Biden Considering Easing Sanctions on Venezuela To Get More of Their Oil;
No Plans to Ease Sanctions on US Oil Industry

Natasha Bertrand

@NatashaBertrand

Confirming NYT: Biden admin is weighing easing sanctions on Venezuela so that it can begin producing more oil & selling it on the international market. Move would be aimed at reducing global dependence on Russian oil & isolating Russia from one of its key allies in South America.

He's also going begging to Saudi Arabia -- again.

And Saudi Arabia isn't having it.

Because the left, in another Get Trump operation, attempted to make Saudi Arabia a "paraiah" over the claimed assassination of Qatar spy Jamal Khashoggi.

President Biden's advisers are discussing a possible visit to Saudi Arabia this spring to help repair relations and convince the Kingdom to pump more oil, Axios has learned.

Why it matters: A hat-in-hand trip would illustrate the gravity of the global energy crisis driven by Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Biden has chastised Saudi Arabia, and the CIA believes its de facto leader, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, was involved in the dismemberment of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi.

The possibility also shows how Russia's invasion is scrambling world's alliances, forcing the U.S. to reorder its priorities -- and potentially recalibrating its emphasis on human rights.

Biden officials are in Venezuela this weekend to meet with the government of President Nicolás Maduro. Some Republicans and Democrats in Washington suggest Venezuela's oil could replace Russia's, according to the New York Times.
Any visit to the Persian Gulf would come amid a busy presidential travel schedule during the next few months.

Biden will likely take trips to Japan, Spain, Germany and, potentially, Israel, Axios has also learned.

What they're saying: A White House spokesperson told Axios: "We don't have any international travel to announce at this time, and a lot of this is premature speculation."

Zoom out: President Obama visited Saudi Arabia more often than any of his predecessors, a total of four trips, but relations frayed over the wars in Yemen and Syria, as well as differences about how to deal with Iran.

President Trump made restoring the relationship a priority, and boasted about arms sales to the Kingdom.

He questioned the CIA's conclusion bin Salman was involved in Khashoggi's murder and defiantly refused to condemn him. "Maybe he did and maybe he didn't!" Trump wrote on Twitter.

During the 2020 campaign, Biden called the Kingdom a "pariah," and early in his term, released an unclassified report assessing MBS approved the operation to "capture or kill" Khashoggi.

Zoom in: Bin Salman isn't making it easier on Biden to repair their relations.

He appeared to go out of his way to aggravate the White House during an interview with the Atlantic published last week.

"We don't have the right to lecture you in America," he said. "The same goes the other way."

Lot of world leaders the Smart People who Really Care About Peace and International Order have made enemies of in order to bring down Trump, eh?

Public officials, corporate officers, and celebrities who were happily grifting for their own interests were commandeered, I suspect, through blackmail. Search the site and see the known crooked actors are absent from their database. This is a very important point. If Full Diaper Joe wants Venezuela to pump oil, Venezuela will most likely grin and say, "Sure, just force your oil people to come down and fix our infrastructure, and we'll pump you some oil."

Then Venezuela will steal the infrastructure AGAIN and put their lackeys in charge of the oil production AGAIN and the oil industry in Venezuela will crash AGAIN.

175 Wilmington, N.C. -- A federal judge Friday blocked an effort to keep U.S. Rep. Madison Cawthorn off North Carolina ballot this year, saying the state's election board can't proceed with an inquiry that would have delved his role leading up to the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Chief District Court Judge Richard Myers said he couldn't allow the challenge, filed by attorneys looking to label the first-term Republican as an insurrectionist who should be legally barred from the ballot, to move forward. The courts, Myers said, must protect the soapbox, the ballot box and the jury box.

"When those fail, that's when people proceed to the ammunition box," said Myers, who was appointed by former President Donald Trump.

263 Vz crude has to be refined before they even sell it as "crude". It's extremely heavy stuff.
Posted by: sniffybigtoe

The problem with heavy crude it that is has to go through a "cracker" to make it refinable. Essentially, the heavy crude is heated up and (sometimes) hydrogen is injected (hydrogen for this process comes from methane), to catalytically make a more refinable fluid; hydrogenating the heavy crude. Other hydrogen rich compounds are also sometimes used. This is standard refinery technology, but not every refinery is equipped with a catalytic cracker to do this.

So I suspect that it was BS. The gas station owners may not want to anger their commiecrat customers by leaving painful truth stickers in place.

But the clip did not cite what state or federal law would make it illegal for them to just leave the stickers in place so long as the stickers were not obscuring the price or octane etc information. 399 2 Timothy 3:1-7
But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!
For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
Now as Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, disapproved concerning the faith; but they will progress no further, for their folly will be manifest to all, as theirs also was.

That was part of a line of comments in the thread below regarding the Bill Cosby case.

SCOTUS just announced that it will not review the decision of the Pa. Supreme Court to throw out Cosby's criminal conviction. As you may recall, the conviction was tossed because prosecutors violated Cosby's constitutional rights. They had promised not to prosecute Cosby criminally for the alleged assault, so that he would not be able to refuse to testify in Andrea Costand's civil lawsuit. Relying on the promise, Cosby then testified in the civil suit, the suit was settled, and then prosecutors reneged on their promise and prosecuted Cosby criminally, using his civil lawsuit testimony against him. IOW, the state compelled Cosby to give testimony against himself in a criminal proceeding, in violation of his 5th Amendment rights.

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court threw out the conviction, and now the SCOTUS has declined to review that opinion.

For decades, refineries were optimized to run more and more cheap VZ crude (it was much cheaper than the price you see on the news for WTI), then VZ production collapsed (socialists) and the fracking/shale revolution happened. So refineries moved to accommodate the lighter stuff. They won't be able to turn on a dime back to VZ crude.

But you have carefully followed my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, perseverance, persecutions, afflictions, which happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra - what persecutions I endured. And out of them all the Lord delivered me.
Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.
But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

brainwashing kinda works on certain people. I'm not sure why, but people get sucked into narrative and they tend to stop thinking critically.

I actually knew an educated person who bought the whole "fire doesn't melt steel" thing about the WTC. And it was the work of a couple of days to deprogram her. She simply couldn't process the fire triangle and the role of oxygen. Had to show her a video about blacksmithing. It was weird.

Posted by: BourbonChicken at March 07, 2022 01:43 PM (44ww/)

I don't believe polls, but there's an obvious reason those numbers are believable. There are a whole lot of people who think it's "unpatriotic" to say anything negative about US leadership whenever we're involved in an international conflict, even if they don't like that leadership. That's why administration after administration runs the "wag the dog" scenario, it works. But it's always a short term effect, like a hit off the crack pipe, and it almost always creates more long term problems for an admin than it would have had otherwise.

497 I note that that article about Jamal Khashoggi does not mention the stupidity of the the Biden clown show when they withdrew the terrorist designation from the Houthi "rebels" in Yemen and Intelligence and weapons support. The Houthi's then proceeded to conduct ballistic missile and drone attacks on Saudi cities and oil production facilities. Now drooling Joe is going to go beg them to produce more oil while at the same time he is going to enable the Saudi's mortal enemy Iran to get nukes. Yeah somehow I suspect the Saudi's will not be doing anything little stupid joey wants.

You're giving Joe Stolen too much credit. He has always been a mean-spirited man as long as he has been in politics. I'm sure he has internalized his rejections when he ran for POTUS the previous two times.

He knows he didn't win the election legitimately. He knows the only reason he's sitting in the Oval Office is because he's agreed with his handlers to go Communist. He's always been a bully, so it's time to punish America for his previous humiliations.

502 It is well established that US was not only energy independent in 2019 but was also exporting oil and gas. Dems and MSM (I repeat myself) blamed increased demand for higher prices - before Russian war. Has anyone seen stats (know where they can be accessed) for US oil and natural gas production in 2019 vs 2021/22? If production decreased, it is really unarguable that the Brandon Administration caused it.
