That's why I think this is actually the end of the Global American Empire. The world is beginning to think our leadership is stark raving mad.
Well that, and all the weapons and tools and pressures used to establish and maintain American power overseas is now turned in on its self against its own people, instead. It had been driven by idiots so only ran on about two cylinders. My favorite story is taking it into the shop in Turlock, where they had no clue what to do with it. The mechanic said it was running fine. He was driving it through town and passing everyone. It dawned on me later that he was reading the tachometer, not the speedometer. He was doing about 60 through town.

Not that I give a flying fig, but sadly the local PD, sheriff and FD - basically all city and county services post on twatter. I got an amber alert from the CHP, and besides almost giving me a stroke with that alarm noise - I couldn't access the GD alert because it was on twatter! At least they used to let you look if you weren't registered. So now if the local PD has an alert or warning about say, home break ins or BOTL's, I'm SOL. It should be illegal for tax sucking entities to use a publisher people can't access for pertinent information. No but it corners much better. I'm assuming by "track" you mean "a track with corners etc" not a drag race. I've seen it tested over and over, those old hot sports cars even as late as the 80s just cannot compete with straight out of the box mundane cars these days. No but it corners much better. I'm assuming by "track" you mean "a track with corners etc" not a drag race. I've seen it tested over and over, those old hot sports cars even as late as the 80s just cannot compete with straight out of the box mundane cars these days. Suspension etc has gotten so much better in the last 40 years its not even close.

Gent I used to work for, Tommy Hamon, was an actual, no-shit, close friend of Carrol Shelby. They used to both compete in the Mexico Grand Prix, way back in the 1960s.
Tommy had a perfectly correct AC Cobra in 289, with of course, Carrol's signature on the dashboard. Much MUCH rarer still though, was his 2005 Ford GT, one of only TWO in the world, with the dashboard also signed by Carrol Shelby. The GT is white with the blue GT stripes, and he has the peel-off vinyl stickers to put it into full Racing Livery in the White Pattern "GULF" sponsorship (vs. robin egg blue car). One of TWO with Shelby's sig on the dash. The auction on that would be epic. Jim Sunk New Dawn Galveston, TX Posted by: Jim at September 30, 2022 09:32 PM (e6UQI) 235

The videos aren't too tough to find. They run an 80s super hot track car and then the modern family car and the modern car wins on time. Why? Because they hold the road better and the speed advantage is very limited by the short straight runs. You gotta slow to corner, and modern cars slow better and turn better. I mean you slap modern parts like those big brakes and modern suspension on that Daytona and its going to win but... then its not a stock Daytona any longer. My 1969 roadrunner is basically a flying brick. I used to white knuckle it in sharp turns. I have improved it a lot though, so its vastly improved over stock. Its way better than when I got it. The main thing was to make the suspension friendly for radial tires. I torque boxed the lower control arms and used tie rods from chrysler land yachts, like the new yorker or imperial. They fit right in with no mods. Bigger torsion bars, KYB shocks, hemi springs in the rear, and she was good to go. Drives great. Its a gas hog though. It has a slightly tweaked big block, so if you want to piss away gas like it was free thats the car.

I still want a '55 chevy and a hotrod model A, but '55 chevy first.
Posted by: Berserker-Dragonheads Division at September 30, 2022 09:53 PM (VwHCD) Buddy of mine has a 55 210 post and he dropped a 327 pacesetter race engine it. Turning almost 500 hp. The thing rips and looks good doing it in candy apple red over white. Posted by: Quilters Irish Death at September 30, 2022 10:08 PM (OgrpQ) 282

My ex-girlfriend's next boyfriend's Porsche 914 caught fire one day (aluminum engine block) and burned to the ground. Meanwhile, my MGB just kept rolling along. Sometimes, there is a God.

Is the car a Cobra? But the windscreen doesn't look quite right for that. Posted by: DaveK at September 30, 2022 10:36 PM (DKC4O) 285
85 Not if it's right hand drive.
Did they make any rhd Cobras? I guess maybe some for England. It feels more likely that its a flipped image, but yeah, maybe its that. Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at September 30, 2022 08:14 PM (Ivdso) I'd say flipped. Did an image search and found more pix from the series. One shows a side view and the 427 badge over the engine compartment louvers. Numbers are flipped. Seems to be a left hand drive. Posted by: Iron Mike Golf at September 30, 2022 11:43 PM (8C7+r) 286
