101 Yes, it seems a small razor. But safety razors do not have to be huge to be effective. I have a 1953 Gillette with the "butterfly" doors and a handle that seems to be made for a young boy's hand. But it shaves very well. Gillette really got it right with their safety razors from the WWI era until they shifted over to the cartridge, multi-blade horrors in the 1970s.

104 No Biden reboot coming from president who thinks he's 'outperformed'

Joe Biden is not about to pivot. No siree, no reboot for this president's White House. Biden is not interested in making any course corrections because, after all, he has, by his own modest estimation, "outperformed what anybody thought would happen." Further, the president is convinced "we have made enormous progress" and everything is "getting better." That's what he told the country during his recent press conference, which was an eye-opener. Turns out Joe Biden is either seriously delusional or utterly sequestered and misled by his team.

111 105 Joe Biden is not about to pivot.

Yes, it's more ham-like because it's Canadian bacon, but if you cure it yourself, you can get a lot more flavor into. This one is loaded with black pepper and garlic. I'd recommend giving it a try if you have the fridge space.

I'm right-handed, and so I usually start on my right cheek. Bear in mind that I wear a "Commander Riker"-style beard, so I shave down each cheek to that line; I do a pass on my lower lip; and then, for some reason, I start my throat shave on the *left* side of my neck. Possibly because there is more light in my bathroom on that side. I shave North to South half way down, come up South to North on the lower half of the throat. Both of these passes are "with the grain" of my beard because of the way it grows. Then, on pass 2, I go against the grain of my beard, starting on the right side.

Rinse off the soap, hit the skin with some aftershave and cream lotion, top it with some Clubman powder, and I'm done for 24 to 48 hours.

If he used a Gillette safety razor in this self-portrait, then, it must be a model of that year or earlier -- none of the adjustables that came later. I'm guessing it's a model like my '53 Super Speed. Though of course he could have been wielding something from the '40s or earlier.

=========

That's, maybe, if the people support the cause.

No one cares about the Ukraine, and inflation is a much larger concern. Also, the modern military does not have the intestinal fortitude to actually fight to win, so Biden, if he were to get us into a shooting match with either China or Russia, would be begging for another quagmire with no victory even defined.

This wouldn't be Japan bombing Pearl Harbor. It would be Japan attacking China and then FDR mobilizing America for war on that.

366 @223 Wolfus Aurelius-I spent a small fortune in different electric razors trying to switch over. Even with my straight razors that I sharpen myself my whiskers would dull them down. A lot of guys that wet shave with straights and safeties think their problems are from thick whiskers. Usually its not, they either don't know how to sharpen properly, don't shave with the proper technique or both.I figured my problem was both in trying to get a good shave. I had to sort it out with an old timer that was the local pro at his barber shop. He got half way through my shave, looked at his blade through a magnifier and told me I was screwed, you have thick whiskers and just have to deal with it. I go back and forth between a Feather Artist Straight with changeable/disposable blades and a Safety Single Blade razor by Occam's razor that uses the same Feather blades as my straight.
I envy those that can get a close shave and can use electric shavers.

I doubt that's the motive. Hunter could lose another laptop with video of him clearly stating that he's demanding Ukie bribes on behalf of his dad, and the DoJ's only response would be to start arresting Ukie diplomats for corrupting Brandon's poor little boy.

I think this is a seriously misguided attempt to use another war to boost his popularity, in a nation that's been sick and tired of that cynical play for at least a decade now.

Bingo! And biden literally gave putin an engraved invitation to invade "just a little" in his speech last week. putin is gonna be putin. I am torn on this as we promised Ukraine protection specifically from Russia if they gave up their Nukes back in 96.

Posted by: Mister Scott (formerly GWS) at January 24, 2022 10:37 AM (bVYXr)

371 No way on the planet is the US going to go head to head with Russia over the Ukraine or in the Ukraine.

That is not going to happen.

I think the administration knows what is going to happen, they are just trying to figure out how to make the most domestic political hay out of it.

The region of the Ukraine in dispute is mostly ethnic Russian and they are supportive of becoming a part of Russia. Yeah, I know, Sudentenland and all that, but I don't really think Putin is on a world domination tour.

Anyway, I think the administration is pretty sure that the Russians will go there by whatever method. I think their angle will be "see how dangerous the Russians are and TrumpRussia! and you need to get rid of the filibuster so we can make the rules so that no way can TrumpRussia be President of these United States!"

403 Last week saw the covid deaths of two celeb men in their 70's.

Meat Loaf, 74, white, heterosexual, singer/songwriter/actor, was an anti-vax, anti-facemask, anti-government mandates type.

Andre Leon Talley, 73, black, homosexual, former Vogue editor and fashion director. Was vaccinated, wore masks, had become a recluse in his home, where he kept a bottle of hand sanitizer outside of his front door and insisted any visitors disinfect their hands before knocking or ringing the bell, and wouldn't open the door fully or let guests in his home, for fear of contacting covid.

Similar age, but very different attitudes towards covid, and both died from it anyway.

Lots of ghouls on social media mocking Meat Loaf for his anti-vax, anti-mask stances, but of course none mocking Talley for hiding himself away in his home and becoming obsessive-compulsive about possible covid contamination.

Meat Loaf of course died "because" he didn't take covid seriously (according to the social media ghouls).

So why did Talley die?

Biden was enabled by his colleagues in the GOP. His MBNA dealings were known all along. This family's corruption was known all along. The GOP never used any of this information while he was a Senator, and ran tomato cans against him almost the entire time. I'm too lazy to check, but I would challenge anyone to tell me a single moderate position he ever took in the Senate. I'd like to see one vote that he took that told the libs wing 'no, you're going too far'. He was never, ever a moderate, and the GOP never ever called him out on that.

I just thought the contrast was interesting. Here you have these two men, same age, but completely opposite reactions to the virus, and they both die from it the same week.

Talley literally tried to hide from the virus. He was the ultimate Karen, spraying Lysol everywhere, making anybody who came near him drench themselves in sanitizer, refusing to open the door to his home or let anybody come in, wearing a mask, getting vaccinated, and still he got infected and died.

Then Meat Loaf, refusing to get the clot shot or wear a mask, protesting the mandates, saying if he got the virus and died, then he'd just die. Life's a risk and something was inevitably going to kill him eventually, so whatever.

Talley spent the last two years of his life as a prisoner in his own home -- a nice home, to be sure, but still. At least Meat Loaf lived life on his own terms, not cowering away in fear.
It's a matter of personal preference, of course, but I know what I choose.

512 Simple edits to the Constitution...

Where is says "2/3rds vote to approve" change it to "3/4ths vote to approve."

Of course get rid of that 'compromise' about blacks in representation.

And of course keep the first ten amendments.

What would we have left is there were no institutional stupidity? Our economy, no, our entire way of life, is predicated on such.

And they all have to wear various neutral shades of slack or dresses, as assigned by gender.

Piercings will be forbidden and tattoos removed. Detainees will be forced to attend church services and read literature on the American revolution, the framing of the constitution, and various American heroes throughout history in the World Wars and various other times.

At the end of the two years, you will be asked what you think of America. If you are spitting out bile and drivel, you will be reassigned for another two years. Only when you have defeated your own narcissism will you be permitted to return to society.

529 Yeah, you don't time the market. It times you. I would be very careful and select about any shorts right now. Certain sectors may punch through, but there's a lot that is volatile. With inflation and rates, we are getting into territory we have not seen in a long time. It's also a mistake to believe this labor market will last forever. There are weird things going on and it's not just inflation related.
