The Saturday Night Joke

An atheist was taking a walk through the woods. "What majestic trees! What powerful rivers! What beautiful animals,” he said to himself. As he continued walking alongside the river he heard a rustling in the bushes. Turning to look, he saw a 7 foot Bear charging towards him.

He ran as fast as he could up the path. Looking over his shoulder he saw that the bear was closing in on him. His heart was pumping frantically and he tried to run even faster. He tripped and fell on the ground. He rolled over to pick himself up, but saw the bear raising his paw to take a swipe at him. At that instant the atheist cried out, "Oh my God!"

Time stopped. The bear froze. The forest was silent.

It was then that a bright light shone upon the man and a voice from heaven asked, "You deny my existence for all of these years, teach others I don't exist and even credit creation to a cosmic accident. Do you expect me to help you out of this predicament? Am I to count you as a believer?"

The atheist looked directly into the light. "It would be hypocritical of me to suddenly ask you to treat me as a Christian now, but perhaps, could you make the BEAR a Christian?"

“Very well,” said the Voice. The light went out, and the sounds of the forest resumed.

And then the bear lowered his paw, bowed his head and spoke: "Lord, bless this food which I am about to receive and for which I am truly thankful, Amen." (H/T Legally Sufficient)

Producing an ONT 5 nights a week is an interesting hobby. It's also interesting and informative.THE UNDERGROUND WORLD OF BOWLING LEAGUE GAMBLING - You might be borrowing shoes, but if you’re playing the game right, you’re also taking home cash

When Connor joined a bowling league last year, he didn’t realize that also meant he would soon become a gambling man. But for the 33-year-old Chicagoan, walking into Diversey River Bowl that first time was like walking into a casino full of guys drinking in their socks.

What is a Saturday ONT without a penis story. Hey, it's not Ukraine.

An Iranian man was left unable to urinate and in need of skin graft surgery after getting an AA battery lodged in his penis.

The 49-year-old patient, who has not been named, went to hospital in Tehran in April 2021, where he told doctors the object had been stuck for 24 hours.

Medics were able to prise the battery out without surgery and discharge the man on the same day — but he was forced to return months later in pain.

And here I go squeamish when I see the catheter commercials on late night TV.

If I were drive a big unheated yellow tube, you are damn straight I wouldn't be passing any tox screen.

Washington state regulators found more than 600 safety and procedural violations by school bus carrier First Student in the past two years, dozens of which persisted for years after company officials were warned of the infractions.

The company repeatedly failed to screen drivers for drugs and alcohol, cleared employees to drive before they’d even completed an application for employment or a history of their driving records, provided false information on driver records and allowed some vehicles to continue running even when seats weren’t securely attached, according to a complaint from the state’s Utilities and Transportation Commission.

First Student, which provides daily school bus and charter service in Seattle, Tacoma, Vashon Island and several other school districts in Washington state, could pay up to the maximum fine of $364,000, depending on the outcome of a hearing next month.

Oh lighten up it's a joke, I would have zipped tied and used duct tape on those little bastards while I was sober.

What a catch!

To be honest, I’d had better evenings.

Two hours of stilted conversation over rubbery haddock in lukewarm, milky fish juice at a seafood restaurant somewhere on the Kent coast was, frankly, two hours too much.

My date’s rehearsed soundbites about his job in dental sales made me want to stick a fork in my eye and the frequent awkward silences came as a blessed relief.

As he regaled me with another story about shifting two hundred oral suction pumps to a hygienist in Jaywick, I determined to never swipe right again for a man whose eyebrows join in the middle.

Just a simple observation. If educators teachers are so damn smart why do we hear about this on a regular basis? An Ohio teacher was removed from the classroom after her alleged sex tape was sent to hundreds of students.

The incident reportedly occurred Feb. 7 at Ginn Academy, an all-boys public school located in east Cleveland. According to local outlets, the explicit video was originally stored on the teacher’s mobile device and AirDropped to more than 200 students with iPhones. According to FOX 8 News, the teacher claimed she had heard rumors of a circulating sex tape featuring her and her boyfriend; however, she told police she doesn’t know how the video was released. Authorities also noted that there were four to five videos that were sent on Feb. 7, but only one of them is believed to contain sexual content.

“If somebody were to have access to an unattended phone, its fairly easy to capture someone’s passcode,” Alex Hamerstone of TrustedSec Cyber Security told WKYC. “If someone has bad intentions, the first thing they’ll do when they get access to your phone is look through your pictures, look to see if you have a private folder and see what’s in there, or look at text messages and try to find something inappropriate.”

Pretty difficult to do with payphones and mimeograph machines. Get off my lawn.

Battery Victim Initially Thought His Girlfriend Was "Being Rough Like '50 Shades Of Grey'"

A Florida Man told police that he thought his girlfriend was “being rough like ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’” when she began to slap him yesterday, but he eventually fled the couple’s apartment when the woman became more aggressive and left him “seeing stars” with a bump on his head, according to an arrest report.

Cops say after Nicole Onque, 21, and the 40-year-old victim returned to their Largo home early Monday morning after attending a festival, the pair argued when Onque was unable to locate her phone.

Though she would eventually find the device, Onque “was still upset.” The victim “attempted to sit at his desk and ignore the defendant,” an officer noted.

He once riffed/adlibbed on "Mork and Mindy" that seeking sympathy was an "old Jewish trick" - the director left it in and it was aired on national TV.

The school systems are not on the hook for maintenance, capital costs, and the drivers are contract employees of the bus company. Usually big school systems hire out, as part of their graft.

The smaller schools systems want more control, so they have in-house bus systems.

There are exceptions, like Fairfax County, Virginia, which employs 1,400 school bus drivers. .

217 Here is a real sanctions-on-Russia effect:
The Russians are suspending their launch of satellites from French Guiana. Russian space companies will be hurt by the loss of hard money for use of their rockets. The Europeans will be hurt for a time, from not being able to use Soyuz boosters to launch European satellites. It will be interesting to see how long certain sanctions are in-effect.

First graf:
Blaming European sanctions enacted after Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the Russian space agency said Saturday it is recalling dozens of engineers and technicians from French Guiana and suspending Soyuz rocket operations there, grounding a pair of European navigation satellites previously set for launch in early April.

246 I remember there was this story years back about this woman teacher where the boys found out she was in pr0n when she was young. I don't remember all the details but the pertinent ones were, she was out of it, didn't want anything to do with it, and put it in her past. She got into church, found a good man and got married. She was honest with the people in her life but of course didn't put adult-ent work on her elementary school resume. But of course someone recognized her face the boys past around videos and the parents went crazy.

Now, this could be a lesson that if you do bad stuff it comes back to haunt you, sure. But those sort of lessons aren't much help to people that have already fucked up. They're more like a kick in the head. She had a good teaching record but I think she was axed.

There are so many ways to screw up now. And then I hear about teachers perving around on the job and I think about that girl that was fired and it kind of pisses me off. With onlyfans and the like this is going to be more of a problem. They shouldn't get into it, yeah, but someday they'll need a way out and forgiveness. I can't see how that will all work out.

He actually suffered from Lui Body Dementia at the end - it's basically what you are seeing from Punchy right now - periods of lucidity juxtaposed against periods of dementia - its irreversible - when Williams was given that final diagnosis, he took his life. Punchy is beyond where William is, I think. He can't make that decision that Williams made because he no longer can relate between what is real and the world that he thinks he's living in - in short, the man is gone. Everyone around him understands that and is basically playing along - but in the end, Punchy will punch out of life - sooner rather than later.

330 311 For the uninitiated, at the Univ. of Dayton, there is a dorm - Marycrest - smack next to a Catholic cemetery with a lovely statue of the Virgin Mary in the middle of it. She is largely unmolested, except for football weekends when She is draped with a UD sash or a 'Flyers' banner.

"The Ghetto" was two streets full of cheap, God forsaken houses, owned by the university that were rented to students. A shithole's shithole. Real dumps. Firetraps. No doors on some of them. They were recently demolished and replace with expensive housing.

No, I'm a terrible leader. Every time I've ended up in a leadership position, my management style has been inspiration through pity and guilt: "Please, please, just do what you're supposed to do and don't fuck this up, because I'm going to be the one who gets it in the neck if you do, and I just want to go home and eat ice cream sandwiches".

It's not a paintball game or anything, it's just a meet-up. You could park yourself off somewhere (with dogs and/or a cat, if it's Texas) and not say anything and people would occasionally drift over and say hi and wander off before it got awkward. Really.

350 I am more and more bothered by the media. I was around solid people tonight that I know are reasonable, and I could tell from the few comments made on Ukraine that their knowledge was gained from media. It bothers me that even trying to shake that media sponsored preconception marks you as a blowhard or an extremist and you would have to give them an unsolicited history course for them to even consider viewing it differently from the media. And you can sense, like anything to do with Covid, its somewhat socially inept and awkward to even question the Narrative in polite company. And once again, these were not modernists or leftists, just not people who delve into alternative media. If this country is ever to change, the monolithic control of media has to be broken.

Not me. I'm a follower.

I was a leader for a long time, 30+ years. And I always wound up lost.

That's a super great thing about faith in the Lord. I don't have to lead at all anymore, He does. Nor do I have to search for meaning, question my purpose, or any of that stuff that kept me constantly frustrated and angry and depressed. The Lord just kept laying new things in front of me.

It started by cleaning gutters at the church, then doing some fix it stuff, cooking church meals, then running AV, then doing the church books. Hell, within 5 years the preacher made me fill in for him one Sunday. And I don't know shit from Shinola.

But I just do whatever gets laid in front of me. It's such comfort to do something meaningful in what appears to be a meaningless world.

Posted by: NaCly Dog (u82oZ) at February 26, 2022 11:18 PM (u82oZ)

Good evening, sir. Yes, the Russians can bring down ISS if they choose. The main Russian module, Zvezda (star) has the only propulsion system on the entire ISS. US supply craft (like Musk's Dragons) can fire their maneuvering jets to boost the ISS's orbit a little while docked, if they have enough extra fuel. Zvezda can be fully controlled from the Russian Mission Control; NASA cannot control it. Russia has had NASA, ESA, and the Japanese over a barrel from the start, since the US and ESA decided to NOT build a propulsion module they control, relying solely on the Russians for this critical function. (that's a short version of the story)

Musk and anyone else can build modules to attach to either the US or Russian portions of the ISS, since both portions are outfitted with the same type of docking mechanisms.

NOTE: Russian ISS activities have been excluded from the sanctions, so far.

389 Some really weird and novel stuff out of this war, thanks to "technology", primarily the now universal presence of mobile phones with amazing photographic capability and the ability to post things to the web. AND thanks to a somewhat puzzling situation in which neither side appears to be making any attempt to limit or stop this real-time intel being generated.

"Geolocation", or using known visual cues and landmarks to ID the exact location of images, is going hogwild. A Russian armored column passes a gas station between Melitopol and Berdyansk. Image posted to the web. Within minutes, geolocation IDs the exact spot based on a side building at the gas station (this happened in the last hour).

And some very weird stuff going on. A Siberian paramilitary riot police unit was mobilized and sent to Belarus. Oddly, they were told their duties would NOT be related to occupation/securing LOCs, only thing they were suitable for. On day two of the war, they drove all the way to Kiev, and when attempting to enter the city, were ambushed, many captured. WTFFF?

The "mobile crematorium" thing was what flipped the switch in my mind. Utter and complete laughable bullshit. Pentagon people pushing that with a straight face, and the media lapping it up.

Then, I was just looking at the ton of amateur level fake photos and videos being put out.

You know that "ghost of Kiev" fighter pilot? Most likely total propaganda bullshit. Cryin' Adam Kinzinger tweeted some supposed photo of this pilot. It was from a video game.

Photos "brave Ukrainian soldier kissing his teary wife as he leaves for the fight." That came from a movie. Photos and video of supposed fierce fighting in the streets. Old photos and videos from years ago.

NASA does not have money or authorization today to build an orbit maneuver and re-boost module. Congress and the Prez can change that anytime they want. The US intends to build a de-orbit propulsion module and attach it in time for the now-planned 2031 end of ISS. ISS will be targeted to impact
in the middle of the Pacific. Work on that module won't start for anoth 4 or 5 years. Some of the Russian (maybe) and US, ESA, Japanese, and commercial modules may separate and go to a new ISS in 2030. The plans for that are all pretty fuzzy right now.

Linear dimensions in Imperial and Metric have a hard, exact, two decimal-place conversion factor (1 inch = 25.4 millimeters) so the construction of hardware by Americans and Russians to fit together is not terribly hard. Tolerances are the fly in the ointment, but with proper attention to those details, everything can properly fit together.

435 War that counts is the war. Objectives secured, Russia can live with the (temporary) sanctions and PR. If Putin has trouble at home, it isn't because of the PR problem.

And as is fundamental to understand, Russia's in a tough spot and it has nothing to do with Putin per se. No plausible Russian leadership is going to go along with Ukraine's full (de facto, or formal) military integration with NATO. That's what this is about.

If this desperate and fairly radical solution fails, the problem only gets worse for Moscow, not better. Which is why regardless of whether Russian forces achieve the objectives western observers have set for them (as none of these people or us know the actual plan) or not, Russia's not saying "aw, shucks" and walking away. Putin or successor.

The US and Euro governments, who control most of the world's ability to create propaganda have fairly openly decided to help Ukraine so...I expect that there will be plenty of propaganda in favor of the Ukes.

But I do wonder if it is going further then that - is there perhaps an effort to completely sanitize the news available in western sources?

I expect fog of war...but the amount of info released to the public is almost nothing. And the US government knows, right now, exactly where the main Russian and Uke forces are and what direction the fighting is going in.

Being pressed inexorably on both fronts while not having any means of stopping the constant bombing and knowing no negotiated settlement was possible. A wild gamble that probably wouldn't work was about the best bad choice to make. 464 My vague impression is that the better outcome was a sort of USA/India/Russia alliance, against China/Pakistan/Iran ... West versus East (with India joining East, as they largely have)

not sure how, but it seems globalists have some other plan to Build Back Better that destroys all nation states, and they rule from on high (as they do in the EU).

But as I said ... VAGUE impression.

Had an opportunity to go to Baikanour with a launch team, but it was shot down by the Russians who said they could not vouch for the safety of any females at the site. Crazy. From all I've heard, I didn't miss much, but it would have been cool, regardless.

498 Not at all sure that Kiev should have fallen by now, or of any other benchmark set through sheer speculation. That the Russians initially committed only a portion of their forces postured for the operation could indicate that a non-instant success was expected.

Outside the intel sector the only reliable evidence is some imagery, properly understood and clearly legit. Such as the photo I mentioned above, of a Russian column in the south, moving north of Melitopol. That tells us they're at least that far - actually other video soon indicated that they (or some Russian units) were as far as Zaporozhe, even further north.

The Uke govt. have actually been putting out fairly reasonable press statements in their "intelligence updates) - not clearly nuts, or wishcasting, and mostly corresponding to all other available info (the English, and the non-ridiculous nature of these, makes me think they've got an American vetting at least the English versions).

The scanty MOD briefings in Moscow are short on info and packed with dubious claims and eye-rolling accusations.

536 There are Chechens on both sides, mostly on the Russian side, and yes there are (obviously) Chechens who are not anti-Russian rebels. Some small number of Chechens on Uke side (including one group that makes a career of fighting the Russians, last seen in Crimea in 2014).

Putin is not going on any blitzkrieg across Europe. Or touching a NATO country. There's a very real and boring and Russian reason this war is happening, and it's such a secret that Moscow has been asking, then screaming, about it going back 15 years. Most recently (and this was clearly their last attempt), at face-face talks with the US in Geneva that started last year.

Ukraine's military future, specifically its growing capability and integration with NATO, formal or otherwise.

Of course Putin fogs up his statements about this issue ("a knife at our throat") with all kinds of nonsense about the Uke regime, and "denazification", which are not the point at all. And in colliding paradoxes, Russia must invade Ukraine to try to keep it neutral, while NATO reacts with aid that validates Russia's foundational fears.

Apparently the Russians are still running T-72s - which, you might expect indicates a tank design from the 70s.

They have newer ones as well, but I guess their plan is to use the older ones until someone destroys them? A very Russian take on things I guess...

545 "Putin is not going on any blitzkrieg across Europe. Or touching a NATO country. There's a very real and boring and Russian reason this war is happening, and it's such a secret that Moscow has been asking, then screaming, about it going back 15 years. "

true, and thanks for your informed input. I'm just saying it seems like he may have poked the lazy ass "bear" of Europe, by killing civilians, going further than needed, and maybe even his own people are not in support.

A strong financial "counter-offensive" against Russia may be more devastating than Putin had considered. Not to mention the (possible) stronger resistance than he expected, and maybe Russian troops are not as perfect as some of the portrayals.

The modern equivalent to those people would be your average corporate management person or mid level government worker. They have it ok and don't want the boat rocked. 557 Tammy, embrace the power of "and".

Like you I laugh when I consider that Moscow might consider NATO some sort of offensive threat - for both military and political reasons (i.e. most of NATO has disarmed and none of it has the will to do almost anything).

But that's why we're not paid to give the speech at the annual victory parade on May 8 in Red Square, and Putin is. Summarizing brutally, Russia has a non-trivial and non-insane heightened sensitivity to invasion, induced by history, so taking no chances is SOP.

They can and have lived with the Baltics and Poland in NATO. Bulgaria, Romania, not that big a deal. Macedonia, and Albania ..... I assume they laughed and shook their heads. But Ukraine. It's a cumulative thing, with NATO expansion since '91, but Ukraine is uniquely sensitive for them for many reasons. From Moscow's perspective, it is not necessarily irrational to regard Ukraine's remaining a lightly armed non-allied state as a vital interest. "Knife at our throat".

But.

Regardless, if you're prudent, and Russian, it's not so simple.

Unfortunately several US administrations and years of feckless European NATO leadership has never taken the Russians seriously on this. This war is absolutely and directly the outcome of lazy, arrogant, unserious handling of the Ukraine matter. Not excusing or blessing Russia's actions - but pretending that today's actions are frivolous or wacko or incomprehensible is stupid, and indefensible.

We've pursued regime change in Afghanistan (clear cause), Iraq (dubious cause), and Libya (YOLO!) since Putin first took office. It's clear to anyone willing to look that DC thinks it's in charge of the world, and the WEF crowd, which DC is in bed with, is looking to make that real. And DC jointly with Beijing launched a bilogical weapon that affected everyone, including Russia.

And they've been working their way across Europe through alliance and overthrow right up to their doorstep. Putin had to put down a DC backed coup in Kazakhstan around a month ago. So he's got plenty of reason to distrust the intentions of DC and its partners.

594 Russian units entering Kharkov (I use the Russian spellings cuz a far more interesting war is how I got to know these names, so there). Which is new.

Like everyone else not privy to actual Russian plans or comms, I have no idea what their strategery is, but given the politix and their likely objective (regime and policy change, not conquest), avoiding urban areas has seemed like a good idea. Plus, they don't have the massive numbers to do everything.

So it *seemed* the Ukes were resisting around Kharkov, keeping the russkis out, based on imagery and Uke official statements. But who knows. Well now there's imagery of units moving through parts of the city.

The column takes fire from the building where the videographer is. He (she/it/they/xer/xim) ducks down a bit when the outbound fire happens. !!!!! Jeebus, the scenes one is seeing from over there. 631 The funny thing is, I don't think that Sean has any curiosity whatsoever about the Biden's corruption in the Ukraine. Sean's documentary will surely castigate Putin as the bad guy, he is a bad guy, but will make no mention of the fact that Ukraine has been an international currency laundromat for many people in government in many countries but especially the Biden family.

These guys have spent the past 40 years watching wars on TV where casualties are very low. AND it has almost always been a ratings and political boon for them (positive or negative.) They see it as no more dangerous or impactful than drinking too much in Vegas.

If you look to the Left as you drive into Yosemite Valley, you will see Power lines up on the cliffs, hanging over the precipice.

646 Yeah catheters are scary but they're flexible and made in different sizes so you get a painless fit.

It just feels weird.

But when it's the weekend and Mr. Happy hasn't been for quite a while and suddenly he runs dry (Oh there's still fluid waiting to leave but things are blocked) you'll find how quickly you can master the mechanics of inserting a catheter for drainage.

Needs must.

Very true.... I once went up a 75 ft tall mast, on a ship in a storm, to save a 40 ft wide radar antenna.. It was heavy enough to where we would have had REAL problems if it had fallen (like, heavy enough to damage the hull).

Now? I don't even like to go up on my roof... LOL.

651 First time I went skydiving, once my chute opened and I was nearly suspended from the sky, silently, I looked down and had no freaking idea how high up I was. I mean, I could figure out that having jumped at 3,000 ft and since my chute had deployed (properly, thankfully), I was probably below 2,900 but as I got closer, I still couldn't "eyeball" it. The reason is, I'd *never* had a view like that and so my brain couldn't make distance-wise sense of how high up I was. Just before you land, you're supposed to "flare" your chute - pull down on the risers IIRC. Prior jumpers said it seemed like they were being told to flare too late. So, naturally, I decided to flare when it seemed like I was at 15 feet. Nope, I was at 30. Came straight down and sprained my ankle. Great story to tell the next week at school. Hey, how'd you sprain your ankle? Skydiving. ;->
