Mallard Air 861, you are cleared for landing...

Seal Air 455, you may taxi to runway four...

Air Albatross one one eight, you are coming in too fast and too low, pull up pull up pull up!

World's sleepiest, laziest dog plays dead to avoid getting out of dog-bed.

Another lazy dog finds a cheatcode for walking.

Sled dog!

It's not just a fluke -- sledding is new craze of Dog Nation!

Mama cat teaches another cat to have some care with her kitten.

Nervous puppy isn't sure how to "make the move" on a boy she likes.

Cat lets her favorite stuffed animal have first eats at the food bowl.

Uh-oh, another "vigilante" who "had no business being there," better put him on trial.

#BuildBackBeaver.

Inman's first video, a classic.

18 Interestingly, a lot of juries work hard to be unanimous. If there are one or two people who aren't convinced, the others will try to convince them, and go over the evidence very patiently.

Most jurors tend to take it seriously.

33 So I've tried doing Kroger Pick-up twice now. I've got to say they don't fill me with confidence, but they have that $15 off your order deal. So the first time they were sketchy on some of the "item not available" things on my list and they completely screwed up a few others. So I got a $15 gift card. And this time I forgot to tell them no substitution on some items. Apparently they believe the regular pop is a valid substitution for the diet. Oh and they gave me two entire grocery bags of stuff that wasn't mine, so they've screwed over another customer.

MY experience with delivery has been pretty mixed that way. Some stuff not in the order, sometimes someone else's order. Usually its right but you learn that some places just aren't good at delivery food. Stick with the classics and you're better off.

An explosion outside Liverpool Women's Hospital on Remembrance Sunday has been declared a terror incident by police.

A taxi exploded and was engulfed in flames just before 11:00 GMT at a drop-off zone near the entrance, killing the passenger and injuring the driver.

The cabbie, named locally as David Perry, was declared a hero by Liverpool Mayor Joanne Anderson for locking the suspect inside the vehicle. [andy: when his suicide vest exploded prematurely or was detonated to get into Paradise -- BTW, suspect fake converted to Christianity and was brought into the UK by a church group.]

Four men have been arrested in the city under the Terrorism Act.

98 > You work here every day and you don't know? I come in like once every 2 weeks or more and I know where shit is that I never buy!

I think a lot of people in super menial jobs like bagging and stocking learn to basically shut down their brain. They're practically sleepwalking. I remember completely zoning out when I cleaned grills in an industrial kitchen and when I was a janitor.

109 I think a lot of people in super menial jobs like bagging and stocking learn to basically shut down their brain.

I worked as a bus boy in a grocery store in my youth. First thing they had me do was go through the store and check that everything in their sales flier in the newspaper was in stock: basically "learn where everything is". By the end of the week I knew the store backward and forward.

It wasn't menial brain dead work though. Working with customers, cleaning aisles, fronting shelves, stocking stuff from the back, bagging groceries, helping people to their car, bundling up cardboard, throwing cans for returns, it was always something different and busy.

With a good boss it wasn't a bad job. When he was moved to a new store and the owners' meathead son took over, then it sucked.

179 Have no idea, but easily can see in a tiny state like WY (population) that the GOP is a very very tiny, very weird little clique, and we're talking about party committee vote or something, not a primary. So a bizarre outcome like this close vote is not that hard to understand (if the situation is as I'm guessing it is). Small clique, long-time family friends, etc. In other words not an organization run, in any respect, for the good of the citizenry, just a plaything/ladder/cash cow/power trip for the clique.

188 What irritates me at the grocery store is how incompetent the baggers are. I put the food on the conveyor belt in the order in which I want it bagged. And yet, they will put raw meat with bread, cans on top of bananas, a hot rotisserie chicken with a frozen pizza, etc. Just baffling. It isn't rocket science.

The other thing that annoys me is that all the stores in the area sort things basically the same way. Gingersnaps, for example, are always on the top shelf, which I can't reach, in both Kroger and HEB. I asked a manager about it, and he said that the grocery stores outsource their shelving arrangements, which I guess makes sense.

267 I used to listen to shortwave radio when most countries still had at least a couple hours of broadcast. The internet killed that.

Radio Havana was pretty bad - really bad - as far as Cuba news or historicity went. But interestingly enough they were reasonably even handed and neutral when simply reporting straight news and breaking events from around the world. This is a valid strategy as far as propaganda goes.

What's also interesting, is American news media feels no need to report anything even handedly, or remotely neutral or "just the facts". I stopped watching any networks about 2008,

I'm just gobsmacked anybody can watch that shit when I see even snippets of it today.

I happened to be working at a grocery store when they went to plastic bags. We were trained how to load them.

One strategy is to make walls with things like a bacon package, cracker box, etc, and then fill in the middle.

To reassure patrons that the bags were strong enough, my boss hung a bag full of 2-liter pop bottles near the entrance and poked holes all over it. It still held the bottles.

Radio Havana was head-and-shoulders above all the other "official" shortwave stations. Great music, and the feature/fluff shows were entertaining as well. There used to be a host named Arnie Coro who did how-to tips for building your own shortwave antennas and stuff like that. I had an email conversation with him during the early internet days, probably 1993-1994. It felt very subversive, what with the embargo and all, but back then nobody was watching you online. Albeit less dramatically, I was walking eastward one early September evening and down the dock at my grandparents' place on Lake Superior in Wisconsin. I was looking to my right and was saying to my friend and youngest brother, "Look, there's Sagittarius!" and my next step landed me in the lake. My brother said, "Krebs just fell in the lake." My friend disagreed, but burst out laughing when, there in his flashlight's beam, I was cussing while standing knee deep in water.

492 What Beto is betting on is that McConaughey will enter the race and draw more votes from Abbott than from him. That is, if he wants to win, which I suspect he doesn't.

There was an occasional member of Congress in our area who was a perennial candidate and actually won one term twice, to his surprise. I always suspected that the point was actually the perpetual campaign, because he wrote all of his expenses off to it and had donors who believed in him. I think the two times he won it was like the dog who caught the car bumper.

So back to Beto, I don't think he cares whether he wins or not. That is completely not the point.

You'll know it when you hear genuine Indian drums and the "hi yi yi yi yi" stuff. It's pretty cool to zone on that for a while driving around the Mesas and canyons, or watching the sunset

Stumbled across an FM station up that way once. Was rocking out to some metal when they broke for commercials, in Navajo.

The immenseness of scale or our existence fascinates little ones in a way that we, being older and jaded, can only harken back to, faded and gone.

My 3 year old daughter, when we visited Arizona, and passed by a huge mine dug deep and vast into the earth...she could not forget it, and asked repetitively is she could go back and revisit - even when we left the state. The enormous nature of it could not register with her primitive mind, and she needed to view it, again and again, just to soak it in...fascinating.
