Our lefty DU friends are still "big mad" over DeSantis' veterans teaching policy: DeSantis: "For too long, the requirements to be a teacher have been too rigid." When DeSantis says teacher requirements are too rigid, what he’s actually saying is it needs to be easier to install unqualified teachers who can indoctrinate children using conservative ideology and revisionist history. Schools are sliding in educational outcomes and indoctrinating kids with lefty crap with the current system, so maybe a change is in order?
DeSantis youth camps. Indoctrination of children. Who will rat out their parents and friends to the GOP storm trooper militia. Don't laugh, this is the plan. If a few of the more reckless types with nothing to lose start shooting, they'll easily be stopped, and serve as justification for stricter laws and government expansion. Win-win, from the Establishment's perspective.

I loved it when Dagny took time to explain why she suddenly felt it justified to use a gun instead of letting the dramatic and literary power of her embrace of force say it for her.
Posted by: TheJamesMadison -------------------- Notice that Objectivism absent its author is rapidly becoming a footnote. Ayn Rand was trying to create a third way of rugged individualism between the traditional west emphasizing both individual and society and the crushing oppression of the Sov. Union emphasizing only society. You have to balance the social contract with the real life behavior of individuals--even Rousseau recognized that. 460 I don't think the government fears the "2A mob". Most of them are established, productive members of society with too much to lose in criminal activity. Collier married two of Thomas Henry Huxley's daughters. This first, Marian Huxley died of pneumonia. Collier and Ethel Huxley, Marian's sister, had to skip off the Norway to get hitched because it was illegal to marry your dead wife's sister. Why? The Democrat version of science as near as I can figure out. The Victorian British had their quirks.

209:
Odysseus and Penelope did have a daughter, named Ktimene, which is considered pronounceable in Greek, like Ptolemy. She's mentioned in Book 15 of the Odyssey, where Eumaeus the swineherd tells the wandering beggar (Odysseus in disguise) that he and Ktimene played together as children, but now she's married and moved to a far-off island so he hasn't seen her in years. If you ever meet one of those annoying people who says "The Odyssey is my favorite book! I've read it six/seven/eight times!", ask him/her "What was Odysseus' sister's name?". If the answer is "What? Odysseus didn't have a sister!", just quietly say "I don't think you've read the _whole_ Odyssey six/seven/eight times. It looks like you skim the duller parts." (Books 14-15, where Odysseus hangs out with the swineherd telling lies and planning his revenge, is nobody's favorite part.) By the way, I once met a high-school student named Ktimene. Not Greek, but child of a poet and an English teacher. Her friends called her Kate. Much older now. Posted by: Dr. Weevil at August 15, 2022 02:17 PM (iNhu4) 500
