is almost certainly just a case of the Russians failing to do proper maintenance, plus a build-up of methane hydate crystals. He says there's a process to extract water from natural gas when you inject it into the pipe, but then, you don't get it all out, and this gas has just been sitting in the pipe for months and months, so whatever was left in the gas had all sorts of time to get up to mischief. Like forming methane hydrate crystals. LawDog doesn't explicitly say so in the article, but he implies that methane hydrate does not need free oxygen to explode. Someone in the comments says there's oxygen "in the lattice of ice" around the crystals. He notes "issues" with the pipe: They officially shut it down in July of 2020 for maintenance, and had cornbread hell getting it back on-line, and "issues" with maintaining flow throughout the next year; shut it down again in July of 2021, with bigger "issues" -- we say "issues" because the Russians won't explain what these issues were -- and even more problems, including unexplained, major disruptions in gas flow in Dec21/Jan22; Feb 22; and April 22. In my experience when anything involving energy-industry hydrocarbons explodes ... well, sabotage isn't the first thing that comes to mind. And honestly, when it comes to a pipeline running natural gas under Russian (non)maintenance, an explosion means that it's Tuesday. Or Friday. Or another day of the week ending in "y".He also points out the suspicious -- or non-suspicious -- timing of the explosions: Yes, 17 hours apart. No military is going to arrange for two pipes in the same general area to be destroyed 17 hours apart. Not without some Spec Ops guy having a fit of apoplexy. One pipe goes up in a busy shipping lane, in a busy sea, and everyone takes notice. Then you wait 17 hours to do the second -- with 17 hours for people to show up and catch you running dirty? Nah, not buying it.I don't know if he's right because I don't understand the science he's talking about and I can't say that anything he's saying is true or not. But I would say that his explanation explains one thing: The dog that didn't bark, as Sherlock Holmes said. Why isn't Russia blaming this on Ukraine and calling for an emergency UN Security Council meeting? Why aren't they screaming about it? Why are they being uncharacteristically chill about it? It would make sense that they would be a bit muted about it -- if they knew the pipe exploded during an attempt to depressurize the pipes (as LawDog speculates) and they do not want to invite further inquiry which would only wind up embarrassing them. Still, I have no idea if any of this is even plausible. Interesting, though. #SixSeasonsAndaMovie became a motto for the ratings-challenged Community TV show. Abed vowed that the short-lived TV show The Cape (was that it?) would be on for "six seasons and a movie" when Jeff said it would be cancelled in three weeks, and the show's crew, cast, and fans adopted this as their own goal. They got canceled by NBC after five seasons, but then Yahoo "Screen," their short-lived attempt at an online TV service (remember that?) picked them up for a sixth season. And now, they will finally fulfill the destiny of #SixSeasonsandaMovie as Peacock announces a Community movie. I mean, an online streaming movie, which isn't fully a movie, but I guess it's what we call a movie now. Unfortunately, Donald Glover, who played Troy and left in the middle of season 5, won't be coming back. Oh what a surprise -- the Fauci's combined wealth increased by $5 million just during the two years of the pandemic. He's a civil "servant." Must be nice! Dr. Anthony Fauci and his wife's net worth grew by $5 million during the COVID-19 pandemic as thousands of US residents struggled financially, according to a government spending watchdog group. The combined wealth of the 81-year-old retiring director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and his bioethicist wife, Christine Grady, soared from $7.5 million in 2019 to $12.6 million at the end of 2021, according to a report from the non-profit OpenTheBooks. "Despite becoming a figure of controversy, the system has rewarded Dr. Fauci handsomely," the group's CEO, Adam Andrzejewski, told Fox News Digital. "While Dr. Fauci has been a government bureaucrat for more than 55 years, his household net worth skyrocketed during the pandemic." The couple's wealth boost was due in part to major salary increases, cash awards and royalties, according to the report.Fauci has consistently refused to disclose his royalties, which are paid to him by Big Pharma, and has lied to Congress about the information about these royalties already being available to the public. It's not. It remains a secret kept under lock and key, and he won't turn the key. Europe's only surviving Queen, Margrethe of Denmark, was "inspired" by Queen Elizabeth to get rid of some her own goldbricking Harrys and Meghans and boot them out of the royal family. Europe's only reigning Queen was inspired to revoke their titles by other royals - including her late cousin Queen Elizabeth II - and claimed it was to allow the four children of her younger son, Prince Joachim: Nikolai, Felix, Henrik and Athena, to live more normal lives. It follows similar moves by other royal families in Europe, including the Windsors, to slim down their monarchies, the Danish palace said later. But her decision has 'upset' her second son Joachim and his four children. His eldest sons Nikolai and Felix - from his first marriage - have been branded 'playboy princes' because they are professional models who failed to complete their two-year military education after both concluded it was 'not right for them'. Prince Joachim insists his mother only gave him five days' notice. His first wife Alexandra, Countess of Frederiksborg, said last night she is 'in shock' and revealed: 'The children feel ostracised'. Jacob Heinel Jensen, royal correspondent for national tabloid BT who has been at the heart of the story in Denmark, told MailOnline that the Danish Royal Family is in 'crisis' -- and is now in the midst its own Megxit. He said: 'The situation we have in Denmark today is what the UK had two years ago. Yesterday we had a Prince Joachim going rogue on TV saying how upset he was, how his children are suffering. The parallels between him and Harry are there for all to see'. 'This slimming down is something we have seen all over Europe. The days of gigantic royal families with prince after prince and princess after princess, all paid for by the taxpayer, are over', he added. It's so fun to hear the lamentations of the entitled. Meanwhile, the Royal Twats may delay their Netflix series to edit out some of the nasty things they said about (checks notes) Harry's father and (checks notes) Harry's brother. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly want to edit their docuseries with Netflix and delay its release 'until next year' after the Queen's death, multiple sources have told Page Six.Netflix signed a $100 million deal with these useless layabouts, back when Netflix thought they were making money and were signing deals with everyone. They were specifically paying for dirt and gossip, not soft-focus crap. I wonder if Netflix will go the David Zaslav route and start looking for a way to "Batgirl" these two. At The Dispatch, here's the picture of Lizzo that ran to advertise Allahpundit's godawful piece about Lizzo. Except, you know, it's not Lizzo. It's just... some other black woman.
As my second week as a staff writer at The Dispatch comes to a close, I need to confess. I'm ... not really a writer. Some of you will have already noticed. Jonah Goldberg is a writer. Kevin Williamson is a writer. I'm a blogger. Bloggers have different talents than writers. We value writers for their prose and their insight. We value bloggers for their speed, their efficiency at curating news, and their ability to formulate strong political opinions--"takes," we might more aptly call them--about literally anything that might turn up on the Drudge Report or in the average news junkie's Twitter timeline. Like Liam Neeson in Taken, I have a very particular set of skills. Skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you, if you happen to be someone who esteems careful well-informed analysis over dashed-off screeds about whatever the outrage du jour might be. Can a blogger successfully transition into a writer? The Dispatch evidently thinks so. I guess we'll find out!Yeah good luck with that, Champ. We're all eager to see where your New Journey takes you. I swear to God, there's something wrong with him. It's like he's brain-damaged. Speaking of people who are terrible at their jobs, chase away audiences, and ultimately get fired, Trevor Noah says that he himself has decided to leave The Daily Show and it was totally his idea and everything. It's just that after seven years of not being funny on TV, he's ready to not be funny in his first love, stand-up comedy. Noah said he was eager to get back on the road, doing standup and seeing the world. He said it was "another part of my life I want to keep exploring."This is an obvious lie. Every stand-up, every single one, attempts to get on TV, not because they want to be an actor (they usually don't want to be an actor) and not because they don't like stand-up (they usually like stand-up itself) but because they absolutely hate the road. No one wants to be on the road. Trevor Noah does not want to be on the road. As for "seeing the world," pretty sure you can do that with a high paying job. A lot of rich people manage it. He also claimed he wanted to "continue learning languages." Oh, right. So that's why you have to return to the road. To "learn languages." Maybe he'll take a page from AllahPundit and do Stand-Up About Being a Stand-Up. Really tell the world what's going on in the crazy little bean called Trevor Noah's Brain. Young girls totally aren't pursuing unneeded surgical modifications based on what they see on TikTok and Insta: They say it's "nonsurgical" but then, they suturing your eyebrows up higher on your face. We're kind of playing close-to-the-line with the definition of "nonsurgical."
Everyone loves orgasms, right? If we didn't, we wouldn't go to ridiculous lengths to achieve them like pirating porn alone or going through the exhausting process of romancing a special someone just so we can have one in the company of another human. Well, what if I told all of you straight guys out there that there is a secret orgasm that you don't even know about, and it's much better than relieving yourself into a wad of Kleenex while your computer burns your bare thighs? This is an orgasm so good that it will make your whole body shake, every inch of your skin tingle, and your voice erupt with spontaneous screams like Meg Ryan in When Harry Met Sally. There's only one catch: To achieve this orgasm, you have to put things up your butt.Sounds pretty convincing! But on the other hand, they're in bad financial shape and are trying to sell themselves off one piece at a time, like a streetwhore with prosthetic limbs. Vice Media has hired financial advisors to seek a sale, either for the entire company or for parts of the business, according to sources. The company would prefer to sell itself in one piece but may decide to sell off business units if it can't find an appealing deal, the sources said. That was from May so I guess they haven't found an appealing deal yet. So now I just don't know what to think!!! brb looking for an old tv remote to stick up my butt Comments(Jump to bottom of comments)1

Methane clathrates are solids. Unless an anticomplexing agent (like methanol) is used t's possible for them to accumulate in pipelines and impede flow or clog the flow of gas. When the clathrates disintegrate the increase in gas pressure can be enormous, potentially rupturing the line. Just some ill-informed speculation. Look up the Denver protest killer. Matthew Dolloff. That story has it *all,* fellas. This guy was Antifa, and 9News hired him as a so-called "Antifa sherpa" to guard their crews covering the street actions during the 2020 campaign season. Reportage refers to Dolloff as "an unlicensed security guard," but he was Antifa in good standing, and employed by 9News for that reason - as a bribe to the group. During one of their street actions, a group of MAGA guys mustered a completely (not mostly) peaceful counter-protest in support of PDT. Dolloff's cheese slid off his cracker, and he pulled a gun, and murdered one of the MAGA bros. This happened in broad daylight, in front of many witnesses, and was caught on cellphone video, as well as 9News' own cameras. He (like Brandt) was "arrested" for the murder. Less than two years later? The Denver DA dropped all charges and released young Master Dolloff, on the grounds that it was... self-defense. When young Master Dolloff produced the weapon and advanced on his victim, the filthy MAGAt had the temerity to try pepper-spraying him. So he totally had it coming, and Dolloff now walks free once again. Expect the same for Brandt. Posted by: Yudhishthira's Dice at September 30, 2022 06:53 PM (oINRc) 76

Sub lets out divers to plant charges on timers, HUGE explosive charges... the sub then has to LEAVE THE AREA before the explosion, or the propagation of explosive force through the water would damage them... Then, comes back, and sets the next set of charges... and leaves the area before second boom. Could easily take 17 hours. Posted by: Romeo13 at September 30, 2022 06:54 PM (oHd/0) 83

Methane Hyrdate has nothing to do with OH groups, that's Methyl Alcohol. Its trapping methane in water/ice under pressure. I don't think its explosive, just seen it as a way to dump fossil methane into the air to have sudden warming events from rocks.
------------------------------------------------------ Methane hydrate (MH) is a solid compound in which a large amount of methane gas molecules (CH4) are caged within a crystalline structure of water, as illustrated in Fig. 7.1, under low temperature and high pressure, forming a solid similar to ice [1]. It looks like ice, but starts burning when an open flame is brought close to it; methane hydrate is often called “fiery ice.” As found in previous investigations [2], a great amount of MH exists stably undersea. The natural methane hydrate may not be purely a white agglomeration like artificial methane hydrate. Since methane hydrate exists in between the sand particles of sandy sediments as shown in Fig. 7.2, the methane hydrate-bearing sediments do not appear white but Posted by: Oldcat at September 30, 2022 07:00 PM (eoQWY) 108

I have been of the opinion it want the Russians or the us who might have bombed the pipeline. I have thought it was the Ukrainians - the only group who have nothing to lose and everything to win (I disagree wit those who say they couldn’t do this - UAVs are cheap and have awesome sonar - and easy to control).
But the methane clathrates is an I trifling idea. Water is hell on pipelines. Almost all of the major pipeline explosions in the us involve water as an origin in one form or another. But the same problem that the law guy has with the 17 hour offset of the explosion exists for clathrates as the origin. Your telling me that you had multiple clathrate explosions on two different pipelines that close to each other? Plus, it’s getting increasingly wintry there. Clathrates like to form under high pressure and near zero temperatures. Now, if the Russians were dropping the pressures in the pipelines I could see the possibility of such a release. The pressure changes and the methane locked in the ice at higher pressure is explosively released. Temperatures were just getting colder there so you would likely have more clathrate forming. Interesting problem. Posted by: Justin Castreau at September 30, 2022 07:03 PM (ai2Yq) 126

Posted by: Justin Castreau at September 30, 2022 07:03 PM (ai2Yq) Methane doesn't just explode, even if in the pipe or formed in a clathrate. It needs free oxygen (from where?) and a spark or flame (also in short supply). And scuba diver depth in the Baltic in summer is hardly high pressure and low temperature. This is chemistry, not maths, and more to the point it's REALLY BAD chemistry. There are two hydrogen atoms in water, not two oxygen atoms. You can get methane hydrate, yes, but that's also why gas pipelines are built with insane amounts of safety and redundancy. And certainly why free radicals aren't allowed in the pipes. The neocon tribe is trying to sell "methane hydrates" as why two gas pipelines of dramatically different age exploded in two close locations OUTSIDE Russian territory without completely destroying all of the gas inside the pipeline. But that's beneath the level of remedial chemistry. I agrée on clathrates not being explosive. But if the Russians were bleeding off pressure on the pipelines you might have had a pressure excursion of the methane trapped in the ice at higher pressures. It might be enough to rupture the pipeline. But the proximity is mighty suspicious. Unless those are local or pipeline low spots. So assume a pressure spike due to ice releasing methane stored in clathrate at a higher pressure. That rupture the pipeline, dropping pressure more, resulting in an additional clathrate explosion. But only two? And then this repeats in the next pipeline next door? If pressures were steady state. Hmmm. I can’t see a pressure spike high enough to cause a pipeline to rupture. On top of that I think a pipeline rupture may have a different signature than an explosive signature. The Swedes aren’t idiots. Pressure waves and the speed of the pressure wave is probably different for a pipe burst than for an explosion. Exxon, Chevron Phillips, all of them have explosions... -all the time- You don't hear about them because they have super damage control/fire control - the people are trained and proficient - take care of business -- people are rarely, severely damaged. Thing is, Russia has seen a massive exodus of talent. You think any Russian engineer worth his salt is gonna stick around and maybe get drafted? Fuck no - these guys hit the exists months ago - the world is begging for them. And most of the Russian oil industry was being run by out of town companies anyway. When EM, BP, and Shell left the clock started ticking for shit to fall apart. They are running a system nobody knows how to run. It's like handing the steering wheel over to a 10 year old - for the first few minutes the car won't crash. This winter all sorts of crazy, terrible shit is going to happen to their gas and oil wells in Siberia. Many will just become inoperable, with a bunch of idiots scratching their heads over. Posted by: Justin Castreau at September 30, 2022 07:15 PM (ai2Yq) They are closer to high spots and low pressure and warm temperatures - shallowish regions near Bornholm Island. I believe the 2 pipeline systems have three pipes and all were broken in two incidents 17 hours apart. Not a single person reads these bloggers for their hot political takes, rather the opposite. Second, bloggers live and die on writing skill. If you cannot write, you cannot blog. "The neocon tribe is trying to sell "methane hydrates" as why two gas pipelines of dramatically different age exploded in two close locations OUTSIDE Russian territory without completely destroying all of the gas inside the pipeline."
they may need to refine their story ... the long time (due to shut down) for methane hydrate buildup gave time for excessive buildup. The employee problem and war interrupted more routine efforts. The first explosion disrupted the other pipeline (a mile away, idk .heh) ... And the second pipeline was really not empty, it was being used, but because it was a covert effort, they did not have all the equipment to do correct maintenance. OK, that would need a lot of work, but they might be able to put together a plausible scenario, if this one isn't working. A lot of Russians are pretty disgruntled and leaving Russia to avoid dying for Putin .. so maybe play the "Russian Insurrection" card ... a lot of that going around. Of all the politicians involved in this fight right now I'd put money on the fact he has forgotten more about Ukraine than all of them combined know. Putin might not win this fight but the claims that he is being crushed seem a bit premature. We just sent another $14 billion to Ukraine, Europe is imploding and we aren't far behind. And winter is coming. He's done an awful lot of damage to the NATO allies without firing a shot at us. Posted by: JackStraw at September 30, 2022 07:49 PM (ZLI7S) 353

I disagree. The Cartels are killing Americans without any blow-back. If they cross the border, the traditional war-fighting strength of America - massive amounts of firepower - will shred an invading army quickly. With drugs, there is not need to do anything but buy off politicians, police, and media, then ship product. Posted by: NaCly Dog (u82oZ) at September 30, 2022 07:50 PM (u82oZ) 354

Yes, gas pipelines blow up all of the time (for certain values of "blow up").
We had two gas pipelines at our company rupture during the month of September. Posted by: Pillage Idiot That’s key Pipelines do rupture - they are just a big pressure vessel and it happens. Many many times without flamage. But two bursts on one pipeline (what causes the second burst?). And then another excursion within 24 hours on another pipeline of a completely different vintage? Resulting in seismic signatures that resemble explosions? I like the clathrate explanation. It’s would show that there’s still sanity. But I don’t buy it. 🙁 Posted by: Justin Castreau at September 30, 2022 07:50 PM (ai2Yq) 356

I would worry more if Putin had been GRU. Those were the hard-core spies and intel operators. The KGB had plenty of flaws in their visualization of the opposition. Like a group-think error. Pretty long delay timer though
Posted by: Oldcat I know. That is a real confounding factor. P(natural explosion) followed by P(natural explosion close by shortly after with reduced pressure in system) followed by P(natural explosion another pipeline of different vintage 17 hours later) followed by P(natural explosion close by shortly after with reduced pressure in system). Vs P(deliberate explosion) followed by P(deliberate explosion close by) followed by P(deliberate explosion another pipeline of different vintage designed to confuse) followed by P(natural explosion close by after pressure loss) I hate both of these. But the second seems more likely. A natural explosion due to a controlled pressure drop in both pipelines (clathrate hypothesis) could result in an additional explosion (for instance of an ice blocked pipe) when the pressure dropped. But it happening the same way a second time? In areas where water is unlikely to pool (guessing it’s a high spot) But two explosions per pipe is redundancy if it’s deliberate. With a delay thrown in to confuse the issue. Makes me lean toward this hypothesis. Posted by: Justin Castreau at September 30, 2022 08:02 PM (ai2Yq) 370

I have no idea if the pipeline explosions were accidents or a deliberate act.
I am only typing to rebut the idea that some people are posting - that it couldn't possibly be an accident. The theory of multiple, independent accidents occurring in a narrow time frame is exceedingly unlikely. Except for one large caveat. If the Russians (or someone else in the operational stream) changed the conditions in the pipelines and put them into a hazardous state, then these ARE NOT independent accidents. The LawDog article that was linked is certainly plausible.
You get water hammer in your 3/4" house pipes due solely to the acceleration of an incompressible fluid with a 30 psi pressure differential. A 48" pipeline, with a COMPRESSIBLE fluid at 1500 psi, easily has the potential for pipeline destroying momentum due to an accelerating clathrate plug, a lost pig, etc. Posted by: Pillage Idiot at September 30, 2022 08:15 PM (HlyYF) 376
put them into a hazardous state, then these ARE NOT independent accidents.
Posted by: Pillage Idiot If they were bleeding pressure (which could result in a pressure change and pressure excursion) it wasn’t being done to explode the pipeline. No one has that detailed an idea of what is occurring in the pipeline. As for clathrates. The sea floors are packed with methane clathrates. There’s been a long ranging discussion on mining them since there are thousands of years methane resources locked in them. But the fracking version for clathrates hasn’t been developed yet. You will also hear Libs blabbering on about how global warming will cause the oceans to warm up and then release the clathrates. Which is unlikey. In the oceans where the pressures needed to form clathrates, local water temperatures are 4 C. Constant. Because water has a density maximum at 4 c and you would have to heat up the oceans a lot to warm up the high pressure areas (which are hundreds to thousands of meters deep). 174 "If methane gets hydrated, which I think means picks up an -OH group from H2O, that leaves an -O behind, which will bond with another free -O to make an O2 molecule."
-- The neocon tribe is trying to sell "methane hydrates" as why two gas pipelines of dramatically different age exploded in two close locations OUTSIDE Russian territory without completely destroying all of the gas inside the pipeline. But that's beneath the level of remedial chemistry. That's the point where your high school prof takes your class schedule and orders you to take drama class because you don't have the cooking skills for home ec. But water hammer occurs because water is basically incompressible. You can get pressure waves in any pipeline but it’s not going to be like water hammer, which requires a sudden closure.
I’ve dealt with water hammer with pipelines of the same diameter as the gas pipelines. We have engineered solutions for those. For gas pipelines water hammer type resonances are not a primary driver. Posted by: Justin Castreau at September 30, 2022 08:23 PM (ai2Yq) 380
Because natural gas is compressible and water is basically not.

BTW the permafrost doesn't explode yet contains methane trapped in ice.
Posted by: Ciampino I meant to make that point in talking about clathrates at depth. We just don’t see explosions. You can see a pressure excursion due to a change in pipeline pressure. But I view it as unlikely. Posted by: Justin Castreau at September 30, 2022 08:29 PM (ai2Yq) 382
