The Quotes of The Day

Quote I

"We were seeing everything from fights to underage drinking to drug use," PCB Police Chief JR Talamantez

Quote II

"Ms. Hutchinson stands by all of the testimony she provided yesterday, under oath, to the Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol," Statement by her attorneys Judy Hunt and William Jordan

Represented by two expensive mouth pieces this quickly. Wonder where the money came from, Liz Cheney or Allahpundit?

Quote III

"Andrew has something to hide and he has questions to answer - but I don't think he will ever be in a position where he will have to answer them because of who he is."Paul Page, who served the Royal Family for six years as an armed protection officer

Quote IV

"I was just flabbergasted that a house like this, in an area like this, could possibly have never been wired for Internet,Zachary Cohn

Reason #421 I don't like crowds of people.

Staff were forced to call out the Coast Guard as the ship, Carnival Magic, made its way towards a dock in New York City at around 5.20am.

The fight started out between just two people before dozens more joined in, according to reports.

Good fences, good neighbors, yadda, yadda.

One woman has expressed her annoyance after her neighbour decided to go ahead and paint their side of their shared fence without telling her - in the process, leaving her side in need of painting.

She took to Mumsnet anonymously to ask for advice, explaining: "My neighbour has painted their side of their fence...without telling me? My side looks awful now.

"If they had told me they were doing it, I would have arranged to get my side done too.

Kwityerbitchin' and get 'er done.

Ooops. SNAFU!

If you are a young teenage girl who believes she is fat and pukes food to lose weight we would say you are mentally ill. If you want to amputate a perfectly healthy limb we would diagnose that as a mental illness. If you want to pretend you're a different gender the Dems want to celebrate that with legislation.

A group of House Democrats made the politically questionable decision to advance a proposal they call the “Transgender Bill of Rights” on Tuesday. Apparently, it’s not enough that all signs point to them getting utterly crushed, destroyed, wrecked, and annihilated in the November midterms; these Democrats must want people to poke their party’s smoldering corpse with sticks afterward.

Obviously science is settled when it isn't, amirite?

Charged with felonies? Hell, he should be receiving medals.

SAN FRANCISCO - A man who shot and killed a passenger on a San Francisco subway commuter train will be charged with gun crimes but not homicide in what was "clearly" a case of self-defense after he was attacked with a knife, his attorney said Monday.

Javon Green, 26, will face charges of having a concealed weapon in a public place and having a loaded gun in a public place, both felonies that possibly could be reduced to misdemeanors, attorney Randy Knox told the San Francisco Chronicle.

Typical news lead, perp charged with serious crimes and faces a shitton of time. Only to have the charges reduced and sentencing withheld. Especially when a Republican is the victim.

Daniel Gill, the ShopRite employee who allegedly slapped Rudy Giuliani on the back is facing multiple criminal charges now. Gill, who was caught on video “slapping” Giuliani, is being charged with assault with intent to cause physical injury, second degree harassment, and third degree menacing.

Gill was working at the ShopRite in Staten Island, New York last Sunday. Rudy Giuliani was present and campaigning for his son, Andrew Giuliani. Andrew is running for governor of New York.

Gill allegedly walked up behind the former mayor, slapped Giuliani on his back, and said, “What’s up, scumbag?”

Well at least he didn't attempt to crotch them. Genius Award Winner.

A man was arrested Monday after attempting to shoplift 11 cases of beer from Safeway, according to the Seattle Police Department.

At about 9:38 a.m. on June 27, officers responded to a report of a man walking into a Safeway with his own cart.

The incident report did not specify which Safeway.

Hopefully these kids will learn compassion towards their fellow man. But, in the meantime Tonight's Feel Good Story of The Day.

A Tarentum foster dog born with his intestines wrapped around several organs is on the road to recovery thanks in part to efforts by Highlands Elementary students.

Kendall, an 8-month-old terrier mix housed at Tarentum-based Paws Across Pittsburgh, has undergone three surgeries to fix a multitude of birth defects, including a hole in his diaphragm, a misshaped front paw and a mislocated liver and gallbladder.

“To hear about him, he sounds like some sick, hopeless puppy, but he is really just full of energy,” said Diane Raible, co-vice president at the animal rescue.

41 If they charge Javon Green with a felony, it will end up over turned. Subtext of the NY decision is that people have a right to defend themselves.

I'd love to see these cases tested. Passing a law that you can't carry on a subway where there is no protection at all is pretty stupid. Betting it ends up the same as New York saying all of the outdoor space in the state is a special location.

When Cassidy claimed she wrote that note herself, she committed perjury. That can be proven in court (in DC Court, ha ha ha ha) and her lying lawyers could lose their licenses (by the DC Bar, ha ha ha ha).

But yeah, probably Lizard Cheney and one of those lefty tech billionaires financed this whole thing. Cheney has something like a $7 million war-chest, mostly from non WY donors, and since she's about to lose badly, might as well blow some of it on a famewhore 'witness'.

50 Reason #421 I don't like crowds of people.
I went on some cruises in the nineties and early 2000's. The first cruise on Royal Caribbean was wonderful. Each successive cruise was worse and worse. They've more than doubled the number of passengers. Carnival has always been known for drunken out of control behavior, and this is the first time they've had brawls. But I don't think the rest of them are much better.

There are luxury lines that have fewer people and a much better quality experience. I have no desire to go on a cruise, but if I did it would be on one of those.

I've heard that Holland America has a couple of ships that aren't as huge as most newer ones. Also, they have fewer children on board. Part of my problem was that there were just too many people. The other part is that more people were bringing children, and not watching them.

There was no Russia collusion. There was nothing wrong with the Ukraine phone call. There was no slandering of US troops. There was no Russian bounties. And there was no insurrection fostered by Trump on Jan 6th.

The only reason they gotten this far is because they have a media that acts like a propaganda arm of the Democrat party. Trump is about as clean as anyone who has been in DC in the last 100 years and he fights back when others wouldn't. They still haven't figured the second part out.

244 Super Redhawk is definitely stronger than the S&W Model 29, and it's variants. But unless you're handloading bona-fide Grizzly Killer cartridges, the strength issue won't matter with most any commercial ammo.

Easier too, to find a talented gunsmith to give the S&W a quality trigger job. The Ruger requires an external lockwork jig, and some well-practiced, specialized skill on the gunsmith's part.

248 To answer the question about Fauci and Paxlovid - Paxlovid has rebounds b/c folks don't flush the virus fully during the initial prescribed stage - but medicine doesn't want to prescribe more time length until they confirm the virus actually comes back. So you get rebounds. And 2nd scripts.

This is why I didn't bother getting Paxlovid (when I would have gotten an instant script), and relied on more natural and OTC antivirals b/c I had the timing control, not the docs, and I could wean myself off them slowly to make sure the virus was gone...

I am confused by this. I do not know if he said it was because Fauci was over vaccinated in combination with Paxlovid or the Paxlovid itself is causing this.

292 A lot of people still don't get how important it is to the Democrats to fill cable news airtime and newspaper column space.

Controlling the Narrative isn't just about determining what stories get reported on or how to report them. They realized because Trump was such a powerful narrative force himself (able to karate chop and twist and turn stories in his favor), that you can just generate a big overarching fake story which puts him on the auto defensive and it can be a go-to for YEARS.

They did it with Russia and I said right here that it was what they were doing. It took over the entire presidency right up through Mueller's dud testimony. It did its job. Then they almost immediately rolled out Ukraine Impeachment Theater and rolled that right into COOF. But they always had Russia to fall back on. That is the primary function of "January 6th" right now.

Posted by: Diogenes at June 29, 2022 10:33 PM (anj39)

I once lived in a zero lot line subdivision, so tiny lots. Fences were added to give a sense of privacy by the builders. And of course they had a mandatory HOA, which in a few cases I used to my benefit (but HOAs still suck major league dick, and they swallow too).

Anywho, my back fence was sagging into my teeny-tiny yard (rotten 4X4s) so I went to my back fence neighbor, told her about the problem, and that I needed temp access to her yard to swap out the posts and rehang the fence. She wanted to know what it would cost her, I said nothing, I just want to fix it.

Her relief was palpable, and her agreement was swift.

There are dozens of Democrats over the last few years that were caught lying under oath, and their punishment was nothing. Because of that it doesn't mean shit when a Democrat is under oath, they'll still lie all they want.

Until we see droves of democrats being awoken at 4AM by armed agents ready to take them in for lying, the term "under oath" is meaningless, along with the whole judicial system.

358 Cruises aren't really "traveling". Everything is done for you. You show up and that's all that's required.

In real traveling you work out language, currency, transportation, food and quarters. Sometimes its exhausting (especially after 15 hours in the air) but it is rewarding. You feel a sense of accomplishment and you're completely open to serendipitous experiences that make travel rewarding.

Cruises do everything for you. The tradeoff is, you see a predigested view if the places you visit, often with throngs of other tourists. Everything is according to an itinerary and the view you get of a destination is very superficial.

That said, shipboard life is often a hoot and the booze and entertainment flow like water.

359 Trial & crime news stories, i.e., Ghislaine Maxwell; R. Kelly; & all the others, almost never provide enough facts about what the defendant actually DID.

Crime/trial stories tend to dwell on what was charged; what the victims said in their impact statements; & what the def said at sentencing.

Tell me the details of the criminal conduct itself.

I think reporters skimp on that because it would require WORK to go back and put a coherent narrative story together.

Meh, to each their own. Cruises are not my thing. The only advantage is that you might get to go to a place you normally wouldn't that you find you'd like to go back to, minus being on a cruise ship. I didn't hate it. The kids had fun, and it was an experience. But I would never go on another one. I hate crowds and cruises are big floating crowds. Sitting by the pool or oceanside with 2,000 of your closest friends is not exactly relaxing. And I hated the pressure of making sure you cut your day short as to not miss the boat, literally. Again, to each their own.

Posted by: AmericanKestrel at June 30, 2022 12:53 AM (K0jo2)

Oh but you know it does matter. If the ruling comes down against gubmint agencies making their own "significant laws", then the power of unelected officials will be drastically reduced, and Congress will have to make these kind of rules themselves.
It could wind being their most significant ruling of the term, throwing Roe v Wade into the minor league pool. Maybe that is why they saved it for last.

I'm hoping for "good news". It's a biggie. It could affect things like "CO2 is a greenhouse gas and must be punished" kind of rules.

424 I think I have around 15 cruises under by belt. My inlaws used to plan some cruise every other year, get maybe 20 people in the group. I did that 7 or 8 times. Usually Royal Caribbean, but 2 were celebrity and one was princess. Royal caribbean was great. Then...I discovered the metal cruise. No Caribbean music, no lime in the fucking coconut music, no kids, no hoverounds. 60 metal bands on a huge ass royal caribbean ship, no suits at dinner, no frigging gay ass cruise director, or annoying photographers. Its drinking, music, and sailing on the black frigging pearl. I talked to the captain one time, and said this gotta be a handful. He comes right and says, this is my favorite cruise. No fights, nobody in the brig, no complainers, everybody has a good time, the crew volunteers for this, and we break all booze sale records. I believe him. The first year they did that cruise they got delayed leaving port on the first day. They drank the ship dry in 5 hours, before it ever saw the ocean, so they had to resupply and got delayed leaving the port. Cruise ship, 5-6 hours, drank it dry.

It was insane. Usually on a cruise ship you got a big crew. On the metal cruise it's a little more of a skeleton crew, so you don't have the full army of crew pampering your ass and picking up after you. The crew on the ship can barely keep up with the amount of empty beer cans. They just have barrels and garbage bags and they fill up fast and all the crew does is try..try to get it removed super fast. people are good though, they don't just leave shit laying around, they try to put their garbage in the nags and barrels, but sometimes they get full so fast you'll see little piles of cans in front of the barrels. Epic amount of booze flowing.

Re Comcast wanting to $27K to run 180' of underground line to a drop pedestal. When they quote something that high, it means "We don't want to bother doing it, but we will pretend to give you a estimate, which will be so high you can't do it."

That's all that. I've seen that with Charter (Spectrum). Me, to get Charter to Miley's new house, they had to come a lot more than 180' total. They came down from the road down about a couple of Mrs. Duke's poles in the field, then dropped down to underground on the dip pole, and fed a pedestal, from which the drop to the house was pulled.

Cost estimate for that was $4500, IIRC, a little less. They base that on spreading the cost out over so many years vs how much revenue they will make, with the risk of you cancelling or something. But, then they "spot" you $3K off that, and so I paid them $1400 and something.

Again, that was a lot longer than 180'.

Charter did a quote a ridiculous price to a neighbor of mine, his was about $10K, I think he said. It's complicated, but he lives on the same road as me, about a mile or so. Mrs. Duke's power line layout around here evolved in sort of ad hoc fashion. My power comes from one end, and his comes from the other. They meet in the middle on this road.

Now, Charter had only come so far down the road toward his house, but came from the other end well past the house here. So we were in there "service area". Our address, on paper, had their cable running by.

His didn't, because they terminated it on a pole maybe 600' or so from his house. His sister build a house right at that pole, but farther away from the road. They had to run a underground to a pedestal for her, but it came less than the $3K they spot, I think.

But for her brother, nope they quote $10K.

I also know that down here in S. IL, Charter has run dark fiber all along the Interstates and other major roads.

Funny thing is now Charter now has a run right by his house, but he's so mad at them, he still hasn't hooked up. They built a few new houses down a little side road right below him, and they wanted it, and they all chipped in somehow and got it done.

Another funny thing is my power now comes from a substation right behind his house a ways. Back in the 2000s, with all the damned subdivisions, load was getting too high, so Mrs. Duke had to do something. They ran a little medium class transmission line. Not a big big boy, just medium class and put a little substation in.

So, now my power comes out of there, goes back up the road, then turns, comes back down another road, and comes from the other end. They just tied in to the existing lines.

This year, however, they pulled another feed off that substation and had to upgrade the lines by his house. 6 total phases. That ran back toward Ft. Inn. More construction down that way.

I'm remembering. Before they put in that new substation, the voltage regulation out this way was getting a bit sloppy. At one point, they put a booster bank in on the 7200V coming out town feeding us. It was about 2 - 3 miles above me.

Anyway, I've got 208Y 3-phase in the shop, and I noticed during peak load times in the late afternoon, voltage on two phases would drop. One would be 118V, and the other would drop to as low as 115V. The other phase however would rise, hitting 123V or so. That was neutral drop afoot there, that phase was not as loaded. And that's piss poor phase regulation. That was getting bad enough to have to do something.

All that disappeared after they got the new substation in. Voltage holds at about 122V all day long, all three phases.
