Clean Lines Cafe

Old dog is exhausted just watching young dog run around like a lunatic.

Catnip warlord.

Purr-kour.

Cat-ortion.

Little "tough guy" dog runs his mouth when he's restrained and far away from the big dog he's trying to intimidate, and then gets very quiet when he's unrestrained and close to the big dog.

'Sup, shawty?

Since you're giving those out...

Just five more minutes...

I made you something, do you like it?

I halp!

Which button do you think will do the most damage?

Otter juggles.

Another baby elephant shows you who's boss.

When it says "dog saves its friend from drowning," does he mean the dog that saved the other dog, or does he mean the first dog, that saved the stick?

18 That's why I think this is actually the end of the Global American Empire. The world is beginning to think our leadership is stark raving mad.

Well that, and all the weapons and tools and pressures used to establish and maintain American power overseas is now turned in on its self against its own people, instead.

27 It had been driven by idiots so only ran on about two cylinders. My favorite story is taking it into the shop in Turlock, where they had no clue what to do with it. The mechanic said it was running fine. He was driving it through town and passing everyone. It dawned on me later that he was reading the tachometer, not the speedometer. He was doing about 60 through town.

You know, there's a class action suit waiting to happen to twatter. I too have been suspended. Not that I give a flying fig, but sadly the local PD, sheriff and FD - basically all city and county services post on twatter.

I got an amber alert from the CHP, and besides almost giving me a stroke with that alarm noise - I couldn't access the GD alert because it was on twatter! At least they used to let you look if you weren't registered.

So now if the local PD has an alert or warning about say, home break ins or BOTL's, I'm SOL. It should be illegal for tax sucking entities to use a publisher people can't access for pertinent information.

Fun to tool around in on a sunny day and be seen - or take off at green lights. But that's about it. What's even worse is it's really hard to tell the knock-offs from the real thing these days. I'd rather have a cool little Alfa or Jag, and a custom-made oil pan. Or maybe even a Persian rug to soak up the leaking oil.

Daily driving in stop and go traffic in a Shelby 427.

One, you are going to poach from just the engine heat.
Two, the sound of the engine would leave you deaf and any other car-sound experience would be wasted on you.
Three, I wonder what the clutch feel is like on those? That much power, that light, no traction control on any sort of hill?

Two, the sound of the engine would leave you deaf and any other car-sound experience would be wasted on you.

- I don't think I'd ever get tired of the sound

Three, I wonder what the clutch feel is like on those? That much power, that light, no traction control on any sort of hill?

- I drive with a clutch every day and will gladly suffer thru.

I worked with a guy who replaced his entire electrical harness and components with modern parts on his MG. He had pulled the schematic for that year and model and found out he had a choice of 4 designs.
He wound up doing eenie-meenie-minee-moe to chose one to go with.

No but it corners much better. I'm assuming by "track" you mean "a track with corners etc" not a drag race. I've seen it tested over and over, those old hot sports cars even as late as the 80s just cannot compete with straight out of the box mundane cars these days. Suspension etc has gotten so much better in the last 40 years its not even close.

234 Gent I used to work for, Tommy Hamon, was an actual, no-shit, close friend of Carrol Shelby. They used to both compete in the Mexico Grand Prix, way back in the 1960s.

Tommy had a perfectly correct AC Cobra in 289, with of course, Carrol's signature on the dashboard.

Much MUCH rarer still though, was his 2005 Ford GT, one of only TWO in the world, with the dashboard also signed by Carrol Shelby. The GT is white with the blue GT stripes, and he has the peel-off vinyl stickers to put it into full Racing Livery in the White Pattern "GULF" sponsorship (vs. robin egg blue car).

One of TWO with Shelby's sig on the dash. The auction on that would be epic.

The videos aren't too tough to find. They run an 80s super hot track car and then the modern family car and the modern car wins on time.

Why? Because they hold the road better and the speed advantage is very limited by the short straight runs. You gotta slow to corner, and modern cars slow better and turn better. I mean you slap modern parts like those big brakes and modern suspension on that Daytona and its going to win but... then its not a stock Daytona any longer.

When she moved to Dallas she left it with her Mom and Dad in Colorado Springs. Her Dad had given $2500 to a Ft. Carson soldier for it because it had a crunched right front end from racing. He restored it and gave it to Mrs. E, and when she left it in his driveway he sold it to another soldier, for what he paid for it. Mrs. E reamed his ass over it and he felt so bad he bought her a Gold Wing. You can't get most any PART today for $2500.

244 My 1969 roadrunner is basically a flying brick. I used to white knuckle it in sharp turns. I have improved it a lot though, so its vastly improved over stock. Its way better than when I got it. The main thing was to make the suspension friendly for radial tires. I torque boxed the lower control arms and used tie rods from chrysler land yachts, like the new yorker or imperial. They fit right in with no mods. Bigger torsion bars, KYB shocks, hemi springs in the rear, and she was good to go. Drives great. Its a gas hog though. It has a slightly tweaked big block, so if you want to piss away gas like it was free thats the car.

266 The Porsche 914 was a go cart. Horribly underpowered in the 4 banger models, but on a race track with little in the way of long straights and lots of twisty bits you could pretty much leave your foot planted on the loud peddle and shift when necessary.

Mine, a 74 1.8L (modified) made about 97HP. Took it to Laguna Seca several times.

267 Yes. A Co-bra, for well-endowed ladies for whom one bra is simply not enough.

I have no idea...

There are few companies that build the build the front suspension clip for them that takes that into consideration. Curb weight is higher but little is lost in lateral g's.

No, I'd remember dating her.

272 I had a 72 914 in the early 80s. Bought it for $1000 and sold it for $1000. It was a go kart, not as much as the X1/9 I got later, but it had more power.

It had that crappy fuel injection that I took out and put a Holly carb on it.

Still one of the best skid pad ratings ever, even after 50+ years.

Thats a such a good engine. A friend of mine has a tweaked 327 in a 55. It runs great. I would love a 427 in a '55 though.

Had a '68 Camaro RS, 4 spd., dyno-tweaked 327, 3.70 posi rear, KONI SD adjustable shocks, '69 Z-28 15x7 wheels, Firestone F60 tires. By far, the most fun American I've ever owned. Made some fast trips from the midwest down through the mountains to NC in that car. US Hwy 52 the whole way.

280 I used to drive that 914 from Monterey, CA to Menlo Park off and on from 2003 to 2007. My primary ride at the time was a BMW E36 325is. It's about 100 miles one way over CA highway 17 which crosses the coastal range from the Pacific to the Silicon Valley. That is about 35 miles of two lane switchbacks, up one side, down the other.

1HR 5 minutes is my personal best.

In the 914.

Buddy of mine has a 55 210 post and he dropped a 327 pacesetter race engine it. Turning almost 500 hp. The thing rips and looks good doing it in candy apple red over white.

283 My ex-girlfriend's next boyfriend's Porsche 914 caught fire one day (aluminum engine block) and burned to the ground. Meanwhile, my MGB just kept rolling along. Sometimes, there is a God.

284 Oh,my! That is a really, really good photo! In color, it would have been trite.

Is the car a Cobra? But the windscreen doesn't look quite right for that.

Posted by: DaveK at September 30, 2022 10:36 PM (DKC4O)

285 85 Not if it's right hand drive.

Did they make any rhd Cobras? I guess maybe some for England. It feels more likely that its a flipped image, but yeah, maybe its that.
Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at September 30, 2022 08:14 PM (Ivdso)

I'd say flipped. Did an image search and found more pix from the series. One shows a side view and the 427 badge over the engine compartment louvers. Numbers are flipped. Seems to be a left hand drive.
