Glass Houses Cafe

mongkoknightsresized.jpg
Mong Kok Nights,
by @fishmonkeycow_

Catnip trap house.

Instagram starn't.

One's got a big brother. The other has lunch.

Human-powered flight.

Even apex predators can look pretty stupid on slippery ice.

Call this cat Mittens Dynamite!

Cat burglar.

Avengers: Aquacize!

Dog wants to play. Cats want to sit in judgment.

Cat has the perfect defensive position: the spinning desk chair.

Visiting hours.

Inman (on Rumble): Compilation of awful things involving bicycles and motorcycles. Some are funny, some are horrible. Some are funny and horrible. (Fixed!)

Compilation of some classic liberals gone wild and getting wilded on clips.

Baby rhino, he means.

Pandas disprove Survival of the Fittest.

73 I love the photos of street scenes from Asian cities. There always seems to be a mild drizzle in process, and there are cozy, well-lit food stands, like litle islands of refreshment in the darkness. Used to talk about "Old Brady" the crusty old guy that used to cut oak fenceposts back in the 1920's for the farmers and ranchers locally, He would use an axe and a power-driven circular saw that used a one cylinder gas engine (the sort that has a big fly wheel and goes Pfaff! Pfaff! because it fires when the wheel slows down) and not to put too fine a point on it, there was no guard, he made lots of posts in a day, and the accident he had starting out meant it was good he was proficient at mental calculation because he only had one thumb and 7 fingers and would otherwise be confined to computations in base 8

This has been a pointless discussion of questionable accuracy by me, for your entertainment.

Now. They are showing their true colors.
First was the vaccine mandate.
Now? We have to prove we've had every vaccine known to mankind or get it again. I had to answer a survey about my own personal health. Height, weight, previous medical issues, if I've ever been on an anti depression medication.... if I have a firearm.

So. I'm 24 inches tall, I weigh 2000 pounds and I identify as a tortoise.

Well if the sun burped, in about 8 minutes or so, we would feel the effects. A giant asteroid would be a bit quicker with double points if it hit the moon and caused the moon's orbit to decay into intersection with Earf. Or, some argue, if the whole universe is a simulation, whoever is running it could shut it down because they were late to take out their metaphysical garbage. The large Hadron Collider could also be creating black holes that are drawn to the center of the Erf and sucking matter down in a exponentially increasing rate.

I've read lots of disaster stories and they always end up the same. Curious that.

144 Nurse - I know this isn't the advice you want, but I had to make this decision back in December. The mandate was announced and I talked it over with my wife. We decided I would quit rather than take it.

Told my boss that I would be applying for an exemption, but that if I didn't get it I would quit. He tried to get me to "think clearly about this", but this was a stand I was going to take, even if it meant throwing my career away.

Fortunately, I was granted an exemption, and when the court threw out the mandate, my company just pretended like nothing happened.

You might be interested in that over cleaning probably is more harmful than dirty guns now unless you are using old timey corrosive primers or playing in the dirt, sand, and water with them.

Corrosive primers and getting rid of the residue was the reason for cleaning immediately after shooting which was a continuity with black powder days. In the 20's and 30's, there was also a time with weird smokeless/blackpowder mixes in 22LR plus corrosive primers which could rot your barrel quickly.

In a ELE wherein something hits the earth, it depends on the size of the something. Big enough and the shock/pressure wave would liquify you as it raced around the earth in a wall of fire, debris and pressure.

In a smaller ELE like what's assume to have done in the Dino's, it's dust clouds into the atmosphere that chokes the photosynthesis, killing plant life and eventually, you.

Anarchy sounds appealing to some; but historically leads to gangs (strength in numbers), which eventually leads to tribal warfare among each gang's warlord, and ultimately results in one warlord conquering -- or teaming with and then assassinating the others -- becoming dictator. [See Africa.]

This has always been the argument against radical libertarian anarcho-capitalism (which briefly appealed to me in my youth).

States around the country are reporting a significant decline in the number of students enrolled in public school because of the coronavirus pandemic, leaving experts and educators concerned about the trend, and its potential long-term consequences.

A recent study by Bellwether Education Partners, a non-profit that focuses on underserved communities, estimates that approximately 3 million of the “most educationally marginalized students in the country” may have been missing from school since March 2020, when the pandemic forced school closures.

Now look at life expectancy. It's all based on averages. Go to a very old cemetery, and sadly, a lot of newborns are there. By the same token, a lot of folks who lived into their 70s and 80s. Take Ben Franklin. The only vaccination he may have had was smallpox, yet he lived into his 80s with a vigorous lifestyle not unlike a certain former prez from AR IYKWIM. Ben should have succumbed from a lot of close contact disease or STDs, yet lived.

Which definition of Capitalism are you using? The Marxist Big Book of Hate?
That one tells you that the glorious future of mankind is one step beyond Zimbabwe, but you have to believe?

What you are describing is regulatory capture, and the last stage of cartelism, where the large business interests get the government to force all participants to not cheat on each other, and instead the government cheats on them.

Look, schools of economic thought are important, they describe the systems, but you have to make sure you have some thought in the matter, not "just so" tales.
Marxism and General theory of Macrowhatthefkcry tend to ignore causative elements and describe behavior and blame it on "greed" They also are interested in creating large powerful controlling institutions in society and tell you they are inevitable.

363 Nurse, does your employer accept Medicare for patient billing and payment?

Sounds like a federal government requirement for your employer to ensure it's up to compliance with federal standards. Blood tests are often routine (blood sugar, liver function, antibodies (new), and a drug screen). I know you're taking it hard & unfortunately the experienced professionals with years of employment & direct patient care are the very ones being made to jump through the most hoops - but you're needed. This, too, should pass. (fingers crossed)
