The Morning Report - 1/24/22

lookfatpysankyjohnyoko.jpg

Good morning, kids. Start of a new week and the second year of a criminal, illegitimate junta with a decrepit, demented crook fronting the sham. I'm shocked he lasted a full year (that is, allowed to last a full year) but there is just no way he can go on, neither physically nor politically. And yet, the hits just keep on coming! First, the situation in Ukraine is shaping up to be Afghanistan 2: Bug-Out Boogaloo. Only this time, we're not fleeing and leaving thousands of Americans and other friendly foreigners to be taken hostage, or worse. This time, we're leaving them behind as Biden and his handlers have stumbled into a potential shooting war against the Russians.

Democrat [so-called quote-unquote "president"] Joe Biden was widely slammed online on Sunday evening amid numerous reports that indicated that the situation in Ukraine is rapidly deteriorating amid an increasingly likely invasion by Russian forces.

New reports indicate that the administration has ordered the families of all American personnel at the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine to immediately leave the country, has warned U.S. citizens in the country that it will be unable to evacuate them, and is considering sending U.S. military forces to Eastern Europe. . .

. . . "Given that the [so-called quote-unquote "president"] has said military action by Russia could come at any time, the U.S. government will not be in a position to evacuate U.S. citizens." Biden's State Department said, according to Fox News correspondent Jennifer Griffin. "So U.S. citizens, currently present in Ukraine should plan accordingly. . ."

. . . Karol Markowicz, : "We're just going to make leaving Americans in war zones an ongoing thing, huh. I remember, in my 20s, arguing with someone that one of the great benefits of being an American was that no matter what, and no matter where, my country was going to come get me. Whoops. . ."

. . . "The security conditions, particularly along Ukraine's borders, in Russia-occupied Crimea, and in Russia-controlled eastern Ukraine, are unpredictable and can deteriorate with little notice. Demonstrations, which have turned violent at times, regularly occur throughout Ukraine, including in Kyiv," the department said. "Do not travel to Ukraine due to the increased threats of Russian military action and [Chinese] COVID-19. Exercise increased caution in Ukraine due to crime and civil unrest. Some areas have increased risk."

A separate report on Sunday indicated that Biden was considering deploying U.S. forces to Eastern Europe in an apparent attempt to not appear weak, although many experts warn that it is too little too late.

Evidently, a virus akin to bad flu is potentially just as deadly as a burst from a Kalashnikov. Yet another self-inflicted atomic rake-step in the face, with deadly serious consequences for G-d knows how many Americans, and the junta just had to throw that stupidity in there. I honestly don't know whether to laugh or cry. So, a carrier group with the USS Harry Truman is steaming towards the Mediterranean, supposedly for exercises that were already on the calendar. My guess is it will probably wind up somewhere in the Aegean Sea perhaps close to the Dardanelles Strait -- the waterway that leads right into the Black Sea. That would be a Ho Lee Fook moment, my pretties.

And that's on top of reports of upwards of 5,000 troops being sent to Eastern Europe and the Baltics. You know, for the alleged party of peace, love and understanding, anti-imperialism, anti-colonialism and unconditional American disarmament, these Democrats sure seem hot and horny to untuck their junk and swing their dicks all over the place and start all kinds of trouble. The RINOs of course are right with them but we're beyond party politics; that illusion was shattered for good in the wake of the 2020 election theft. But I digress.

IIRC, one of the pillars of the so-called "Obama Doctrine" was to abandon a centerpiece of American post-World War 2 military policy; being able to engage in a war on one side of the world while either preventing or if need be effectively engaging in military action against a different opponent on the other side of the world.

The United States discarded its oft-misunderstood "two war" doctrine, intended as a template for providing the means to fight two regional wars simultaneously, late last decade. Designed to deter North Korea from launching a war while the United States was involved in fighting against Iran or Iraq (or vice versa,) the idea helped give form to the Department of Defense's procurement, logistical and basing strategies in the post-Cold War, when the United States no longer needed to face down the Soviet threat. The United States backed away from the doctrine because of changes in the international system, including the rising power of China and the proliferation of highly effective terrorist networks.

But what if the United States had to fight two wars today, and not against states like North Korea and Iran? What if China and Russia sufficiently coordinated with one another to engage in simultaneous hostilities in the Pacific and in Europe?

Could Beijing and Moscow coordinate a pair of crises that would drive two separate U.S. military responses? Maybe, but probably not. Each country has its own goals, and works on its own timeline. More likely, one of the two would opportunistically take advantage of an existing crisis to further its regional claims. For example, Moscow might well decide to push the Baltic States if the United States became involved in a major skirmish in the South China Sea.

In any case, the war would start on the initiative of either Moscow or Beijing. The United States enjoys the benefits of the status quo in both areas, and generally (at least where great powers are concerned) prefers to use diplomatic and economic means to pursue its political ends. While the U.S. might create the conditions for war, Russia or China would pull the trigger. . .

. . . The bulk of American carriers, submarines and surface vessels would concentrate in the Pacific and the Indian Oceans, fighting directly against China's A2/AD system and sitting astride China's maritime transit lanes. Long range aviation, including stealth bombers and similar assets, would operate in both theaters as needed.

This excerpt from an extensive analysis was published almost exactly one year ago. Talk about prescient. Emphasis mine. Aside from numbers, our preparedness to fight actual enemies and not "climate change" or "transphobia" is in doubt. A number of incidents involving the Navy by themselves, are alarming indicators. I don't think either Joey Soft-Serve or Putin really want to pull the trigger. Putin thinks he can bluff his way into getting what he wants, yet Team Biden giving the green light with Joey's "limited incursion" gaffe might have no choice but to respond with force should the Russians roll across the border.

And with that scenario a possibility, Taipei has got to be sweating bullets. Back over in Europe, I've got to ask the rhetorical question, where the hell is NATO? Well, for all intents and purposes the US is NATO. But with this schmuck and his Marxists in control, Germany and France are seeking some sort of accord with Moscow, and the former East Bloc countries are scrambling. If I were them, I'd announce some sort of emergency alliance right now because Ukraine isn't the only target in Putin's sights.

The one thing that should not be lost in the sauce as it were is none of this would be happening if Trump was still in the Oval Office. The rank insubordination of the flag officer corps, JCS, intelligence community and State Dept. notwithstanding, of course. But, we'll never really know, will we? Frankly, the world could go up in flames, for all I care. Russia would have all kinds of internal problems exacerbated if it swallowed Ukraine whole, and the Chi-Coms for all their bluster are facing long-term demographic disaster, and near term economic busts, a government rife with all sorts of corruption and a population that has been allowed to taste the fruits of western capitalism and don't exactly share Pooh-Pooh Xi's dreams of Chinese glory.

All that said, the Americans as well as truly innocent people in these potential war zones are to be pitied. Moving away from this explosive clusterfuck, there are, sadly, far too many so-called "Americans" right here at home who have no qualms about what has been inflicted on us by the Democrat Party and those who support the dissolution of our society and culture.

But where there is life, there is hope. Both the March for Life as well as the 30,000-strong "Defeat the Mandates: An American Homecoming" march to protest "draconian COVID-19 requirements" while only two instances that some might call anecdotal, they nevertheless are indicators of an undercurrent of discontent for the ruling class that is only growing in intensity, despite the attempts by the agitprop media to suppress, impugn or otherwise spin it.

Funny how even in all this darkness, the Left has seemingly been stopped cold (for the time being) by two of its own, Manchin and Sinema, and there is a growing possibility that the nearly 50-year abomination of Roe v. Wade could be severely neutered if not overturned completely. Who could've seen that coming? The times they are a'changing. But will they be "interesting?"

>>Morning all. Fuck this miserable excuse of a human being that sits in the White House. The fuckwad is considering sending thousands of troops to the Baltics.

Well, the Junta needs some way to offload the devastation it's created, what better way to draw the GOP into their psychodrama than a pointless war.

The GOP/MIC jocksniffer/War Monger class lives for this shit.

I fully expect a bunch of joint statements from the usual suspects in the coming days/weeks about how we have to do this guys!!!

13 Unlike Afghanistan, Americans in Ukraine can hop on a train and end up in Hungary or Poland or Slovakia. And if they aren't already on the road or the rails, I think they kind of deserve whatever is coming. Also, now seems like a very good time for a preemptive no-Aumf vote.

20 Morning peeps. If you are somewhat familiar with how to track flights (FlightAware) for commercial or vacation travel hop onto FlightRadar24 and zoom over to the Ukraine. Most of the aircraft icons are commercial. Find the one that has the callsign "Forte12." It's a large military drone, specifically a RQ-4 "Global Hawk."

These intelligence gathering drones have been flying there for at least the last month or so. Other military aircraft will appear from time to time as well. Note that not every aircraft is displayed. Some, for obvious reasons do not transmit a signal that can be picked up and displayed on the net.

The point being we are watching what Russia is doing. It won't be a surprise if/when they invade the Ukraine... but it will be reported that way for "The Narrative" (tm).

Posted by: Martini Farmer at January 24, 2022 07:31 AM (BFigT)

21 14 I could be wrong, but no way Dems would go to war with Russia. Maybe a proxy war, but that won't help them. 90 percent of their harvested voters wouldn't know Ukraine from a hole in the ground. Maybe half of conservatives would know the difference.

Posted by: Quint at January 24, 2022 07:33 AM (5A9IG)

22 While I understand the NATO comments, Germany is pulling the smart move here for two reason: first, WWII. Second, WWII. German Armies in the Ukraine would not look good for NATO. German Armies in the Ukraine would give Russia a huge propaganda victory enabling Putin to paint the conflict as the Great Patriotic War against Fascism 2. I however, doubt that any of our leaders know this history or understand it...

I visited Bletchley Park in the UK. Where they did the codebreaking for Enigma. They made much of the fact that their work was heavily based on Polish mathematicians/codebreakers' work. And how the Brits had been in contact with those codebreakers who told them the Germans were going to invade. And how their work was so valuable the Brits snuck them out of the country before the invasion.

The invasion that the Brits said, when it happened, they had no idea would happen.

There is nothing new under the sun.

35 I really couldn't give two shits what 'it would look like if German troops were seen in Ukraine'. First off, Germany (and NATO) has milked us bigly in terms of money and economic support for decades beyond their ability to support and defend themselves. Secondly, the EU committed themselves to dependence on Russian NG for heating, even going so far as decomissioning power plants using other energy sources. So fuck them.

As for the Ukraine, well they subverted the US election and have actively enabled grift and corruption there as well as here. They can just live with what they've wrought. If any US personnel need to be sent to that soiree, let it be Col. Bearclaw and his ilk. Fuck them all in particular.

I am not so optimistic. Biden's bad and getting worse, but he also has access to (and compelled usage of, in all likelihood) the best drug and behavioral treatments for his dementia. They *can* make him appear human, at least sometimes. He isn't calling many if any shots anyway and is just a marionette, so if they can keep him shambling, they can maintain the status quo.

The very apparent infighting and empire building and competition within his politburo cannot be sustained, however, and I suspect the shakeup - if any - will happen there. Some shadowy but powerful figures will exit the administration as the dominant factions consolidate power.

Just my guess.

Joe D says because he is walking a fine line and doesn't want to be accused of inciting violence. Get that? Inciting violence.

Also Joe D says put your faith in the Virginia Supreme Court. Also, he says that there will chaos in VA because the teachers will go on strike if the EO is enforced, and then a showdown over their firing....

I do not place faith in the VA Supreme Court. And that Youngkin says kids listen to the principals not your parents seems like a path to loserville.

Someone with whom I was speaking when I was a teenager, I think (or maybe early twenties) put it this way:
"A Republican wants a very large army that stays home most of the time. A Democrat wants a very small army that fights everywhere all the time."

This isn't precisely true. The neocon Republicans want a big army that's always deployed and the Democrats want a small army that's always deployed. This way they can have their cake and eat it, too: they get to blast military spending and doctrine while simultaneously using the big armed forces guaranteed by the neocons in their fake-compromise Uniparty games to achieve their own goals in terms of constant low-grade/low-stakes imperial maintenance.

Unless, of course, they put a demented meat puppet in place who accidentally causes a huge war...

66 IIRC, one of the pillars of the so-called "Obama Doctrine" was to abandon a centerpiece of American post-World War 2 military policy; being able to engage in a war on one side of the world while either preventing or if need be effectively engaging in military action against a different opponent on the other side of the world.
++++
Trump's doctrine was lightning strikes and willingness to engage with brutal violence on a moment's notice, but only if you stepped out of line. There was an emphasis on targeted assassination and high-value targets. The underlying goal was the re-imposition of deterrence, which had been damaged pretty significantly by Obama.

Biden subscribes to the "'just the tip' strategic doctrine," which extends across all aspects of diplomacy and military affairs.

One great lie, one titanic evil and one tremendous irony there:
Lie: The "nuclear family" is a Western creation (it isn't - it is a natural evolution of increased wealth that permits single-generation households)
Evil: The "nuclear family" is bad because it stands in the way of absolute state power.
Ironic: The domestic population most reflective of the non-familial, collectively-supported, externally-controlled design goal is the hyper-violent and tremendously poor urban black population, which has seen all of its key development figures decline in lock step with the increasing manifestation of these very sociological goals.

A "real war" in that vein is unlikely, and we certainly don't want one. The outcome is also not entirely in our own hands. If we create the conditions for regional conflict and it spills over, we could end up dragged into it anyway. 138 117 97 61 why, because he is overweight? Americans have never been fatter nor lived longer. I have dropped 65 pounds and it hasn"t changed my BP a lick.

And that's what gets me in all the Covid messaging - 1st it was everyone will die - hide.

Now, it's everyone but the "absolutely on death's door" will be fine. But 4 comorbidities doesn't actually imply that's you. There's tons of people living great lives with 4 comorbidities. I don't know if I have 3 or 4 at this point in the counting (food allergies, cancer, slightly high BP, and maybe a bonus pt for blood cancer b/c it's the worst cancer for this), but I live the same life as my friends (except for some extra care), walk 3 miles/day, keep up after 4 kids, homeschool, volunteer, etc. And do it all of a single 1/2 prescribed pill and some OTC vitamin supplements, so medical science and healthcare aren't keeping me this well.

So, this messaging is also F'ed, b/c now it makes it sound like the only people that get sick and die do b/c it's their fault or they were gonna die anyway. Also wrong.

Honestly, we just need "flu" messaging. We can't seem to get there.

The Ukraine is really on its own. American assets such as a carrier strike group have to operate in the Med and wouldn't venture into the cramped confines leading to the Black Sea. Logistically possible, but difficult and would require coordination from countries like Turkey and Greece.

At the time of the American Revolution, best guess is that no more than 1/3 of the people here supported the Revolutionaries. Another third were Royalists, and the remaining third didn't care and didn't want to get involved.
Likewise, if you look at the time of the American Civil War, and count *all* Americans, including southerners, than at *no* time during that entire war did Lincoln ever have more than 40% support. He barely won re-election when all the states that hated him most were barred from voting.

My point is that *all* great Revolutions and Reformations happen when a dedicated and focused minority are able to impose their political Will on a divided and confused populace. When one side holds a great majority, there is no need for conflict, it simply imposes its will with impunity.

I think a lot of it is simply driven by the fact that their livelihood, like many of ours, is highly dependent on their corporate/government masters who dictate what they are allowed to do. The mask and vaccination mandates are part of the same thinking. We MUST obey those mandates or we lose our jobs, our main sources of income, and thus our ability to take care of ourselves and our families.

Possible and plausible, but unacceptable. If this is where all the 1/1/1918 dates came from, it exposes some problems and questions that should cause a lot of unease if not outright panic over the conditions of their rolls.
- Why was 1/1/1918 chosen as the default registration date?
- Why were county registrations present without a registration date in the first place?
- Why were registrations without a registration merged and retained?
- Why was the data-merge system designed to perform a substitution when validation failed?
- What other data validations were bypassed or resulted in substitution?
- What post-merge validation was done to ensure rolls reflected actual population and registration?

If this is the real answer, it exposes that their system was carelessly designed and recklessly implemented and must not be trusted for any reason.

192 I had a COVID-tacular weekend. I'm not sick yet, but I'm more or less resigned to it. My dad got it.
Thursday night: "I'm feeling fluish and am going to bed after taking horse juice, my vitamins, etc."
Friday morning: Can barely get out of bed and have a 102.5 fever and hurt all over. Morning meds, more vitamins, a bit of Flo-nase. Back to bed. No appetite.
Friday afternoon: Fever broke, O2 sat normal (unable to check prior), very fatigued, foggy mind
Saturday morning: fatigued, more sleep
Sunday: Fatigued, up all day and functional.

My mom got sick Saturday night. Achy and fatigued and no appetite but also no fever. She had been feeling early-sick a few weeks prior and took some horse juice just in case it was the 'Vid. Another does, her vitamins, sinus irrigation and Flo-nase. Yesterday she had her appetite back (mostly) and aches were fading out by the evening.

Now we just need to keep an eye on things for a few days and be vigilant against backsliding. A bunch of people I know who got the Omicron had the fly-like symptoms first, followed by brutal congestion. We're on the lookout for that and maintaining the nasal irrigation and Flo-nase (minor nasal steroid). Fun.

In terms of war, I predict an effort to rile up the country, partially led by the GOPe, that gets short circuited once the GOPe realizes that their base isn't falling for the "Protect our graft for patriotism" line. The left will be far more eager to fall for it, while their left flank of antiwar protestors will get sidelined and ignored with the corporate media only trumpeting the pro-war voices. It will become a limited engagement like bombing Syria or something.

In terms of covid...nope. The left cannot let it go. They've broken their base completely. It's a religious fervor and psychological need for "safety" that is the main driver on the left these days. Sending red state men to war to fight the evil Russia is one thing. Telling them that they can be safe without a mask is attempted murder, though.

219 From the article on working-aged deaths:
Since we don't live in a linear world, the death rates are not increasing at the same rate across the country. At two ends of the spectrum, we have New Hampshire with no increase in the mortality rate for the 18-64 ages group and then we have Tennessee with a 61% increase! I don't know what explains the variations between states and regions, but neither does anybody else and somebody ought to be looking!
++++
I'd have to look at the statewise data (and countywise) to try draw a reasonable guess, but one thing that immediately stands out as a possibility is geography. The mid-south and upper south are serious fentanyl and speed territory. Those exist everywhere, of course, and are the scourge of our time but those regions are big. It would not surprise me at all to learn that the excess deaths in these areas were drug-related.

If so, then the real kicker of a question comes up: why is there more drug use and more drug-related mortality in the past two years, and is it related to increased depression or despair and if so is that increase related to the COVID response policies?

It is not a coincidence that there are a large number with exactly the same date. That would indicate to me that is a default date the system gave when the field was empty. It does not mean that there 1 out of 14 registered voters is over 124.

It DOES mean the data is bad. The default date was a choice that results in a bad conclusion. It also means that you can't tell the bad data from the good.

This is true, but I think it should be taken a step further. When a database is that important but can *also* be remade for relatively little cost, it should be periodically destroyed and re-created.

The voter rolls should be purged (burn the rolls/delete the database) after every general election, six months after the vote is certified (to allow time for auditing). Everyone who wants to vote next time can go re-register.

Sure, but 1918 is a weird start date. Maybe the primary system was designed in the 80s and they chose "70 years ago" as the oldest reasonable date for gating inputs. No idea.

But regardless of the reason - which is probably benign - it exposes far too much weakness in what they're doing.

277 [Sure, but 1918 is a weird start date. Maybe the primary system was designed in the 80s and they chose "70 years ago" as the oldest reasonable date for gating inputs. No idea.

But regardless of the reason - which is probably benign - it exposes far too much weakness in what they're doing.
Posted by: Joe Mannix (Not a cop!) at January 24, 2022 09:05 AM (DU+/6)

Probably this is not a data entry issue but rather data conversion.

I would bet that this particular database is relatively recently instituted - say in 2018 - they converted from a system with 2 digit years and so in the data conversion process they inserted 1/1/2018 for blank or incorrectly formatted dates in the old system.

That's another possibility. My overall point remains, though: whatever the reason, this system is weak and was poorly designed. You shouldn't get these kinds of artifacts in a critical system. Exceptions need to be quarantined and resolved, manually if necessary, when the data set is important. They clearly were pretty lackadaisical with implementation, migration, etc. That is unacceptable for a critical system like election control.

Too easily identifiable for honest pollworkers. They will elide a real date, whether nonsensical or not.

I think they chose the '18' year so it was not 0/0/00 and the pollworkers could ask the voters for updates. In smaller towns and precincts, people do tend to be at least acquainted.

Other than the "create a new virus" being altered to "help spread a new virus" you have the exact same pathologies now as you had in the Spanish Flu. The government mavens controlled all of the research, made all kinds of odd declarations and insisted on procedures that maximized deaths.

It took Rockefeller and his FU money to assemble a team to do it in secret and bring the world out the other side of the Government exacerbated pandemic.

I agree. Bad data leads to bad conclusions. That the system has those defaults leads to a bad conclusion that also has the effect of masking other bad data. Stupidity or malice or both, no doubt.

This is from Politifact but:

When a municipality's system didn't track a voter's date of birth or initial date of registration, a default date was entered into the statewide system: 1/1/1900 for date of birth and 1/1/1918 for date of registration. Such placeholders for missing information have been used by other states as well.

Stealing Congress, especially against a wave of resentment and hatred, is a tall order. Stealing the presidency is doable and some major races are doable, but the House in particular is harder because there are so many districts and not so many people in a lot of them. The margin for cheating is smaller at the lower resolutions, and the ability to manufacture is limited.

This. by the way, is why they really need the election law package they're trying to cram through. To cheat at 2020 scale or beyond requires rules to enable it. Without 2020 election rules (vote-by-mail, absent validation, ballot harvesting, multiple counting, turnout exceeding 100%, etc.), 2020-style cheating is much harder and possibly unattainable. Virginia couldn't pull it off (as much as Richmond tried) in 2021. They need those rules. Forever.

Those were political movies to shape public opinion of Ronald Reagan as some sort of war monger. This was the age of Reagan's "Star Wars" initiative that while heavily mocked was later shown to be a prime mover in the collapse of the former Soviet Union.

Since the junta seems to be run by a clandestine cartel of brokers, I wonder if Hollywood is going to give us tells as to what the cartel is thinking.

Furthermore, given that Biden clearly is not in control, does this make the 25th Amendment moot?

I mean, it's possible that these people are moving to places like Florida, in fact we have some examples. But they are surely the exception. "Ron DeSantis prowls the night with a covid infected knife that he sticks in the backs of the unwitting and moral, and the MAGA idiots who voted for him cheer him on. Also, I'm moving to Lakeland, Florida."

In the spring of 2021, an old high school reached out to question my Instagram share of a doctor questioning the govt mandates, protect the vulnerable, get the vx etc. this person is super lib and lives in DC.

It was fairly polite exchange bc I quoted bill Maher who had just said something against the mandates or masks or whatever at the time so she couldn't argue with me but at the end she comes out with this gem - she was just getting back to DC after spending the winter in Florida.

This means working on defenses to limit the damage of an attack and deploy offensive weapons to respond with formidable combat power. This requires hardening U.S. assets with passive and active defenses.

Let's find out. Off to the BLS! Civilian non-institutional population and total employment, seasonally adjusted:
December, 2019 labor force: 164,633,000
December, 2019 total employment: 158,772,000
December, 2021 labor force: 162,294,000
December 2021 total employment: 155,975,000

Labor force movement: -2,339,000 (-1.4%)
Total employment movement: -2,797,000 (-1.8%)

So no. The labor force shrank by 2.4 million and total employment shrank by 2.8 million (1.4% and 1.8%, respectively) between the last pre-pandemic month of December 2019 and the equivalent month in 2021.

Not only would it be inadvisable to move an aircraft carrier into the Black Sea, it's a treaty violation. By the terms of the Montreux Convention (1936), aircraft carriers are not permitted to pass the Turkish straits in either direction. That's why the Russians pretend their aircraft carriers are "aircraft-carrying cruisers". Since we admit that ours are aircraft carriers, they can't pass the straits. (It's more complicated than that, but this is what it comes down to: Wikipedia has all the details under 'Montreux Convention'.)
