Mystery Critter Cafe

adopted.jpg

This happy boy, Liam, has a special reason to be happy today -- he just got adopted!

HOSE!HOSE! OMG! HOSE! LEMME HAVE SOME OF THAT!

Playing patty-cake with a panther.

Cat likes the kneading part of the home cooking lessons.

Apple Air Duel.

Memories of summer.

But winter is coming.

Inman: Playing a practical joke on mom for TikTok likes probably isn't worth the grounding that's on the way.

Chubby redheaded kid shows some fightiness his opponents probably weren't expecting.

Alyssa Milano proves that she's a very natural actress -- her natural acting is just as garbage as the shit she puts up on the screen.

Six soyboys vs. one man. The soyboys are outnumbered.

Okay. Sound up.

What is this Mystery Critter?

Answer.

Back when I was a kid, keeping hawks and falcons was extremely popular. Had many family friends with hawks and/or falcons. I really loved watching them when they'd take them out for hunts, as there was no shortage of rabbits and ground squirrels in the area. Not sure what would be involved these days to do it in CA, if it's even still possible. We really just should have started shooting people moving into the state in the 70's.

104 Adult female spiders of several Stegodyphus species weighing more than 10 lbs and with a body size of up to 14 inches have been observed ballooning using rising thermals on hot days without wind. These spiders use tens to hundreds of silk strands, which form a triangular sheet with a length and width of about 1 metre (39 in).

Best of Breed for Delilah and 4th in the Hound Group at today's Cypress Creek KC show. She's now just a few points away from being the #1 Borzoi in all-breed competition (she's #1 in breed by a huge margin).

Brother Sonny kept his head screwed on long enough to go Winners Dog for two championship points, giving him 14 of the 15 he needs.

A bright, cold, breezy day. Good for the dogs, bad for us. Hounds were first up at 1:15 and by 2:30 we were ready to leave. We had parked on the sidewalk in a remote location. When we returned to the setup, we found that some idiot had parked so we couldn't get out. 300 feet of empty curb space they could have used and they picked the exact wrong spot. Then we couldn't find them. After an hour, they came back and drove the wrong way up a one-way street.

142 Peacock has quite a lineup of movies so far this month. I've been watching the Lethal Weapon(s) and had forgotten how badly those things started jumping the shark after #1. We bitch about woke messaging, but these idiots were on fire. #2 was all anti-South African Apartheid (anybody from SA was an evil white asshole), #3 was entirely capitalism is bad, cops are bad, guns are bad (nevermind they're illegal) mmm'kay? and #4, the worst literally shows in a police station, anti-NRA posters (NRA with red circle/line). It even starts with an NRA joke not 30 seconds in.

And every, damned thing they preach is a connect-the-dots as to why CA is so boned 30 years later. At least Mel seems to have gotten out of there semi-sane (only semi).

190 Rough couple days at the Martini Farm. One of our cats was acting listless and yesterday we finally took him to the vet. Some sort of infection... temp of 105. White count way up. No idea what happened. Today, and about $450 later he's back where he belongs after using up at least 2 of his 9 lives.

We strongly believe a run in with a 'coon. No rabies, he's been vaxx'd... and no apparent wounds.

Weird.

192 I think the size difference between us and spiders fosters mistrust on our part. If they were bigger, say 75 to 125 pounds, they'd be more like dogs and we could relate to them better. Voracious eight-eyed dogs that we'd have to ensure we're in secure enclosures at night so they didn't eat the children, but still.

Truth. Boy, yeah.

Mama always used the word "culo," when appropriate with us (usually involving, yes, a wooden spoon). A friend and I were taking an Italian class to satisfy grad school requirements (more fun with a study pal) when one evening, during the teacher's "new vocabulary" review, when the word "culo" appeared. I burst out laughing (guffaw, actually). Teacher, of course, needed an explanation. I explained the wooden spoon connection, etc. I always thought my first-gen American mama made up the word. Nope!

Yeah, Disney buying Fox is depressing AF. They've already been the worst at putting films in their vault for 10-15 years at a time. But now, entire movies are going to be memory holed. About the only ones I really collected were classic animation (WB and Disney) plenty of which has already been banned. But as far as films go - not so good. No doubt a robust black market will spring up.

Many sailors have reported spiders being caught in their ship's sails over 1,600 kilometres (990 mi)[17] from land (Heimer 198.

They have even been detected in atmospheric data balloons collecting air samples at slightly less than 5 kilometres (16,000 ft) above sea level.[18]

Evidently, ballooning is the most common way for spiders to invade isolated islands and mountaintops.[17][19] Spiderlings are known to survive without food while travelling in air currents of jet streams for 25 days or longer

358 188 AT the SEC football broadcast, some kids held a big blue "FJB" banner in the background when the announcers where speaking and you could tell then were trying not to laugh

college football saves the world.

And notice that Aaron Rodgers stuck his finger in the air and decided to be all conservative and stuff.

Posted by: artemis at November 05, 2021 07:29 PM (AwPyG)

I am a big Packers fan and try to not let Rodgers' off-field crap bother me (as long as he's an All Pro-caliber QB playing for the Packers). The thing about Rodgers you must always remember is that every single thing he does is to help himself, and only himself. He would flip from conservative to Prog in a nano-second if that flip somehow helped him that day. And flip back the next day if that helped him.

441 ZOD is weird. And crazy. And possibly a genius.

And weird. ZOD is probably tall, and has a full head of hair.

Pug has some reservations.

Pug is out of bourbon.

448 I do feel kinda sorry for Aaron, because he's clearly out for himself, and he's a great, great player who happened to play in the same era as Brady.

It must eat at him. NTTAWWT

449 Everybody Loves Raymond had a great ending. It didn't have an ending, and that was pretty smart of them. It works for syndication because the shows just go on and on and no one is building for the finale and planning to start over.

yeah I know many don't like the show for some good reasons. But at least you never hear their actors spouting off in the Woke Olympics online.
