Florida Gay Kindergarten Teacher: This Law Impacts My Ability To Talk About My Sex Life With Five Year Olds

Often the claim is made that it's just terrible that a gay teacher can't talk about his gay husband with kids-- as if kids' education would be incomplete without knowing that sometimes a man loves another man very very much... This guy isn't even making that claim -- he just wants to talk about his "partner." His boyfriend, that means. So kindergartners need to know all about who you're Gay Going Steady With? When he says he will leave it up to the "discretion" of his five year old students' to decide if he will talk about his Gay Boyfriend: That is how teachers have been evading these limitations for a while -- by blaming the kids. I've seen Libs of TikTok videos where a lesbian teacher created an in-class activity in which her very young students were told to pretend they were "detectives" and to search for "clues" about her. Every clue was about her being a lesbian. At the end of this "detective" exercise, they asked her, "Are you a lesbian?" And of course this gave her the pretext to discuss her homosexuality with them. Which was of course the entire point of her "activity:" She was creating a situation in which they would be told by "clues" that she was a lesbian, and then they'd ask her about it. So she could then tell her bosses: I didn't bring it up. They asked me about it. That teacher didn't say the "detective" game was designed to evade a ban on discussing homosexuality with very young students, but a later Libs of TikTok video featured a different teacher explaining the same basic trickery -- creating circumstances to prod students into asking about homosexuality, so that she could then say "They asked me." That teacher did confirm the entire point of the game was to get students to ask her about being gay, to circumvent the school's ban on teachers introducing the topic of sexuality to students. In kindergarten one of my son's good friends had two mommies. Hubby and I decided that the best way to teach him that there are same-sex parents was to *not* make a big deal about it (if you want people to think it's normal then you don;t constantly point to is and say "That's normal -- see that? Let's stop and single it out just to reinforce how TOTALLY NORMAL and not strange that is!)

I believe kids need positive, strong male role models in their lives. I also know that a lot of kids don't have one at home. I spent about 15 years of my adult life considering teaching kindergarten, first, or second grades so I could be that influence.

Yes, I will walk back my initial broad comment that I didn't know anything about my teachers' personal lives. A teacher 'may' have someone from administration sit in their class an hour a year... if even that. No one monitors, or knows, what the hell that teacher is putting out... or how they are treating the kids, UNLESS someone complains.

Exactly. And this too seems to have popped up basically overnight. At least from my perspective. It hasn't been all that long since Jr. Black graduated high school ('15). There was never any of this garbage to deal with when he was in public school. While those we see on social media, the ones saying they're coming for your children, the ones who are frothing at the mouth because there are actually parents who don't want this stuff jammed down their kids' throats, are a loud minority, I do believe their numbers -- and their brazenness -- are growing. And it has nothing to do with "being accepted" for who they are. It has to do with conditioning America's kids.

Progressives have been teaching most of the nation's children for decades. So we have a couple of generations with little self-control or sense of self-sacrifice for a common or personal good. Today's teachers are from these wasted generations. Ugh.

In elementary school, we never knew about any teacher's spouse or partner. We assumed the women teachers called "Mrs." Whatever were married, and the ones called "Miss" were not married, but we never asked and they never volunteered any information about their personal lives.
In junior high and high school we knew a little more about some of the teachers and there were a few that we suspected were gay, but we knew better than to ask them any personal questions. Their personal lives were none of our business.
It was much better that way. This current atmosphere of over-sharing every detail of one's personal life with everybody one encounters is creepy. There is no good reason for any teacher, especially one who teaches very young kids, to be discussing intimate details of the teacher's personal life with the kids. It's inappropriate and weird and it's inviting trouble.
