If the war in Ukraine ends soon oil should fall back to 90-100 over the next couple months, with a corresponding drop in gas prices. I'd argue that since most Russian oil will ultimately make it to market the recent price surge is overblown.

The problem with heavy crude it that is has to go through a "cracker" to make it refinable. Essentially, the heavy crude is heated up and (sometimes) hydrogen is injected (hydrogen for this process comes from methane), to catalytically make a more refinable fluid; hydrogenating the heavy crude. Other hydrogen rich compounds are also sometimes used. This is standard refinery technology, but not every refinery is equipped with a catalytic cracker to do this.

If the war in Ukraine ends soon oil should fall back to 90-100 over the next couple months, with a corresponding drop in gas prices. I'd argue that since most Russian oil will ultimately make it to market the recent price surge is overblown.

Somebody wrote it on the pumps at my local station with permanent marker. They tried scrubbing it off but just took off the top layer.
Sadly, they just took down the pumps to replace the underground tanks. It was the only enjoyable part of getting gas these days.

It may be that the reason gas stations are removing the stickers is that the oil companies that own or franchise the stations put in the contract that no advertising or notices can be put on the pumps without the company's permission. SCOTUS just announced that it will not review the decision of the Pa. Supreme Court to throw out Cosby's criminal conviction. As you may recall, the conviction was tossed because prosecutors violated Cosby's constitutional rights. They had promised not to prosecute Cosby criminally for the alleged assault, so that he would not be able to refuse to testify in Andrea Costand's civil lawsuit. Relying on the promise, Cosby then testified in the civil suit, the suit was settled, and then prosecutors reneged on their promise and prosecuted Cosby criminally, using his civil lawsuit testimony against him. IOW, the state compelled Cosby to give testimony against himself in a criminal proceeding, in violation of his 5th Amendment rights.
The Pennsylvania Supreme Court threw out the conviction, and now the SCOTUS has declined to review that opinion.

For decades, refineries were optimized to run more and more cheap VZ crude (it was much cheaper than the price you see on the news for WTI), then VZ production collapsed (socialists) and the fracking/shale revolution happened. So refineries moved to accommodate the lighter stuff. They won't be able to turn on a dime back to VZ crude.

I actually knew an educated person who bought the whole "fire doesn't melt steel" thing about the WTC. And it was the work of a couple of days to deprogram her. She simply couldn't process the fire triangle and the role of oxygen. Had to show her a video about blacksmithing. It was weird.

I don't believe polls, but there's an obvious reason those numbers are believable. There are a whole lot of people who think it's "unpatriotic" to say anything negative about US leadership whenever we're involved in an international conflict, even if they don't like that leadership. That's why administration after administration runs the "wag the dog" scenario, it works. But it's always a short term effect, like a hit off the crack pipe, and it almost always creates more long term problems for an admin than it would have had otherwise.
