The Saturday Night Joke

Two statues in a park

There were two statues in a park, one of a naked man, and one of a naked woman. They had been facing each other for a hundred years across a pathway, when one day an angel comes down, and with a single gesture brings the two to life.

The angel tells them, “As a reward for being so patient through a hundred blazing summers and dismal winters, you have been given life for thirty minutes to do what you’ve wished to do the most.”

He looks at her, she looks at him, and they go running behind the shrubbery. The angel waits patiently as the bushes rustle and giggling ensues. After fifteen minutes, the two return, out of breath and laughing.
The angel tells them, “Um, you have fifteen minutes left, would you care to do it again?” He asks her “Shall we?” She eagerly replies, “Oh, yes, lets! But lets change positions. This time, I’ll hold the pigeon down and you shit on its head.” (H/T TNDeplorable)

Pay equity? Ha.

Employers in California will have to post salaries for job listings under a new law signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom.

This week, Newsom signed Senate Bill 1162 as part of a statewide effort to promote pay equity. The bill requires companies with 15 or more workers to include pay scales in job postings and provide them to employees upon request.

Fines can be imposed for failing to submit demographic pay data to the state.

Quite the sighting for these youngsters. Hey! There's a moose out front.

Sept. 30 (UPI) -- Children at a Maine daycare looked out a window and took in an unusual sight -- a moose visiting the campus.

The Summit Learning Center in Bangor said the moose showed up outside the window, to the great amusement of the children.

A bank employee in Boston’s Hyde Park neighborhood has been accused of forging a $65,000 at the bank to buy himself a brand new BMW, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office.

Damion Evans, 42, has been charged with embezzlement from a bank, forgery of a check and uttering a false check, a spokesperson for the DA’s office said.

I guess there is a market for everything. Who knew?

Spanish police have arrested 29 people after seizing 180kg of critically endangered young European eels with a value on the hidden market of €270,000 (£237,000).

The Guardia Civil said the operation, in collaboration with Europol, had also led to 20 arrests elsewhere in Europe.

The elvers, or glass eels – prized as a delicacy in Spain and parts of east Asia – were found after officers carried out almost 3,000 checks and inspections in ports, airports and other transport hubs.

“Most of the offences relate to illegal fishing, unlawful possession, illegal trafficking of endangered species and violations of laws governing natural spaces,” the Guardia Civil said.

Pancakes should be simple to make?

When I think about making pancakes, I turn on the griddle and mix up some pancake batter. When The Brick Wall thinks about making pancakes, they draw up schematics for a series of LEGO machines that will do it for them. Watch this incredibly complicated homemade factory break eggs, then add flour, milk, and the other ingredients, mix it all together, lubricate the frying pan, pour batter, turn the pancake (yes, they are made one at a time), and transfer it to a plate. This has to be the most complicated method ever devised to make breakfast, but it's fascinating to watch. If I had been the one to build these machines, I would feel the need to open a diner to make the time and effort pay off. But LEGO bricks are toys, so the point of this whole project is to have fun doing it. -via Laughing Squid

Over the last three decades, the internet has grown at a mind-bending pace.

In 1993, there were fewer than 200 websites available on the World Wide Web. Fast forward to 2022, and that figure has grown to 2 billion.

This animated graphic by James Eagle provides a historical look at the evolution of the internet, showing the most popular websites over the years from 1993 to 2022.

Sometimes plans just don't work out.

A Scots wife has advertised a coffin online which she is giving away because "her husband has lived longer than she had hoped". Margaret Stables posted an advert for the brand new coffin which she originally purchased for her partner on Facebook Marketplace.

The woman, from Easdale near Oban, has left social media users in stitches after the listing was made on Monday. The picture placed alongside the advert showed the sparkling new, silver coffin with a white pillow inside.

Margaret wrote: "Giving away a brand new coffin. Bought it for my husband but he has lived longer than I had hoped and expected so no longer required and it’s cluttering up my house.

Earlier this week there were comments about HOAs. They appear to be despised universally. Tonight's Feel Good Story of The Day.

Homeowner Maliciously Complies After HOA Limits How Many Cars Allowed In Driveway

I’m not a homeowner, but if I ever am, I won’t be living anywhere with an HOA. In theory, an HOA should work, but all too often it just creates problems for some homeowners.

The problem is the power-hungry people who run them sometimes overreach and it becomes a bigger problem than whatever they were trying to prevent.

In the case of one Redditor who had it with their HOA when they limited the number of cars allowed in a driveway. Some think this may have gone too far, but if you mess with the wrong homeowner on the right day this is what happens.

The best way to maliciously comply with an obnoxious HOA is to know the law better than they do

We can’t shift the flow of time. As much as we feel like we’ve got all the time in the world to experience all we’re meant to, it one day creeps up on you that your time is running out. Instead of looking out for a new experience, a new adventure, you’re anticipating the end. But time is still going, so why not use it to the fullest?

There was a story based around that idea called What Bunny Didn't Tell Us, where one L.A. Pimp named Bunny offed his competition to get in on the lucrative side industry of retail cocaine sales in the upscale neighborhoods, and after the funeral, which involved the ex-competitor buried in his stretch limo, had a couple of his boys go dig up and steal the giant diamond ring off the dead pimp's finger. When one of the freaked out boys got back to Bunny to tell him what had happened, in suspicion that the boys had stolen the ring, Bunny took him back to the grave at gunpoint, where things got interesting.

80 Mini-rant. I went to Calgary today, to see if I could get a replacement grille for my '99 Suburban. Bambi, the slut, cracked it, and smashed the corner reflector. So i went to Pick and Pull, now owned by a big U.S. company. Big line-up to get in. Place was not crowded, the delay was due to all comers having to "sign" a hold-harmless waiver on a frigging touch-screen tablet before they could pay their dollar to enter the yard. I tried, without success; could not even get the damfool "virtual keyboard to pop up". Complained to the gal at the counter. One of her cow-orkers came out and worked the touch screen for me. They had ONE grille, and was so scabby I didn't bother removing it. Mine, even with the one crack, looks better. I did get a corner reflector, so not a total loss. Checking out, I told the gal at that till that she had seen the last of me. I won't return, because that sign-in bullshit is too much monkey business for me to be involved in.

Cant help to hear Steve Cropper always in the mix. Fender Esquire, guitar chord and a small Fender Harvard single speaker amp. That's it. All of the Stax recordings are amazing to listen to anyways especially when the house band/studio musicians for all the Stax artist/singers was Booker T and the MG's.

I'm more wondering how the harley gods feel about burying a generator shovelhead. They are pretty rare in the grande scheme. When harley came out with the shovelhead top end they basically stuck them on a late panhead lower end, so they created what people call a Pan Shovel, or flat side shovel, or the correct term, generator shovel. It was made 4 years until the new bottom end came out in 1970, so yeah, somewhat rare... and he buried it. The harley gods will either be amused or frigging pissed.

Apparently there is an explosion of anti-American sentiment on German Twitter using the hashtag #Kriegserklärung (declaration of war). Chinese government officials are openly accusing the United States of being behind the bombings on Twitter.

Defense Secretary Austin really needs to get out in front of TV cameras and state simply and unequivocally that the United States did not bomb the pipelines, and that the United States did not assist anyone in bombing the pipelines.

There's a reason why he's not doing that.

We've recently cleaned the house of decades of 'things' - parent/grandparent and family keepsakes, furniture, vehicles, pictures, memorabilia. Our kids and relatives don't want most of it. Some of it very valuable and most of it personally valuable, to me at least.

I've come to the realization it's just stuff. It's valuable (to me) because grandpa, for example, used it. The family has no such attachment.

121 Life after the Other Side wins:

After awhile, they wanted to move closer to the stage and I followed. Before we could make it to the front, though, they explained how the dance floor closest to the DJ was for black and indigenous femmes only. Everyone else was to dance behind them in the following order: black and indigenous then other people of colour then mixed race
people then whites, and femmes then androgynous people then mascs. Since my new friend was mixed and I was white, I would have to dance behind them, but they pointed to a stranger and told me I could dance in front of him.

At first I thought they were joking—how could such an elaborate and specific system work on the chaos of a dance floor? But as the explanation went on I realized how serious they were. I found myself speechless, and they interpreted my silence as
confusion. “Don’t worry,” they said, putting their hand on my arm, “you’ll figure it out.”

123 HOAs

I lived in a HOA, called a cluster, in Control Central, Reston, VA, the planned community.

Lots of stupid rules. So I ran for President, and spent 5 terms in office, clearing away the stupid rules, and being a thorn in the side of the overall HOA, called Reston Association, which has power over the clusters.

Took 10 years in office, but I sold at triple my equity in the end.

Second best part, telling the paid executive at Reston Association he was selecting for sheep.

HOAs are manageable if good people step up and crush the control freaks. Fun times. Got so many stories.

funny thing is that tractors are still functional and productive for decades, especially on small operations. AND I prefer the small farm idea over the 6000 acre or more operations than want to bulldoze every fence row and woods, and even every old homestead in their way.

"Productivity" has an endpoint, and it might be where robots and/or slaves do all the work for globalist trillionaires that run an oligarchy we never imagined could exist. They the elite rule over a slave world ... dystopia even worse than the dystopia movies.

I think that the eventual goal is to eliminate choice in private hiring. Seattle and Portland already require that after a landlord establishes the rent for an apartment, that you are required to rent to the first person who applies who can demonstrate that they can pay the rent.

Same system for employment: you establish a salary range and qualifications, and you have to hire the first person who meets those qualifications who applies.

I had just been told that I needed to determine the racial and gendered identities of each stranger dancing near me, compare those imagined identities to my own, and then calculate my proximity to the stage, as well as to everyone around me, using the racial and gendered hierarchies invented by social justice culture, and to do that over and over again, all night long, as I danced behind—but not beside—the person I had come with.

Not only is it a strange place, but it has furniture they’ve never encountered before. We brought their old litter boxes, the same brand of litter they’ve used forever, their same food and water dishes, their homemade kitty playhouse, and some towels they slept on in the old place. Nope. No good. They’re still very unhappy and suspicious.

This first night is very strange. It’s like being in a hotel room. For some reason, it keeps giving off that vibe. It’s kind of creepy, But I did finally get a super good magnifying lamp for my stitching,

188 Seattle and Portland already require that after a landlord establishes the rent for an apartment, that you are required to rent to the first person who applies who can demonstrate that they can pay the rent.

Of course the result of that will be more limited rental housing and higher rent. I've known people who owned small apartment buildings, and people who would buy older homes to rent out. If they are forced to rent to people who damage property, they will simply stop investing their money in rental properties. Liberals just don't learn that government interference has consequences.

The "Doctor" nickname was a reference to the voodoo swamp doctor persona he used.

I have told this story before. In the 1990's, or thereabouts, Dr. John was scheduled to be one of the first acts to play at the then brand new Jack Singer Concert Hall in the Calgary Centre for the Performing Arts. Somebody knew somebody, and a bunch of us got front-row center seats. The good doctor comes on stage, seats himself at the piano, and they try the mics. The P.A. system was dead. He stood up, walked to the edge of the stage, and spoke to the hall. "Well, the P.A.'s don't work. We can cancel the show, and give you all a rain check, but I may not be able to return here for several years. But they tell me this hall was built to have superb acoustics, and y'all ought to be able to hear me just fine without the amps. What do you want to do, rain check (faint applause), or let me play (huge applause)?" Big hundred-watt smile. "OK, then, let's do it!" And he played and he sang for 2 hours straight. Amazing.

Two easiest ways. 1. A scratch-awl carried in a fitted leather holster. Run it through from one eye at about a 30 degree angle back through the eye socket. Brains 'em every time, less effort than the club. 2. Keep a flask of Everclear on your person, and just pour a splash on the gills. Instant Death, you'd have to see it work to believe it. I've seen a First Mate take out a 6 ft. Mako that way, with about a two ounce splash of the stuff. Would take but a capful or two for an average salmon. But Salmon Rushdie would take at least a liter, he's proven to be one tough hombre!

Yet...they want to take the same kind of people and not give them the power to determine how many cars can be in your driveway...but whether you are allowed to engage in your rights or even live.

Because you see, being part of the government instantly makes you a good person. Though...they call everyone they don't like Hitler and he is famous for being in the government...

382 The picture of the guy looking down the barrel reminds me of a video from a couple of years ago. Two guys and a girl are in a parked car and the girl seems to be challenging a heavyset guy to pull the trigger of a pistol. He does and the round goes through his head and out of the roof of the car . The other girl and guy jump out of the car screaming. The victim of his own stupidity just sits there looking stunned and bleeding. I read somewhere hr survived. Probably not too much dumber than before the shooting.

Both of them to a variation of the Mid-Atlantic accent. Nothing says "pompous ass" like that accent. Daphne, BTW, was one of Benny Hill's Angels in her younger days.

She did a made-up accent herself there. I forget the details, but for the part she tried several different actual real Brit accents, but they decided it wasn't understandable enough for the US audience. So she created that accent.

Daphne was supposed to sound working-class, peasant type English accent. She actually did a few of those, but the producers didn't think it was understandable.

417 A Malicious Math Problem (no, I don't have the answer ;-)

3 men go into a hotel. The man behind the desk says a room is $30 so each man pays $10 and goes to the room.

A while later the man behind the desk realized the room was only $25 so he sent the bellboy to the 3 guys' room with $5. On the way the bellboy couldn't figure out how to split $5 evenly between 3 men, so he gave each man a $1 and kept the other $2 for himself.

This meant that the 3 men each paid $9 for the room, which is a total of $27 add the $2 that the bellboy kept = $29. Where is the other dollar?

The $2 the bellboy stole from the refund is part of the $27 the men paid; it should be *subtracted* from that $27 to get to the $25 they were supposed to pay.

This is an example type of similar arithmetic "paradoxes". There is a slight of hand employed there, in how you think about this. You're adding things you shouldn't be added.

Look at this way. The 3 men together spend $27 for the room. The hotel gets $25, and the bellhop gets $2. It sums properly. There is no missing dollar. It's only in that addition that you mess up in your mind, and that's how these tricks work.

I'm a little too lazy in the head to track that exactly, but that's how these tricks work.

These have to do with patrons splitting the tab at a restaurant, and the waiter getting in the act to make change and stuff like that.

Some of them are based on the trick of the "velocity of money". Same dollar is used several time, making several trips around the circle. You add up each circuit, them compare it something where you're not adding the circuits, and observe some miscount. Nope, it's not, it's just a trick.

452 Berserker. I'd wager you could fly co-pilot in a light single, and figure out an A6-B circular flight slide rule, in time to help navigate the plane to within range of it's next required fuel stop.

And that's assuming you don't even know what an A6-B is.

I love looking at the bottom of that tape measure. Boom. Done. This is my way of understanding what it feels like to be a member of Mensa.

457 The Iranians nuke any part of Israel. Israelis nuke Tehran and probably Qom. Do they go whole hog, so to say, and include Mecca and Medina, as well? Islamabad, to prevent the Pakistanis from intervening? Damascus, Cairo, etc.?

Since currently the Saudis are buddying up to Israel and would likely side with them in conflict with Iran, Mecca and Medina are probably going to be off the target list.

I do not use the term "psychopath" lightly. That's who our leadership is. They are clinical psychopaths. No empathy. Everyone else is just something to be exploited for their own gain.

One of the Substackers I started following during this Coof and poison jab thing is Matthew Crawford, and his term for these guys is "the Kunlangeta". That's an old Eskimo word for what we call psychopaths.

But rather than some theoretical pyscho-babbling description, the Eskimo definition was functional. The Kunlangeta were the men who would lie, steal, cheat, and rape without conscious, without remorse. Punishing them did no good, as they were just bad seed. The old Eskimo remedy for Kunlangeta was to just make the disappear one night.

Our elite are Kunlangeta.

that sounds like a cool piece. Dividing measurements was a never a problem for me, because working off or creating center lines was a way of life for me. I would do it in my head, probably in a screwed up ass backwards way, but it worked. 47 3/8 to me would be reduce it to 45, halve that into 22 1/2", then take the remaining 2 3/8, halve that to 1 3/16, add it to 22 1/2 and get 23 11/16, or 23 5/8 full in rough carpentry lingo. lol

Also convinced of this. Long ago I used to work for a member of Congress. I saw him lie to constituents when there was no good reason for it. Not huge lies, just stupid shit. There was no need for it. Ultimately, he stayed in DC to enrich himself. He was allegedly one of the good guys. Now out of Congress, thankfully.

I understand why people in power try to pull the rug over everyone's eyes. That's easy to understand. I do not understand why so many never question it. The past two years, when you weren't allowed to question anything, the brainwashing that went on, the overwhelming acceptance of anything - that has scared the hell out of me.

Ruler fractions of inches are actually binary. Inverse powers of two. 1/2 is 0.1. 1/4 is 0.01.

Karl Denninger over at his Market Ticker has written several good posts on this Ukraine shit.

You know who started it? We did. The Washington Kunlangeta started it. Back in 2014, the US essentially backed a coup, the "Maiden" "color revolution". John McCain and others went over to Ukraine and egged it on.

Russia did not like this one little bit. Victoria Nuland was big in this. Basically, the Kunlangeta installed a puppet regime in Ukraine that would do our bidding for the Kunlangeta's benefit. Think of all the corruption with the Bidens, those bioweapons labs and all that shit.

So, on the one hand, Washington thinks it can install all the puppet govts it wants, but when another country, like Russia does that, that's bad, and a violation of international law, and a crime agin' humanity.

Here's all that has to be gone to get a deal with Putin and stop this stupid shit:

1)Ukraine will never be a member of NATO. This is formally agreed to and put in Ukraine's constitution.

2) Crimea belongs to Russia.

3) The Donbas region become indepedent. No interference and bullshit by the rest of the Ukraine such as the Azov Brigades.

4) US and NATO stay the fuck out of Ukraine, no bases, bioweapons shit, and hinky Hunter Biden chicanery going on.

Posted by: publius, Rascally Mr. Miley (Mzdiz) at October 02, 2022 03:24 AM (Mzdiz)

475 I have from day one, thought that there was something "off" about this Ukraine invasion, especially with the amount of 1st line hardware the US sent in. Is this in fact a Fux war with the real purpose being a major probe of NATO readiness? And what of Ukraine? We have given them Billions to date.

Finland has been super edgy over this whole affair and with the NORD I gas-line incident..one has to wonder.

Note those four things. They are deal breakers for Russia. Russia gets those 4 things. Now, imagine we had some master negotiator type. Maybe some bad orange man type.

He gives Russia want it wants, but in the process gets Russia to give us shit we'd like. The idea, is hey, we don't want to kill each other, do we? No. We don't want to blow each other up, no?

Of course not. Now, let's get together. You get what you want, and sweeten the pot a little for us.
