11 some good news:

Public opinion polls indicate Cheney will likely get trounced on Tuesday in the Republican primary for Wyoming’s statewide congressional district. She badly trails Harriet Hageman, a lawyer and politician who has been endorsed and heavily supported by Trump as the former president aims to oust Cheney from her House seat in a state where he won a whopping 70% of the vote in 2020.

She will try to do an AK thing and run as an independent.
I was unable to find whether or not Wyoming has a sore loser law.

66 Morning, folken! I've already done battle today!

A week ago a wasp got into my kitchen, traveling around the light under the hood over the stove. Stirling the Hunting Kitten spotted it for me. I removed him and killed it, kind of dramatic since I had nothing to swat it with and no wasp spray, but I did. This morning as I started my breakfast, Stirling was "pointing" again, and there was another one! This time I sprayed it good. Two little wasp husks down behind the stove now.

I figure they must be coming in via the ventilator that removes smoke with the fan. I have to ask the maintenance people to see if there is a nest in it, or up on top.

76 From the sidebar....

Amazon's Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power is really shaping up to be the most epic fail in the history of theatrical performances going back to ancient Greece.

They've had the woman who plays the "FIRST FEMALE DWARF" going out and proclaiming just how awesome it is to be the FIRST FEMALE DWARF ever portrayed on television. My guess is she's on screen for about 5 minutes. Maybe 10. And every time she opens her yap, her fellow actors always have a very pained expression like they can't believe that she's rambling on about "representation."

It's absolutely hilarious in a twisted way.

YOU

If you ever see a Big Govt going after someone important or ignoring an attack on someone important (Think James Hodgkinson and attack on Sen Paul) they are really after you. This is a signal that they have the power over you and your best bet is to hide under the covers and do what they say. Same goes for attacks. Every story relegated to page 6 about a black or Illegal Alien attack on a Citizen is meant for you to understand that in the rank of importance, you are down the list about 10 to 20 ranks.

98 93 All the time I have lived here, this building has had ants outside. The landlord has had exterminators on a regular basis and they just come back. I've never had any in my place. I'll see, every so often, a few of what the locals call grass spiders. They're harmless to humans but ants are on their menu, so I leave them alone. The car ports have a lot of large red wasps this year, and they flip the exterminator the bird.

Well here's the Rushdie attempted murderer:

At the scene, cops arrested 24-year-old Hadi Matar of Fairview, N.J., a town in Bergen County across the Hudson River from Manhattan.

143 The law of unintended consequences ALWAYS WINS:

The new platform-based standards set fuel economy targets based on wheelbase and tread width, that is, how far apart the wheels are. If your vehicle is longer and wider, the fuel-economy targets shrinks. In the words of Dan Edmunds of Edumnds.com, "There was kind of an incentive to maybe stretch the wheelbase a couple of inches and set the tires maybe an inch [farther] apart, because you get a bigger platform and slightly smaller target."

The regulations meant to get better mileage out of vehicles also made it easier for larger vehicles to meet fuel-efficiency standards. In what should have been an unsurprising move, when faced with the choice between reengineering their vehicles or simply going bigger, automakers chose to go bigger.

I miss Oldsmobile. In '91 I bought an '89 Cutlass Supreme coupe, silver over light gray, a fun car; and in '95 the same model in gold. I told people it was kind of like remarrying your ex-wife: "She's dyed her hair, lost a few pounds, and learned some new tricks!"

Olds was the value GM. You got more near-luxury than with Chevy or Pontiac, but you spent a lot less than with Buick or Cadillac. Olds often pioneered new tech: They were the first, I think, to offer the "twilight" headlights setup, where your lights could be set to stay on for up to a minute or so after engine shutoff to light your way to your door at night.

This is dangerous, because they can drive the country off the cliff without even knowing it.

It is also helpful, because it is easier to outmaneuver them. Right now they are doubling down on the same tactics that have failed for years, hoping that this time - if they just do it hard enough - it will work.

The truly disturbing thing is that - in the past - political parties avoided the tit-for-tat risk of stepping over the line. Apparently the left is no longer concerned with that. Are they *that* convinced they'll never lose an election again? If so, every red state better tighten up their election procedures to the max.

The only comparable tit-for-tat after the Great Panty Wrayed of 2022 is perp-marching Joe Biden out of his Delaware beach house in his 'tidy-whities'.

203 Consider the election shenanigans. They went big and through a remarkable confluence of events managed to eek out a "win," but a majority knows something was crooked about it.

Changes have since been made in various laws, and now SCOTUS, which tried to stay out of it, is being forced to take a deeper look. The liberal squishes are fine with most of the progressive agenda, but only to a point. Even RBG joined in multiple 9-0 smackdowns on Obama, which everyone ignores.

The same is true with other institutions who are now being forced to consider if they want to die to give the Dems a single election cycle win. Some will, but many will not, and that's a problem because they really need ALL the parts to be in place.

214 Look, trying to figure out what is going to happen is pointless because there are too many moving pieces even for the people who think they are in charge to know what's going on.

Focus on the big picture, which is that one side continues to build popular support and is increasingly strident about what is at stake. The GOPe squishes are all being marginalized. Pence's nomination is the kiss of death and everyone knows it.

Meanwhile the Dems just voted to raise inflation some more and increase energy costs. Also they've created the full IRS Employment Act. They can't possibly hire 87,000 people before January and a functional GOP House majority and refuse to fund the positions.

The idea, at least initially was to charge him with something as a pretext to have a show trial that would last through the campaign season. Democrats hoped that would hurt his popularity with key voting blocks, but it's only made him more popular and many people who were on the fence are now determined to vote for him. Many voters have internalized this and it scares them. Along with Democrats weaponizing of the IRS, it's created the worst possible electoral environment for Democrats. They know this.

Yes, they have to keep the "walls closing in" thing going, but they ran out of material so they hit upon this.

I think the most significant element is that they had to go to an Epstein-tied magistrate for the highest-profile warrant in American history. No Article III judge would have signed it.

Now they're going to try to get Article III judges to back them up, which is a very big ask.

Stupidly, it now gives Trump limitless camera time to issue statements and slam Biden.

248 238 The General Motors Assembly Plant, Lordstown, OH was built for the Firebird, and early ones were assembled there. GM, however, had bigger plans for Lordstown. It became the sole factory for the Vega and the few Vega clones sold under different badges. I think they also cranked out some Cadillac Cimmarons. What a legacy.

253 The second part of Democrats scheme is to undermine the election, again. They couldn't change the Electoral College, so they are going about that in a de facto way. By once again using mail-in ballots and ballot harvesting, they will introduce fraud into the system. They also have refused in many cases to update the voter rolls. Legally the best defense against this is to stop it before it happens. Because as we've seen, once those illegal votes are in the system, there is very little which will stop their counting. However as we've seen on places like Pennsylvania and Michigan, it will not be stopped or addressed. It's been institutionalized. Republicans should be looking at the electoral map to see where Democrats will engage in illegal voting to stop it. While it's mostly up to the legislature and in places like Pennsylvania they have massively failed, the GOP needs to shine a light on this. Otherwise it will happen again, week long counting of ballots and all.

It was addressed in both of those states. PA courts ruled mail-in ballots were illegal. Michigan is working on overriding Whitmer's veto of voter ID by petition drive. They used the same process to repeal her Emergency Powers Act.

And in every jurisdiction, you are seeing massive attention to ballot security. The Dems had the element of surprise last time. That's gone, and it's going to make it much harder to achieve the same result.

Moreover, 2020 was about stealing a *single office*. It's one thing to fabricate 100,000 undervoted ballots, but they need to steal dozens of congressional districts as well, plus state offices. That's a much larger lift.

The people pushing this believe the door was opened once the initial warrant was approved. However given the legal precedents and SCOTUS rulings on presidential authority over classification, and the actions of past Presidents, methinks that's not only specious but bound to fail. That's why they are trying to scheme and link this to January 6th. In the end it will all fail as the President has done nothing wrong. But that's not their objective. It is to somehow tar him with the public. It won't work and they've guaranteed it with this action.

265 Let's be honest - our nation is receiving the chastisement it deserves... Turning away from that is not going to be easy... We've earned a great many crosses.

The Scriptures says that "God chastens whom He loves" (Heb 12:5-6) and it doesn't speak of corporations, rather individuals (the Elect). At least that is in the NT economy. In the OT model, God chastens the descendants of whom He made the promise (descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob).

I don't see a special dispensation for We The People. If anything, it may fall under the Salt & Light Principle where the unregenerate culturally adopt the manners of the Redeemed of God in their sanctified obedience to The Way.

That is encouraging since many demographers claim to see it differently. It may be a matter of quality (what you are describing) vs quantity (which demographers measure).

As the cultural, moral and social gulf between the Reprobate and the Redeemed become more apparent, even to the most switched-off in society, it will be interesting how many turn to the behavior pattern of nominal Christianity rather than the "Days of Noah" level of wickedness.

But to get an absentee ballot you still have to formally fill out a request for one and return it to the clerk in your jurisdiction to receive it. There are deadlines in statute as to when the requests have to be received by the clerk. The ongoing mess in Michigan revolves around Detroit whose elections are run by illiterate Democrat operatives who employ illiterate lazy no shows as poll workers.

One can see why the "liberal" education project and the social media industry is designed around mainstreaming irrationality and exalting most base human and emotional impulses.

It all depends on who you ask when you do the polling.

I'm sure it's also the case that things are different. The Archdiocese of Chicago is dying, as is the Archdiocese of DC. Both have corrupt leadership who are more worried about stomping out Latin than increasing their flock.

Elsewhere, things are different. Our diocese has some issues with demographics but the vocations are going crazy right now. It's hard to grow when you have few vocations, but as they pick up, I think you'll see the improve evangelization.

Even holding the numbers constant, a 30-year-old priest has a lot more energy than one who is 60. I've talked with several people who have noticed the new generation is more energetic and orthodox.

Not really a digestive organ, but there is a thing called the omentum, kind of a fatty layer overlying the intestines, that sometimes has to be removed due to torsion (twisted blood supply)

Mrs Cop and I went to the "Fatima USA 2022" Mass and Rosary. Lots of younger folks there with the grey-hairs. There was about 20 seminarians and a good number of young priests there, too. Procession of the Blessed Virgin, bells, incense, singing Ave Maria, Prayer to the Archangel Michael. While in line for Communion, I watched the priest (30-ish years old), and when people tried to receive the Host in the hand ... nope ... he made them receive the Host on the tongue. Admittedly, it's a self-selecting group but it looks like (at least in Ohio) the Archdiocese of Cincinnati is shedding the "reforms" imposed after Vatican II.

I also noticed that one of the prayer intentions was for religious freedom. I also think we're seeing more of the bishops seeing persecution is coming for Christians. The USCCB is still infested with wolves in shepherds' clothing, but most of them are elderly, and the younger, more traditionally-minded clergy are starting to take control.

We just got a new priest (ordained in May) as a Vicar for our parish. 30-ish and just excited to be a priest, and he was wearing the traditional cassock. They've already re-instituted the bells during the Consecration of the Host, and I've been lobbying for the incense.

I noticed that Ivan Trump's funeral was at a Catholic Church (St. Vincent Ferrer's, I believe). Donald Trump has definitely been talking more about God lately. I wonder if he is having a conversion? If so, good for him. As a revert myself, the Faith is definitely comforting. I saw a little blurb that the Gen Z crowd has been reading the Bible more.
