The Quotes of The Day

Quote I

It turns out The Man is a nominal female, and is Speaker of the House, and she can't stand this little Latina mosquito with the shark teeth, below-freezing IQ and all the appeal of a bleeding anal wart. Those phone-addled hipsters who are obsessed with vaginas and farting cows are about to discover they don't have enough pull in political circles to yank a rhetorical greasy piece of string out of a whore's ass.Matthew Noto

Quote II

Just imagine if they had been honest and forthright. But that was not in the cards. The ruling caste’s conceit is that we are idiots, unable and unworthy to make simple decisions for ourselves. We must be guided, nudged, or intimidated, if necessary, into making the right choice. And we do not deserve explanations, because the last thing our elite wants is accountability. Kurt Schlichter

Quote III

"If a city can target and punish a farmer for his religious beliefs on marriage, and do the things that they did and get away with that kind of authority over somebody's religious beliefs… they really have the power to try to impact everybody's religious beliefs," Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) Senior Counsel Kate Anderson

I guess Talcum X didn't hear about the following black lives while moving.

Transracial activist Shaun King is moving on up. The controversial “advocate” has left the hustle and bustle of New York and moved to his new luxury home in New Jersey.

I guess these black lives don't matter as they weren't convicted felons killed in a criminal act. Poor babies never stood a chance.

The aunt of two children, ages 7 and 5, who were found dead in the trunk of a car during a Wednesday traffic stop near Baltimore had been driving around with their deceased bodies for months before she was arrested.

Nicole M. Johnson, 33, faces multiples charges, including neglect and first-degree child abuse that resulted in the death of a child under the age of 13, for the deaths of Joshlyn Johnson, 7, and 5-year-old Larry O’Neil, both siblings.

She was initially pulled over at 11 p.m. by officers from the Baltimore County Police Department's Essex precinct for speeding. The vehicle had fake paper tags from West Virginia and was unregistered and uninsured, Fox affiliate WBFF-TV reported.

I have a number of questions as I imagine you do as well. I suspect those questions make us Haters.

Gee Whiz! Who would have thought employees don't like working in an office environment?

Big tech companies are at war with employees over remote work
CEOs want workers back at their desks. Employees and the virus have other plans.

All across the United States, the leaders at large tech companies like Apple, Google, and Facebook are engaged in a delicate dance with thousands of employees who have recently become convinced that physically commuting to an office every day is an empty and unacceptable demand from their employers.

Philosophical beliefs are something in the UK.

Ethical vegans may be exempt from being forced by their employers to be vaccinated because their lifestyle beliefs are protected by law, a legal firm has claimed.

Last year, a judge presiding over an employment tribunal ruled that ethical veganism — where a vegan avoids all animals products, products that used animals in testing, or services associated with animal exploitation — was a “philosophical belief”, making it a protected characteristic like race, religion, or sexuality, with its adherents covered under the Equality Act 2010.

The problem with Qualified Immunity? Scott County Judge Richard C. Perkins and the brutal murder of America Mafalda Thayer.

America was involved in an abusive relationship with one Alexis Saborit. She wanted out. That appears to have been what prompted Saborit to deploy his trusty machete on her.

Saborit was quickly apprehended and charged with America’s murder. Is he an illegal alien, a legal resident, or a citizen via Puerto Rico? He has yet to get up to speed in English. In his court appearance yesterday he spoke in Spanish, claimed self-defense, and asked to be deported to his own country rather than stand trial in Scott County.

The judge set bail at $2.5 million. Let us pray that Kamala Harris does not set up a GoFundMe page to spring Saborit pending trial.

Saborit had a criminal record of domestic abuse. At the time he murdered Thayer he was on his way to court on a 2020 arson charge. He had tried to burn down his apartment building in Shakopee. He wielded a gasoline can, a baseball bat, and his trusty machete in a standoff with police on that occasion.

Despite concerns expressed about his mental health by his own attorney in that case, Saborit was out on bail. He was released from custody at least twice on bond, most recently in April. A mental health evaluation was ordered. Most recently, his conditional release was ordered revoked and a court document found he was a danger to others. He was asserting a mental illness/cognitive impairment defense in the case. Scott County Judge Richard C. Perkins nevertheless ordered him released. Why, I do not know.

Men do not menstruate. Of course they do in California home of the fruits, nuts and flakes.

California may be the first state to to require public schools provide free menstrual products to men.

“California recognizes that access to menstrual products is a basic human right and is vital for ensuring the health, dignity, and full participation of all Californians in public life,” the text of AB-367 states.

The bill continues, “California has an interest in promoting gender equity, not only for women and girls, but also for transgender men, nonbinary, and gender-nonconforming people who may also menstruate and experience inequities resulting from lack of access to menstrual products.”

Introduced by Assemblymember Cristina Garcia, who represents California's 58th district, AB-367 would cost the California State University System between $750,000 to $800,000.

This is not Garcia’s first attempt at requiring California colleges to provide free menstrual products. In 2017 she introduced another bill requiring colleges to provide free menstrual products, but that was cut due to budget concerns.

I'm happy that bacon will be banned and napkins and tampons are free for men.

The world was aghast at the Munich 1972 Olympics.

Just imagine the outcry if the Israelis would have taken this piece of shit out. My how times have changed.

Did a terrorist actually just win an Olympic gold medal?

Iranian marksman Javad Foroughi won Iran's first gold medal in the men's 10-meter air pistol event last Saturday. He has quite the shot, and it's a little terrifying to think about all the real-life practice he may have had…

Javad Foroughi is 41 years old and this was his first appearance on the Olympic stage, and being part of a terrorist organization somehow didn't disqualify him from competing.

I really don't think God give's a rats ass who runs for senate from the State of Alaska.

Lisa Murkowski, one of two Republican senators in Alaska, is facing some primary challengers after coming out in favor of impeaching the previous president. Murkowski has been in office since succeeding her father in 2002 and would up for re-election next year. Kelly Tshibaka announced her campaign months ago, Reuters reports. But now Sarah Palin is hinting about challenging Murkowski, too. The former Alaska governor who resigned in 2009 three years into her four-year term said “if God wants me to do it, I will,” the Guardian reports.

This gal missed her calling. She should have been elected in Illinois.

New Mexico House Majority Leader Sheryl Williams Stapleton, a Democrat, resigned Friday amid a criminal probe involving allegations that include money laundering and racketeering, according to reports.

Stapleton announced her resignation in a July 30 letter, obtained by The Paper, to the Secretary of State Maggie Toulouse Oliver, in which she “unequivocally” denied the allegations.

COPPING OFF Moment two cops are caught having sex in back of police car by passerby in viral video that got them both sacked

TWO cops have been sacked after they were filmed by a passer-by having sex in a police car.

In the viral video, the sex crazed crime fighters appear oblivious to being filmed as the female officer straddles her male colleague.

It's all fun and games until someone goes to prison. Genius Award Winner.

JULY 29--An elderly Florida Man today copped a plea to felony charges in connection with his bloody, botched castration of a man he met on a eunuch website, a crime for which he will be sentenced to three years in prison, according to court records.

During a Circuit Court hearing this afternoon, Gary Van Ryswyk, 76, pleaded no contest to unlicensed practice of a health care profession resulting in serious bodily injury. He entered a similar plea to a second, lesser felony charge.

A plea agreement signed by Van Ryswyk and his lawyer indicates that the septuagenarian fetishist will be sentenced later this year to three years in state prison. The top count to which Van Ryswyk pleaded carries a maximum 15-year term of incarceration.

Since Van Ryswyk will be credited for the time he spent in a county jail before making bond in November 2020, he will likely serve around two years in state custody.

A detailed account of the at-home castration Van Ryswyk performed in August 2019 on the victim, now 55, is contained in the prosecution’s case file, which was provided to TSG in response to an open records request. Along with crime scene photos and police reports, the records include recorded interviews with Van Ryswyk and the victim, a hardware store

Tonight's Feel Good Story of The Day

Two men who were hired by Louisiana millionaire Lawrence Michael Handley to kidnap his estranged wife drowned while trying to evade police.

Handley pleaded guilty on Monday to two counts of second-degree kidnapping and one count of attempted second-degree kidnapping after authorities said he orchestrated the abduction of his estranged wife, according to a report by USA Today.

There is a flip cell phone I use for my elected position. The phone number is on the county web site. I leave it at home most of the time.

The only time it rings in the house is when Auto Warrantee calls come in. The house is a Faraday Cage, and my provider must boost the transmission signal for it to get to that phone.

I am convinced telemarketers exist to move people to phones that can trace your location.

After much delay, senators unveiled a nearly $1 trillion bipartisan infrastructure package Sunday night, wrapping up days of painstaking work on the inches-thick bill and launching what is certain to be a lengthy debate over President Joe Biden's big priority.

The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act clocked in at some 2,700 pages, and senators could begin amending it soon. Despite the hurry-up-and-wait during a rare weekend session, the final product was not intended to stray from the broad outline senators had negotiated for weeks with the White House.

"Infrastructure". Had I not long ago given up on the country, I'd ask if anyone still exists who actually parses the appropriation to see how much - if any - actual infrastructure is involved. And how much consists of repugnant, crude payoffs to various unions and other entities.

I assume the financing is straight fed spending? I.e., printing money? Trump and Co. were only B- on this issue, their saving merit being that they claimed they'd do most of it with market-ish financing (guvamint loan guarantees).

Of course the mystery of how so much infrastructure was built in the first place, usually without federal involvement or money printing, surpasses even the puzzle of how we got to the moon and won the Cold War with education standards and approaches that are now simply inadequate.

Moby refers to someone trying to pretend to be part of the pack, usually a Leftie posing as a Righty.

Glowie is a Fedposter who is so obviously a Federal LEO that is stands out like he's illuminated.

Not sure if it's been mentioned but today is the 40th anniversary of the launch of MTV.

MTV is marking its 40th anniversary with a relaunch of its iconic image of an astronaut on the moon, with an MTV flag planted nearby.

On Sunday, the media network unveiled a large scale "Moon Person" during a ceremony at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida. The new design was inspired by a Moon Person image created this year by Kehinde Wiley, who painted the portrait of former President Barack Obama for the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery.

417 I'm not going to put my hash in my nic, because my darling ISP has me on a "dynamic" IP address, and it changes without warning several times in an hour.

I am currently awaiting the final cooking of the evening Peon-meal, which is "Mah Po bean curd". Found a sauce mix pack at Wally World the other day. Smells good, anyway. Recipe called for leeks, didn't have any since the last Polar Bear hunt, so used zucchini instead.

He had a chance to go somewhere but then he had major fuck ups. He thought he was going to be the one with the "solution" to dreamers in 2012 and then right after he offered his bullshit exposing himself as a typical establishment loser Obama did his EO bullshit. He further tanked himself in 2016 with the whole I'm not going to run for reelection because I'm gonna be president and then deciding he would when he lost the nomination. He can do good where he is but the only people that trust him think Jeb is a viable choice.

436 SFGoth, there are always sorts whose ardor exceeds their understanding, but like most powers the Soviets were seeking max influence and not actual shootin'. A look at the reality of how the two sides dealt with the supposed closest approach to the brink during the Cuba crisis is illustrative. Kennedy interrupted and tossed out his nukyler war options briefer before he'd completed his briefing. The politburo s-canned Nikita for his "hair-brained schemes" (of course they'd mostly signed off on some of it) after it was over.

A'stan in '79 was an uncharacteristic and bumbling move for the USSR. Hitherto they'd stuck to low-hanging fruit when it came to major commitments (i.e. conflicts that already existed, where they could hurt or confound us). Turned out to be their last blunder.

All manner of very aggressive political influence ops etc in the early Cold War (France and Italy and Greece) were cheap and had no potential for military confrontation, ditto the support of terrorism in the 70s/80s.

440 Strategically, the Soviets did think they could win by nuking our nukes and then suing for peace on their terms. Hence the obsession with first-strike weapons, and the brilliance of Pournelle/Reagan trolling them with SDI.

Whether they'd actually push the button is perhaps another matter.

462 There's always someone - sadly, often many - who believes stupid shit, and no doubt some in the Soviet SRF actually believed their pre-emptive counter-force ideas were realistic.

Nope. And no evidence anyone in a position of authority ever thought so, either. The notion that one of the most powerful and damaging (including casualties and economy) military attacks in history would somehow be considered a discrete partial step was idiotic on its face. And a few thousand invulnerable SLBMs made it a laughably idiotic notion.

"MAD" was not a policy, it was a situation, and it wasn't "immoral" in the slightest, another idiotic idea (no situation can of itself be "immoral"). SDI or any kind of partial defense is rational, or can be, but that's because it gives one more options, situational edge, and possible leverage, not because it fundamentally changes anything, because it obviously doesn't.

People "limiting their carbon footprint" does not make the putative "problem" they imagine real. The reason the common formula of "if so-and-so stops using jet travel, I'll take 'climate change' seriously" such a stupid, stupid "come-back" to anything.

If half your neighborhood abandons their homes to gather in a local park to await the arrival of their rescuing allies from Alpha Centauri, are you going to take the arrival of beings from Alpha Centauri seriously? No, you're not. Same lack of logic.

511 Real Russian nukes parked sixty miles from USA is real.
When we forced them to break Cuba loose and tow it 30 more miles away from the Keys, it did a lot to neutralize the threat. Actual distance from Cuba to Florida cities they could hit, 200 miles.

Theoretical range of best Russian IRBM's at the time would have taken in Washington DC. Russians did not have an ICBM force at home with that range. US Jupiters in Turkey were right at the edge of their range to reach Moscow, but were a quick hop to the Crimea. Some versions of the story hold that JFK did not know the Jupiter bases in Turkey were even there.

512 F'ing masks...

And we might think: "Why? Wouldn't masks make it more difficult to ID perps in commission of crimes?"

Well. Would it really? Don yer tinfoil hats and hear my tinfoil theory:

Possibly not. By obscuring the mouth and nose, there are fewer features for facialrecog to analyze. Plus, "they say" it's all in the eyes, brows and nosebridge anyhow. They don't care about actual perps, but might be very interested in massive crowds of, say, magatype protesttypes. Faster, due to fewer irrelevant data points.

Last week, one of Mom's portable telephone handsets was nowhere to be found. Then, there it was, in plain sight, on the seat of the couch. Nooooo waaaaay said all us searchers, who had looked there repeatedly.

If there's a poltergeist in this house, I'd bop it with my cane. If I could find it.

I envy you your week. This was a "quick response" to the Port of Galveston not allowing Cargo Trailers (for luggage), without notice. Did it in three days, in my driveway, in the hot and humid Galveston sun. EZ pop up shade, notwithstanding. World's worst MIG welder, too, and minimal fabricating tools. My verdict. D+ on welds. B+ on grinding. A on fitment and design. Good grinding makes bad welds look good. And the end result is square and fits with nary a hair to spare. But a driveway a Fab Table, is not. And my back and shoulders remind me of this, by the minute.

Back when I was a young Peon, all the Indian tribes, and Indian place names, had been transliterated rendered into English by traders and scholars, who mostly did their level best to render the sounds of the Indian names into readable English. The result was something called "Chinook trade jargon", which was a smattering of Indian words and place names stuck into a basically English sentence structure.

Starting about the 1970's, this was deemed to be "rayciss", and new written forms of the Coastal languages were devised, in which the most commonly used character was the apostrophe. So, the eminently pronounceable name "Coquitlam" now gets rendered as "C'kwit''ell'um" or some such nonsense. This deemed to be "progress".

It's my recent understanding that all trailers must have a serial # and a deed. Can't be transferred otherwise, and subject to seizure without a registered state #.

It makes a certain amount of sense, in that trailers are frequently stolen. But it makes it very difficult to 'build your own'.

But of course. Far above me in the rankings are Ben Had, Rancher Bob & CowHorseQueen, Weasel, shooting, food, drinks, music, dancing, and oh, what the hell. All of it. I'm happy to be #10 long as I'm not flushed out as #2.

There are a great many sounds in the any number of the barbarian tongues that just cannot be transliterated into any of the civilised languages...

Some may say that phonemic tones, glottal stops, and nasal vowels rarely occur in English, but the quintessential Americanisms, "uh-huh", "uh-uh", "uh-oh", and the like, are said to be quite true to their native American origins, both in pronunciation and meaning, and contain tones, glottal stops, and nasal vowels!

It's always been here, if you can show receipt or previous title for an "axle assembly" you're good to go. Buy an axle kit at Trailer, Wheel and Frame or show the old title to your '72 Chevy C-10 from which you built the trailer. Good to go. Building from fence pipe and old truck springs and angle iron for a trailer though? Oh, that's gonna be a pain, fo sho.

But in English, at least, we have developed conventions to render these into text. The convention doesn't have to be a prefect phonetic rendering that can be understood from first principles. It's just an agreed-upon rendering.

Here in Alberta, if you build your own trailer, it has to have a safety check done at an "approved shop", which can cost several hundred dollars. So the trick is buy a junk tent trailer or small boat trailer, and chisel off the data plate, and apply that to your homebuilt.

I still can't find a reference to the "word", as there seems to be no confirmed spelling thereof. But you know it when you hear it.

Here, the more graceful approach is to drill out the data plate rivets and re-rivet onto your homebuilt abomination of a trailer.

Chisels DO leave such terrible GOUGES, you know. *pecksniffian sniff* /lol (pure fact. Galveston renders "data plates" surfaces of unreadable oxides, oops!)

618 RE: All the Cold War talk.

It is becoming clearer to me with every passing day that the Russians did not want to start a nuclear war. They understood the purpose of a nuclear warhead was political and not military: as a weapon of military utility it had none.

The threat of nuclear war was far more-useful in limiting an enemy response.

Those Soviets with brains in their heads understood both the cost of the Second World War and that Stalin had hamstrung their nation's recovery from that war for at least a generation with his demands for nuclear parity. The issue these people had was that the people raised in the Stalinist system were the ones with the power and pull. That breed needed to die off before the more-sensible men got their chance to change the system and the country.

But the sensible men were frightened by the American tendency to experience swings in public opinion, and the ability to react to and act upon those swings. The very unpredictable nature of Americans frightened a people conditioned and hammered into conformity of thought and action much more than nukes.

Yes, Farmer-- the rose bush is YUGE and yields up a few decent-sized stems ("canes" lol) every couple of years.

I cut them-- hubby takes care of drying, peeling and the rest. There are a couple of very old stems that I'll hate to cut out, as they hold the majority of the bush's foliage, but they will yield *substantial hunks* of rosewood when their time comes.
