Looter otters. Lootters!

Dolphins annoy whales with a bunch of show-offy nonsense and aqua-f*ckery.

Huge owl. Might appear larger due to small girl.

Rooster suffers an identity crisis.

As does this fella.

Proud booby.

Inman: Playing stupid games, winning the appropriate prizes.

Exploratory plumbing.

A proud graduate of the Alec Baldwin School of Gun Safety and Actor-Level Intelligence.

This shit is aimed directly at creators like Inman and scum of tik tok. Now, somebody feelz bad for being dipshits, they complain and it gets pulled down - and twatter probably gives them a strike. Turks have been weird for a while.

Maybe anti- dog sentiment is more an Arab thing? I dunno.

Turkey is considered part of Europe for State posts, so maybe they have more of a European outlook on dogs. Several families, including us, had dogs poisoned in Jordan, which is fairly westernized. But no problems in the Gulf, for some reason. I guess it depends on the individual. Dogs are considered haram, or forbidden/unclean, because according to a Hadith, the PBUHMO didn't like dogs.

96 >>The dolphin / whale vid is like semi trucks and sports cars on the interstate. The sports cars are always the ones that end up on the bad end of the equation.

You'd think so but in they are incredibly agile swimmers and their roads are endlessly wide and deep.

We see them when we are out fishing in the gulf stream and they will ride the bow wave of the boat. They come right up next to it and you think they are going to hit and the next thing you know the disappear under the surface and pop up on the other side of the boat and then do a little tail walk to show off.

Smart too. They never try to take our bait.

per Mark Twain in the late 1890's there were packs of street dogs in Istambul and though they weren't cared for they were let run around.

Fidelity stepped up to quickly help everyone switch to Compushare (direct register the shares you hold) Everyone loved Fidelity, the only honest broker!

Until yesterday, when the redditors discovered Fidelity plotted with the hedge funds to "lend" their new crop of shares so the hedge funds could short 11 million shares and drive the price down.

So now Fidelity is reaping what they sowed.

190 Turkey is considered part of Europe for State posts, so maybe they have more of a European outlook on dogs. Several families, including us, had dogs poisoned in Jordan, which is fairly westernized. But no problems in the Gulf, for some reason. I guess it depends on the individual. I am no expert, but if you go to superstonk (a subthread of reddit--don't be scared off, though) there's a lot of very smart people, kind of like here at ace's.

In theory, the hedge funds are desperate because they've been caught with their pants down on the GME short, and once they start collapsing, its a domino effect. Then the SEC and the DTCC is supposed to cover the stockholder's losses, but if they can't, down goes the banks and then the fed.

so, we'll see. It's very clear there's shenanigans going on, and the business media is covering for it.

And Gamestop is still in the stratosphere.

We had more fun feeding the eagles than fishing.

But the suggested twats are all freaking out about SCOTUS, McConnell (yeah, he's a real conservative stalwart) how awful Rittenhouse is, etc.

Twatter is an absolute cesspool that gets worse daily. I hope and pray it dies horribly. It's a shit shame that it mostly stays alive because of government agencies using it (should be illegal), actual politicians or conservative pundits who simply can't quit it. If all those mentioned cut bait, the twattersphere would tear itself apart in no time.

Posted by: Kindltot at December 01, 2021 08:25 PM (ZMraq)

To sell short, you need to have a share in hand you will buy in the future at your low price. The owner can't 'loan' that share to anyone else at the same time. In the frauds, there were all sorts of tricks to use one share multiple times for short deals, and cash in when the company collapsed. But when the price goes up, the short fellow has to pay the holder the current price and take the stock, then and there. The SEC did a lot to keep that from biting hard at the sharks, but enough of them felt a bite at having to pay back losses.

273 A lot of brokers won't let you transfer your shares to Compushare. I know Etoro in Europe won't--and it's difficult to transfer IRA and 401k shares to compushares. So Fidelity's said, transfer the shares to us, as your new broker, and we'll take care of you! Promise!

(there's an SEC rule that the old broker has to transfer to the new broker within 3 days. Clarification: Compushare is not a broker, it's your agent, so that rule doesn't apply to them.)

So fidelity got an avalanche of transferred shares on the idea that they would then transfer to compushare.

But it was a ploy to use the new pool of GME shares so the hedge funds could manipulate the market and lower the price. (They're trying to get the redditors to sell, so that they don't have to cover. Speculation that there's a billion synthetic shares out there)

So the redditors figured this out, and now Fidelity is a bloodbath.

Anyone remember when SEARS was using that horrible Pick Up Your Oder Here system?

It was horrendous. You'd shop in the store, then get back in your car and drive to the other side of the building to pick-up area.

Then you'd scan your receipt and wait. It was like going to the Registry of the Motor Vehicles!

When I was growing up, there was a store called Service Merchandise. They had a similar system called Silent SAM. The store was basically a showroom, and when you decided what you wanted, you went to a computer and entered your order (or maybe one of the staff did it for you). You didn't have to leave the store, though. You went to the back, where the registers were, and your order would show up. Wasn't too bad of a system, actually.

I don't know what the breakdown is, but I do know that there's no way in hell Fidelity is actively managing $10T on behalf of clients.

If I have $100 worth of a fidelity mutual fund or I have $100 in cash at Fidelity, both scenarios are part of AUM. But obviously in one scenario the money is actively managed and in another it isn't.

398 I spent some time in the Sears HQ out in the burbs, Hoffman Estates. That place was yuuuuuge. It coudl take 20 minutes to walk from one office to another. What they also had was a kick ass cafeteria with subsidized pricing.

It was damn near impossible to go out for lunch within an hour. It took that long just to get to the car and back. Plus at the time (it may have changed since) there was nothing around. It was truly middle of nowhere.

From what I understand, and this comes from an uber tool whore of a mechanic friend of mine, the better harbor freight tools are made by Genius tools, which would explain why the roto head ratchet I got is frigging indestructible. I was so impressed with that thing I bought 2 more. One for my regular box to give my snap-on ratchet a break, and other for the small tool set I keep in the muscle car. Then I bought the Icon version just for shits and giggles, and it appears to be the same, just a slightly better degree of polish. Point blank, I got a box full of snap-on shit, and I'm a borderline tool snob, but that harbor freight shit is frigging amazing for the money. There's a new one on the Aflac commercials that is even worse. They've apparently decided they're going to branch out into trying to appeal to black folks who might not know who Nick Saban is, so they've brought in some black coach from (I assume) an HBCU, and there are always HBCU band members and flag girls gyrating in the background.

AND the commercials are always "I KNOW HOW MUCH YOU LUV YOU SOME MONEYS!!!"

No sh*t. It's not exactly that phrase, but it's very, very close.

That depends. Sometimes people who have nice rolodex start up a company and get high net worth people their family knew involved, putting in capital and loaning them funds, but they have zero business sense.

Eventually, they need to give way to professional management. But that is something they are less prone to do...they'd rather ask Uncle Bob or Uncle Bob's 80 year-old friend who used to run a company 20 years ago but that now is long since been under some other persons' ownership...and his advice is universally shit.

yeah the icon stuff is nice. I have some pieces. I have one of their 14 piece wrench sets. Was $100. My snap-on set was $235, its a smaller 9 piece set, and that was 25 years ago. they sit unused in the drawer, because right around that time another mechanic friend of mine was ranting about this brand K-mart sold called Benchtop, and they looked like an exact copy of the older snap-on wrenches. They were $20 for a 10 piece set, and I bought them just to prove to my friend that I would disintegrate $20 Taiwan wrenches. The joke was on me. Every harley I built in the last 25 years was with those wrenches, and they look like the day I got them, and I do think the factory that made them is probably the same dudes who make the Icon, which I think is just a slightly better finished upper scale version of the pittsburg.

Don't I know it, but its beautiful stuff. There are a few tiny screws that hold the switches in the housings of the handlebar switches on a harley. The snap-on screw drivers are the only ones that will 100% of the time get them screws out without destroying them. I have full sets of MAC, SK, Craftsman, and some others and they do not do what those snap-on screw drivers do. I use one of them for that one screw only, because I don't want to wear it out. But yeah, they were probably $20 each 25 years ago.

It's got to be from the 1930s, early side. It's a stand-by tool to un-plug cigars with a bad draw, so far haven't needed it.

And oil can. Old school, similar to the one for the Tin Man in Wizard of Oz.

No, not like gunsmith screw drivers. I have those too. I'm talking a regular old philips head screw driver. The story goes like this- back in the 90's I had set up in the middle bay of my friend's car repair place. He was having health problems and asked If I could work out of there and keep an eye on the place for him. I was doing one of those handlebar controls and I was cursing because every screw driver I grabbed was slipping and burning out the screw. The car mechanic there comes walking over, and hands me a snap-on screw driver with a smirk on his face. I was like ok Mr snap-on. I grabbed the screw driver, stuck it in the screw head, and *POP*, it breaks free and comes right out. A week later I'm doing another set, and same shit, screw drivers fucking with me. I ask the mechanic for that screw driver and *POP* out it comes. That was it, I was convinced.

Just because you've seen it one way doesn't mean it won't be offered another. And if you go 18v the batteries are interchangeable on all tools.

532 Mag na Tip is the brand of screwdriver bits that Brownell's sells and last time I checked is still made in the USA. It does have the hollowground bits but also each is carefully hardened so that the bits snap rather than twist in order to keep from marring the screws. Wheeler has some China sourced bits that look similar but twist under too much torque. A lot of Brownell's tools for gunsmithing are still made and sourced in the US.

Old Chapman screwdriver bit sets were also made in US formerly but now in China and Chapman has a pretty neat mini ratchet for the bits which gives you a bit more torque if you need it than a straight handle.

Grace still makes punches, screwdrivers, etc. in the US but its screwdrivers have wooden handles instead of replaceable bit holders. Wood handles are not as slick as plastic etc. and not being round but square with rounded corners also helps with holding the screwdriver steady.

Chinese sourcing of files is my biggest pita so I buy old files and recondition them.
